Season 2 Episode 5

Continuing from what was revealed, "Kushida-san...how was she the traitor?"
"There shouldn't have been a way to figure out the VIP in the last test. And I can't imagine you or Hirata would have revealed that she was the VIP." Ayanokouji answered. "But what if Kushida herself revealed it?"
"Revealed it to Ryuuen allowing him to strike a deal with her to help his class win the test." Horikta concluded and was greatly shocked by this reveal. "So this is why Ryuuen boldly told me all this. I can't believe I was short sighted about Kushida-san's move!"
"For now we can't be sure about it. One possibility is that she's being paid private points from another class. Possibly Class C." said Ayanokouji.
"You think she sold our class for the points only?" Horikita asked.
"There are a number of possibilities. But only Kushida herself knows the reason." This made Horikita more worried as she asked, "Is finding that out the reason you want to bring the 2 of us together?"
"Not only that, I believe you and Kushida have a history." Ayanokouji stated and he revealed to her that one night when he eavesdropped Kikyou's true colours. She was shocked for a moment but, "Whatever you believe regarding me and Kushida-san, I don't want to talk about it."
"A class that houses a traitor can't win. If you want to lead the class, you better think about it." He then left leaving Horikita deep into her thoughts.
The next day...
"This was a pleasant surprise! You never asked me out Ayanokouji-kun." Kikyou told him.
"I suppose not." He replied.
"But watching the other classes is kind of exciting, isn't it?"
"I suppose."
"Gee you can be a little nasty though." Kikyou told him. "Because you should know that Horikita-san doesn't like me much right?"
The scene then reveals the 3 students doing the recon on the other classes.
"This was Horikita's idea." Ayanokouji stated.
"Really? What a surprise..." Kikyou exclaimed as, "But Kushida-san, I have no interest in you." Horikita spoke up now. "But I want to ask you. The one who leaked the VIP info to Ryuuen back at the last test...was it you?"
"Ha?" Kikyou appeared to look confused as Horikita kept glaring at her. "I knew she won't try to sugarcoat it. But that was harsher than I expected." Ayanokouji thought. "Well if you think you're innocent, than you don't need to admit it. What's done in the past is done." said Horikita.
"But what are you-"
"As a member of your class, I'm not sure if I can trust you from now on." Horikita stated firmly to Kikyou. "I don't know why you suspected me, but I want to work to reach Class A with the rest of you." She replied to her innocently. "You'll trust me won't you?"
She looked at her for a moment. "Very well." This made Kikyou happy as the 3 students continued their recon. "I can't wait for the Sports Festival!" She added as, "Same." said Ayanokouji. "I can agree..." said Horikita and Kikyou's much happier than just now.
(Sports Festival Day)
The day has arrived as at the sports field, it's where it'll take place. There's a football field surrounded by the track and field course and white booths set up for the classes to rest and watch the events. Speaking of which, it's starting now.
Event 1: 100 Meter Dash
"Third year girls, the 100 meter dash is about to begin. Those participating, please head to the designated starting point."
The announcement is over as it cuts to Class D in their designated booth as Sudou gave a rallying speech to the class. "Man he seems to have placed great in us." said a worried Sotomura. "Doesn't he know that there's no way we can win everything?" Yukimura also brought up.
Behind the booth, "He's like a little kid showing off in front of his crush..." Karuizawa described because during the speech, he flexed his arm muscles with a quick glance at Horikita expecting her to see his manliness while she's drinking a cup of water. Yousuke laughed a bit while Ayanokouji looked around and, "Wait...is that..."
"That over there is Sakayanagi Arisu. One of the 2 central figures in Class A and the leader of her faction. Since her and our class are in the same Team Red, it'll be good to have her." Yousuke explained. "Well it seems I've finally figured out who the leaders of Class A look like." Ayanokouji thought.
At the same time, "Hashimoto-kun. How are things proceeding?"
"Well enough I suppose princess." He replied to Sakayanagi as she asked another question. "How is Class D's performance?"
