"Umm… Wiz? I don't know about this magic item."
Naruto voiced his concerns as he stared at a small orb sitting on a display table.
"I think this magic item will be very popular with the couples in town! Aren't you a little curious how your children might look?"
Wiz exclaimed enthusiastically, so much so that Naruto had to lean back as the girl leaned closer with each word.
He was happy to see his friend so excited about her merchandise, but this item was a little…
When held by two people, the orb would draw upon the mama and memories of both then take the form of a person that blended the looks and personalities of the donors.
Essentially, it created a "what-if" child between two people in the form of a magical construct. Hence the name of the magic item "Trial Child".
To Naruto, it seemed kinda weird, but seeing the look of excitement on Wiz's face made him feel a little optimistic about the item. Although he wondered what Vanir and Yunyun would think about it.
But the Crimson Demon went home to her village to visit family, and the suspicious masked man said he'd be out of the shop for the day.
Just then, the shop's entrance opened and a group of familiar faces stepped inside.
"Yo!"
Kazuma casually greeted, and he was followed by Aqua, Megumin, and Darkness.
"Welcome everyone! Oh, I'll go brew some tea!"
Wiz greeted their guests before disappearing into the back room.
"We were just heading out for a quest, but Aqua wanted to say hi to Wiz before we left."
Kazuma said and threw a thumb towards his party member, who gaped at him.
"I-I only wanted to come for snacks! That Lich makes decent tea for an undead… W-what are you looking at, you bra thief?"
Aqua stuttered in her words as Naruto grinned at her.
"Thanks for giving Wiz a chance, Aqua. I'm sure she appreciates your company."
Naruto said as Wiz came back and placed a couple shabby glass cups onto the table, then disappeared into the back once more to retrieve the spouting kettle.
Aqua simply huffed and sat down at the table expectantly.
The goddess had been stopping by more frequently to hangout, but mostly when Naruto wasn't around for some reason. He wondered why Aqua was being so shy about it. Then again, that girl had a lot of pride when she wasn't begging for something so the ninja wrote it off as a bratty goddess thing.
"What kind of quest are you guys taking today?"
Naruto asked, and Kazuma was about to answer when Megumin stepped forward and crossed her arms in a dramatic fashion.
"We're going on a treacherous quest to save a beachside village that is on the verge of famine, night raiders pillaging left and right, and a curse that claims the souls of those who try to leave!"
The mage revealed in a raised but eerie voice, her visible eye glowing fiercely.
"Ignore that last part, but there's a remote village by the beach that's short on supplies because a group of monsters have been stealing things at night."
Kazuma explained while tugging on the back of Megumin's shirt, causing the girl to lose her balance.
"Harmless things really, but the villagers don't have any means of keeping them out so they're hiring a group of adventurers to scare them off. But I heard there are powerful monsters in that area called Brorillas… I wonder if we'll face some."
Darkness added as Megumin pounced on Kazuma in retaliation, adding that last bit in a hushed tone.
"Aww, that sounds fun. I haven't been to the ocean in… Well, not since I learned how to harness this guy's power."
Naruto said and pat his gut with a cheeky grin, and he heard a grunt in the back of his mind.
At this point, Kazuma and Megumin were grappling at each other on the floor. The two rolled around until they bumped into one of the display tables.
""Ah!""
Naruto and Wiz shouted when a little glass orb was knocked out of place and rolled off the edge. Thankfully, the shinobi reacted in time and reached forward to catch it before it fell on the two guests.
"S-sorry…"
Kazuma muttered shamefully from the floor, and pinched an apology out of the stubborn mage of his party.
Naruto sighed in relief as the troublemakers picked themselves off the ground.
"Hey, what's that? I don't remember seeing it being here before."
Aqua, who had crumbs all over her face, asked while eyeing the orb in the shinobi's hand with curious eyes.
"This is the new magic item Wiz just ordered, and it activates when two people touch it at the same time."
Naruto explained in a slightly scolding manner towards the two who were currently averting their gazes.
"Ah."
Darkness suddenly said with wide eyes, and her party members matched her expression upon following her gaze.
Raising an eyebrow, Naruto followed their gaze to find Aqua's hand on top of the magic item in his grasp.
"Ah."
The shinobi said as the orb began to float in the air and started glowing brightly.
"Eh?"
Aqua squeaked with a dumb look on her face as the group was consumed in its light.
When they opened their eyes, a girl now stood in front of Naruto and Aqua.
'A great beauty appeared!'
Kazuma thought with bulging eyes as he took in the newcomer's appearance.
She was about Aqua's height and had long golden blonde hair that had a heavenly glow to it. A simple light blue dress with golden trims that went down to her knees covered her perfectly proportionate figure.
The girl blinked her sharp cerulean colored eyes before smiling broadly, which gave her a more feral appearance due to the three whisker-like marks that adorned her cheeks.
"Hello mother, father."
Everyone stood in silence for a solid minute before Wiz squealed in delight and wrapped her arms around the girl from behind.
"So cuuute! So this is what a child between Naruto-san and Aqua-sama would look like!"
Wiz cooed while looking at the outcome of the magic item from every angle, and even went as far as squeezing the girl's cheeks which seemed to disgruntle her a little.
"I feel… conflicted, undead lady. There are parts of me that want to care for you and purify you at the same time."
The construct stated with narrowed eyes, and Wiz abruptly pulled back when her hands suddenly began to sting.
"E-eh? Holy energy? Ow… Ow… Ow…"
The shopkeeper noted the obvious presence of her weakness before wincing in pain as the girl began to pat her on the head while continuously emitting that holy aura.
"Hm, this feels right."
The girl said with a cheeky grin as she continued to give Wiz holy headpats.
And just like that, Kazuma was brought back to reality. The person in front of him may look like the girl of his dreams(literally), but this was a combination of Naruto and Aqua. THAT Naruto and Aqua. If she could casually emit holy energy that was strong enough to harm Wiz, a Lich that was as powerful as a Demon King Army General…
"Hey now, you're hurting Wiz. Don't bully her."
Naruto scolded and grabbed the construct's arm, causing the girl to giggle and offer a sheepish apology. But to his surprise, the girl lowered her arm and she moved as if there weren't any resistance. This caused the shinobi to lose his footing as his body turned involuntarily and he nearly fell to the floor.
