Washington, D.C., the Triskelion. Inside Fury's office, he's informed that there might be an organization hiding inside S.H.I.E.L.D. by his two closest friends and head scientists, Richard and Mary Parker.
"Are you sure about this, Richard?" Fury asks after hearing their recent discoveries. "If we throw something like this into the wind, we could turn everyone on each other. And put a target on your heads."
"We know how it seems, Nick, that's why we're asking for permission to fly to the Hub, to see what we can find. And that's why I'm hoping only we can know about this." Richard asks.
"And what about if they found out about your kid's...abilities?" Fury asks, regarding their kid who gained powers after one of their experiments got to him.
"We hope they don't come forward for years, but we're doing this, so nobody learns, except for S.H.I.E.L.D.," Mary explains.
Fury thinks for a second and sits down. "You're on a thin leash, Richard. See what you can find."
"Thanks, Nick," Richard says and they leave his office.
"What about Peter? We can't just take him to the Hub." Mary says as she thought of her son. "It's too dangerous."
"You're right," Richard said and thought of it. "And we don't know if anyone here is trustworthy right now."
"We need someone outside the government. Someone they would never consider." Mary stated, showing she was worried about their son's safety.
Richard then thought of someone and knew a certain someone who would be perfect. "I might know someone..."
The two of them made their way over to New York and made their way upstate. When they reached the scene, Mary was confused about what they were looking at. What she saw only confused her when she saw there was a sign up on the wall.
"XAVIER'S SCHOOL FOR GIFTED YOUNGSTERS"
"How do you know this guy again?" Mary wonders.
"He was one of my professors in college," Richard explained as they made their way over to the front doors and parked the car.
Mary got out of the car and was still confused. "Okay, and what made you think of this place?"
"Let's just say that he knows a thing or two about people with powers," Richard explained as he walked up and knocked on the doors. "Let's just hope that someone's home."
When Richard knocked on the door, he waited a moment and someone indeed did answer the door. What Mary saw gave her a shriek as what she saw was a man with a blue furry skin. He didn't seem to be interested in harming them, and even Peter seemed to have taken a liking to the blue man.
"Hank, great to see you." Richard was happy to see his college roommate. "Mary, this is Hank McCoy."
"Pleasure," Hank said as he reached to shake Mary's hand.
Mary got over the whole blue fur and shook his hand, taking notice of the claws on his hands. "Hello."
"I was a bit surprised when I got your message," Hank said as he allowed them to enter the mansion. "You wished for an audience with the Professor."
"Yes, it's kinda urgent and we have very little time," Richard admitted as they wandered the halls. "We need to get going, and we need to speak to you guys."
"By all means." Someone said, causing them to look and see Charles Xavier. He was moving around the mansion in a yellow hoverchair. "What brings my most gifted student back to these halls?"
"I am so sorry to show up out of nowhere, Professor." Richard quickly apologized.
"Please, Richard, you're no longer my student. Charles will do just fine." Charles stated as he rolled around.
"Alright, Charles, sorry to drop in on you like this. But...we didn't know who else to turn to who we knew we could trust." Richard explained and looked over to Mary and Peter. "It's our son...he's a mutant."
Richard and Mary were in Charles' office and he was explaining everything. Charles was surprised to see that this baby was a powerful mutant, despite being so young.
"So, you think that these...people could be after your son?" Charles questioned.
"Well, he is the only other super soldier in the world," Mary explained.
"We just need you to look after him for a few days so that we can get back from the flight," Richard explained to him.
"A few days, maybe we could even see what kind of skills he has." Hank shrugged. "See if this is some sort of blip on the Mutant gene, or if there's a chance there could be other people out there getting the Mutant gene at a young age."
"Please, just don't treat my child like a science experiment," Mary begged.
"Oh, of course not," Hank promises. "All we would need to do is observe him, and maybe we could get a look for others."
"It is something to look into." Charles agreed. "If there are other younger children with powers, they could also be in danger."
"That means you're gonna do it?" Richard asks.
"Of course." Charles agreed and looked over the young boy. He saw the small baby look up to the man and giggled, causing the Professor to chuckle.
Richard and Mary were currently on their private plane from S.H.I.E.L.D. and started heading to the Hub.
Richard is trying to hack into a secret server inside the Hub to locate the source.
"What could this code mean?" Mary asks.
"I think it's supposed to be an activation code," Richard says.
"Wait. I think it cracked it." Richard says as part of the code comes through.
"Out — — — in— — light"
"It's just...what if they know?" Mary asks.
"Who knows what?" Richard asks.
"What if these people know about his powers?" She explains to her husband. "He's the first enhanced human since Captain America."
