With tears feeling from her eyes she watched up towards the stars. Right beside her side three little kids were curled up on her lap. Palila wondered how things ended this way because she had never thought she would have children some day, not ever since then-

At the end she found it funny how things ended, after all she truly grew up...

Now she has her own little lost boys to take care of.

Some hours earlier ~

"What's all this about?" Palila said as she saw how Ace was pulling Luffy hair " It's Luffy!!! he doesn't want to listen!!! " Ace said as Luffy pouted "If you want to go and have a swim on the beach!" Sabo rolled his eyes at Luffy's words "And that's a problem ¿ Why?" She was confused, not really getting why it was even a problem at all "You see Palila our little brother is quite the energy ball, we have tried teaching him to swim on the beach but-" before Sabo could finish the sentence Ace interrupted "Luffy couldn't sit still not even for a second! It was so difficult and dangerous trying to teach him, while being on the open waters!! So since then Luffy is only allowed to practice on the lake" Ace stated, while Luffy yous pouted while letting go of a soft "The lake is boring" that made Ace want to go and strangulate him.

"You know i could take Luffy to the beach while you guys take the morning off from taking care of him" she stated while picking Luffy up, who yous chirped happily.

"Are you sure you can handle him?" Ace rolled his eyes up "Of course i can! After all i am the adult here" at that sabo took a step towards her "Okay we agreed" Ace was about to protest but Sabo talked first "She is indeed and adult Ace, and if she can't handle him then it means we can't truly trust her...and we really need a Luffy break " Ace couldn't argue to that! They needed a Luffy Break~

"Okay i accept! But if something happens to my brother - " Sabo punched him on the head " You take care of him. And Ace don't be so rough with her" at that statement Ace rolled his eyes.

Palila and Luffy were on their way towards Fosha village because they needed to get some stuff before going out for a swim.

"Makinos Bar?" Luffy has been talking to her about how they should pay makino a visit . But who was this Makino Lady? "She took care of me before gramps sent me away to the mountains" Luffy said simply as if it was as simple as that "So she is your mom?" I have my a doubts but it's very possible " I don't know, Makino is yous Makino" For Luffy Makino was yous who took care of him but their wasn't really a mother and son relationship, more like a little brother and big sister kind of relationship "So we're is her bar?" Luffy guided them through the village until they were on from of a part called the Party's Bar.

Makino was cleaning up the bar when suddenly she had a small little boy hugging her up "Luffy!" She was happy to see him! But wait! Wasn't he not supposed to come down to fossha? "Luffy what are you doing here? Didn't Garp forbid you from coming?!" She said worried "I forgot" before she could say anything about it the bar door was open. She turned her gaze up towards the newcomer and before anyone could say anything "Luffy! Don't run away like that!" She saw how Luffy ran towards the stranger she now could notice was a nice lady. For some reason she couldn't do more than stare at her...

Something about her was... magical.

Her blue ocean eyes, fit so well with her sun kissed skin. Not only that but her black dark hair was mixed-up with some brown and blond hair strands.

Only one word could describe her...unique.

"Hi miss i-" she tried to compose her self to welcome the newcomer "Sorry for my kid, he is a ball of energy," the woman started speaking and she almost let a breath go " but you may already know it! I am Palila, nice to finally meet you Miss. Makino!" Makino let a smile escape her "The pleasure is mine. But who are you?" Who was this woman? For what it seems she has been taking care of Luffy. Was she one of the mountain bandits? Last time she went to the mountains she didn't see this woman "She is my mom!" Luffy announced happily while both ladies stood there in shock "Mom?" Know Makino definitely could not stop staring at her only that now with a new light "What did you say Luffy?" Palila answers in shock "Makino can't be my mom! She's the big sister! So if she is not our mom I want to know who it was! Dadan can't be because she is an old ugly gal!" Luffy made a funny face when mentioning Dadan "So i remember what Makino said a mom is! She said that a mom is one of a kind!" Makino now started to understand where this was going for "And i never saw someone eat worms! So you're probably one of- " Palila started laughing hard now "Its true!!! I have tried to eat some before but Ace and Sabo said that it's gross so nobody else would do it!!" Luffy started shaking his arms while screaming out loud his thoughts.

After a while Makino and Palila started a conversation of a really interesting topic

"So you have been keeping an eye on those three for some time now right?"

"Yeah, that's about it..."

Palila said as she sents a look towards

Luffy's way, who was coloring with some crayons on the other side of the bar.

"So what brings you here?"