'Did we just witness the birth of a God?'
Kazuma thought, the color draining from his face as the magical construct strutted up to Aqua.
"Mother! I wish to explore this wonderful world!"
Hands on hips, the girl all but demanded the goddess with a broad smile.
"What an eager child, I guess I have no choice. But first, we have to get you signed up at the adventurer's guild. Kazuma can pay for the fee, of course."
Aqua responded with a warm smile and pointed to her party's leader.
"Eep…!"
Kazuma made a strange noise when the construct's sharp gaze leveled on him. Knowing the kind of strength and mentality this woman potentially had was terrifying to the low leveled adventurer.
"Understood. This man seems a little weak, but if he's got money then I won't complain."
"I may have the weakest class, but don't think you can just-Ow! Hey, this is kidnaping! Darkness! Megumin! Help! Hel-Oh, no bra."
Kazuma began to kick and scream when he was suddenly hefted under the arm of the demigod, but soon became eerily calm when his face was pressed against the side of the girl's chest.
"Now then, tell me which way to go!"
Kicking the shop's door open, Naruto and Aqua's trial child happily took off running down the street with Kazuma obediently pointing out directions.
"A-are we just going to let her take Kazuma?"
Darkness asked while looking back and forth between the door and her friends.
"That man seemed just fine to me."
Megumin bitterly responded, easily noticing her party leader's scummy behavior.
Having consoled Wiz who was looking a little transparent, Naruto walked over to the group and rubbed the back of his head awkwardly.
"So… That just happened. What now?"
The shinobi asked while making an effort not to look at Aqua, prompting Megumin to narrow her eyes mischievously.
"It's obvious, isn't it? As that child's mother, I'm going to support her! Let's go on that quest everyone!"
Aqua declared and ran out the door in pursuit of her "child", but not before looking back and smirking at Naruto.
"No need to tag along, Naruto. Raising that child would probably be too much for an immature boy such as yourself. Just leave it all to the great me! Puehehe!"
"!"
Naruto's jaw dropped upon hearing the bluenette's taunts, and his face turned bright red with rage at the sound of her roaring laughter. All of the awkwardness went right out the window.
That bratty goddess just made things personal!
"I'll show you what's too much! I'm gonna teach her how to fight and let her eat all the ramen she wants!"
The ninja fumed and stormed after his rival parent down the street, leaving a bewildered Darkness and an amused Megumin behind.
"T-this is… Unbelievable! All of your stats are maxed out! Except for intelligence and luck which are slightly below average…"
Luna exclaimed while muttering the last bit with a hint of disappointment evident in her tone.
"Hahaha! That's amazing, right? Hey, lazy guy. What should my class be?"
The magic construct laughed before gesturing to the boy she carried under her arm.
"Yes, I'm a lazy guy. So please don't put me down. Hmm… Aqua is an Arch Priest and Naruto holds the Adventurer class like me. With your stats, either a Sword Master or Crusader would probably suit you the most. Although, if you pick the Adventurer class you could learn skills from all of the other classes."
Kazuma stated from his limp position, his expression blank and unreadable.
The girl nodded along as she received the pieces of information.
A large crowd of adventurers had long since gathered around the three and were all cheering at yet another golden rookie. Some glared at Kazuma, but he was too busy enjoying his position as this demigod's "lazy guy" to care about those jealous folks.
"Hmm… I feel like it makes sense to follow in my father's footsteps, but I also feel like I have an affinity for water's healing properties like my mother…"
"Eh? Father? Mother? Naruto-san and Aqua-san!?"
Luna gaped when she heard something rather amazing come out of the newbie adventurer's mouth.
"This girl happens to be from another country, like Naruto and me. Her parents were quite famous for being an Arch Priest and an Adventurer."
Kazuma explained without missing a beat, his ever blank expression unnerving the receptionist. It would be troubling if word got out that those two had a child, even if it were through the use of a magic item.
"I-I see…"
Luna replied with a bitter smile, that would explain the whisker marks. Perhaps they were a trait from Naruto's home country? She also wanted to ask why Kazuma was being carried by this person, but thought better of it. Strangeness tended to follow that man, even amongst the weird collection of adventurers in this town. She may have slipped because of what the newbie had said earlier, but the receptionist had long since learned to just go with things.
It made her job a lot easier.
"I'll just go with the Adventurer class. This card says I already have all of my mother's and father's skills anyways."
The construct said something rather alarming with an uncaring shrug, earning a collection of boos and other jeers of disappointment from the crowd.
"Ah, now it feels satisfying for some reason."
The girl said with a smirk while glancing back at the onlookers.
Normally, Kazuma would have been alarmed to learn that this demigod already had the combined skills of those two. But he was in a good place. He felt safe. Such things didn't really matter right now.
"N-now all that's left is your name."
Luna said with a strained smile while pointing to the name section of the small adventurer's card. This was now giving her a wild sense of deja vu.
"Don't got one. Can I just fill that out later?"
"Eh? S-sure. Just put your name right there…"
Honestly, what was with this girl?
'Nope. Just let it go, Luna. It's just another of those types. It won't do you any good to worry about it.'
Luna thought and straightened herself, letting all of her questions and concerns flow away.
There. Much better.
Some Time Later…
"Mother, give me a name."
The magic construct demanded, her head rested on Aqua's lap.
The group had arrived at the adventurer's guild just as she and Kazuma were coming out, so they went to the designated area for caravan drivers at the entrance of the town to rent a carriage.
They were all now resting on their wooden seats, bouncing lightly as the wooden wheels rode over the rocky trail towards the beachside village. They were covered by the tarp that covered the vehicle. Given the time they'd begun their trip in the morning, the driver said they would arrive by the late afternoon so long as there weren't any incidents with monsters on the road.
"Hmm…"
Aqua hummed in thought as she gently strummed her hand through the girl's luscious blonde hair.
Kazuma was honestly surprised how natural that bratty goddess was doting on that girl. It was almost disturbing how motherly she was acting. Why didn't she act like a proper goddess all the time? He was almost jealous. But the thought of receiving a lap pillow from Aqua made him feel nothing.
