Once again we gather here to enjoy another translated chapter!
Before I start with the reviews, I want to make a very important statement, or at least, it is for me:
This story has been out for a little over 7 months since the prologue was published, if you remember well all this was just a test and I would only continue translating if it was really worth it. Let's say it was worth every moment I spent on this, since this story became the most famous of the ones I have, reaching 350 favorites and 374 followers in a very short time. Obviously, I'm also glad to have spent all this way, since I was learning several things about English, and that shows quite easily in the first chapters due to the large amount of translation errors that are found. That's why I also want to thank the people who are reading this, since they were patient enough with my clumsiness. Seriously, thank you all very much.
Sentimentality aside, it's time for the reviews:
MAX0910: I want Ophis to become part of that little circle so that she not only falls in love with Issei, but also becomes friends with the other women who will surround her beloved in the future, just as I've been doing with those who appeared before her, although each one has a different route so that this doesn't become repetitive, or that's what I'm trying to achieve. I'm glad you liked the combat, especially because of what I commented in the previous chapter. Lastly, I'm glad you liked the personality presented for Gabriel and Jeanne (though the poor girl didn't last long). I hope you enjoy the chapter.
Now it's time.
Enjoy!
Cao Cao's grimace deepened as he noticed how the dawn shone brightly from above the mountain. The man couldn't help but click his tongue in annoyance as he witnessed firsthand how all his plans were being thrown away. His gaze returned to the front, delivering a clearly fake smile to the two newcomers, who were looking at him with no hint of emotion whatsoever, especially the Cadre.
His gaze drifted further back, noting how Rossweisse was freezing a part of Gabriel's neck to stop the bleeding.
"They're all exhausted. The only one who can give me trouble is that woman." Cao Cao fixed his gaze on Penemue, implying he knew who she was. "Maybe I can take care of everyone. If it doesn't turn out in such a way, I still have some plans up my sleeve."
"If you're thinking of a way to escape, let me tell you that's impossible." Was the withering reply from the Cadre, who looked quite frightening with her pale skin and all that blood staining her body completely.
"Hehe..." Cao Cao couldn't help but laugh, only to open his eyes again. "Always when I need him the most, that useless Georg is never on time..." The man said more to himself than anything else, but the Cadre and Issei could hear him.
"You mean that man who was near the battlefield?" Penemue's Crimson eyes glowed brightly.
Cao Cao looked at her with slightly widened eyes at such a question.
Neither of them said anything for the next few seconds.
The dripping noise from the blood falling from the woman's katana was more than ample proof of what had happened.
"I already took care of him." In case that hadn't been entirely clear, Penemue made sure it was.
"You...!" Cao Cao clutched the spear tightly, ready to rip his throat out.
"You will not fight me." Penemue stopped him when his back was turned. "Your opponent will be Issei. He's been waiting for a match for a while now, so I wouldn't want to rob him of this opportunity." Cao Cao glanced at the aforementioned, noticing that the brown-haired man was looking at him unfazed.
"Hyoudou Issei, the weakest Sekiryuutei ever." Cao Cao stated, implying that he was somewhat informed about him. "I was able to watch the Ratings Games telecast." The man sneered as he placed the spear over his shoulder.
"You think with that level you can even get close to me?"
CHAPTER 58: DESTROYED!
Cao Cao's gaze changed slightly as he noticed the protagonist's various scars. They were mostly red hot, indicating that they were fairly fresh.
"What the hell happened to him?" The True Longinus bearer couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at the sight. "His left arm is completely bandaged..." The Hero Leader finally bowed his shoulders as Issei activated his Balance Breaker without a word. "It's not something I care about either." He concluded in his thoughts, opting for a combat stance as he looked at him.
His confident expression was reflected in the gem in Issei's hand, which kept giving off little green flashes.
Issei's posture changed slightly as he raised one of his hands, causing two small magic circles to appear from it.
Cao Cao strengthened his stance as he witnessed two spheres of magic shoot towards his position. He smiled slightly as he evaporated the attack with a simple flick of his spear. Cao Cao raised his gaze, noting how Issei had used the earlier attack as a sort of distraction as it rushed towards him. The man's smile was framed as the edge of his spear shone brightly.
Issei's eyes widened slightly as he noticed a very dangerous magical wave being shot directly in his direction. It was very fast, so he apparently had no time to respond when a small amount of dust covered the entire place after the impact.
Just before Cao Cao could boast about how easy it had been to deal with him, Issei emerged from the dust to the slight surprise of his opponent.
The first thing Issei attempted was a kick, and that very action caused his teeth to clench a bit as much of his armor was pierced by the spear block. Issei jumped back a little and countered with a quick punch, but Cao Cao's spear got in the way once again. Issei watched his opponent's smirk, causing him to get a little annoyed. The protagonist did not hesitate to grab the tip of the spear with his hand, then tried to attack with his other arm. Cao Cao simply scoffed as he turned his spear on its own axis, stopping the attack in its tracks.