"Don't worry, Charles and Hank will protect him," Richard tells her. "He'll be safe with them."
"So, they're like Peter?" Mary asks.
"Close." Richard shrugged. "Charles is a telepath and Hank...well, he has animalistic instincts and is brilliant."
Mary starts calming down and needs to go to the bathroom. "I'll be back," Mary says as she goes to the bathroom whilst Richard keeps trying to crack it. As he did, the pilot doors opened and one of them stepped out.
"Mr. Parker." He greets and starts washing his hands over the sink while Richard looks and sees something on his hands he sees and thinks it's blood. Richard starts getting suspicious. "No rest for the future, huh?"
"No, it would seem not, Rumlow," Richard says. "I don't really see why Fury assigned you to this."
"Well, he didn't," Rumlow explains as he turns in the sink. "So, what is it you're working on that's so secret?" He asks.
Richard looks and another part comes in "H— H-D-A" it says, still incomplete. "I'm just...planning ahead." He explains, disturbed. "You don't know what's gonna happen." He explains. So, you think I can radio the Hub and make sure they're prepared for our arrival?" He asks, getting up.
"Step ahead of you. Already done." Rumlow says.
"I think I'd like to make sure for myself," Richard says as Rumlow pulls out a gun.
"I think we both know that's not an option, Doctor," Rumlow says.
Richard looks back at the computer as the message becomes clear. "Hail HYDRA" He looks back to Rumlow in shock. "You're HYDRA? HYDRA is still around?"
"Oh, don't worry, even the Director is clueless. We've been here since Rodgers tried beating us." Rumlow explains.
"Cut off one head, two more grow back." Richard understands.
"You know, they told me to kill you," Rumlow explains. "Then take whatever you have on us. But I can offer you a chance to see your son again. Garret wants to offer you a choice." Rumlow explains.
"A place in HYDRA?" Richard asks.
"All we want to know is what your son can do. And where we can find him." Rumlow shrugs.
"I'd die before I let you turn him into a weapon for HYDRA," Richard promises him.
Rumlow looks sad. "Come on, Richard, think of your son," Rumlow says.
"I am. That's why I'm not joining." Richard tells him.
"I'm sorry to hear that." He says and walks towards the bathroom door and makes sure it's locked. Richard takes this time to send a message to Fury. "S.H.I.E.L.D. is compromised." It says and sends it as Rumlow turns back around.
Mary tries getting out of the bathroom and is having trouble. "They say you're a genius. S.H.I.E.L.D.'s best to offer." Rumlow says as he takes his laptop. "Sadly, it's a waste. Don't worry, we have plenty of people looking for your son. We already checked with your wife's sister. May, is it?"
"What?" Richard asks.
"Yeah, she was a nice girl. Sorry to see her go on a robbery gone wrong." Rumlow says, faking empathy.
Mary then breaks the door open and Rumlow gets distracted and turns to her. Richard takes the opportunity to punch him, and he stumbles kicks Richard off of him, and aims the gun at him.
Rumlow turns and shoots her, point-blank.
"Mary!" Richard shouts as he gets back up and kicks Rumlow unconscious when he grabs the gun and goes to find out how Mary is. "Hey, you're okay." He says as he moves her to a seat and buckles her. "You're gonna be okay."
"Richard...Peter." Mary gasps.
"They don't know where he is. Charles will look after him." Richard reminded her, knowing that they made the right call.
"The laptop," Mary says and Richard sees it on the ground.
Richard takes it and goes back to contact Fury. "I gotta let him know...we might not make it back."
Rumlow gets back up and punches him and he takes his gun back before aiming it at him. Rumlow takes his gun and shoots at the front of the plane and the dead pilot falls forward on the wheel they start crashing as Rumlow takes a parachute and heads for the exit.
"I'm sorry it had to end this way, Richard," Rumlow says as he looks over at Mary. "It's been an honor to meet you, Mrs. Parker. I'm Rumlow, by the way." He says casually like he hadn't shot her a few moments ago before he leaps out of the jet.
They can't do anything as the plane starts to go down and crash into the ocean.
20 YEARS LATER:
From that day on, Peter Parker was raised within the institution. Xavier became a father figure to him, whilst Hank taught him science which Peter had a knack for. He honed his powers and worked himself to the bone to become an example for other mutants they would later find, and even turn their home into the school they wanted it to become.
But disaster struck in the form of Carles' death. Peter lost his only father figure, but...he gained a family over the years. He stood proud as he was wearing an all-yellow suit with blue hips and a large black and red X on his chest. He tapped on the X, revealing it was a comm channel. "To me...my X-Men!"
And what came next was his family.