Naruto was having similar thoughts as he glowered at the goddess of water, but he was more jealous of the fact that his "daughter" clearly seemed to be favoring Aqua over him.
That was about to change with the cool name he was going to suggest!
"Miso!"
""Rejected.""
Both Aqua and the construct said in unison, causing the blonde to fall into an instant state of depression as he scuttled to the corner of the carriage in dejection.
What was wrong with his super cool name… Who wouldn't want to be named after the greatest flavor to have been tasted by man and gods alike?
"How about Pacifica?"
Kazuma found himself suggesting after the great ocean his home country was closest to.
"Mmmm… Nah, sounds too snobby for such a gracious child."
Aqua waved her hand dismissively, earning a flat look from the boy.
That was rich, coming from a snobby goddess.
"What about Pearl?"
Darkness suggested next, but was further rejected by Aqua who crossed her arms in an 'X' with the magic construct nodding her head in agreement.
"I am feeling a fondness for the ocean, but maybe a name that sounds powerful."
The construct said while tapping at her chin thoughtfully.
This time, it was Megumin who stood and shouted excitedly.
"Charychary!"
""Bless you.""
Naruto and Kazuma said in unison upon hearing the strange sound that came out of the Crimson Demon's mouth, and Megumin proceeded to thwack them both with her staff.
As the boys retaliated against their attacker, Aqua smiled and patted her trial child on the head tenderly.
"This child's name is Eddy."
The goddess said with a sense of finality.
"...Huh?"
The two boys, one holding Megumin in a headlock while the other confiscated her staff, looked at each other in confusion.
"Eddy, huh… I like it! Excellent choice, mother!"
The newly named Eddy exclaimed before etching it onto her adventurer's card.
Aqua was brimming with pride as Eddy swiped her name onto the paper.
Kazuma had a strong urge to retort, but after seeing the happy expressions on the mother and daughter pair he couldn't bring himself to say anything. He'd let it rest this one time.
"How is Eddy better than Miso…"
Naruto mumbled to himself from his corner.
"It's certainly no CharyChary, and don't you dare say a word. I've been working on improving my Explosion magic for our next showdown. This time, you and your fake Explosions shall be blown away to smithereens."
Megumin agreed solemnly, then proceeded to threaten the shinobi when he was about to say something unnecessary.
"Explosion magic? Is it really that powerful? Show me!"
Eddy asked before demanding that the mage demonstrate, and the Crimson Magic Clansman's eyes flashed a bright red.
"I thought I sensed a comrade in this child! Are you interested in walking down the path of Explosion magic too!? Your cheater of a father chose this path, but has since tainted the essence of the sacred magic… Don't be like him."
Megumin said before whispering the last bit to the construct while shooting Naruto dirty looks.
A tick mark formed on the shinobi's forehead.
"Who chose that stupid path!? You little brat… I'll show you Explosion magic that'll make you cry!"
Naruto barked and the short fused duo locked eyes for a short moment before Megumin suddenly thrusted her staff out the window of the carriage.
"Oh darkness, consume my essence to eradicate my enemies-Hey! Stop it Kazuma! Just let me finish!"
"Don't you dare fire that spell right next to our carriage!"
Kazuma immediately pounced on the mage before she could finish chanting.
–As the party continued to converse with Eddy and share some of their adventures, the construct continued to grow more and more excited to the point where she was bouncing in her seat.
They were nearly upon their destination when Naruto came up with an idea to one-up Aqua.
"Hey, Eddy! How about we have a little competition to beat the most monsters? If you win, I'll make you a special bowl of ramen I like to call the Food of the Gods."
Naruto offered with a confident grin, and an audible grumble sounded out from the carriage as the adventurers held their stomachs.
"Nah, I'm good. As a construct made of mana, I don't need to eat food. I'll still beat you in that competition though. Oh! I can hear seagulls! We must be close to the village! Hey, Lazy Guy! C'mon! Let's go!"
"Yes, I'm Lazy Guy. Please carry me to the village."
Eddy responded with a casual shrug before hefting Kazuma under her arm and jumping out of the carriage.
Naruto watched slack-jawed as his trial child ran off at an inhuman speed while carrying his friend.
"Doesn't need to… eat… No ramen…"
The shinobi plopped onto his seat with a thump while muttering to himself in disbelief.
"There there… That child is just a mama's girl is all. Oh, but you can still make me that ramen."
Aqua scooted over to sit next to her fellow parent and pat him on the back soothingly.
How did this happen? Naruto didn't want to be comforted by Aqua of all people. At this rate, he was going to lose and that bratty priestess would never let him live it down.
Something had to be done.
What could he do to impress that trial child and gain her respect…
"That's it! I just have to fight her! Hahahaha! How could I have been so stupid… If that girl is anything like me, she won't back down from a fight!"
The sage cackled with glee as he envisioned how the scene would play out. He and Eddy would have an amazing battle and bond through their fists, he'd win, then he would be the favorite parent!
"Huh!? You can't fight our daughter, you stupid fight crazy man!"
Aqua started spouting, but it was all nonsense to Naruto who now had a crazed look in his eyes.
But how could she understand, Aqua wasn't a fighter. Naruto grew up fighting. All he knew was fighting… and ramen of course.
"I'm sorry Aqua, but this is the only way."
Naruto stood up from his seat and cracked his knuckles. Now that he thought about it, Eddy was probably super strong. She had to be, given she was the combination of him and Aqua who was allegedly a goddess.
This was going to be interesting.
"No no no! I won't allow it! If you want to get to that child, you'll have to go through me!"
Aqua wailed as she clung onto Naruto's pants.
"Hey… I think we should stop this."
"Yeah, I think Naruto's finally gone off the deep end..."
Megumin and Darkness said and nodded to each other in agreement. They had to restrain Naruto before he did something crazy.
"Paralyze."
"!"
Upon noticing the other two girls getting to their feet, Naruto used his Paralyze skill to subdue Aqua. The goddess froze in place with a comical expression on her shocked features.
"Y-you really have gone off the deep end! As a crusader and a friend, I cannot allow you to continue down this path!"
Darkness declared and took a grappler's stance in anticipation. Judging by the slight smile on the woman's face, she was clearly looking forward to this encounter.