"Well Luffy here really wanted to go to the beach so i am gonna take him myself, while his brother's took a little break from this little ball of energy "

"I am glad. I wasn't really happy that the bly didn't have real adult supervision "

"You tell me. Those kids are like animals they need supervision."

They both laugh at it

"I am happy that they can finally be you's kids you know? " Makino says with a soft sad smile

"I know. And you know that fosha is not that far away from the beach so i decided to bring Luffy here to buy some beach toys for him to play with"

"If toys are what you want i know where you can buy some really good stuff!.

The store was filled with a big set of variety on the shels. Luffy was practically bouncing around with every new toy he saw .

"Sir do you have some floaties for kids?"

Palila was making sure to get everything they could end up needing while Luffy had the blast of her life. The shop was really a good one they had everything she needed! Makino surely knew what she talked about when she recommended this place. After they got everything they needed they went towards the beach and set up everything with little Luffy help.

"BUAH! What's this weird thing?!!"

"It's called Sunscreen and it's so you don't get sun burns.."

"The sun can burn me?!!!!"

His eyes fell off from the shock. Palila yous laughed a little to that "Yeah it can! Have you not had sun burns before?" She asked "No! Only that my skin has gotten red and sensitive sometimes! But never burn" he said with proud "Luffy those are sun burns!"

"EHHHH!!!!"

They were finally on the water!

Luffy was having some trouble but the floaties helped him a lot.

"You're doing great! Come towards my arms!"

They were having a lot of fun. Luffy was already starting to understand how to swim properly! "Look Mom a weird fish!" Luffy pointed towards a weird looking clown fish "That's called a Clown Fish" Luffy grabbed it "Can i eat it?" The fish was starting to try to free his self from the kids hands "Luffy you can't eat raw fish you could-" she stopped mid sentence finally processing what she heard "WAIT! DID YOU YOUS CALL ME MOM?!" Luffy laughed at her face "You look dumb shishishi" she grabbed luffy and shaked him "Its not! but why?" Luffy seemed puzzled by the question "Why what? I don't get it"...

"Why did you call me mom?..."

"Cause you're you dummy shishishi".

Ace was fighting a crocodile with the help of his brother "That's a good catch you got Ace" he smirked in response "I miss having Luffy here with us" Ace took a look away " He can go and have all the fun he wants for all i care " Ace said with a smile "By the way we have to sell something soon, cause Luffy's birthday is coming up and I don't wanna touch our pirate shavings!" Sabo was right they really should be doing that right now!! " What about selling some crocodile skin? Does that sound good? " Sabo smirked at him as he said "Yeah sure".

They went towards the edge town, where they would sell the crocodile skin. When they arrived everything went according to plan! They found someone who was going to pay them more than usual for it!. After finishing businesses with the man they were ready to leave before they were stopped by a guard that saw them a little suspicious. They were ready to leave but they tripped and their disguise fell revealing two kids! THEM!!!!. Normally they would be chased for a bit and left alone... but today was different as soon as they knew who they were, they were surrounded by guards. He was freaking out! why were they so convicted on their arrest?! "Outlook Sabo we are here to help you so please come with us without causing more trouble" Sabo? why were they after Sabo? "He send you!" my brother screamed with anger on his voice as his body began to shake out of fear "We have an order to bring back" the man pulled out of his pocket a photo of his brother! "this kid who is the son of one of the most high ranking nobles of the high town. And you my boy look yous like him!" And said brother was panicking right before my eyes. How could they want to take my brother away?!!!! "I WONT LET YOU!" i screamed at them as i attacked the guards. But no matter what i did they were too many this time!!! " Ace stop!! They are too much for us this time!" Sabo said with despair on his voice " If i go you promise you will leave my brothers alone?!" Sabo no! what are you thinking!!! i am not letting you do that!!! " DON'T YOU DARE SABO!" I can lose you! i am your big brother i am who should protect you!" I am sorry Ace but there's no other way out of this. But at least i was able to taste freedom so don't be sad..." His stupid brother said that as he walked away with the guards "Damnit!!!" he screamed as his fist hit the ground. He was getting his brother back no matter what!!!.

