Peter was laying against the window just looking as he was on a school bus, going towards a facility named Oscorp for their school field trip.
In the back of the bus, one of Peter's classmates, Jessica Jones, watched Peter. She and him actually had a few classes together and even worked on a few projects together. Over the small time she got to know him, she liked his caring, charming attitude. How he was smart but never gloated about it, unlike some other guys in her class.
"What do you think will happen if you keep staring at him?" Jessica's friend Carol Danvers asked as she sat across the seat next to Jessica.
"What?" Jessica asked.
"Come on, if you want to actually get with the guy, you should at least talk to him." Carol stated. "I mean, the poor guy's just sitting there all alone. He has no friends, why don't you go over and talk to him?"
Jessica sighed and knew her friend was right, but before she could think of it, the bus came to a stop, and they ended up outside Oscorp. The bus started to evict everyone so they can have a tour of the facility.
"I'll talk to him after the trip." Jessica promised Carol as they also departed the bus.
Peter looked around the labs in amazement at the experiments that are in current development. They even had a stand on experimental spiders.
"There are over 32,000 known species of spider in the world." The tour guide said as she led them through the room. "They're in the order Araneae divided into three suborders."
Peter was listening for a moment as he kept up and looked around, being followed by Jessica who walked up to him.
"Hey, Peter." Jessica greeted him.
"Oh, uh...hi, Jessica." Peter greeted as he rubbed his eye, fixing his contact lenses. "What's up?"
"Just thought it'd be nice to hang with someone who might be able to explain what Yeh hell they're talking about." Jessica explained, keeping her true intentions to herself for now.
"Oh, sure." Peter supposed.
"Arachnids from all three groups possess varying strengths which help them in their constant search for food." The guide explains and gestures to the one container. "For example, the Delena spider, family Sparassidae, has the ability to jump to catch its prey."
The spider then did exactly as explained as it jumped from one twig to another in its cage.
"The rest of its family must be so proud." Jessica muttered to Peter, who chuckled at the remark.
"Next, we have the net web spider." The guide said as she kept going. "Family Filistatidae, genus Kukulcania. It spins an intricate funnel shaped web whose strands have a tensile strength proportionally equal to the type of high-tension wires used in bridges."
The spider was dragging its prey up a web on the top of the wood.
Peter was heading to take a picture of the whole display when he was bumped into by Flash Thompson.
"Hey." Jessica got his attention, immediately pushing Thompson away. "Leave him alone."
"What? I'm just having some fun, Jones." Thompson backed away casually. "Didn't mean to upset your boyfriend."
He then walked away, getting Jessica fueled up and ready to punch him when Peter of all people stopped her.
"It's...it's not worth it, Jessica." Peter assured her and they moved on.
"This grass spider hunts using a set of reflexes with nerve-conduction velocity so fast that some researchers believe it borders on precognition. An early awareness of danger."
"I don't get why you put up with that guy." Jessica told Peter, eyeing Thompson.
"Well, what's the alternative? I tell on him, then he takes it out on me. It feels better to deal with a push and shove than his full rage." Peter explained to him.
"...transfer RNA to encode an entirely new genome combining the genetic information from all three spiders into these 15 genetically designed super-spiders." The guide gestured to the fifteen containers that were on display when Jessica noticed an empty one.
"There's fourteen." Jessica stated, gesturing to the empty container. "This one's empty."
"Oh, so it is." The guide didn't notice. "I guess the researchers are working on that one."
Not knowing that the spider was currently above the entire group and was crawling down on a web toward the group.
"False advertising." Jessica stated to Peter, earning another chuckle.
"You know, I've never seen you to be this funny." Peter admitted.
"You've only ever seen me stuck in a classroom full of idiots." Jessica stated as she looked around to make sure nobody heard her. "You should know what that's like. You're basically the only genius here."
The group then moved on and Peter tried to put together what she just said, no idea what to make of it. To him, it was almost like she was flirting with him.
But that's impossible.
Right?
But before he had time to even process everything, one moment changed everything. One circumstance changed everything throughout time and space.
He got bit.