"As expected of my self-proclaimed rival… Your hunger for battle is understandable, but entirely inappropriate right now. Very well then. I, Megumin, shall be your opponent this day! Plus, I need to get back at you for earlier…"
Megumin declared with a flip of her cape while muttering the last bit.
"Fufufu… Hahahaha!"
Naruto chuckled before outright laughing, causing his adversaries to grow rather wary. This was actually kind of exciting! Now he got to take on Darkness, someone who might actually be able to take a hit from him and not go down in one blow!
First, he'd take care of these two. Then he'd go for the main event.
'Hah! You're just as eager for a real battle as I am, brat. Although I wish our challenge didn't have to come from that abomination you created with that self-proclaimed goddess.'
Kurama chortled, and the shinobi couldn't help but agree with most of what the fox said, other than the beast's comments on Eddy. He felt a sort of kinship with the magic construct, even though she didn't seem to care about him much. But that was about to change.
Naruto hadn't realized just how much he'd been missing the battlefield. A real fight. One that required his full attention and wits. Where he could go all out without having to worry about going too far.
"D-Darkness? I actually think I'm gonna go get Kazuma."
Megumin suddenly said with wide eyes upon seeing the wild expression on Naruto's face.
"Don't get cold feet, Megumin! What do you plan on doing after subduing us all, Naruto!? Three helpless girls out in the middle of nowhere… You'll probably pay off the driver to keep his mouth shut, or worse! You'll let him have the scraps when you're finished with us! Ugh… I knew you had it in you, Naruto!"
Darkness shouted with an equally wild expression on her face, prompting the mage's face to pale.
It was no good, Darkness went off the deep end too!
The blondes pounced on each other, causing the cabin to shudder. Megumin tried to abandon ship, but a hand grabbed her by the scruff and yanked her back in.
Aqua helplessly watched from her paralyzed position as her party members were pinned down and tied up by the shinobi and a couple clones. What a day to forget her hagoromo at home.
The driver, on the other hand, shook his head as the carriage shook. Kids these days really didn't hold back.
After hopping off of the caravan and making a dash towards the village in the short distance, he could smell the familiar salty scent in the air. The sound of the waves became louder and louder the closer he got.
Naruto was brimming with excitement.
Finally! After all of his time in this new world, he was going to have to go all out against an opponent!
To think it would be his own daughter too.
'...Yeah, that's still kinda weird.'
Naruto thought before shaking his head.
It was showtime!
But upon entering the village, the shinobi came across a bewildering sight.
Standing on top of a pile of defeated small monkeys and gorillas with bulging muscles was Eddy, a shit eating grin on her face.
The villagers had circled the pile of monsters and were currently prostrating themselves in awe and wonder.
"Hahaha! That's right! Praise me! For I am Eddy, Goddess of the Maelstrom! Daughter of Aqua, the Goddess of Water!"
Eddy declared while flexing her free arm and Kazuma began to clap from his spot under her arm, his expression ever neutral.
The crowd joined in on the applause one by one until everyone but Naruto was clapping fiercely.
"...What is happening?"
The shinobi asked, a bead of sweat trailing down the side of his bewildered face. Leaving Kazuma's strange behavior aside, what in the world was going on?
Eddy's eyes lit up when she noticed the shinobi.
"Oh! Father! Look, I have worshipers now! Just like mother!"
The construct said and puffed her chest out with pride.
"They're worshiping you because you took out a couple monkey's…?"
Naruto asked incredulously. He heard this village was remote from most of the other towns in the kingdom, but this was kind of ridiculous.
"Obviously not, dummy! It's because I tamed that!"
Eddy said and rolled her eyes before pointing towards the ocean, and the water exploded as an enormous entity broke free of the surface.
Covered in dark spiky scales, the sea monster let out an ear splitting roar from its gaping maw that held countless razor sharp human-sized teeth.
Naruto's eyes were like saucers as the creature crashed back into the water, leaving behind a large whirlpool in its wake. That was one of the top "Run on Sight" monsters in the book Luna had given him!
Kazuma heard the roar, he heard the cries of the villagers who feared the titanous monster, but somehow, he just couldn't bring himself to care. This was a safe place. Under the arm of this beautiful demigod.
""""Praise Eddy-sama! Goddess of the Maelstrom! Tamer of the Charybdis!""""
The villagers praised as their forms bowed up and down, and the magic construct's form started glowing slightly.
"Oh, I can feel my power growing! This is great! I could probably go and defeat the Demon King now!"
Eddy said while examining her now glowing appendage, which seemed to snap Naruto out of his stupor.
"H-hey! I'm going to be the one to defeat the Demon King!"
Naruto stuttered while pointing at the girl defiantly when he came to a realization. This was his chance to initiate his plan.
"You know what Eddy? You're clearly strong enough to take on the world with how you are now. But as your father, I have to test your skills to be sure."
Naruto said in a mock stern tone with his arms crossed behind his back.
"Hmm… I suppose you are quite powerful for a mortal being, father. You might make a decent warmup before we head off to the Demon King's castle."
Eddy responded in kind with a smirk and put Kazuma down on the sand.
No longer in his happy place, Kazuma blinked and jumped to his feet.
"Hang on. You just said something I can't ignore. What do you mean by 'we'?"
"Hm? You're coming with me, obviously. How else am I going to find my way to the Demon King's castle? Or pay for carriage and teleportation magic fees? Ah, but don't worry Lazy Guy. I'll carry you the entire way. Even while I'm destroying the Demon King and his monstrous forces. Can't have them killing you violently or taking you hostage while I'm decimating their troops, now can I?"
Eddy replied with a cheeky grin and patted the teen on the head reassuringly.
Kazuma's blood pressure skyrocketed upon hearing this revelation.
Killed violently? Taken hostage? How was that supposed to make him feel better!? What was he thinking, letting this monster carry him around like a human wallet!? He needed to get out of there!
"Naruto! You gotta do something about your daughter! Don't let her take me to such a dangerous place!"
Kazuma spouted and tried to make a run for it, but Eddy grabbed the back of his collar and started laughing.
Naruto let out a dry chuckle. He wondered what had been going on in that guy's head up until now. Seems like he was just in shock. Now this was the Kazuma he knew.
"If I win, then we all go back to Axel and party!"
The shinobi declared and started walking towards the water. If he was right about his trial child, then it'd be best to take things away from the village.