"Well mostly below average. Sudou is the only standout. He's even giving some speech to raise team morale which is pretty good. A few others also appeared to be decent like Miyake, Onodera and even Kouenji though he doesn't cooperate with his class a lot." Hashimoto answered.
"I see. Just as I anticipated." She then caught sight of Ayanokouji as she smiled about it. "Tell me something princess. In terms of our unified teams in which we're in Team Red and our opponents are Team White, which team will win in the end?" Hashimoto asked.
"Time will tell." She answered confidently.
"Aw come on, give me a better answer. You believe Team Red will win right?" He asked teasing her a bit. "Who knows?" She replied remaining confident.
Some time later...
"It's a promising start." Horikita spoke to Ayanokouji for Team Red scored 2011 points while Team White scored 1891 points.
"Yeah. Thanks to you and Sudou. You even did well against that track-and-field club ace in the Hurdles." Ayanokouji commented when they heard cheering. It appears Manabu has won the event for the boys' side as his classmates cheered for him. "The student council president is truly impressive." Ayanokouji described. "Yeah...my brother is perfect. He wins at everything he does." Horikita stated with worry as he looked at her. "Don't worry too much. Just do your best."
"Uh...where did that come from?" Horikita asked.
"I'm just trying to help you in a way that your mind needs to cleared off doubt. I guess." Ayanokouji then left leaving her surprised.
Meanwhile, "Oi Kouenji! It's go time and you're sitting it out?" Sudou questioned him as, "Ah it seems you can't do anything without me. I was begged by her to engage earnestly in the events." Kouenji began with Ayanokouji who just arrived hearing it. "Horikita did...or..."
"Unfortunately, I am terribly sorry to say this but I'm now feeling under the weather today. And I do not mean it literally. I hop you get the joke." Kouenji finalized his own status for the event as Sudou attempted to attack him but Yousuke restrained him from using violence. "The next event is soon! You'll hurt the team morale if you're not there leader!"
This calmed him down as he first kicked the support beam of the booth and issued a warning. "If anyone of you guys skip out any event, you're gonna get it from me!"
"That's uncomfortable..." said Kayano.
"Kowai..." Mii-chan added.
"I need to take a dump in the toilet." said Sotomura as he left leaving Yukimura to think deeply about Sudou's words. And then, Ayanokouji approached Kouenji. "Oh? You want to strike a deal with me like before on the island?"
"No. But have you ever wanted to see a performance?" Ayanokouji asked as he looked at him. "What kind of performance? Let me guess, are you gonna put on a show?"
"Yes. In one of the voluntary events, you'll see it and I guarantee that I'll win it for the class." Ayanokouji finalized.
"Ha! Ha! Ha! Now this I got to see! Very well, I don't know which voluntary event you'll participate but I will also do the same in that! And since you guaranteed that you'll win in that event, I look forward to it." Kouneji then smirked and took a nap by lying on the bench.
Event 3: Topple the Pole
First year boys are in position as in Class A, Katsuragi, Yahiko and Machida are in position while the rest held onto the pole. Yup, they're on the defense.
In Class B, Kanzaki has planned an impressive defense with him and Shibata in position while the rest held onto the pole.
In Class C, Ryuuen, Albert, Ishizaki, Komiya, Reo and the other boys are doing stretches and going on the attack.
And finally, all the boys from Class D are in position to attack.
The horn blared and Sudou lead the attack. "Oh crap. Guys! Cut Sudou off!" Kanzaki ordered as some of his peers and some from Class C cut him off. "What are they planning..." Sudou wondered when, "Bad news Ken!" Ike pointed from behind as Katsuragi and his classmates are trying to stop Albert from toppling their pole as, "How much did this guy eat to become this big?!" Katusragi thought to himself when, "STAND OFF!" Albert threw him aside and those trying to hold him off as Sudou watched in shock when he got kicked down onto the ground. "What the hell?!" He then saw Ryuuen smiling in satisfaction as, "Nothing personal." All pinned Sudou onto the ground with their feet and, "CLONK!"