A wave of pain exited from Peter as he reached behind his neck and smacked the position of where it came from. Reaching behind him, he pinched the part where it hurt only to find nothing there.
Following the others on, Jessica watched his spaz and couldn't feel like there was something wrong.
"Peter, you okay?" Jessica asks.
"I...I don't feel so good." Peter said as he started to slur and fall over, immediately getting caught by Jessica.
"Oh god, Peter!" Jessica cried as she caught him. "Come on, let's get you out of here." She then started to drag him somewhere that he could lay down.
Quickly getting to the lobby of the room, she laid Peter down on the chairs and used his phone to contact his Uncle Ben: his obvious emergency number.
"Hi? Hello?" Jessica said as someone on the other end answered. "Hi. This is Jessica Jones, a friend of Peter's. I think he's sick."
Looking over, she watched as Peter was struggling to stay still and his entire head was starting to hurt. His entire body was changing, morphing. Giving him incredible abilities.
This was the birth of Spider-Man.
But not only that, but also the birth of Jessica Jones.
DAYS LATER:
Jessica was going through school like normal when she looked and saw that Peter was heading for his locker. He seemed to look a lot better than the last time she saw him, able to stand up on his own now for starters.
Going about her normal school day, she met up with Peter in lunch. "Hey, you okay?"
"Oh, hey, Jessica." Peter greeted in shock. "Didn't see you there."
"You good?" Jessica asked again, him being the only one she actually cares about in this school. "Last I saw you, you looked like you were dying."
"Oh, right, yeah, I'm actually pretty good." Peter assured her. "I just needed some rest."
"What happened?" Jessica wondered.
"I'm not...not entirely sure." Peter admitted. "It was like my entire body was on fire. I was hearing you, then I-" he was explaining when he smacked his tray table, immediately sending it flying into the air.
Jessica and Peter watched as it went up and fell onto the head of Flash Thompson. The two looked shocked at that and Peter immediately got up and ran, knowing he's gonna get the full wrath of Flash now if he catches him and made it out of the cafeteria.
"Parker?" Flash asked at what he saw.
Peter made it through the halls and to his locker, trying to get his papers before getting out as fast as he could.
But then his mind seemed to have distanced itself from his head as he sensed everything happening in the hall. Heard every conversation being had. And then senses an incoming fist from behind.
Moving quickly, Peter dodged, and Flash's fist hits the locker. "Think your pretty funny, Parker?"
Peter took a few steps back, getting the school's attention as some students watched the confrontation just as Jessica made it over.
"Flash! Come on, it was just an accident!" Jessica tried to stop a confrontation.
"My fist against his face, that's the accident." Flash promised, getting ready to punch Peter.
"Flash, come on, I don't wanna fight." Peter pleaded with him.
"Well, you got one." Flash stated and swung to hit him, but Peter immediately dodged it and shocked everyone.
Including himself.
Flash went in for another hit, but Peter was watching it as if it wasn't even moving.
"Huh." Peter whispered, no idea what to make of this.
Flash went in for a hit, taking his whole body with him, as Peter bent his whole body backwards, shocking Peter even more as he didn't remember being this flexible.
Peter looked around, no idea what to say or do when he sensed something and did a leap and flipped midair as Flash's friend ran into Flash.
"He's all yours, man." He told Flash, not wanting to deal with this.
Flash went in, sending swing after swing whilst Peter did dodge after dodge, no idea how on earth he's able to do this. Then the next thing Peter knew, he was catching Flash's fist and delivered a punch that sends him flying down the hall.
Looking around, Peter saw the shocked looks on everyone, including Jessica as he just upped and ran out as fast as he could.
But it seemed no matter how fast he ran, he couldn't outrun himself. As he was running, his head started to buzz to a thousand when suddenly he was hit by a stick in the chest when a car came past.
Looking around, he realized that he had almost ran into the road and looked to his left to see the stick belonged to a blind person, about his age.
"Thanks." Peter told the blind guy.
"Next time, look where you're going." He warned Peter and walked off down the street like he wasn't even blind.
Peter looked down at his hand and started to think about what he was able to do back there...and he knew he needed to find out exactly what made him so different.