"I would like to try that Bubbly mother was talking about earlier. But it's a shame that won't be happening, because I'll be too busy defeating the Demon King."
Eddy replied and began to match the ninja's stride, leaving the praising villagers and a hopeful Kazuma behind.
When they reached the shore, Naruto focused chakra into the soles of his feet and stepped onto the surface.
Eddy watched intently as the shinobi walked across the surface of the ocean.
"Oh, you know what? Maybe we should go… back… Eh?"
Naruto looked back to taunt the girl for not being able to Water Walk, only to find Eddy standing on the surface right behind him with a shit-eating grin on her face.
"Walking Walking is a neat skill you have, father. What else can we do?"
Eddy asked while skipping around and giggling.
We?
That comment sent a chill down the shinobi's spine. If Eddy could also walk on water-
Naruto didn't even have a chance to complete his thoughts when Eddy suddenly lunged at him. He barely had time to raise his arms in defense. The impact of the girl's fist sent him skidding back a few yards.
The ocean became eerily calm at that moment. The gentle rock of the waves underneath their feet seemingly stopped, which caused the surrounding area to become unnaturally quiet.
Naruto looked at his forearms that were now bruised and shaking with wide eyes, then back to his "daughter", who was staring at him with her sharp cerulean colored orbs.
A faint golden aura seemed to radiate from her form, and it increased in volume when the girl took a deep breath. From what Naruto could sense it was purely holy mana, and she had a LOT of it.
"I feel at ease here… Thank you for bringing me to this place, father."
Eddy whispered while trailing a sandaled foot across the ocean's surface, a fond smile growing on her whiskered face. Her expression then turned feral as she looked at the shinobi.
"I feel like I can't lose here!"
The construct shouted before turning into a blur in Naruto's vision.
Now on guard, Naruto was able to deflect most of the oncoming flurry of attacks. But as the onslaught dragged on, Eddy's pace only got faster and faster until all the only thing he could do was block the heavy hits.
'I need to put some distance between us!'
Naruto thought and leaped back. When Eddy inevitably pursued and was in his face again, the boy used that brief second to pull out a scroll from his ninja pouch and open it. A blinding light shone from the open end of the scroll, but Naruto's eyes were closed the moment he activated it so he remained unaffected.
"God Blow!"
A fist tore through the scroll and connected with Naruto's jaw that sent him a good ten feet into the air. He skipped across the water like a stone before he managed to catch himself.
How did-
"How did I see through your magic item? I inherited mother's Goddess Vision, so all I saw when you opened that scroll was a sitting duck! Hahaha!"
Eddy taunted before cackling with laughter.
Naruto put his hands in a cross-like seal. His jaw was probably broken, but it would heal. He got the extra time he needed and intended to take full advantage.
Creating a dozen clones, the group of shinobi dispersed in different directions.
"Oh, so that's how you do that one."
Eddy chirped and put her hands into the same hand sign. A dozen copies of the demigod appeared and clashed with each Naruto.
'So she really does have all of my skills…'
Naruto thought as they watched their clones duke it out from a short distance.
She might be able to copy his jutsu and skills from this world, but it seemed she needed a demonstration first. Which meant she probably couldn't go into Sage Mode!
Creating a couple more clones to aid the existing ones, Naruto joined the battle. He couldn't hide a clone to gather natural energy in this open field of water, so he was going to have to defend one.
After a couple exchanges and a few clones from both sides popping out of existence, Eddy seemed to have caught onto what he was doing and made a beeline for the doppelganger that was currently sitting cross legged on the water a good distance away.
"Kazuma said you were able to enter Frog Mode by gathering energy! You're stalling for it!"
Eddy shouted as she raced towards the clone with the real Naruto right behind her.
"It's Sage Mode! Damn it, Kazuma!"
Naruto was giving all he had but Eddy was just barely faster and he cursed when she landed a flying axe kick on the clone and destroyed it.
Now that she knew, there was no way he'd be able to… Unless-!
'Kurama!'
'Way ahead of you, brat. Go crazy.'
The nine-tailed fox said and Naruto felt an abundance of nature chakra enter his system. Eyes snapping yellow, an orange pigment materialized above his eyes to indicate the physical appearance of a perfect sage. With this amount of natural energy, he'd be able to stay in Sage Mode for a while.
"What!? No fair! I thought I stopped your clone!"
Eddy stamped her foot and complained as the newly sage-enhanced Naruto clones began to push her own clones back. She charged straight into Naruto with a glowing fist cocked back, but Naruto caught the punch in his palm.
The force of the impact shook the water around them, causing a large circular wave to spread outward. A few clones from both sides were swept up by the large ripple as the rest jumped over it.
"Even if you can enter Sage Mode too, I won't give you the chance."
Naruto said in an even tone, his toad slitted eyes leveling with Eddy's. She tried to throw a second punch with her free arm but he simply grabbed that fist too. His strength was now superior to hers. He could feel it.
"We'll see about that."
The construct grinned victoriously as the shinobi slowly pushed her arms back.
'Naruto! She's draining your chakra! Let go of her now!'
'Wha-'
Kurama tried to warn its host, but it was too late.
Eddy's eyes changed to match Naruto's own, and he could sense it now as the girl began to push him back again. She was now a perfect sage.
Naruto cursed loudly when the construct let loose a burst of her newfound power and shoved him back. Even with his own Sage Mode, the force was enough to knock him off balance and slip. This gave the girl enough time to land a solid blow to his gut, causing a wad of blood to spew out of his mouth.
Without Sage Mode, the blow would have killed him. But that only made him even more excited.
Eddy reared her fist back to land another hit when one of Naruto's clones grabbed her arm and another tackled her from the side.
As Eddy was scrapping with the doppelgangers, Naruto was racking his brain to try and understand how he hadn't noticed the girl draining his chakra. Also, how did she do it? The only people he knew who had the Drain Touch skill were Wiz and…
Naruto palmed his face upon realization.
Kazuma.
Eddy had been carrying the guy around all day, she must have learned the skill from him at some point. She had the Adventurer's class after all.
As to why he hadn't noticed the Drain Touch was easy. His durability betrayed him. Sage Mode gave him the sturdiness to fall from great heights without so much as a scratch. Couple that with the adrenaline rush that came from this fight, a skill like that wouldn't even tickle him.
