For more than 15 years, Kohona City did not even hear about the birth of a typhoon. Maybe it was climate change, maybe it was a new cycle. The announcement of the typhoon was made two days ago, but the heavy rain already took over. The capital of the neighboring state, Ame City, was in an emergency state. Many volunteers in Konoha city were called for help. Temari No Sabaku was one of the city coordinators in Konoha for "Save and Sound". She was naturally called for the coordinator of emergency support provided to the Kono Homeless center. She has been volunteering for almost 2 years with this NGO. Coming from Kaze no Kuni, a country where inter-communities conflict was the routine and poverty the norm, she wanted to find somehow a way to give back. With light blonde hair and her two low ponytails, she was easily recognizable. One of her most loved features by the opposite sex was her curves. With her sun-kissed skin and voluptuous curves, everybody would agree they would not mind spending some extra late night shift with her. And this, Shikamaru Nara, one of the top most desirable bachelors of Konoha City, would not deny it. He won't publicly confess his strange attraction to that crazy girl.
Shikamaru was also coming to the Homeless center tonight. Not willingly. Shikamaru Nara is what we call an "old money golden spoon fed bachelor" OMGSFB in short. His dad was involved in politics on the military strategy side and his mom was one of the advisors of the ministry of Justice, as a prominent lawyer. Doing charity or helping others was somehow mandatory to keep his clan's reputation. So today, under the cold heavy rain, Shikamaru was sent to support the Kono Homeless center. That Saturday however turned upside down when he found Temari running left and right, hand full of boxes and bags on the left side of the emergency admission entrance. Because of the rain or the sleet, Temari's clothes were already wet and probably ice cold, that silly girl didn't even wear a raincoat. Shikamaru finally decided to get out of his parked car.
Wanting to greet his classmate, he started to walk toward her. While doing so, he saw Temari, carrying more than 10 boxes full of medication, stepping into a large puddle and starting to fall. Shikamaru yelled her name while running toward her to prevent the accident. He barely managed to support her by grabbing her around her waist, preventing a bad injury for back. Temari's belly skins into him, her scent suddenly reminding him of their first few encounters. She was ice cold but the young Nara felt burning hot.
First year of law firm. He is sitting next to Hyuga. Old money circle. At the end of the lecture, the light felt dimmer on his eyelid. Just her voice, her scent: "If you don't care about that, just don't bother me. I will do the rest." Before he had time to raise his head, she was already gone. Firm, serious and mysterious. That is what best defines Temari. Indeed, Shikamaru couldn't care less, he simply shoved the paper into his bag and left.
No Sabaku was unreadable. The young Nara always wondered whether she had any feeling, whether she could even experience joy. He was not himself the best at that but at least he was nagging and complaining. Temari was always first, to arrive in class, to leave the class, first to raise her hand for a question and first in the whole year ranking. Shikamaru actually was the youngest of his whole year. While Neji jumped one year ahead in secondary school, Shikamaru had to do it twice. Originally the doctor wanted him to skip the whole secondary school to attend middle school, however, Shikamaru wanted to stay with his friend Choji for one more year at least. His parents agreed knowing how lazy their son was, preferring keeping him enthusiastic about going to school to see his friend. Temari on the other hand was one year late. Nobody really asked her why, or at least Shikamaru was not aware of her story. Even though he had no interest whatsoever in the girls constantly whining around him about how hard the lecture was, how much they would need his help, Temari always remained quiet. Coming from two affluent families, many people always wanted to get close to Shikamaru. Was this because of the vile intention of most of the people trying to get close to him or purely his lack of interest in others, Shikamaru never had new friends. His only friends were all from kindergarten but also all family friends. Maybe that is an old money thing. Nonetheless, he started wanting to grow a new friendship with his Class rep.
It was actually during their 4th year, one incident that raised Nara's attention toward the blonde girl. Each year, Temari and him were always first and second. With only limited cordial contact, they started to develop a small routine for the monthly class updates. They would meet one week before the last week of the month to share thoughts on the different lectures, assignments, exams and grading. Then, it was Temari's responsibility to share it with the uni administration and Shikamaru to send an email to the class maillist with the updates. That month, they were both called to participate in the disciplinary audience of a classmate. Kamelia was caught cheating and risked expulsion. For the first time, he saw Temari under a new light. She fervently defended her classmate, mentioning special situation calling for special measures. According to the class Representative, Kamelia was also a scholarship student with honors. Because she had regular meetings with all scholarship students of her year, Temari was aware of the personal struggles of her classmate. Having to take a double shift at work to cover for her son's nanny, she had extreme limited time to review the whole lecture she missed. While she did condemn her act, Temari vouched for Kamelia's redemption. After multiple back and forth, the decision was released. Kamelia stays. However, Temari's intervention remained secret. During our update session, she clearly stated, "the committee generously gave Kamelia a second chance" acting as if the sub rep was not aware of what happened. Knowing Shikamaru's character, the class Rep knew he would only mention what she said. That behavior made the Nara heir realize that there was more behind her shell than the first class pretty and perfect nerd.
From that moment onward, the smart quiet guy at the back of the auditorium started to stare at the splendid top student.
"Temari, are you OK?" asked the young Nara. Still holding her, Shikamaru only noticed how frail she is, was she that skinny all those years? Why does she look so pale and fragile? Temari skin was so cold, which started to worry Shikamaru "I think I might have sprained my right ankle. Could you help me grab my phone? I will call my brother." asked the blonde lady. Wanting to keep their proximity, Shikamaru tightened his embrace around her waist. Without permission, Shikamaru delicately lifted Temari, leaving her speechless. Carrying her to her bag, he let her pick it up and continued his journey to his parked car. He unlocked the passenger door using the car keys and asked Temari to open the door. Trying to get off his hand, Temari attempted to put her left foot to the floor. She had never been that close to him, that close to his face. She was starting to feel awkward and started to feel judging stares around her. "Just open the damn door! Don't nag" requested the Nara heir. Following his instruction, Temari opened the door still securely held by her savior. With his help, she maneuvered her way to sit on the passenger seat. Getting in the car from the driver's side, Shikamaru promptly switched on the car heating and put his jacket on Temari's chest. He unintentionally touched one of her hard cold nipples and immediately removed his hand. To break the awkward situation, Shikamaru put his hand on the wheel and declared we were going to Kono Hospital. His tone was clear, he had no time to deal with Temari's dominant character today but he also did not dare to look at her fearing to do something that could be misinterpreted. Maybe it was because she was tired, maybe because she felt so cold, or was it the pain, but Temari remained silent. She looked at Shikamaru's face on the side. He was attractive. A lot of girls already told her that but she thought they were only attracted by his wealth. But after a second thought, she seemed convinced as well, he was attractive. Shikamaru was not the type to be boasting around about the amount of money he had or name dropping. He was humble and it was also attractive to see that.
The engine started and drifted away, leaving only curious whispers. Was it because the lazy bachelor was driving one of the 3 most unique Aston Martin in the country, was it because of the shock from Temari's fall, or was it because nobody expected the Bachelor to carry Temari, the mysterious bossy law student volunteer?
