Season 1 Episode 11
Hypatius: It depends on the paragraphs that I plan to write. But yes, I'll do what I can do to make the dialouges more understandable
Despite the underwear incident already resolved, the trust between boys and girls is still not restored and it's eroding.
"We should segregate the boys' and girls' areas!" Shinohara suggested as once again, she speaks for the girls. "You should move the boys' tent and make the girls' side off-limits!"
"I don't know about this..." Yousuke replied. "Oh what the heck? Why should we listen to your biased whining!" Ike asked. "Yeah! If you want to separate our areas, you should move your tent and we're not gonna budge!" said Yamauchi as many boys agreed with them.
"We weren't asking for your help!" Kei replied and she just recovered from her ordeal. "Hirata-kun, you'll help us right?" As his girlfriend, Yousuke eventually gave in. "Alright then. But it's gonna take some time to do so."
That's when Horikita finally came out of her as, "How long has she been inside?" Mori asked Kokoro. "An hour or two ever since the start of the underwear incident I think?" She whispered back as, "I don't object the segregation of the boys and girls." Horikita spoke up regarding it. "However, when moving the tent, Hirata-kun can enter the boys' and the girls' sections right?"
"The point being?" Karuizawa asked. "I can't trust him to do all the work himself." Horikita replied. "Hirata-kun isn't like that!" Karuizawa argued. "Remember that he's still a boy." Horikita pointed out and it made Shinohara understand what she's talking about. "We can just another boy. That way, it'll double the manpower on the job and the boys can keep an eye on each other." Horikita suggested. "B-But there's no other boy we can trust besides Hirata-kun..." Karuizawa exclaimed. Sighing to herself, "There is one we can trust. After all, I've been working with him on some cases for quite a while." She then set her sight on, "Ayanokouji-kun."
And so...
"Never thought I'll be named through elimination process huh?" Ayanokouji asked as he helped pitched the tent that was moved already.
"I think it's Horikita-san's way of complimenting you. Karuizawa also agreed with her." Yousuke assured to him as he assisted him.
"If I'm not mistaken, I heard your girlfriend say that I seemed invisible, emotionless and inoffensive enough." Ayanokouji added.
"Okay...does it offend you?" Yousuke asked.
"No. What she said was actually true and I can agree with her." Ayanokouji answered.
"Never mind. I'll talk to her about it and hopefully she'll lighten down her opinion on you." Yousuke assured to him when Mii-chan called for him from the other side of the river. "Don't worry, I'll handle the rest. Go on and help her out." Ayanokouji told him. "Understood. Thanks." Yousuke then went to meet up with Mii-chan as Ayanokouji watched. Interestingly, she noticed him and waves at him while smiling. He waved back and went back to work.
By the time he's done, "Could I have a minute?" He looked behind to see Ibuki approach him. "I heard that Class D had some trouble today."
"And I guess we both had our share of problems regarding our classes." Ayanokouji spoke back.
"Yeah I can agree with you. Whatever the reason for your class problem and as a fellow girl, I find the theft of the girl's underwear unforgivable." Ibuki stated as she look down at the ground.
"Has that ever happened to your class?" Ayanokouji asked.
"No. But one time, Ishizaki talked about stealing it and smelling it lustfully. Though it was a joke, I ended up pinning his face on his desk and locking his arms for saying that." Ibuki stated.
"Well that sounds amusing and entertaining." Ayanokouji described.
"It was. For our class representative." Ibuki then switched back to the main topic. "So who do you think was responsible?" Ayanokouji said nothing but he stared at her. "You thought it was me right? Sudou's not the only one who suspects me, an outsider."
"That's true." He then looked to his left to see Sudou, Ike and Yamauchi watching her like hawks with sharp eyes. "In fact, Sudou and his peers are glaring at you right."
"Of course. If I were in your shoes, I wouldn't trust someone from another class either." Ibuki replied.
"I trust you Ibuki." She gasped and looked up at Ayanokouji. "Th-Thanks...I wasn't expecting you to say that..." Ibuki thanked him and she had a light blush on her face.
"I was just responding honestly." He replied and her blush became slightly redder. "Now I wonder why I feel like I like him? No, no. He's okay. He's just an okay classmate to me." Ibuki thought as she walked away trying not to think too much about what Ayanokouji spoke honestly.
Some time later, Ayanokouji was seen walking in the forest and he stopped at the same spot where he, Sakura and Yamauchi found Ibuki on the first day. There was no one else in the forest so he went digging on the spot with his bare bands until he found something.