"Hehe… Hahaha… Hahahaha!"
Naruto chuckled before straight up bellowing with laughter.
Eddy finished off the last of Naruto's clones with a roundhouse kick then started laughing with the cackling shinobi.
"This fight is…"
Naruto said as he put his hand into his signature seal and molded a boatload of chakra.
"Wonderful!"
Eddy shouted with glee as her form began to radiate with holy energy, hands in the same seal.
Then, it was as if the ocean became shrouded in a deep fog as clone after clone was produced until there were over a thousand of each blonde haired orange eyed fighter.
"Eddy!"
Naruto shouted from the forefront of his army of sage enhanced clones. His arms and jaw hurt, and hit guts felt like they'd been pulverized, but he couldn't contain his excitement.
Not even the battle with the Mobile Destroyer had made him feel this way.
Thank you.
His words drowned in the sounds of literally thousands of shouts as the clones charged at one another. As the first doppelgangers collided, all hell broke loose.
There were eruptions left and right, water shooting into the air like geysers. Exploding kunai went off, blasting Narutos and Eddys alike. Rasengans clashed with God Blows, creating massive distortions in the air.
Despite the difference in raw power, Naruto and his army were more skilled with their techniques and worked together more fluidly.
Grabbing onto the arm of an Eddy clone, Naruto spun on his heel. He hit three other clones before the one he'd grappled was destroyed. He sensed another enemy lunging at him from the side, so he leapt into the air and created two more clones.
The battle seemed to be slowly turning in his favor, but it was time to bring out the big guns.
Eddy looked up as a loud screeching sound rang across the battlefield. She saw Naruto holding a large cyclone of pure energy that resembled a shuriken.
Grinning, she stuck her hand out and started muttering something under her breath.
"Rasenshuriken!"
Naruto hurled the chakra weapon towards the biggest cluster of Eddy clones he could see.
She'd be fine. Probably.
Suddenly, a dense mana signature made itself known on the surface.
"Explosion!"
A deafening boom followed as blue viciously fought against orange for dominance in a contest of force. The wind nature of Naruto's technique caused the great combustion to swirl and expand, forming a cyclone of flames and smoke.
Naruto shielded his face as a wave of blistering heat blew past him. He figured she had that spell too, but when had she learned…
'Back at the carriage.'
The shinobi deduced as he landed on the ocean with a splash. The water felt good on his skin after facing that explosion.
Wasn't her intelligence stat supposed to be like his and Aqua's? While he wasn't dumb by any means, Aqua's intelligence stat was a little…
Naruto was knocked out of his thoughts when the surrounding waters began to move again. His shadow clones started shouting at him in warning, but the original already knew what was happening. He could sense it.
A large shadowy figure approached from the depths, producing a powerful whirlpool that started dragging Naruto and his clones down in a circular motion towards the center.
Eddy snickered from the edge of the maelstrom, seemingly unaffected by the water's movement.
Naruto wasn't even surprised anymore, and simply grinned when the sea monster's head broke free of the surface and let out a deafening roar. He'd been wondering when that thing was going to show up.
'Ready, partner?'
'Thought you'd never ask.'
Kurama replied with a lazy tone before flaring its chakra in sync with Naruto.
Immediately, Naruto's form became enveloped in a familiar golden hew with strange black markings. But his transformation didn't stop there as the fox's chakra exploded outward from the seal and continued to grow in size until they towered over the sea in the form of a tailed beast avatar.
With a single sweep of its tails, Kurama created a tsunami-sized wave that crashed down over the Charybdis and its whirlpool.
But it didn't seem to bother the creature in the slightest as its massive head burst right through the wave and latched its fangs into one of the fox's tails.
"You little runt-Guh!"
Kurama grunted when a massive explosion hit its chest, making the Tailed Beast's stance unbalanced. This gave the Charybdis the opening it needed to tug on the tail in its mouth and knock the chakra construct on its side.
As Kurama fended off the sea monster that was now trying to pull them underwater, Naruto scanned the area in search of Eddy. He finally spotted her standing on top of her servant's massive head, her arm outstretched directly towards him.
"Incoming!"
Naruto warned his partner, and Kurama managed to raise its arm just in time to block another Explosion spell.
"!"
Naruto yelped when the smoke cleared to reveal a good dozen Eddy clones attached to the fox's appendage. They were all grinning at him fiercely with their sharp orange eyes, their glowing hands pointed right at him.
It was honestly terrifying.
Boom!
Half of the avatar's head was blown away from the series of Explosions, flinging Naruto into the air like a ragdoll.
As the jinchuuriki struggled to regain control of his fall, the sea monster took advantage of the fox's stunned state to submerge them under the water.
Kurama would be fine, but he was an open target in the air now that they were separated.
After regaining control, Naruto proceeded to freefall as he tried to find Eddy again. He could see a few pairs of straggling clones fighting around the newly formed maelstrom, but his gut was telling him the real one wasn't among them.
As he was nearing the water, something smashed through the surface right towards him.
"Surprise!"
Eddy shouted, and thrust a golden Rasengan forward.
Now she was merging holy mana with the Rasengan!? What was this kid, a genius or something!?
"Nice try!"
Naruto shouted back and swerved out of the way.
But the attack didn't end there as a dozen more clones burst out of the water like a school of flying fish.
Seeing the second attack coming from a mile away, Naruto stretched his arm out and formed a ball of purpleish-black energy with the aid of two hands made from his chakra cloak.
"Super Mini Tailed Beast Ball!"
His arm stretched out as a chakra appendage and flew right into one of the clones.
The resulting explosion consumed all of the incoming attackers and even slowed Naruto's descent.
"Jokes on you, this was the real me!"
The voice came from above, and Naruto looked up to find Eddy falling towards him with a dozen more clones all armed with sage-enhanced Rasengans.
A Rasengan barrage, huh? How cute.
Naruto smirked as a light flashed deep under the ocean. The Charybdis erupted to the surface and crashed into the group of Eddy's.
It was only because Eddy's clones shoved her out of the way that she avoided getting slammed by the behemoth's massive form… Only to fall right into the hand of the nine-tailed fox who had just emerged from the depths.