The pole has been toppled as, "VICTORIOUS!" Albert declared loudly as, "Albert! Albert! Albert!" His peers cheered for him as Ryuuen went to meet up with his class. He then fist bump Albert as the class continued cheering.
"That bastard cheated! It's against the rules!" Sudou grumbled in anger as, "You alright?" Ayanokouji asked offering his hand but Sudou slapped it away and stood up. "That jackass cheated and attacked me forcefully! I'll beat the living shit out of him once I get the chance!"
"You can't do that. You'll get in trouble and cost us the event." Yousuke warned him. "So you're saying they're okay to attack us?" Sudou asked. "It'll likely be taken as an accident during the play." Ayanokouji stated when Class A approached them. "Sorry for our performance in the defense." Katsuragi apologized. "It's alright, both of our classes made mistakes." Yousuke replied. "Thanks...and to think that big guy did all the work in toppling the pole. I mean, he threw all of us out of his way!" said Takomoto for most of the boys in Class had minor bruises for being thrown off or aside during the event. "On one hand, we lost. But on the other hand...WHY THE HELL DID THAT GLOOMY DEFECT DO NOTHING! HE'S THE MAIN REASON WE LOST!"
A pissed off Yahiko charged to attack him but Machida and Morishige grabbed onto his arms. "3 times you picked a fight with him at the cruise ship and yet you still won't let go of your hatred?" Katsuragi asked shaking his head as he ordered those restraining him to bring him back to their booth. Yahiko already withdrew his plotted attack as he calmly got escorted back and Class D was most surprised by this.
And then, something happened as the boys shifted their attention to Horikita and Class C, Minori Kinoshita on the ground with injured ankles. "I'll get the first aid kit!" said Sudou. "I'll tell the teachers!" said Yousuke as both boys split up. Ayanokouji just watched the scene as, "Is it true you did not do anything during the event?" Katsuragi asked him. "We've already lost even before it began. You've seen it, Albert is the powerhouse for his class thanks his size and strength. He's a one man army enough to seize the victory." Ayanokouji explained. "Mmmm...your sharp instincts are very true. Now I understand. Oh well, rest up if you have to." Katsuragi told him as they left the field.
A while later, "Does it hurt?"
"It won't affect my performance. If I can just rest it a little-" That's when Ayanokouji bent down and grabbed Horikita's ankle and she felt the pain. "This will absolutely affect your performance."
"And I'm more concerned about Kinoshita-san right now."
"The Class C girl that you collided with?"
"Yeah. But I can't help that she did it on purpose." Horikita assumed as Ayanokouji continued staring at her until she faced him. "Regardless, you should keep your focus on your own events. I'll be fine."
"I heard you talked to Kouenji." He brought up. "And I heard you made a guarantee that convinced him to participate. For now depending on his cooperation with us." She stated as she stared at the ground. "Regarding your injury, you shouldn't push yourself too hard." Ayanokouji advised her. "I'll be fine. I'll give it my best even if I have to limp or crawl." Horikita affirmed herself to him.
Event 8: Piggyback Joust
"I don't know why but did you all notice that the Class C girls are targeting Horikita?" Ike asked.
"Must be Ryuuen planning all this!" A frustrated Sudou exclaimed as on the field, Horikita, Kayano, Chiaki and Shinohara are on the ground defeated and bruised thanks to the Class C girls. This made Sudou most worried.
So later on as Horikita rested, he approached her. "Um...how's your leg?"
"It's fine. Can I help you?" She asked.
"Oh well...leave it to me! I'll fight twice as hard in your place!" Sudou declared.
"I see...glad to hear." She replied making him more hyped as, "Ken! You're up!"
"Coming!" Sudou then left to join his peers.
And so...
