Chapter 7: Megatron Returns

Later on, Astrotrain and Blitzwing were talking to each other. They, along with the other Decepticons, had been ordered to prepare for a coronation ceremony for Starscream, which was to be broadcast all across Cyberspace. The two Triple Changers were watching the Stunticons put up a gilded statue of Starscream wearing a crown and cape.

"I don't like it, Blitz." said Astrotrain. "Just like that, Starscream takes control?"

"He's no Megatron." replied Blitzwing. "That's for sure."

"Darn right he's not." agreed Astrotrain. "And don't even get me started on that stupid statue. That only goes to show how much of a big ego boost this whole shebang has pretty much become for Starscream, Requiem Blaster or not."

"You said it, buddy." said Blitzwing. "In fact, I don't know about you, but I'm starting to get sick of the way Starscream is running this show."

"Oh, believe me, me too." said Astrotrain.

"As am I." said a voice.

It was Soundwave, who had heard everything that was being said between the Triple Changers.

"Oh, hey, Soundwave." greeted Astrotrain. "I guess you were listening in on this whole conversation?"

"That I was." said Soundwave. "And I've got an idea."

"If it's better than any of Starscream's ideas, I'd love to hear it." said Blitzwing.

"I'm going to rescue Megatron." said Soundwave. "You two wanna join?"

Astrotrain and Blitzwing looked and nodded at each other before looking back at Soundwave.

"We're with you, Soundwave." said Astrotrain.

"Yeah, let's go!" agreed Blitzwing.

"Excellent." replied Soundwave. "Follow me."

With that, the three Decepticons transformed into their alt-modes and took off. Little did they know that Skywarp was listening in on them.

"I better report this." he said.

Meanwhile, Soundwave and the Triple Changers had just entered Cybertronian space via a Space Bridge.

"So, where are we headed, Soundwave?" asked Astrotrain.

"First, we'll be heading to Chaar, because that's where Megatron is right now." replied Soundwave. "Afterwards, we'll take him back to my old workshop in Kaon back on Cybertron and fix him up there."

"But why can't you just fix him up in the one you have in our fortress on Chaar?" asked Blitzwing.

"Because, Blitzwing, my workshop on Chaar does not have the necessary equipment needed for this job that my workshop on Cybertron does." said Soundwave. "In our haste to move our base from Cybertron to Chaar after the Autobots reclaimed the planet, I left a lot of that stuff behind."

"Makes sense." said Blitzwing.

Soon, the trio arrived back at the fortress on Chaar, where they wasted no time locating the room where Megatron's unconscious body lay. Once the true Decepticon leader had been found, Soundwave removed Megatron from the table the latter had been placed on. Once the three Cons had their leader, they departed from the fortress and subsequently from Chaar, with Soundwave onboard Astrotrain with Megatron. It wasn't long before they arrived on Cybertron. Being very careful to stay under the radar, they made their way across the sky, eventually reaching the former Decepticon capital city of Kaon. It wasn't long before Soundwave spotted the place where his workshop was.

"There it is." said Soundwave. "Take us down, Astrotrain."

"You got it, Soundwave." said Astrotrain.

Astrotrain landed outside the building, which was actually part of a larger complex next to some ruins of some kind of arena. After landing, Soundwave disembarked from Astrotrain carrying Megatron as the Triple Changers assumed robot mode. The group soon found themselves inside the workshop, where Soundwave laid Megatron down on a workbench in the center of the room. Afterwards, he opened up his chest compartment.

"Rumble, Frenzy, eject." he said. "Operation; Rescurrection."

Rumble and Frenzy jumped out of Soundwave's chest, and once they were ready and able, the five Cons set to work repairing Megatron. Astrotrain, Blitzwing, and the two Mini-Cons handed Soundwave whatever tools and parts he requested.

"The sooner we get Megatron fixed up, the sooner we can get our own back at Starscream." said Astrotrain.

"Amen to that, pal." agreed Blitzwing. "Boy, I can already imagine the look on Starscream's face."

"Whatever face that is, I bet it'll be the last face he ever makes." said Astrotrain.

Soon, the repairs were complete, and Soundwave lowered a ray gun of some kind in front of Megatron.

"Energon infusion commencing in 3...2...1." said Soundwave.

Soundwave then pressed a button that caused the ray gun to zap Megatron with a blue beam. Soundwave watched in a screen as a chart showing Megatron's power supply began to fill up, and it wasn't long before the chart was filled all the way up to 100%. Afterwards, he shut off the ray. Just as he was putting the ray back in its original place, Megatron's optic circuits came online, and the newly repaired Decepticon leader gazed at his surroundings.

"Where...am I?" asked Megatron.

"Kaon. My lab near the old gladiator arenas." replied Soundwave.

Megatron was surprised when he heard Soundwave's voice.

"Soundwave? Is that you?" he asked.

"Affirmative." confirmed Soundwave.

"Welcome back, Megatron." said Astrotrain.

"It's good to be back, Astrotrain." replied Megatron as he stretched his limbs after recognizing those with Soundwave. "By the way, where is Starscream?"

"Oh, boy, am I glad you asked." said Blitzwing. "Wait 'til you hear this."

And with that, Blitzwing gave Megatron the skinny on what Starscream had been up to by this point in time. Megatron, naturally, didn't like that one bit.

"Decepticons, follow me!" he said. "We must get to Cyberspace and stop Starscream before he causes irreparable harm!"

His fellow Decepticons agreed, and they all followed Megatron outside, where Soundwave, after having Rumble and Frenzy return to him, transformed into his stealth bomber mode as Astrotrain and Blitzwing transformed into their respective space shuttle and jet modes. Then, Megatron boarded Astrotrain, and soon, the three Decepticons were airborne, with their leader in tow. Megatron was seething from Astrotrain's cockpit and hellbent on giving his traitorous second-in-command a piece of his mind.

"Enjoy being leader while you still can, Starscream." Megatron declared. "It will not last much longer."