Before Eddy could escape, the avatar closed its fist and snared the construct in an unbreakable grip.
The Charybdis slammed into the ocean with a crash. When it resurfaced, it shook its head before diving back into the water to flee with haste.
Naruto jumped off of Kurama's head and onto the fox's hand. Crouching, he gave Eddy an ear to ear grin.
"Looks like it's my win, Eddy. That was pretty close though, you almost had us with that Explosion magic earlier."
"That's what you think, father… But my real attack starts now!"
Eddy exclaimed and started laughing maniacally.
"What!? Where!? From behind!? Above?!"
Naruto panicked and frantically turned around in different directions.
. . .
Naruto narrowed his eyes suspiciously.
"You don't actually have anything else, do you?"
Naruto asked, and Eddy averted her gaze.
And just like that, the exhaustion hit Naruto like a brick. He plopped down and let out a huge sigh.
That. Was. Awesome.
Naruto and Eddy laughed as they made their way towards land, each sharing their favorite part of the fight along with what they could have done better.
The sun was beginning to set, and they could feel the night's chill breathing down their necks with every gust of wind.
The villagers patiently awaited their return at the edge of their territory, and prostrated themselves as Eddy came close.
"The goddess has returned!"
"Praise the goddess of the Maelstrom!"
"Bless us with calm seas!"
Kazuma, who stood at the front of the masses, walked up to the blondes and placed a hand on Naruto's shoulder.
"Go defeat the Demon King."
The boy said and without another word, he turned on his heel and returned to the village.
Naruto scratched at his whisker marks awkwardly. Kazuma probably witnessed the entire fight from here. Kinda hard to miss a giant nine-tailed fox wrestling with a mythical sea monster.
"Father."
Eddy suddenly said, prompting the shinobi to look at the girl questioningly.
"I think… I would like to try that ramen you spoke of before I destroy the Demon King. After our fight, I am now craving it. Even though I do not need to eat."
The demigod admitted while rubbing her chin in thought.
Naruto's eyes widened. His plan worked! He was sure the ingredients needed to make ramen were in the supplies they'd brought for the village!
"Hehe… Of course!"
After distributing the supplies to the village and clearing out any unchecked monster, the group now sat around a campfire awaiting their meals. The villagers insisted they stay the night to celebrate the quest's success. But in reality, it was so they could continue to worship Eddy.
It worked out because the caravan rider didn't want to take them back as they'd have to camp out in the wilderness halfway through the trip due to the time.
"I still can't believe that perverted ninja tied us up and left us in that caravan to fight our helpless child! What a hopeless man! Hey, I could use some more ale here!"
Aqua, her face flushed red with alcohol, ranted as she requested another round from a nearby villager who was eager to comply. What an agreeable bunch these people were. She wondered why the villagers were being so nice to them. But she was too busy to worry about such things. Party first, ask questions later!
"I know… Just when things were getting good, that spineless coward just left us there without so much as saying a word. I didn't even get to fight any of the monsters!"
Darkness complained as she too gulped down another round in frustration. Although being left to wait in anticipation for so long was a decent kind of play too...
"At least you can drink something! I didn't get to show these villagers the true power of a Crimson Magic Clansman! Ahhh! That's it! This party needs fireworks! Bare witness to a lightshow that'll reach the heavens themselves! Explooo-Mmf!?"
Megumin exclaimed, and it seemed it was her turn to go over the deep end as she snatched her staff from its resting place and prepared to launch her spell. Luckily, Darkness was able to restrain her in time.
On the other side of the campfire sat Kazuma and Eddy. Both were enjoying a mug of ale.
"-and that's why I'm lazy! If I tried harder, those three would push me to an early grave for sure! Heck, I've already died twice since coming to this world!"
Kazuma rambled on and on in a drunken speech. He wondered if the demigod would give him a lap pillow to heal his wounded soul. But then again, he couldn't get the image of that girl defeating all of those monsters by herself and even going toe-to-toe with Naruto of all people out of his head. Seriously, that had been like a fight straight out of a shonen anime.
"Hahaha! What a weird bunch you are. Hey, crazy girl! Let's have a competition to see who can make the best fireworks!"
Eddy chortled while raising her arm towards the sky to fire off a couple shots of Explosion magic in quick succession.
The party of adventurers watched with saucer-like eyes as the combustions lit up the sky in a showcase of red and orange. The villagers bowed their heads in awe and respect, but otherwise didn't seem to fear the demigod's showcase of power.
"F… F-four… B-but they were just the opening act! Time for the grand finale! Weap, oh blackness shrouded by mine light. In the name of the Crimson Demons, let the collapse of thine origin manifest! Summon before me the root of thy power hidden within the lands of the kingdom of demise! EXPLOSION!"
In the midst of the distraction, Megumin slipped out of Darkness's grasp and chanted her spell. She managed to release the Explosion before Darkness could get a hold of her again.
The resulting explosion blew the remnants of the first four away in an array of colors they hadn't previously seen with the mage's magic before. It was a beautiful sight to behold as the colors mixed and danced around with the stars.
"Wow… Okay, you win."
Eddy said as she watched the fireworks with a look of wonder.
"Nice Explosion…"
Megumin muttered weakly, her body going limp from mana exhaustion in the arms of Darkness who was currently scolding the mage.
Even Kazuma, in the midst of his drunken rambling, was in awe of the display of magic. He'd have to tell Megumin later that she'd scored one-hundred points with that one.
At that moment, Naruto appeared with a bowl trailing steam in his hands.
"One order of the Ichiraku inspired: Food of the Gods Naruto Special!"
The shinobi announced and handed the bowl to Eddy, who stared at the contents with wide eyes.
The demigod sniffed the noodles, and a loud growl came from her abdomen which further perplexed her.
"This smells wonderful! I didn't even know I had a stomach until now, but it's rumbling!"
Eddy exclaimed before snatching the chopsticks into her free hand and began to devour the Food of the Gods.
The rest of the group gulped as they enviously watched the girl eat. Even Megumin, who shouldn't have been able to move, cranked her head up to look at the delectable food.
"So… Is there any ramen for me?"
Aqua asked hopefully while tapping her fingers together, her party members sharing the same curiosity.