Later on, he's seen sitting before the campfire by himself. "I'm all alone until dinner huh?" He talked to himself when, "It must be hard being forced to do such menial labour." Horikita spoke up as she stood beside him. "You're the one to talk. I wouldn't be struggling had you not butted in." Ayanokouji spoke back. "What was I suppose to do? I can't trust Hirata-kun and I need insurance." Horikita replied. "You should stop assuming that everyone has a devious side." Ayanokouji advised her and thought of this. "Especially a certain girl in our class who wears two masks. One is angelic and the other is demonically devious."
"That's true. I have no hidden side at all." Horikita agreed. "But most people keep their inner and outer faces separate. Just like you."
"And just like her...and that's why I'm being more cautious whenever she's around." Ayanokouji thought as Horikita continued on. "And as virtuousness and hypocrisy often walk side-by-side, I chose not to trust him."
The 2 students watch the campfire burn and crackle when, "Why don't you just confess already."
"What are you implying Ayanokouji-kun?" Horikita asked.
"You've been feeling ill ever since the start of the test haven't you?" Ayanokouji revealed. Horikita remained silent for a few second. "No, I'm fine." She replied.
"Liar." Ayanokouji stood up and took action surprising her as he grabbed her arm. She thought he was gonna do something inappropriate so she made the first move but swiftly, Ayanokouji grabbed her wrist blocking it. They stared at each other for several seconds as a scared Horikita expected it but instead, he felt her forehead. "Close to 38 degrees Celsius."
"You can tell?" She asked feeling surprised and she sighed about it. "When we met on the ship's deck, I asked you what you've been doing right?" Ayanokouji stated. Horikita still felt uneasy from her illness as she sighed again. "I said I've been in my room reading a book."
"But weren't you resting in your room because of your illness?" Ayanokouji asked.
"I was. I was reading a book while resting in my room." Horikita replied.
"So you don't intend to tell the others?" Ayanokouji asked. Horikita said nothing for a moment. "I've held out for 5 days now. If I give up now, it'll be worth nothing." She told him. Well, he's heard everything.
(Day 6 of the Test)
Unlike the first 5 days, today there's no sun, there's to be expected rainfall soon enough and right now, "I thought it might rain overnight but this is more than I expected!" Ike described the weather.
"Storm clouds are approaching from the southwest. The weather might turn ugly sooner than you expected." Horikita explained the weather pattern perfectly. "Well in that case, we better gather food before the downpour then." Ike suggested. "And I'll be gathering up a storm! Alright!" He sure is pumped to get the task done as soon as possible and he went ahead.
"Ike's become quite reliable." Ayanokouji commented. "Ever since the reveal of his outdoor experience, he's been making use of it for our class."
"You should do your best to be like him." Horikita suggested.
"Same to you. Don't forget that everyone here wants to secure a day's ration." Ayanokouji reminded her.
"Right. That goes without saying." Horikita replied back as he sighed to himself. The 2 of them then began foraging as behind them, Kikyo is watching them while Yamauchi is searching around for food when he noticed Kikyo feeling concerned. "What's wrong Kushida-chan?"
"Ayanokouji-kun and Horikita-san have always been close, haven't they? I wonder why that was." Kikyo told Yamauchi. "Hmmm...now that you mentioned it..." Yes he can agree with her and even Ibuki who's foraging with them heard it but she had no reaction as seen on her face.
At the river, "You ready?" Ike called out to Ayanokouji who nodded so, "Okay, I'm spreading the net!" He called out again as they spread it out by walking backwards expanding the net size. Ayanokouji then stopped beside Horikita. "Horikita, this is important. How are you looking after the card?" He asked. "I have it with me at all times." She replied. "When it's time to renew the spot, I do it while mixed in with students Hirata-kun has arranged." She then took a glance at Ibuki who's now collecting food. "Ibuki-san and the other students shouldn't have been able to identify me."
"You mind if I see it?" Ayanokouji requested.
"What? And right here?" A confused Horikita asked.
"It's actually easier to do it here. If we do it at our base camp, we'd stick out." Ayanokouji replied.
"I suppose but...what do you intend to do after seeing it?" Horikita asked.
"The truth is, on the first day, I saw a student holding what looked like was a key card and he was from Class A." Ayanokouji explained as he recalled Katsuragi and Yahiko outside the cave on the first day. "But I don't know if it really was a key card or not. Because I've never seen a real one up close."
"Hmmm...good point. If you're not certain about it yourself, this might not yield big results." Horikita then looked around for a second. "To play safe, I can only show you part of it."
"That's okay." Ayanokouji replied as Horikita carefully took out her card showing only half of it before Ayanokouji. He looked at it for a second and, "Well...I don't know." He replied as she kept it back. "I thought I'd be sure after I saw it, but the colour might be different from what I remember."
