Someone spotted him.

The Dark Knight figured it out through the gunshot and the accommodating bullet that whizzed by him.

!

Letting go of his cape and going into a dive, the Dark Knight quickly grappled onto a rooftop.

The grapple connected.

Tension and strain was transferred onto his right shoulder, gravity pushing him down while the grapple brought him up.

Another bullet wizzed by.

It missed, cause being the lack of contact which usually felt like being hit with a hammer.

He climbed, rolling with his shoulder to deal with the momentum.

He got into a crouch.

The world turned dark blue.

I need to locate the shooter.

The Dark Knight looked to the right.

Nothing.

To the left.

No shooter.

Behind him.

Hm.

Then downwards.

There.

There on the ground, were a group of people.

9 individuals to be exact

With Detective Vision highlighting 2 gunmen in orange.

?

"Hmm."

Slowly, crouching to the edge of the roof, peeking slightly, The World's Greatest Detective zoomed in using the Bat suit's systems.

The Bat was shocked.

Those aren't automatics, much less high-powered rifles.

They were blunderbusses.

"Hmm."

The type of ammunition used by Blunderbusses isn't something to be concerned of, the Batsuit's built to be abused by ammunition from high powered rifles, even A.P. rounds.

The Batsuit then took three direct strikes from a TN-1 enhanced Bane and the armor held.

"Hmm."

The gunmen weren't an issue, however the group was.

I can't risk being followed into a library, that'd just slow me down, and a brawl in a public space could harm innocents.

And I can't these let these thugs run free on the streets.

Of course, while the Dark Knight did lack information, a group of men running around, armed with guns and tools, not being stopped by this city's local law enforcement (if there was one) , was a clear sign of something wrong.

Speaking of said law enforcement, during the short glide, fires and smoke everywhere were emitting all over the city

A citywide riot was the conclusion of the Dark Knight. (With what he's seen so far).

Martial Law wasn't out of the question, though whether it was declared was still ambiguous to the Dark Knight.

Whatever the case, they need to be stopped, and he knew how.

2 Batarangs and theatricality.

The Dark Knight opened his utility belt, bringing out 2 batarangs and 1 smoke pellet.

the Dark Knight readied himself.

First throwing the smoke into the group.

Accented cries of surprise & shock were consequences of that action.

Then the world turned dark.

Aiming two Batarangs at the orange highlighted gunmen, the Batarangs flew.

Both landing in the gunman's hand.

"ME 'AND!"/"ARGGHHHH!"

The Dark Knight leapt off the roof top, going in for a glide kick on a man holding a sickle.

"Oof!"

x1

Then leaping into the air with a great jump, landing on the man's stomach, placing a fist onto the Man's rather heavily bearded face, knocking him out cold.

One out of 9.

x2 – Ground takedown.

Turning around, there was a man behind him swatting away the smoke with a torch in his hand, on his left, a two-handed axe that was clearly heavier than the lean thug.

He fired the Batclaw.

"OUGH?!"

Pulling the thug towards him, the Dark Knight slammed his bicep into the thug's face, followed by a hard slam into the street, knocking him out.

Two out of nine.

x3– Batclaw Slam

Smoke's dissipating, I might actually face a challenge.

The Dark Knight then saw a thug holding what looked to be a poor excuse of a shield on his left wrist, leaping into the air, cape in hand, shocking the thug who blocked just in time.

The Dark Knight used then climbed onto the shield, startling the thug, shouting an accented "Ah?" jumping off it.

The thug couldn't scream his accented cry out in time for what happened next.

THOOG.

x4 – Aerial Attack

Six left.

The thug knocked out instantaneously.

"AGHHH! ME 'AND!!! SOMEIN! TUC IN ME 'AND"

The gunman.

Leaping a great distance into the air, the Dark Knight grabbed his cape.

It connected with the gunman's face, stunning him.

Starting first with a spinning back fist, ensuring the gunman is dazed, a series of blows were given to the man's body.

THOOK

THOOK

THOOK

THOOK (x5)

THOOK (x6)

THOOK (x7)

THOOK (x8)

Then with a shout of effort, the Dark Knight kneed the thug into the abdomen.

Hard.

x9 – Beatdown Finisher

Five left. The Smoke dissipated entirely.

Revealing the Bat in all his Dark glory.

Fear clutched into the hearts of the thugs, various reactions followed.

"WHA IS 'THA?"

"IS A BEAST THAT WOT!"

"AYBE IS A HUNTER!"

"JUST KILL EM!"

Then the Dark Knight heard a mechanical sound.

The Blunderbuss, someone picked it up.

Scanning the area for another gunman (while catching a heavily telegraphed swing of a thug holding another sickle, the thug was rewarded with an elbow to the face)

x10 – Counter

He then saw the thug loading a blunderbuss, fearfully, hastily, he failed to load it three times now.

In under 2 seconds the Dark Knight then:

Crawl-jumping to the armed thug, surprise etched his features at the speed of the Dark Knight.

"AH-" the thug screamed with an accent.

The Dark Knight grabbed the barrel, pointing it upwards.

"PLE-" then begged with an accent.

Followed by a palm to the nose, depressing it..

"OUGH" cried with an accent.

Then prying the blunderbuss, he kneed it in half.

x10 – Disarm & Destroy

Finally, a punch to the face, knocking the thug out.

x11

Four left.

The Dark Knight turned around, his teeth grit, in a combat stance, he then spoke.

"GIVE UP!"

Fearful silence met him.

"RUSH IM!" A thug fearfully ordered.

He batclawed the thug in response, bicep-slamming the thug's face, followed by a hard slam to the chest.

x12 – Batclaw Slam

Three

The remaining thugs started backing away in fear.

I can't let them leave.

Another Batclaw shot.

"ARGH!"

x13 – Batclaw Slam

Two

"AWAY! AWA- ACK!"

x14 – Batclaw Slam

One

"MERCY! MERCY MISTAH UNTE-"

"Oof!"

x15 – Batclaw Slam.

Zero.

It was over.

That was a good warmup.

I should do a head count.

Looking around, he counted.

all 9 were unconscious. spread out and with multiple broken bones.

He then noticed something.

Their clothing… these look working class clothes.

One thug had a top hat.

Another a long duster coat that reached to the thighs.

One even had a Stetson hat.

"Hmm…"

The Dark Knight put this information away for now, seeing no use for it currently.

I should move on.

The Dark Knight grunted in satisfaction, grappling away back to a rooftop.

Shoulder rolling to absorb the momentum, the Dark Knight began to sprint off to the other edge of the roof.

Then with a-

Wait.

The Dark Knight stopped.

It's morning…

He looked at the sun.

He growled.

Careless, and sloppy, no wonder those men spotted me, my silhouette is obvious in the sun. And the shadow I cast while gliding-

Another growl.

I failed to keep that in mind, and suffered the consequences of it.

A huff escapes his mouth.

I should stick to the grapple, my silhouette won't be as large, and I'll just be a grey blur at most.

Pulling out his grapple, the Dark Knight aimed at another rooftop, firing.

Off to continue the search for information.