Noticing a small gap, Issei released the spear and attempted to deliver a strong punch to his face, a strong punch that the man blocked with his bare hand.
"You're much slower than I expected..." Cao Cao sneered.
At those moments, the True Longinus wielder noticed a small glow in the green orb of the gauntlet, causing his eyes to widen slightly.
Issei dematerialized his helmet only to present him with a smile that gave him chills.
But what gave him the most chills was what Issei did next.
One of Issei's legs flexed slightly, taking a completely different stance from the one he was using so far.
Cao Cao's eyes blinked in complete shock as Issei turned into a crimson blur and disappeared from his sight completely.
His face turned slowly out of pure instinct, only to feel Issei sink his fist into his face, causing him to spit out a large amount of blood as he rolled in the air.
"What was it...?!" Cao Cao stood up from the ground as he wiped the blood from his mouth, not giving credit to what had just happened.
"Can it be...?" Azazel couldn't help but think, noticing how Issei did that pose again, causing an image of Penemue to land next to him just before he disappeared. "He was able to learn that in just two weeks?"
"Not just that." Penemue quickly corrected him, her gaze remaining utterly proud. In fact, she was the only one present who could keep up with her future lover's speed. "Just wait, and you'll see." Azazel just paid even more attention, as did Dulio and Rossweisse, who were also very impressed at Issei's display.
Cao Cao had never been surprised by anything. But now he had to say that he was completely insane. After all, insanity was a twisted way of trying to explain the reason for how the fuck Issei was moving so fast he couldn't even see him. All he could do was raise his spear in an attempt to block any attack as he felt a very strong blizzard was getting closer and closer to his position.
His expression was a complete work of art as a crimson blur came from the front. At first he thought Issei had gone mad when he punched his spear hard, but that thought turned to panic when he noticed the small crack that appeared in the environment, it had sounded like an earthquake. That small crack indicated the force of the impact, a force that his body could not replicate, and, as a result, he once again went flying through the air.
All the onlookers watched in complete surprise as a large amount of air shot out everywhere due to the shockwave that had occurred at the scene.
"That movement..." Rossweisse was quite curious and surprised at what she witnessed. "I'm sure I saw it somewhere..."
"She's the first to notice it. I'm not surprised, since she's spent the most time with us." Thought the Cadre with a faint smile as she saw that Rossweisse was about to find out everything.
"How is this possible?" Cao Cao stood up from the ground as he delivered him a look coated with rage. "You were supposed to be a nobody..."
"Hey."
Cao Cao's gaze focused on Issei, watching as he had dematerialized his helmet.
The smile on Issei's face deepened as he opted for Penemue's stance again.
"You're much slower than I expected."
"How dare you?!" A vein nearly exploded on Cao Cao's forehead as he heard how Issei taunted him by using his own words against him.
The Hero Leader gave a grimace of annoyance as he noticed how Issei once again disappeared through trails of dust. His eyes widened madly as he thrust his spear forward.
"There you are!" he roared in a great rage, only to widen his eyes as the blurred figure of his opponent disappeared right in front of him.
"How did you...?!" Cao Cao couldn't even finish his sentence, as his nerves exploded by the bucketload as he noticed Issei's figure was appearing and disappearing in all directions, feeling completely surrounded by hundreds of people when it was just one.
"I've got it!" Rossweisse bumped her fist with her hand, getting everyone to look at her expectantly. "Issei is combining the style of Tiamat and Penemue!" The woman exclaimed, remembering the few times she saw the dragoness train.
"When I told him to find his fighting style I didn't expect something like this, but I must say I'm quite pleased." The Cadre stated with a slight smile on her face.
"But if he turned those two styles into one..." Azazel thought aloud, looking at Issei with great surprise in his eyes. Something very rare for him.
"No matter what the outcome of this battle is."
Cao Cao turned his face, only to receive a hard punch from Issei on his cheek that contorted his face in a somewhat abnormal way as his nose broke and parts of his teeth flew out along with it.
"Issei has become a ruthless killer." The Cadre concluded, still unable to fully believe what he was witnessing.
"I've had enough!" Cao Cao exclaimed as he rose from the ground with a breathtaking anger and madness to match his disfigured face.
"I DON'T INTEND TO DIE IN THIS PLACE! I HAVE A MISSION TO ACCOMPLISH AND I WON'T DIE UNTIL YOU ALL KISS THE DAMN GROUND!"
Issei couldn't help but take a step back as a massive energy surrounded his foe completely, causing various orbs to start coming out of the spear. Orbs that slowly pushed their way back inside it, until only two were left.
