(A/N) I have not seen The Batman yet, but the trailer did give me the idea for this chapter.
Rain pours down on the city of darkness. A city that years from now might be a symbol of hope. But not today. Today, this city is filled with crime, smog, and smoke. Yet again, that's how it is for many days.
Welcome to New York.
There has been a recent upbringing in crime by this street gang that goes by the Goblins. Nobody has been able to lay a finger on them in weeks...but there was someone on the case.
Someone who strikes fear into the heart of criminals...
After a crescent robbery done by the Goblins in the business district of New York, a dozen of the Goblins, either wearing makeup over their faces or masks in the shape of Goblins all met up far away from the scene of the crime.
"Look at all of this! The big man's going to be impressed!" One of them told their friend as they separated from the rest with their cut, keeping the rest of it for their boss.
"That's great, can we get out of here now?" His friend asked, getting a little scared. "I don't wanna be out in the open any more than I need to."
"What, scared of the cops?" He asked with a scoff. "They can't touch us."
"No, it's...the other guy." He tried to explain, no idea how to explain it.
"That Spider-Freak?" He asked with a scoff. "He's not real. He's someone that the cops created to scare idiot criminals."
While they talked, there was a figure watching them from the side of the wall. He watched them stroll down the alley and saw it was time to act. As he climbed up the wall, he hit some snow that fell in a giant pile.
Once the snow hit the ground, it caused the two of them to jump and turn to face it and look around, wondering where it came from. "Who's out there?!"
The figure then dropped down and stayed in the shadows so that they didn't see him. The two of them brushed whatever it was off and turned around to spot the figure. They both drew their guns, followed by the two of them sending off several shots out. The bullets didn't seem to help as the figure dodged all of them and just stood there afterward.
He then took a few steps out of the shadows and showed off what he was wearing. He wears a black mask with goggles, a black vest, a light gray shirt underneath, dark gray pants, and black gloves and boots. He also had a black fedora and trench coat over the entire thing that blew in the wind.
The two of them looked at one another, one of them showing complete fear while the other laughed. "Who the hell are you supposed to be?"
He then approached the figure with a fist raised, ready to pummel him to the ground, only for the figure to block his attack, followed by him kicking and breaking his knee.
The man cried in pain as the figure then punched him in the face. That sent him dropping and was met with several more punches to the face, scaring the other guy half to death by the action alone.
"I'm justice." The figure said as the other guy started to go off running.
That didn't stop the figure as he raised his hand and shot a stream of webbing out from his wrist, attaching itself to his leg. The man then tripped and started to cry when he was raised into the air as the figure shot a second strand out of his second wrist and raised himself to the roof and held onto the criminal.
"Please! Please don't kill me!" He pleaded with the masked man.
"I'm not going to kill you." The masked man promises him. "I want you to do me a favor. Tell all of your Goblin buddies that their days of terrorizing this city are over."
"What are you?!" He asked as he looked up (technically down) to the ground.
The figure then raised him up, so they were up and front eye-to-eye sockets. "I'm Spider-Man."
That's when he dropped the man and sent him falling to the ground. But before he could hit the ground, he was caught by the foot, bouncing before he hit the ground face first.
He then looked back up and saw the figure leap and climb up the side of the second building next to the one that he was standing on.
"My name is Peter Parker. I'm an investigative reporter. Do you know what that means? It means I collect facts, and I figure out the story. And when I determine who the bad guys in the story are, I punish them. I'm...Spider-Man."
(A/N) Coming soon...an origin story for this particular Spider-Man. (As an AU chapter)
