AN: First I want to apologize for taking forever to update this story. Also I want to say thank you for those who had reviewed the last two chapters. Hopefully you guys would like this new Chapter as well.
Monica and Phoebe were both sitting at one of the picnic tables while their kids were running around the playground. Monica was going through the guest list for Erica and Jack's birthday party, which was only a few days away. Monica couldn't believe that her children were already turning five years old. It seemed like only yesterday that she and Chandler were in the hospital when both of their kids were born and they took them home. When Monica and Chandler were officially picked for the adoption, they were very excited about becoming parents, especially after it had taken them almost a year or two trying to get pregnant. What they didn't expect was that they would be parents of twins.
Raising the twins these past five years has been a great experience for both Monica and Chandler, and they wouldn't trade their kids for anything.
" Hey Monica?"
" Hmmm?" Monica asked as she was still going over the guest list.
Phoebe said, "Have you noticed the way Ross has been staring at Rachel yesterday?" Everyone was sitting around at Central Perk when she made this observation. She noticed that Ross barely paid attention to what his daughter was saying; instead, he had his full attention on Rachel.
Monica looked up and shrugged her shoulders. "I guess, he was staring at her, the whole time," she said. "What's your point?" Monica asked as she tried to figure out where Phoebe was going with this.
" Come on Monica, don't you think it's very obvious that Ross still has feelings for Rachel?"
" Are you sure, Ross still has feelings for Rachel?" Monica asked as she scrunched up her nose a little as she didn't believe that Ross could still have feelings for Rachel." It's been like five years since the last time they saw each other."
Well, duh. Of course it's been five years," Phoebe said as she sighed exasperatedly. "But didn't you notice that hug between them?" She asked, trying to get her point across.
Well, now that you've mentioned it, that hug did seem kind of long. But it's been five years since they've seen each other. I wouldn't read too much into it, Pheebs." Monica said as she shrugged her shoulders a little.
Yeah, I guess you're right," Phoebe said as she decided to let it go for now. It was very clear to Phoebe that both Rachel and Ross still had feelings for each other; they were just being too stubborn to do anything about it.
" Hey guys." Rachel said as soon as she walked towards Monica and Phoebe at the picnic table when Emma ran towards her cousins and join them at the playground.
" Hey Rachel, how was it visiting your mom?" Monica asked.
" It was good, actually. She's thinking of visiting us in Paris for Thanksgiving this year." Rachel answers as she sat across her two friends. Earlier when Rachel and Emma was at her mom's. Rachel's mom had mentioned that she wanted to come to Paris and spend Thanksgiving with her and Emma.
" Maybe you should invite Ross to join you guys for Thanksgiving." Phoebe suggested.
"And, why would I do something like that?" Rachel asked, shaking her head.
" Because you still love him and it's obvious that he still loves you." Phoebe answered as she shrugs her shoulders." Besides that hug between you two, that we all witnessed yesterday clearly meant there's something between you two."
Rachel sighed exasperatedly as she rolled her eyes."That hug, was nothing okay?" Rachel said. "Ross and I are just friends who happen to share a daughter together. There's absolutely nothing going on between us." Rachel looked over at Emma for a moment. A small part of her would like to be with Ross. But she knew nothing could really happen between them, now that she's in Paris.
Putting the guest list aside for now, Monica decided to change the subject."Hey Rachel, Joey is coming over for dinner tonight and he's bringing his new girlfriend."
" They're coming over tonight?" Rachel asked.
" Yeah."
Oh, I would love to meet Joey's new girlfriend... but I can't tonight. Ross had already invited me and Emma over for dinner tonight. Seeing the look on Phoebe's face, Rachel sighed. "What?"
" Now are you sure, there's nothing going on between you and Ross?" Phoebe asked again.
Rachel sighed as she nodded her head. "Phoebe, there's nothing going on between me and Ross. It's just dinner between two parents and their daughter. That's all." She said, hoping Phoebe would accept it.
" That's all?"
" That's all."
" Alright, whatever you say Rachel. But trust me on this. Sooner or later, you two will get back together and the three of you, will be a family again."
" What makes you think that?"
Because you and Ross are each other's lobsters. You and Ross are meant for each other," Phoebe said with a huge grin across her face.
Rachel snorted a laugh as she shook her head."Whatever you say, Phoebe," she said in disbelief. The thought of her and Ross being each other's lobsters seemed ridiculous to her. Maybe they were each other's lobsters once before. But that was a long time ago. There's a lot of history between them, but they can't just go back.
Ross and Rachel were enjoying a quiet dinner together with their daughter. As Ross was eating dinner with Rachel and Emma, he began to wonder how much he wished they could have family dinners like this every night. Of course, it wasn't going to happen because Rachel and Emma were returning to Paris in a few days. Ross longed for his girls to be back in his life and back in New York, where they belonged, and deep down, Rachel knew they belonged there with him and their family and friends.
Taking a sip of his beer, Ross cleared his throat before setting his bottle down."So, how's your mom doing?" He asked, remembering that Rachel and Emma had gone to visit Rachel's mother this morning. He was supposed to take Emma over to Carol and Susan's house, so she could spend some time with their son Ben, who was home from college. But he knew how important it was for Emma to visit her grandmother.
" She's good. She wants to come to Paris for Thanksgiving this year. " Rachel answers as she took a drink of her wine before setting the glass down.
"Oh, that sounds nice. What about your sisters? Don't they usually spend Thanksgiving with her?" Ross asked as he took a bite of his chicken.
"Yeah, they usually do. But I guess this year Jill is spending Thanksgiving with her fiancé and his family, and Amy can't get off work this Thanksgiving. So that leaves me." Rachel said with a shrug as she took a drink of her wine.
"Here's an idea. Why don't you guys come back and spend Thanksgiving with us, and we can invite your mom? Ross suggested as he took another drink of his beer.
" Oh, I don't know Ross. Flying back here for the Holidays can be really expensive and sometimes getting tickets aren't always that easy. I mean I was lucky to fly out this week." As much Rachel would love to spend Thanksgiving with her friends this year. It might not happen.
"Yeah, I guess you're right," Ross said with disappointment. But then an idea suddenly popped into his head. "Oh! Here's an idea. What if I fly out to Paris and spend Thanksgiving with you guys?"
" Are you sure? I mean can you afford it?"
Ross chuckled lightly and nodded his head. "Of course, I can afford it, Rachel. Besides, I want to spend Thanksgiving with you guys. I mean, if you'll let me." He said with a small smile.
Rachel looked at Ross for a moment before looking over at Emma. "What do you think, Emma? Should daddy come to Paris and spend Thanksgiving with us this year?"
Emma's eyes widened as soon as she heard Ross was going to join them for Thanksgiving this year. "Oh Daddy, please come to Paris this year," she said with excitement as she got up from her chair and threw her arms around his neck, giving him the biggest kiss on his cheek.
"I guess that's a yes," Ross said with a chuckle as he hugged his daughter and kissed the side of her head. Even though Rachel can't be with everyone for Thanksgiving this year, at least he can be with his girls instead; and if he's being honest with himself, he would rather spend Thanksgiving with Rachel and Emma than with Monica and Chandler this year.
Watching Ross with their daughter had made Rachel's heart swell with love; a smile came across her face as she felt a warm and fuzzy feeling inside. She then gasped softly, placing her hand over her mouth, as she suddenly realized that Phoebe was right – Ross really is her lobster.
