At a NASA offsite, S.H.I.E.L.D. was working on the tesseract. But seems they have started to get some weird energy readings lately.

Fury walks into the room where they're experimenting on the tesseract. There he sees Richard Parker, head scientist and close friend to Fury, working on the cosmic cube. "Talk to me, doctor."

"Nick," Richard calls him over.

"Anything we know for certain?" Fury asks.

"The tesseract is misbehaving." Richard states as one of his men touch it with a metal pole, sparking it.

"Is that supposed to be funny?" Fury questions.

"No, it's not funny at all. She's not just active, she's...behaving." Richard tries to explain. "I've never seen something like this in my years of 084s."

"How soon before we can pull the plug?" Fury asks.

"She's an energy source. We turned off the power, she just turned it back on." Richard informed him, with no idea what to say. "She reaches peak level..."

"We're prepared for this, Doctor. Harness every from space." Fury reminded him.

"We don't have the correct harness," Richard says as he walks back to the computer. "My calculations are far from complete. Nothing harmful. Low levels of gamma radiation."

Fury looks at him, remembering the incident that turned Bruce Banner into the Hulk. "That could be harmful. Where's Agent Barton?"

"The hawk? Up in his nest as usual." Richard points above, behind him.

Fury uses his radio to call him down and sees Clint Barton from the New Mexico incident come down. "I put you on this assignment to keep a close eye on this thing."

"Well, I see better from a distance," Clint explains.

"You seen anything that could've set this thing off?" Fury asks him as they walk up to the tesseract.

"Doctor, it's spiking again." They hear a scientist say to Richard.

"No ones come or gone, Parker's clean, no contacts. If there was any tampering, it wasn't from this end." Clint says with a shrug, no idea what could be causing it.

"This end?" Fury asks, confused by what he means.

"Yeah, the cube, it opens a doorway through space. Doors open from both sides." Clint says.

Then, the tesseract starts glitching and a portal gets blasted at the end of the room. What came flying out of the portal first was a bunch of (what looked to be) squid tentacles.

Followed by that was a woman wearing a familiar uniform with the Union Jack on it. Then there was the metal shield she was carrying, also having the Union Jack on the front of it as well as a sword.

"Ma'am." Nick got her attention, causing her to get defensive. "Please put down the sword."

"Oh my god..." Richard said as he recognized the woman. "Sir, that's Captain Carter."

"Where's Steve Rogers?" Carter asks the people in the room.

Sorry for her, Fury sighed and knew she needed to be told. "The war ended almost seventy years ago."

Carter was shocked to hear that as she looks around and dropped the sword and shield.

"You gonna be okay?" Fury asks her.

"Of course," Carter said with a sad smile. "We won the war."

9 YEARS LATER

"Never fear! Captain Carter is here!" A young voice cried as a young man was holding up the shield in his hands.

This young man was Peter Parker, son of Richard and Peggy. Getting used to the 21st century was a chore due to the many changes in the world.

But luckily when she came through the portal, saying it was his fault, he assigned Richard to help her adjust. Usually, Richard would defend himself, saying it wasn't entirely his fault. But this time around, he was okay being blamed if it meant spending time with Peggy. He always found the idea of a Super Soldier interesting and was amazed at how they managed to make it in the 80s.

But the longer he talked to Peggy and spent time with her, the more he started to fall for her. And as typical for all Parker's throughout the multiverse, he never noticed how Peggy started to fall for him.

By the second year of living in the future, the two of them started dating. Richard being one of the sweetest people she's ever known, she couldn't help but rank him with Steve. He was smart, kind, and always thinking of others above himself. Even without any powers, he would willingly run into the line of fire if he could save a life.

By year three, they were married and living happily. Halfway into a year of their marriage, they found out they were gonna have another member of the family added.

Peter came into their lives in surprise, but they love and adore him the minute he came into their lives.

But then, as always, tragedy strikes the Parker family. When Peter became five years old, Richard was on a mission overseas for Fury. Things didn't exactly go as planned when an enemy missile shot down the plane he was on.

Carter was furious, going to the enemy base and destroying their machinery and arresting everyone. Once she had beaten up everyone she could, she went home and cried for days.

Only keeps it together enough when she's around Peter. When Peter was told the news that he would never see his father again, he was filled just with the same amount of sorrow.

Now two years later, it seems Peter's become a custom to messing with his mother's shield when she's not looking. Swinging the shield around, he acted as if he was deflecting bullets off, making sound effects to match.

"And what is this?" Peggy asked, acting tough when Peter jumped and turned to face his mother. "Isn't it my old enemy, Captain Carter?" She then marched over and stood over Peter. "I thought I saw the last of you during our last encounter."

"Encounter?" Peter asks, not sure if he understands what she means.

"Our last tickle fight!" Peggy cried as she leaped down and picked her son up, causing him to laugh. "This will be the last we meet, Carter!"

"Please, no! Stop! I can't take it!" Peter cried out, trying to talk through the laughing. "You win!"

"As always!" Peggy said as she put her son back down. "You fit that shield quite nicely." She complimented, looking at the shield strapped and connected to his hand. "I always wondered how the straps get that small."

"Sorry." Peter apologized to his mother.

"No, honey, you don't need to apologize," Peggy assured him as she cupped his face. "One of these days, maybe you can go into a fight with it. But I hope that day doesn't happen any time soon."

Peter nodded, knowing that his mother didn't like him getting into fights. "I understand."

Peggy chuckled as she rubbed his cheek, seeing so much of his father inside her son. "My little soldier."

Peter smiled and blushed as she held his face. "Mom."

"Come on, let me enjoy it," Peggy stated as she held her son and pulled him in close.