Now the piggyback joust for the boys has just begun as Katsuragi, Yahiko, Machida and Morishige are in one team going on the defense avoiding some Class B teams while Sudou, Ayanokouji, Yousuke and Miyake found themselves surrounded by Class C.
"Heh. Playtime Albert!" Ryuuen ordered as Albert struck Sudou on the face thrice making him stumble and as a result, Ryuuen grabbed Yousuke's headband winning it for his class.
Actually, his entire class got all the headbands from Class D.
It started out well with Sudou cooperating with Class A but...he fell for Ryuuen's provocations and lost his cool making him lose the event.
"That son of a bitch cheated again like before at the pole toppling event!" Sudou complained. "There's no point in reporting him." Ayanokouji told him. "I know that okay!" He replied back as he grit his teeth in anger over Ryuuen's provocations and the class losses that they're going through.
After that, "It seems we've completely lost our early lead." Ayanokouji thought as the scoreboard shows that Team White caught up fast with a total of 7236 points. A bit more to overtake Team Red which has 7245 points.
"Ne Kiyotaka, are we in trouble?" Karuizawa asked while approaching him.
"Why do you ask and...did you just call me by my given name?" He asked feeling a bit surprised.
"I've started calling Hirata-kun, Yousuke even though we're not officially dating despite our class still thinking we are. So I figured that I'd do the same to you." Karuizawa explained. "And don't forget, if Ichinose-san can call you by your given name and you're okay with it, so can I! Okay?"
This made Ayanokouji a bit shy when he heard Karuizawa mention Honami to him as, "Wow...Horikita-san sure is in bad shape."
"They're targeting her after all." He replied to her and she suddenly thought of this. "You think it's not a coincidence that she keeps getting paired up with tough opponents?"
"Correct. And it's not just her, our class participation list was purposely leaked." He explained on.
"Leaked to Class C right? Especially to Ryuuen. Something tells me that our suspected traitor has done some damage already." said Karuizawa as he nodded at her and they set their sight on him. He's resting from the joust event with Albert on guard duty. "Ryuuen's trying to do 2 things."
"What are they Kiyotaka?"
"One is to pit powerhouses like Sudou against his weakest players and everyone else against someone just slightly superior to rack up overall wins. The other...is to crush Horikita."
"No way...because of the leak, the strong people in our class got marked by his class..." Karuizawa realized as she looked at the scoreboard. "Class D is probably in last place now right? Do we have any chance left to win?"
"Win? I had no intention of winning from the start." Ayanokouji revealed surprising her. "The most important thing right now is not to do anything. Our goal in the Sports Festival is to lose as much as possible. That will empower us later."
"What in the world..." Karuizawa doesn't understand as she set her sight on Class D resting in their booth. "Ne Kiyotaka, you noticed something in our class now?" He shifted his gaze for a moment. "Yeah. Our suspected traitor..."

...
...
...
...
"Where is she at this timing?"
Speaking of which, "I can't stand Ryuuen's cheating ass anymore!" Sudou vented out in anger as he kicked a pail and began running off for a confrontation when Yousuke ran and blocked him. "You need to calm down! If you attack him, then everything will be over for our class!"
"Shut up Hirata! I'm the leader for the Sports Festival so do as I say!"
"I know that...but look around you, how many people will acknowledge you with the way you're behaving now?" Yousuke asked strictly as Sudou looked behind to see the majority of the class looking away with doubt. "Hey what's with you guys? I'm busting my ass for this class!"
"Are you really?" Unexpectedly, a fearless Yukimura stepped forth. "I think you just want to hog the spotlight and prove to everyone how strong and amazing you are. Also, I believe that the only thing you care about right now is to win and nothing else. Isn't it?"