He went back to their tree house. As soon as he arrived he saw luffy playing with some toys he never remembers getting him but right now he doesn't care! He has to get Sabo back!!! "Ace you're back! Look this duck Palila bought me!" Poor sweet luffy so happy and without a clue about what happened to Sabo. All because he was too weak... "Sabo has been taken" he said. It was cold to reveal the truth right in the way but he didn't know how to approach this. He has never been good at expressing himself so this is the best he can do "You're lying right? Ace please tell me it is not true!!" There it was his cry baby of a brother crying again but now with desperation on his voice as his tiny hands clung to ace shirt " I am sorry i was too weak...i really tried i swear" Damnit!" Now he was crying too!! "Luffy hear me out! I am going to get him back i swear!" i hugged him tight. Deep inside I knew that it was because i was too afraid that I would lose him too.."You two why are you crying?" that woman came back with a basket of treats on her arms "It's nothing" i said "It is" why does she care? yeah she has been nice and has been taking care of them as a mom woul- no ace you can't possibly be considering it! "Either way is not like you can do anything about it! And no matter what anybody else says i-" She was hugging me "Tell me what's wrong i won't judge" Luffy came by and soon joined the hug "Sabo has been taken and Ace wants to bring him back!" Luffy that asshole! She didn't need to know that! "So you want him back right?" is that even a question? "Of course i want!" She stood up and looked directly at our eyes "Where did they take him? I need to know if i am going for him " Wait she can be serious! It's me who should be going!!! "Wait it is my responsibility to get my brother back! Not yours!!" right? "I am the adult here Ace. If it's anyone responsibility is mine. Your safety is my responsibility too" she kneeled down and never took her gaze from us "You remember what i said to you the other day? It's not you three anymore it is us four" The four of us... "You are not alone anymore! You have me to really on" someone to really be. That is so weird ~ "I was dumb to considered it the other day okay. Is yous that i-" have been denying that we are not alone anymore. That there's someone who actually cares. That could maybe love me...even if i am a monster "Is something bothering you?" always " What would you think if Gold Roger had a Son?" fuck he did it! he really did it! Shit now she's going to...hate him. See him as a burden you's like Dadan does! This is why he has been in denial! his scared...of rejection "Hahahaha Roger with a kid? that's funny to believe!!" she was laughing! " It's not funny at all you bitch!!!" What was funny about it to start with?! "It's you's that he was a total moron! I always thought that he was oblivious of where babies come from to begging with!" why does she speak as if he has met him? "Have you met the Pirate king?!" Oh god Luffy was now super excited! "Have i? Yeah sure. He was always insisting that i joined him on his big adventure! And that was before he set sail! he was a pain in my ass" He didn't know what to say! He was in front of someone who met his dad! Like someone apart from that old geezer!! "But if Roger really had a Son then he would probably be one of the most loved people out there" She's kidding right? "You can't be serious?!" she gave him a soft smile "I am, there was something about him that made him impossible to hate. I would totally have gone with him back then but-

I already had my own adventures" Luffy was now practically flying from the excitement " You were a pirate?!" Luffy asked her and she proudly said "From the best Pirate group ever! Roger could never compare to my captain!" Wait she was a pirate? But if she was a pirate before his dad that means- "How old are you?" Sabo always told him that you should never ask a woman her age because it was rude. But to be fair when he wasn't? "I am still on my glory day's! Only one hundred and twenty five!" Wait! That's to much! Nobody cam live that long!! "So you're a grandma?" Luffy answer didn't offended her for my surprise" No. You see my race is known as immortal, but we really yous have a long time live spam! We can live like for centuries" wait! her race? " I am not human " She said so simply and directly that it didn't let Ace process anything of what she yous said!!! This conversation was so he could now if she would accept him but i got weird so fast! "What are you?" i swear i saw her eyes glow a bright blue "Who has the power to save your brother! Whatever you wanted to tell me will have to wait until we got Sabo back to us. Right now we have a rescue plan to made!".

Sabo Pov

Everyone in high town is tough that they should always be grateful at their parents. Who they are in debt for giving them the noble life. And as such a son must do what they can do to make their parents happy, even if that means being their toy. At the beginning I used to play by their rules and it was fine. Until it wasn't.

I fell on a loop hole of loneliness and hatred for the society i was born at. It got to a point were i decided to see how people outside my buble were like, and it was.. AMAZING. The nobles weren't wrong about the smell of the gray terminal! But even with that unbearable smell I felt like for the first time in my whole life, i was able to breathe with a new sense of freedom.

Since that day i never looked back and started my new life of freedom.

Made my first real friend.

Got brothers.

A family.

And then i was back to having nothing on a matter of seconds. I was back on that house were i felt like iiwas suffocating me on a matter of seconds. I was choking out of freedom, it's like dying.