"Good point again. It's possible that each class could have a different color card." Horikita assumed and he can agree with her when, "Hey what this? A secret chat or something?" Yamauchi popped in as he teased them and went far by scooping up some mud and dropping the stuff on Horikita's hair. In response, she grabbed him by his arm and flipped him over with enough strength to 'accidentally' smash him onto Ayanokouji as both boys landed in the river.
"Ittai..." Yamauchi sure felt the pain.
"Damn...glad I'm not in his shoes." Ike thought with a smug smile on his face.
"Whoa...consider me impressed." Ibuki thought with respect referring to what Horikita performed.
"Horikita-san, your hair is dirty from the mud..." Kikyo brought up. "Better wash it off fast."
"True. I can't stay like this." She then got ready to leave when, "Horikita, were you trying to kill him?" A wet Ayanokouji asked her. "Had I been there, Yamauchi's head could have split open." Ignoring him, she left while the others watched.
Some time later...
Getting mud on her hair is unhygienic and good thing she found a waterfall because already, she stripped down to her undergarments and washed her hair under the waterfall. She then felt cold and shivered a bit. Good thing she didn't stay long at the waterfall as she left to change and head back to base camp.
And there, a pail with 2 fish was just placed on the ground. "Only 2? I can't believe it..." Ike wasn't pleased at the result as Yamauchi showed still feel sore from getting thrown over. Noticing him, "I can believe you survived that." Ike brought up remembering how Horikita threw him over. "Don't remind me..." Yamauchi groaned as, "Wanna take a swim? I'm all sweaty and the shower stall will probably take time after all." Ike suggested as he gestured at the girls waiting in line for the shower. "Looks like the girls from the morning foraging team have formed a long line." Ayanokouji noticed as on the line, Shinohara was first followed by Karuizawa, Satou, Haruka, Mori and Kikyo. Ibuki then approached Kikyo and Mori talking to them. "Perfect..." Ayanokouji thought.
Later on, he's seen grilling the 2 fish caught earlier for himself when Horikita approached him. "Just finished your shower?" He asked. "Yes. Got the mud off my hair but..." Horikita looked worried as she looked around a bit. "Could you come with me for a minute? It's something we can't talk here."
It now cuts to the 2 of them in the forest by themselves as, "So what is it?" Ayanokouji asked. "I'm telling you this while being aware of my mistake." Horikita began. "Mistake? Don't tell me your underwear got stolen?" Ayanokouji asked. "Well you're sort of close but something much worse." Horikita then revealed it. "The key card was stolen."
That surprised him as, "I see. I think we should keep this off the spotlight for now. We should also grasp the situation first. If the others learn about it, it'll lead to panic and confusion. Better to avoid that." Ayanokouji advised her.
"Understood. I also have 2 suspects in mind." Horikita spoke up. "It was either Karuizawa-san or Ibuki-san."
"Are things that bad between you and Karuizawa? I rarely see the 2 of you talk or interact." Ayanokouji stated.
"In ways you don't see. Although it was inevitable..." Horikita replied.
"I see. But it seems unlikely for her to steal the key card. Karuizawa's been at the front waiting in line for the shower stall." Ayanokouji explained. "I was there to see the long line."
"You sure?" Horikita asked. "Yes I can assert that she didn't steal it." Ayanokouji replied with assurance. "And that leaves Ibuki-san." Horikita concluded. "Agreed. We need to find the perfect timing to ask her directly." Ayanokouji suggested. "The worst scenario would be if she ran off with it without the whole class noticing her disappearance."
"That's true. And it'll bring panic to our class. I'm sorry." Horikita apologized and added, "Could you head back first? I'll catch up soon."
"Sure. Don't take too long." Ayanokouji then headed back first and thought of this.
What an unpredictable failure. She must want to throw it up by herself. Regardless. What happened yesterday and today, the stages have been set. Now, it's time for the finale.
As for Horikita, she sat on the ground huddled up to herself for a while when she noticed something. "Is that smoke? From our base camp?" She immediately stood up and ran her way back to base camp. When she arrived, there was a fire behind the shower stall as Sudou and Yousuke tried to use their jackets to put out the flame but it was ineffective. "Someone bring some water!" Yousuke called out as Sudou is still trying to fan the the fire away. Karuizawa heard him and went to get some water while Horikita caught sight of Ibuki and went to confront her but then, "Her facial expression..." She thought for she noticed that Ibuki was shocked at the sight of the fire. "Does that mean she didn't start the fire?" She thought for a second. Then, she went to Yousuke and Sudou as they stopped. She then carefully looked down and, "The manual is on fire?"