"Polar Night Longinus Chakra Valdine!"
Those words got Issei to turn serious immediately.
"His Balance Breaker? He wasn't even using it yet?" Rossweisse couldn't believe everything she was witnessing, as the guy was quite powerful when he wasn't even using half of his power.
"Pay attention." Azazel's comment made everyone look at him. "There were more orbs, but the vast majority were introduced inside the spear just as its aura was becoming unstable." He commented calmly.
"Does that mean...?" Dulio inquired, getting Penemue to cross her arms.
"Your Balance Breaker is incomplete." Was the woman's neutral reply, getting Rossweisse and Dulio surprised. "Still, Issei must not let his guard down. He knows that very well."
Issei stood staring in complete silence at his enemy, noticing how Cao Cao delivered a smile completely out of place.
"What are you waiting for? Come!" Cao Cao demanded as he left his chest exposed in an attempt to provoke him.
Issei just kept silent at what he witnessed, though his body did not think the same way.
The young man lunged at a speed that Cao Cao still could not keep up with. Issei could tell that, since the man didn't even follow him with his eyes.
But apparently those two floating things did see him.
That was demonstrated in a painful way when Issei tried to attack him from behind, noticing how those two orbs spun at a ridiculous speed while a large number of spears much like a deformed True Longinus shot out towards him.
Issei couldn't help but grit his teeth as said spears caught his arm, shattering his armor as numerous cuts extended from his hand to his shoulder. Before Cao Cao could react, Issei took a great leap backwards to take a safe distance.
Cao Cao slowly turned around as he gave him an unhinged grin, making it clear that his sanity had been buried from the moment Issei disfigured his face.
Issei couldn't help but grit his teeth as he grabbed one of his arms, noticing how it was dripping blood.
"For the most part the cuts are superficial. But it hurts like hell." Issei thought, noticing how his whole arm was shaking. "If that spear gives me a good hit, I doubt I'll be able to resist it."
Issei raised his gaze, noticing how Cao Cao was waiting for him.
"In that case..."
Issei's stance firmed as he crossed his arms in X, regenerating his armor in the process.
"EXPLOSION!"
A large amount of crimson aura shot out everywhere when those words were heard. Issei didn't think twice, lunging at his opponent at a much faster speed than previously demonstrated, leaving a red trail in his wake.
Cao Cao gripped his spear tightly as he saw the red trail vanish. That same trail appeared on his back. The orbs spun again at an enormous speed just as the spears began to shoot out against his opponent.
Issei gritted his teeth as he used all his concentration to dodge the slashes, feeling various spears graze parts of his armor. Finally he seemed to break through his defense, but by the time he reached Cao Cao it was too late, as Cao Cao was already in position. The young man's fist collided with great force against the royal spear, generating a huge shock wave that shattered the ground.
At that moment, Issei could also understand that his strength and endurance had greatly increased compared to what was presented a short while ago, otherwise he would have already made him disappear.
"It's useless!" Roared Cao Cao as he tried to cut him in two with a quick swing of his spear.
That intention only remained as an attempt when Issei took a great leap, landing right on top of his opponent. Issei's foot landed on one of the orbs, causing his eyes to widen slightly as he noticed something strange, so it didn't take him a second to jump again. His suspicions became certainties when a large number of misshapen spears shot straight in his direction.
Issei spread his wings to separate a little, and then fell to the ground. His gaze rose, causing his eyes to startle as numerous spears shot straight in his direction. Issei made a great show of his agility as he made different pirouettes to dodge each of the spears, until he finally took a great leap, aiming one of his hands at Cao Cao.
"DRAGON SHOT!"
Issei perched several meters away from the impact, noticing how the whole place began to tremble from the magnitude of the attack. His gaze remained passive while he waited for something or someone to come out of all that smoke and dust that was in the place. He only had to wait a few seconds for the cloud that prevented him from seeing to disappear.
The first thing that could be witnessed among so much haze was a dry laugh next to a figure.
"You can do whatever you want, but you won't be able to break the best defense existing in this world." Cao Cao declared as he waved his spear, implying that that impenetrable defense was the True Longinus.
"So a seamless defense, huh...?" Issei stated seriously, getting Cao Cao to smile even wider after noticing his expression.
"What's the matter? You don't feel like attacking anymore?" Cao Cao sneered at him, so obviously no one expected the brown man's reaction.
For he only smiled at him.
" In fact, there is no more perfect time for me." Those words made everyone look at him with a confused expression, except for one Penemue, who closed her eyes as she knew what he was talking about.
Issei smiled slightly as he materialized the katana in his left hand, removing its sheath in one swift motion.
"Now you want to try with a weapon?" Cao Cao couldn't help but chuckle at what he witnessed.
"Just wait." The brown-haired man declared as he raised his right hand, beginning to create a reddish-colored sphere that kept growing.