"This is you're new brother Stelly"

They even got a replacement in case i failed in live. Great...yous great! Are this the people who i should call my parents? No, they aren't. But it makes me wonder what a real parent whould be like? Maybe someone like Palila. She was nice and caring. I wouldn't mind if she was our mother, but now it seems impossible right?.

He goes to his room and closes it. Right now he is not in the mood to tolerate his shitty family. He tries sleeping but it seems something so impossible to do in a place that unsettles you so much.

Then he starts hearing some nocking, and at first he thinks it is his parents. But then he notices that the nocking is not coming from the door but the window. He opens it out of curiosity and then next he knows a bird is on his face. He takes it out from his face and places him on the bed. "Hi little fella" he pet's the tinny white bird. The bird starts pulling his shirt towards the window "You want me to go with ya? You're so funny i can't fly!" if i could would have been free long ago " Wait stop!" the bird sure was strong. He actually was successfully pulling him towards the window. If he doesn't do something the bird really is going to- " You asshole!" that bird threw him out of the window! He was waiting for the fall, but before he noticed he was flying! The small bird transformed into a big white fire bird and he was on his back "Holy shit! You're a Fenix!" He has read about them on books! but as far as he knows they are mythical creatures that are not suppose to exist! But here he is on a back of one! "Wait stop i can't leave!" the bird seems to ignore hes answer's as he fly's higher towards the sky. The air hits his faces and he never have felt so free before "This is how flying feels like?" he asks without hopping for an answer. They star descending enough so he can see two tinny figures that come running towards them "Sabo!!!!" his brother's cake for him! Why? don't they see he did this for them? "Luffy let's do a jump for it!" jump for what?. He sees as the fenix gets closer to the ground and his brother's jumps as fast as they can to hold one of the fenix legs. The fenix flys higher towards the sky and then throws the three of the so he can catch them on his lap "Sabooooo" luffy hugs him tied and he corresponde the hug back "You morron! Look all the trouble we got to! You's to get you back" yeah he missed Ace and Luffy so much that he can't argue back to ace "Nobody ia gonna explain me why are we on the back of a mythical creature?" Before Ace can answer Luff starts moving his arms on the air "Is Palila! She helped us get you back!" Wait what? "Luffy you're trying to say that the Phoenix is Palila?" I can't be right? Right?! "Yeah Luffy is not kidding about it" Ace say's. And if ace says so the it must be! "This is a lot to process!" Luffy laughs at his face "Shishishi you're weird Sabo! what's so weird abou Palila being a bird" a lot of things! "It's weird you are surprised with how much you read and stuff" Ace comment makes no sense! Why should that even matter? "She has always say it to our faces but non uf us notice, that " Notice what? "Palila means you's a bird"

What a beautiful name that's for sure! "Thanks princess" he says to the Phoenix who chirps happily.

Palila takes them back to the tree house. Yeah they are still caling her like that! Ace said that she wouldn't mind and liked the name.

After hopping off Palila back on the tree house, they sought Palila transform back to a human. "I know you guys want answers but so am i" i knew this moment was coming"I am sorry for kipping this a secret for so long. For making everyone believe i was a gray terminal orphan" my brothers were putting all their attention to me "Shut up you dumbass" Ace was crying as he hugged me "I am glad you're back" Luffy came closer and joined the hug "I was afraid you weren't coming back!" i kissed his front head " I am here" Ace sent me a look "For how long? you're not going back! i am not letting you" there it was. The big elephant in the room "I was born to a noble family that now that they now will do anything to get their property back. I would love to stay but-" i can even say it, it's too much " you're scared " After not saying anything the whole time, Palila finally said something " Kids i now i have not been long enough, and i am not your..." we understand what she wants to say but- "I wouldn't mind" Ace really said that? " Palila are you going to be our mom! It would be soooo cool and then you would have a sau on our problems!" Luffy said happily. I looked at her as she came closer and kneeled at me " You're a smart little boy with a big heart. I wonder how people so sweet can be born to such people" i was crying" Would you wanna be our mom? Why do you even care?" she smiled at me "Cause i was a kid too and i know how cruel this world can be when you're so vulnerable " vulnerable, he never thought of himself as such" Kids are so easy to mold and destroy that scares me. I can't let kids that clearly need someone alone. It's okay if you guys don't want to, but i would love to be you're" i hugged her "It's okay mom we want you" Mom. We have a Mom.

And as that the family of three, became a family of four. With the stars illuminating the night the three brothers fell asleep on her mother's lap. She cried out of happiness and nostalgia that day.

On her thoughts she made a promise.

"I will protect you even if it costs me everything. I won't fail again".