"Who would do something like this?" Yousuke asked when, "I got a fire extinguisher! Step back!" Ike took action and put out the fire. After that, "Alright this is serious! Who would do something like that?" Karuizawa asked the whole class. "Does that mean we have a traitor in our class trying to stir trouble?"
"Hey why are you suspecting us boys by looking at us directly while talking?" Ike asked. "It's different from the panty theft thing."
"We don't know that and maybe you started the fire to distract us!" Shinohara accused.
"Don't be a stupid idiot! We'd never do something like this! And haven't you forgotten that Ike put out the fire? This proves he didn't start it!" Sudou argued defending his friend.
"Yeah! And we won't burn anything in the forest! It's part of the penalties in the rules of the exam!" Yamauchi added supporting his friends.
"Ch-Chotte matte..." Yousuke couldn't stop his class as already, the boys and girls argued, accused and insulted each other pointlessly as from his usual tree spot, Koenji smirked and remained there resting and, "It's about to pour..." Ayanokouji noticed while looking up at the dark skies.
As the boys and girls continued their burning drama, "Hey guys! Is Ibuki-san here?" Kikyo just showed up running to them as they stopped the drama. "Wait...she's not here either?"
"Hold on...she was actually here a minute ago..." Shinohara recalled and then gasped. Karuizawa then realized it. "You think she started the fire? Then does that mean-"
"I knew it! She was a spy all along!" Sudou exclaimed punching his right fist onto his left palm. "And dammit she ran away!"
"Anyway, let's talk about it later. Hirata, tell us what to do." Ike called for him but instead, "Hirata-kun?" Karuizawa called for him because unexpectedly, he's looking down at the ground. "H-How...How could this...happen? I...I haven't done...anything wrong..." He stammered as Ayanokouji observed him as he continued his stammer. "Why...would...no...who would...do this..." There was also an ounce of darkness from his face via an unknown facial expression he's emitting when, "Hirata, Ike's talking to you." Ayanokouji spoke to him and nudged his arm surprising him. "What the...what just happened..." Yousuke asked himself and already, "And it's raining now..." He looked at the sky first as droplets of water rained down on the base camp and then, he looked at Ayanokouji as he spoke on. "You should help Ike and the others. The clothes are still out to dry. Wouldn't want any of them to get soaked by the rain."
"R-Right! We need to put them away." Yousuke replied now back to normal as he took command. "We need to get out of the rain. Girls, bring in the clothes we were drying. Boys, cover the firewood with a tarp so it doesn't get wet. Now hurry before the rain might get heavier."
All got the message and split off to the tasks. "Now then..." Ayanokouji knew that his class can handle the base camp restoration as he left heading to the forest.
At an unknown area in the forest...
It appears Horikita has found Ibuki and tried to confront her about the past incidents but instead, the 2 girls ended up having a one-on-one match as they unleashed their moves and are in the midst of it. However due to her illness, Horikita succumbed to it losing her strength thus allowing Ibuki to striker her down. As she lay on the ground too ill and weak to get up. "You're not half-bad in your moves. As a reward, I'll tell you everything that I know. One, yes I did steal the key card." She then fished it out showing it to her. "And two, I stole the underwear to create a rift in your class. Truly you're all too trustworthy enough to quarrel with one another. So pathetic if you ask me."
Upon hearing that, Horikita managed to regain some strength and stood up. She then declared her intention to report to the school regarding the theft. In response, Ibuki initiated another one-on-one but this time, Horikita held her ground struck her hard and she felt it. She then got on her knees feeling the impact. "Tell me something, was that capoeira?"
"Mochiron..." Ibuki replied. "By the way, I was sure you were involved in it. You know, the arson..." Horikita felt a bit confused as Ibuki spoke on. "The reason I talked to you in such a roundabout way was to confirm that."
This made Horikita realized it but before she could react, Ibuki regained her strength and finished her off. "Sorry but I got a busy schedule ahead of me. And this conversation is over." She then left leaving Horikita completely weak and ill.
As the rain pours on, Ibuki has arrived meeting up with an unknown student. "The item you have requested..." She then fished out the key card. "I got it." And with a smile on her face.
It's getting close to the end of the special exam. But what will the results be for the 4 classes? I sure am hyped as Season 1 in my story is near it's end and I can't wait to start on Season 2 soon.
And ever wonder what it'll be like to see Ayanokouji and Ibuki together? I think they may be perfect sparring partners. Training together to master their martial arts. Who know? But don't get me wrong, it's a thought only.