"A Dragon Shot?" Rossweisse couldn't help but be confused at what she was witnessing.
"It doesn't matter how big the magnitude of the attack is. That won't work, and he knows it." Azazel stated, noticing how Issei was putting all of his remaining magical reserves into the attack.
"So you want to try that again, don't you learn?" Cao Cao mocked Issei again with that unhinged grin. "Come at me!" The man held out his arms again. "Come at me with your best attack so you can see that you can't beat me!" He roared with great elation.
"Okay..." Issei simply smiled, the reddish sphere already reaching a very considerable size. "You'd better not regret it later."
Issei lowered his gaze, only to widen his eyes beyond measure as he brought the sphere closer to his katana.
At that moment, everyone's eyes widened beyond measure after the word they heard.
"TRANSFER!"
"I told him not to use it..." Penemue couldn't help but sigh as Issei raised his gaze with a feral grin while his katana emanated a monstrous reddish aura that kept flashing at the instability it presented.
"What did he do?" Rossweisse was the first to ask as she noticed that the whole atmosphere was much heavier than normal for a reason she didn't understand.
"It shouldn't be possible, but that brat transferred all his power and Dragon Shot to the katana." Azazel stated, noticing the large amount of incessant reddish lightning flashing off the katana. "There is no weapon that can withstand such an overload."
"COOOOOOOMMMEEE!" Cao Cao exclaimed with a maniacal grin, downplaying what had just happened more than he should have.
Issei increased his grin even more, then waved his katana backwards.
It was a simple motion, so everyone's jaw nearly dropped as they witnessed the entire floor behind Issei go flying apart.
"Here I come!" Shouted Issei, starting a run towards his target as he grabbed the katana with both of his hands, generating a great line of destruction in his wake.
Everyone watched in complete silence as the trail of mass destruction approached at an enormous speed towards a smiling and confident Cao Cao.
The brown-haired man dodged several deformed spears by a miracle, one even grazed his cheek. Finally, the protagonist stopped his run when he landed in front of Cao Cao, who was already blocking the incoming attack with his spear.
"Let's see if your impenetrable defense can handle my best attack!"
The lower part of the spear came into contact with the tip of the katana, and at that moment a screeching sound was heard throughout.
"CRIMSON DRAGON'S FANG!"
Cao Cao's eyes blinked with unparalleled shock as he saw the lower part of his spear split into a thousand pieces, only to spit out a large amount of blood as the katana embedded itself in his abdomen.
Not even a second had to pass from that action for the whole place to be covered in a strong crimson light that blinded everyone completely, giving off tremors and sounds so irritating that it almost made them faint.
The sound began to fade after several seconds, as did the tremors and the strong blinding light.
Everyone began to slowly remove their hands from their faces to witness what had happened.
Penemue was the only one who knew how devastating this new attack was, so she was not surprised at the sight.
But that didn't mean the others were unaffected.
The feeling of stupefaction, shock, surprise, none of those sensations could describe with certainty what Azazel, Dulio and Rossweisse were feeling right now.
In front of them was a huge, completely destroyed wasteland with crimson lightning bolts that kept emerging between the cracks. The mountain in front of them no longer existed, all a product of the guy who had his sword buried in the large hole in his opponent's abdomen. In fact, it was surprising the simple fact that he didn't split into two.
"What...what the hell just happened?" Azazel couldn't help but curse at such unprecedented destruction.
Everyone had seen things like this before, but it was hard to remember people nowadays who could create such destruction while being only one person.
"He's an idiot..." Penemue couldn't help but pursed her lips as she noticed how Issei's arm that held the hilt of the katana was unarmored and with quite noticeable wounds.
Issei bit his lip to relieve all the pain his arm was giving off. His gaze lifted, seeing the man standing in front of him. His gaze was completely shadowed, so it was impossible to guess what he was thinking now.
Just at the precise moment he thought his victory was confirmed, his gaze was exalted as he felt Cao Cao grab his arm, preventing him from moving away.
Not that he could, either, as that attack had drained him of almost all his energy.
"I must admit, that was surprising." The shadowed man stated, causing Issei to grit his teeth as he noticed a snake mark on his hand beginning to glow.
"But it's far from enough." Cao Cao raised his gaze with a bleeding smile as he charged Issei in one swift motion with his spear.
The young man could barely react, so he tried to parry the spear with one of his hands, but failed miserably as it slipped between his armor and hand, stabbing deep into his abdomen.
All that could be witnessed next was another explosion.
END OF CHAPTER!
I hope you enjoyed it!
I know, it was another chapter a little shorter than usual. But I can assure you that the next one will be one of the longest there is in this story.
Again, thank you all for your support for this project. Seriously, I'm very grateful to each and every one of you.
See you soon!