Anna Marie "Rogue" has short auburn hair with white streaks as bangs in the front of her hair. She has grey eyes and a pale skin complexion, and she wears purplish-blackish makeup and lipstick. She wears a dark navy blue bodysuit. Gold platelets with the "X" logo are on both of her shoulders, while a green platelet goes around her bust area. A gold utility belt also marking the "X" logo goes around her waist, while small platelets protect her knees. Knee-high boots are worn for shoes, and thick brown gloves are worn on both hands.
Rogue has the ability to absorb a person's life force through direct skin contact, acquiring the individual's memories, skills, powers, and a fraction of the individual's personality for a limited time. The longer she stays in contact with them the longer she retains the skills and abilities she absorbs. If she maintains contact for too long, she may put the other person in a coma or even kill them.
Scott Summers has a very masculine shape with a V-shaped torso, broad shoulders, a square jaw, and clearly defined muscles. Scott has clean-cut brown hair and though his ruby quartz glasses hide his eyes, they are thought to be green or brown. Scott usually wears a blue sweater over a pale yellow shirt, tan pants with a brown belt, and light brown shoes. And, of course, his visor.
Scott's body can absorb certain types of electromagnetic energy, including sunlight, metabolize it, and release it in destructive, ruby-red force-based beams through his eyes. Due to a head injury he sustained as a child, he is unable to control these beams and has to use protective glasses made of ruby quartz to suppress them. A special ruby quartz visor is often used to help him focus and manipulate his optical blasts in various, controlled ways.
Doreen Green was a fascinating girl with some strikingly unique features that made her stand out from the crowd. From her back, a large bushy tail protruded, resembling that of a squirrel, which was impossible to miss. Her short brown hair was adorned with two tiny ears that poked out, adding to her charming look. As Squirrel Girl, she was often seen clad in a brown outfit that accentuated her slender frame, with the X logo emblazoned as a patch on her shoulders and sturdy boots that offered her feet ample support.
She had superhero strength and speed, as well as the powers of a squirrel to climb up surfaces and summon and communicate with other squirrels that she wished.
Storm is a tall African woman with white hair and blue eyes. She wears jeans, a black blouse, golden earrings, and a hairband. On missions, she wears a black uniform with a cape, high heels, and a headpiece as well as her golden earrings.
Kamala Khan is a Pakistani-American teenage girl with brown hair and brown eyes. Ms. Marvel wears a yellow garb with a lightning bolt going down her left shoulder, a blue domino mask, a red scarf around her neck that reaches the ground, a gold bracelet on her left wrist, and blue spandex under the garb. She also had a belt on her suit with an X logo on it.
Kamala's powers were activated during the Attack on New York, causing her to become a polymorph, giving her the power of elongation allowing her to extend her limbs, torso, or neck to great distances. And also Size Alteration as she can adjust her height and stature.
Jean Grey is a Caucasian girl with an athletic, tall, stature. Her hair is red and often is left freely that goes down her back though only tied up if the situation calls for it, she also has green eyes.
In Jean's X-men uniform, she wears a dark navy blue bodysuit with a cowl that covers her whole body except for her face, hair, and hands. Her suit has a bright green V-shaped triangle on the front and has the "X" logo on the side of each of her arms/shoulders. She also wears a single-bangle bracelet on each of her wrists.
Jean's abilities improved after she joined the X-Men. Jean preferred to only use her telekinesis and telepathy when necessary, opting to talk out an issue rather than pry for information or use physical force. This was directly inspired by her mentor Charles Xavier, who did not use his telepathy to pry for information unless it was a necessity.
One day while Peter and Jean fought side by side amidst the chaos of battling the Sinister Six, Peter couldn't help but be drawn to Jean's strength and beauty. She was a force to be reckoned with, and he admired the way she fought fearlessly. Jean, in turn, was intrigued by the web-slinger's quick wit and unyielding bravery. Together, they fought valiantly and emerged victorious.
After the battle, Peter and Jean found themselves talking late into the night, discovering that they had much in common despite their vastly different backgrounds. They shared stories of their past, their hopes and dreams, and their fears. It was as if they had known each other for years, rather than just a few hours.
As their conversations deepened, Peter and Jean realized that they were falling in love. They felt a magnetic pull towards each other that they couldn't resist. It was a feeling that neither of them had experienced before, and it was both exhilarating and terrifying.
Their relationship was not without its challenges, of course. With their duties as members of the X-Men often taking them away from each other, they had to find a way to make it work. But they were committed to each other, and they always found a way to stay connected, no matter the distance between them. They knew that they had something special, something worth fighting for.
And with Charles gone, Peter was going to make sure that his father figure's hope for a better world didn't die with him.
