Out in Raven's Point, Hiccup was searching everywhere for the dragon, taking out a notebook where he had marked everywhere he had already looked. He had planned out the trajectory and speed he saw the dragon crash but couldn't find it anywhere. He crossed off another location he had finished looking and started to become angry. Hiccup puts his pencil in his book, snapped the book shut, and placed it in his vest pocket.
Finally giving up, he decided to just head back to Berk and give up on this quest.
"Ooh, the Gods hate me," He groaned miserably, kicking the dirt as he made his way home. "Some people lose their knife or their mug, but no, not me. I manage to lose an entire dragon?!" He let out an irritated yell as he pushed a low-hanging branch out of his way. Only problem: it came back and smacked him in the face. "OW!"
Hiccup rubbed his eye and glared at the stupid branch. The tree Hiccup was standing next to looked like it had been split down the middle, bits of bark sticking out everywhere. He looked down at the other half that was just handing there and saw what looked like a long trench leading down and over a small hill. He started to skid down the hill and follow the trail to see where it led.
He looked over a small ledge where he saw something that caused him to gasped as he suddenly ducked his head back behind the hill. He swallowed as he slowly lifted his head, trying to sneak another peek at the thing that was in front of him. He sat up straight and stared right at the thing in front of him. Big, white, and shielded by wings.
Hiccup fumbled around in his vest before producing his very small dagger. It was the only weapon his dad would let him use because he thought he and would kill himself with anything else. The thing appeared to be unconscious, or maybe even dead.
This dragon had a pale blue underbelly with six limbs, that consist of two wings and four powerful legs. She has a fin that goes along the sides of her tail which ends with a smooth heart-shaped tail flap. She has four nubs on her head and a small nose.
"Wow, I…I did it?" Hiccup smiled as he approached the creature. "Ooh, I did it! This fixes everything! Yes!" He then raised his foot to place it on the dragon. "I have brought down this mighty beast-"
Suddenly the dragon pushed him off its leg and moaned. Hiccup gasped as he stepped back, standing against the rock. He held his dagger. He walked around, trying to get a good look at the dragons' faces, and that's when he saw it. A pair of large, stunning blue eyes, their slit-pupils staring back into his own. Hiccup stared at it for a moment, held still by fear. He took long slow breaths, regaining his ability to speak.
"I'm gonna kill you, dragon," Hiccup said in a low voice. "I'm gonna… cut out your heart and take it to my father, I'm a Viking… I'M A VIKING!"
He raised the knife as he was ready to plunge the dagger into its heart. But as he looks, he hesitates, looking at the dragon's frightened eyes. The Light Fury, while visibly scared, whimpered and looked afraid before she closed her eyes and looked away. Hiccup, unable to kill the defenseless creature, finally gives in. He dropped to his knees and sighed as he looked away.
He then looked down to his knife and to the down dragon. "I did this..."
The Light Fury didn't understand what was happening next but then she felt as the ropes were starting to be cut on her body. She was wondering what was happening when she looked over and watched as Hiccup cut the ropes. She was a little confused by this and waited for him to cut the last of the ropes.
When she felt she could move again, she couldn't help but slowly approach Hiccup, causing him to back away in fear. When he stumbled he backwards and landed against a rock, he came face to face with the Light Fury. She looked more curious than anything that he thought it would be feeling in this moment.
Hearing something sounding like a twig snap in the forest, the Light Fury stopped its inspection on the boy. She quickly turned away and started to take off into the air.
Hiccup panted heavily as he felt he could finally breathe again as he is probably the first to come that close to a dragon and live. He starts to get up and slowly walk away. But that ends with him getting up to his feet and falling over just seconds later. He fainted right in the middle of the forest and just stayed there for a while.