And you know what happened from there...
"Because we haven't talked for so long, I don't even know who you are anymore." Ben tells Peter since he's been acting weird since his trip to Oscorp. "You neglect your chores, you're doing all these strange experiments in your room, you started a fight in school."
"I didn't start that fight, I thought you believed me on that." Peter points out to his uncle. He had no control of these abilities he's been getting recently and one of the school bullies tried fighting him because of an accident.
"I don't mean to lecture, and I don't mean to preach, and I know I'm not your father." Ben tells Peter.
"Then stop pretending you are." Peter states to Ben.
Ben feels hurt because of those words but knows deep down he doesn't really mean it. "Right. I'll meet you here around the regular time, okay?" Ben asks Peter.
Peter looks to his uncle and feels the weight of what he just said and regrets it. But he didn't have time to make it up and he wasn't in the mood to keep talking and just left and Ben drove off.
When he got to his street in Queens, he saw police cars and an ambulance at his house. He broke into a run and got there in time to see a body bag being wheeled away.
Peter ran from the scene with George being unable to catch up with him due to his abilities. He kept running until he was far enough away from the police, and then started looking for his uncle's killer. He also found a jet ski mask in the trash and decided to use that to at least cover his identity.
The man was in Ben's car, not far from Peter's position when he found him. Throwing his costume on in an alley, Parker raced across the rooftops until he spotted his uncle's car. Having lost the police in a traffic jam, the perp hid away in an abandoned warehouse, but he was unaware Spider-Man had followed him.
Small rays of light made bright by the relative darkness bored into the warehouse, but they only accentuated the darkness there. Rage clear in his movements, Peter pounced from the shadows and attacked the criminal without mercy.
He began when he drove his fist into the man's stomach, following up with a backhand that knocked him into a wooden beam and to the ground. Reaching into his pocket, the man turned with his gun raised, but Peter kicked it away, knocking it through the nearest glass window.
The murderer tried to crawl away from his attacker, desperate to get away, but Spider-Man flipped him over and gripped his throat, lifting his body from the ground. As he pinned him against the wall, and Peter brought his fist back, ready to strike the man down, the criminal cried out through winded breaths.
"Wait! You don't have to do this! Just give me a chance!"
Peter tightened his grip. "What about the old man you shot? Did you give him a chance?!"
Peter snarled, his fist quaking with anger. "It would be so easy to end your miserable life right now, and I bet nobody would even miss you!" He thought to himself when he saw the fear in his eyes.
Peter started to look down and saw a reflection of himself and couldn't believe what he was doing. Finally thinking clearly, he shoved the man's head through the dirty glass, rendering the criminal unconscious.
"But my uncle taught me better than that."
A FEW MORE DAYS LATER:
Peter was then walking through the hall of the school, emptying his locker out for the last time. He wasn't going to be staying in New York anymore as now he would be moving to Central City to live with his Aunt May. He was flying on the next plane to go live with her.
It felt like to him everything had changed.
It was because of that spider.
If that spider had never bitten him, none of this would've happened. He could easily see the looks everyone in the hall were giving him as he was getting everything out.
What surprised people was when Flash walked over, calmer than yesterday. "Parker."
"Not today, Flash." Peter begged.
"Come on, man." Flash says as he placed a hand on his shoulder. "I just wanna ta-"
Peter wasn't having it as he picked Flash up and slammed him against the lockers, getting everyone's attention for the second time in under a week.
"Feel better?" Flash asked, being calmer than Peter has ever seen him. "Look, your uncle died. I'm sorry."
Peter broke down and started to let Thompson back down and let him go.
Jessica wished she could tell him how she felt for him, but she knew they could never be together now.
Or maybe she could do something for him.
Knowing there's a lot of things that could go wrong, she chased after him.
Thinking if she at least told him how she felt, maybe one day they could get together. Or at least she could see if he even felt the same about her.
Making her way out of the school, Jessica looked and saw Peter was already gone.
Without wondering how he did that, she tried to make it to his place so they could talk before he left forever. Luckily it seems that she made it just in time when he made it out of his home with a suitcase.
"Peter!" Jessica cried as she ran over to him.