"You son of a-" Sudou got ready but, "Enough of this Sudou! We're counting on you so please look at the bigger picture!" Yousuke begged him but, "Didn't I tell you to shut up? Because if you don't, you'll taste my fist like this!" And in front of the class, Sudou punched Yousuke with a right hook sending him flying onto the ground. All gasped at this but at the same time, "What the hell is wrong with you!?" An angered Yousuke asked as he got up and suddenly punched Sudou back. "So you wanna fight huh? Bring it on!" The 2 boys got their fists ready as their class watched in worry. "Kirai ne...why would you do this Sudou-kun..." A worried Kayano asked herself when, "What's all this? What happened?"
All looked to see their teacher show up as Yousuke and Sudou who were about to throw punches at each other immediately stopped. "Nothing sensei! We're just fine!" Yousuke spoke to her with Sudou agreeing with him. "It doesn't look that way to me...but I won't pry any further so you better not do anything against the school rules." Chabashira-sensei gave the boys a warning and left.
After that, "You know what? I quit! Screw this Sports Festival! Do what you like and don't come looking for me!" Sudou then stormed off as, "Wait! What will we do without you Ken!?" Ike called out. "Ah let that sore loser go." said Yukimura as Ayanokouji looked behind to see Horikita feeling worried.
Just then, announcement time.
"After a 50 minute break period, we'll begin the afternoon events."
It's over now as Ayanokouji went to talk to Horikita who noticed him. "Masaka...you're going to ask me to bring Sudou-kun back, aren't you?"
"If you already know that, you don't have to ask." said Ayanokouji. "If he doesn't come back before the afternoon events, we'll have no hope of recovery."
"He won't listen to me. And I'm in no condition to show understanding to others."
"Then how long do you intend to remain utterly useless?"
"What do you mean by that?"
"Exactly what I said, you're useless so I called you useless, that's all."
"I resent that. For I'm much more useful than those incompetents around me!" Horikita stated. "I just keep suffering these unfortunate and unlucky accidents."
"Then tell me, do your injuries and Class D's current predicament really strike you as a coincidence?" Ayanokouji asked.
"Don't insult me! Even I know it's probably some scheme on Ryuuen-kun's part!" Horikita defended herself. "But...that doesn't mean I can do anything about it."
"You're missing your chance to acquire a weapon." Ayanokouji tipped her with surprise. "What I mean is this, there are limits to how well you'll be able to fight alone in the future. In fact, you're helpless on your own at this very moment. That's why you need a weapon at your disposal. Like Sudou who could be an indispensable part of your arsenal. Use him as I have used you."
Horikita stared at him with deep thought after hearing his words. "What should your priority be at this moment? Praying that your wound heals or reclaiming the weapon that can be part of your arsenal? You can think about the rest over yourself." Ayanokouji then got ready to leave when, "Oh, I almost forgot." He went back to her and whispered something to her and left surprising her as she remained deep in her own thoughts.
It now cuts to the students having lunch as, "So there's a traitor that purposely leaked our participation list to Ryuuen?" Yousuke asked as he ate his bento. Ayanokouji nodded as Karuizawa ate her sandwich while listening to them. Only these 2 know who the traitor is. "But if you knew there'd be a traitor, why did you submit the leaked submission form?" Yousuke asked as he ate a chicken karaage.
"Dunno. Horikita told me to do it so you might wanna ask her." Ayanokouji replied.
"And where is she right now exactly?" Karuizawa asked as she finished her sandwich and took out an onigiri which is part of her lunch. He looked at her for a second. "Doing something that only she can do." He answered.
"By the way, who's the traitor?" Yousuke asked.
"Not sure. For now." Ayanokouji lied.
Just then, "Kiyotaka!" All looked to see Honami with, "Ha? Is that a lunch bento?" Karuizawa asked. "Mmm! This morning, I messaged Kiyotaka asking him if he'll like to have lunch with me and he agreed!" Honami revealed with a smile. "And let me guess, you 2 are sharing the lunch bento?" Karuizawa asked. "Yes we are." Ayanokouji revealed stunning them both as Honami sat down beside him and opened the lunch bento. There's rice, sushi, tempura, vegetables, teriyaki chicken with sauce and torikatsu.