"Yeah?" Peter asked, looking over to see Jessica walk over to him. "What are you doing here?"
"I...I needed to talk to you." Jessica explained and knew she had this moment, now or never. If she doesn't say it now, she'll lose him forever. "Because I feel if I don't tell you now, I'm going to regret it."
"What is it?" Peter wondered, hearing a horn go off at the car. "I'll be there in a minute!"
Jessica sighed and had to work up the courage to say it. ""I...I...like you..." Peter didn't seem to fully understand and she sighed. "I...really like you! I mean, more than I like-like you. And I know that you're moving but...I needed to tell you!"
Peter smiled and took his hand and placed his hand on her cheek. "I wished you told me sooner." He then looked to the cab and sighed. "But we don't have time to be anything."
"I know." Jessica started to lightly cry at the reminder and Peter decided to find a middle ground.
"How about this? Find someone. At least try to find someone else. Someone who appreciates you for how wonderful and beautiful you are." Peter dared her, confusing Jessica. "And if by the time you finish college, nobody is interested in you, or you're not interested in anyone...come find me in Central City."
Jessica sighed and knew that would be the best way for things to work out for them. "Sure."
"See you in five years, Jessica." Peter tells her as he leaned in and pecked her cheek as he then made it over to the car.
Sighing in relief, Jessica started to make her way home, wondering if she could keep the thought of Peter for five years. Could she actually keep the idea of meeting up with Peter for years for a crush?
Sadly, she wasn't paying attention to her surrounding, being in a happy mood, she missed the car coming at her head on, causing her to go flying back and knocking her into a coma.
TEN YEARS LATER:
Peter was in the middle of fighting a Scorpion, AKA Mac Gargan, and saw he needed to keep his distance and began to climb up the wall to the next building just as the man leaped and landed in front of Peter.
"Look! I'm faster and stronger than you!" He mocked as he raced in for another fight.
Peter tried to run and get away, but the second he leaped, the man used it to his advantage and wrapped Peter up and slammed him into the ceiling.
"Ow. Okay, I should've predicted that one." Peter groaned as he tried to pull himself up. "Thank you, spider-senses for the heads up." He mocked his own brain when his senses finally did go off to warn him of the acid dripping tail and dodged it fast. "Okay, I take it back!"
"You're dead meat, Spider-Man!" He cried as he ran and tackled Spider-Man, but was immediately interrupted and someone landed right on top of him.
Peter had to clear his vision from the smoke that came and was shocked when he saw it was a woman. A woman with pink flowing hair, an all white suit with a blue stripe across the edges and ends. Her hip had a wrap around it that had a jewel attached to her waist.
"Ow." Scorpion groaned out.
"That was fun." The new girl said as she walked over and pulled Peter up, showing to have even more strength than Peter. "Spider-Man. Been looking forward to this for a long time."
"You have?" Peter asked, no idea what to think. "Who are you?"
"Call me Jewel." She said as she then walked over to Peter with a coy smile. "But you might recognize me by a different name." She then removed her wig, revealing a familiar hair and familiar face. "Recognize me?"
"Jessica?" Peter asked in shock and looked around to see nobody around. "Jessica Jones?"
"Peter Parker." Jessica said as she then removed his mask. "Wouldn't yo know it? New York has enough Private Eyes, and I have a deal to keep."
"Really?" Peter asked, surprised nobody snatched her up over the years. "Nobody was interested?"
"Not as interesting as you." Jessica said with a smile.
"And...the costume?" Peter asked, looking over the Jewel suit.
"Though it'd be a cool idea." Jessica shrugged.
"And the...crushing a grown man in a steel suit?" Peter asked as he looked over to the now unconscious, and probably needed medical attention, Max Gargan.
"That...is a long story." Jessica sighed. "Something I'd easily discuss over dinner."
Peter chuckled and saw she was really straight forward about this date thing. "Question...how did you know that I wasn't seeing someone?"
"I...May or may not have stalked you a little on social media." Jessica confessed. "Does that sound a bit creepy?"
"A little. But I know that's how you show how you feel." Peter assured her with a smile.