"Wow, it's enough for the 2 of you." said Yousuke as Honami handed Ayanokouji a pair of chopsticks and they shared the bento lunch. Ayanokouji really enjoyed it as, "This is pretty good. You cooked it yourself?"
"Mochiron!" She replied as she picked up a piece chicken teriyaki. "Open wide."
"Nani?" He was confused but opened his mouth and she fed him the piece. Some students having their lunch near them were watching them and gasped at this.
"Well...that was unexpected...can I also do it?" He asked as she opened her mouth. So he fed her a small piece of torikatsu and she ate it. "You know...I often wonder how you can cook all this..." He asked. "Because I wanna learn how to cook."
"You do? Sure! I can teach you!" Honami replied as she ate a sushi when, "There you are Honami-chan! Mind if we join you?" Mako had just arrived with another male student as they sat beside them. ""Sup bro! My name's Watanabe Norihito!"
"Oh...hey Nori." Ayanokouji greeted as, "Whoa, you called him Nori for short?" Mako asked as he laughed. "Sorry..." Ayanokouji apologized. "It's alright bro! I don't mind being called Nori for short. I mean, yeah my name can be long but I'm smooth with how anyone addresses me! We're cool right?" Norihito had his fist ready for a fist bump so Ayanokouji gave him that. "Yeah! Now we're friends!"
"I guess..." Ayanokouji thought as Honami and Mako smiled over the new friendship. Then, his phone rang. "I need to answer it." He left immediately as the 5 students bonded together while having lunch.
And so...
"You called me Horikita?"
"Yeah Ayanokouji. You were right when you whispered to me to be wary of Kushida-san and the fact that she was not around for most of the event."
"What happened?" He asked.
"She approached me and told me that Kinoshita-san's injury is serious and brought me to the nurse and there, Ryuuen accused me of crippling her." She revealed.
"What else?" He asked.
"Ryuuen threatened to report this to the school with Kinoshita agreeing with him. Kushida begged for another solution and he said he'll drop everything if I pay him a million private points." She explained.
"You refused right? You only have half of the points from the deal he proposed." He stated.
"Yeah. But it was careless move because he changed the deal. Instead of paying him, he wanted me to grovel before him."
"Did you?"
"No way! Because he'll wait for my answer after the sports festival. But still, I fell into his trap..."
"What about Kushida?"
"She didn't do much but she did appease Ryuuen a bit though-"
"Did you ever think that Ryuuen sent her to look for you?" Ayanokouji asked and it shocked her.
"Is she working with him to destroy our class?" She asked.
"No. It's not possible. We were targeted a lot by them but some of our classmates, those who are physically fit like you get marked the most." He stated.
There was silence for a moment. "Now I know that she'll do something like this from before. You are also right about one thing. Though I don't know much details about it, Kushida and I do have a history."
"Ryuuen's goal might be crushing our class but his true goal is to discredit you and with the help from Kushida."
"Agreed. I also believed that he purposely crippled Kinoshita-san to claim the false accusation against me."
"My thoughts exactly. Kinoshita may have collided on you purposely but I observed that the injuries are not seriously. Only Ryuuen is strong enough to worsen his classmate's injury." Ayanokouji concluded everything and, "Anything else?"
"Yeah...I met my brother...he somehow expected to hear from me so...I did admit my incompetence and stuff and...he walked...away."
"He knows you're doing your best to change. He can see it."
"When this is over, Kushida-san's got a lot to answer to me. But first, I have something to do."
The call ended as Ayanokouji closed his eyes knowing what she's going to do. "You have passed Horikita. Well done." He thought to himself as he went back to resume his lunch time.
So in the recent LN, the new character, Norihito Watanabe is introduced. So I introduced him early in this story! According to data, he's in Class 1-B and has a crush on Mako Amikura.
Action packed is the Sports Festival with wins, losses and some interesting changes. Like the one interaction between Ayanokouji and Kouenji. So which voluntary event will they go for? Things are gonna get more exciting...