"Sorry guys, I only had enough to make a single bowl. Maybe next time."
Naruto replied with a shrug.
There'd been plenty of ingredients, but he'd only had just enough to make a single serving of the noodles.
So of course he was going to let Eddy have it. A promise was a promise.
"This is the greatest thing I've ever eaten, father! Ramen is the best!"
Eddy said with a mouth full of noodles, prompting the shinobi to rub the back of his head bashfully.
'It's the only thing you've ever eaten.'
Kazuma couldn't help but retort in his head. Not that he disagreed. For reasons he didn't understand, Naruto's ramen was out of this world. Both literally and figuratively.
"Hey… Eddy-chan? Why don't we eat as a family, yeah? Share with your mother?"
Aqua all but pleaded to the magic construct with her hands clasped together, but Eddy growled when she got too close which caused the priestess to flinch.
"Why! Why can't I just have some ramen!? It's been so long! Please!"
"Back off, mother! Get your own! Ah! Your tears are purifying the broth! The brooooth!"
Aqua lunged for the bowl with teary eyes but was fended off by Eddy, but some of the goddess's tears managed to fall into the broth.
Naruto, despite his precious ramen being contaminated, found himself laughing at the situation. He had been a little unsure about the magic item at first, and especially unnerved at the thought of having a trial child with Aqua, but everything turned out alright in the end.
So why did he feel… Sad?
Just then, a bright light beamed down from the sky on top of Eddy.
"Oh, I guess it's that time, huh?"
Eddy said with a half-baked smile as she looked up at the heavens.
Naruto looked at the demigod in realization. That's right… The magic item only lasted a day.
"Thank you all for this wonderful adventure. Mother, father, Lazy guy, crazy girl, and weird girl who likes to be picked on for some reason, and my beloved worshipers. Take care of Charychary for me."
Eddy said with a wide grin on her face as her body started floating into the air.
"But what about our rematch!? We still have to-Wait. What did you just say?"
Naruto said while reaching up towards the trial child he had only just bonded with, then blinked when he heard the girl say something strange. He turned to Megumin who was looking at him with a smug look, which caused the shinobi to palm his face. Of course Megumin convinced Eddy to name that magnificent monster that Naruto totally wasn't going to come back to fight later that weird name.
Naruto, slayer of Charychary… Yeah, no.
"Wait, am I 'weird girl'? Is that your first and only impression of me!? I'm not weird!"
Darkness cried with teary eyes, her face beet red.
"Yes, you are." x4
The rest of the group said in unison, causing the knight to hide her flushed face behind her hands in embarrassment.
Kazuma let out a sigh as Eddy laughed at their antics. He wasn't quite sure how to feel about this turn of events. On one hand, he was glad he wasn't going to be strung along like some human wallet to potentially be used as a hostage. But on the other hand, he was kind of sad to see the beautiful demigod go.
"Hey, Lazy Guy! Thanks for telling me all of those crazy rumors about your friends! Especially the one about my father being a player-"
"AHHHH! It's too bad we have to say goodbye Eddy! What am I ever going to do when I need to walk again! Hahaha! Hah… Hah…"
Kazuma cut in while forcing out strained laughter. He then proceeded to sweat upon feeling the four pairs of eyes burning holes through the back of his head.
A hand pressed on his shoulder, and Aqua leaned over to look at him while smiling pleasantly.
"Kazuma-san, what kind of strange things have you been telling that innocent child? Nothing good, I presume?"
Aqua asked in a tone that eerily reminded Kazuma of his own mother when she'd scolded him in the past, which made it even creepier.
Eddy continued to laugh, her body becoming transparent. This really had been a wonderful experience. She wondered what would become of her now.
Her only regret was not getting back at her father and defeating him in a rematch.
"Maybe someday… Dad."
The magic construct whispered before completely disappearing, and the pillar of light vanished.
"Ah…"
Naruto, in the midst of holding Kazuma in a headlock, frowned upon seeing his trial child disappear. He was really going to miss that girl…
'How's Aqua handling this? She was completely smitten with Eddy… I hope she's not crying.'
The shinobi thought and turned to find Aqua smiling, hand casually clasped behind her back.
"Umm… Aqua? Aren't you sad? Eddy's gone now…"
Naruto asked with a cocked eyebrow, and released the lazy teen from his hold.
"Hm? Why would I be sad? Eddy-chan just became a goddess and was summoned to Heaven. Hey, what's a goddess gotta do to get another round over here? Thank you~!"
Aqua chirped before ushering one of the villagers to fetch her another mug of ale.
Naruto and the others gaped at this revelation as Aqua downed the jug in one gulp and let out a satisfied sigh.
That magic item was definitely getting sealed.

Interlude: A Kohai for this Kohai
"..."
In the realm between life and death, Eris found herself in a position she yet to experience in all of her years as the Goddess of Luck.
Sitting in front of her was a newbie goddess. Long blonde hair and fierce cerulean eyes, the newcomer was quite beautiful. Yet, very familiar in terms of appearance. Eris was particularly focused on the three whisker marks on the girl's cheeks.
Leaving that aside for now, Eris straightened herself. It wasn't everyday that a new god or goddess ascended. Regardless of where this girl came from, she had to make a good first impression. After all, this was her first kohai.
"Welcome to the realm between life and death. My name is Eris, the Goddess of Luck. I will be guiding you on your way to becoming a full-fledged goddess. So, tell me about yourself."
That sounded perfect! She sounded formal, but friendly enough to sound like she cared to get to know the newbie.
"The name's Eddy, Goddess of the Maelstrom! Daughter of Aqua, the Goddess of Water, and Naruto, the strongest mortal!"
Eddy proclaimed while gesturing to herself proudly, and Eris instantly lost all composure as she nearly fell out of her chair from the revelation.
"Aqua-senpai and Naruto-san!? Er-I mean, I see. It's nice to meet you, Eddy-san."
Regaining her self-control, Eris's smile became strained.
When did those two cross the line!? Or rather, how did such a thing happen!?
No no no. Now wasn't the time to worry about such things, she had a job to do. Her reputation as a senpai was at stake!
"S-so! I think the best way to start things off is by having you shadow me for a couple years before we let you oversee your own world-"
"Oh! Can I oversee my father's old world!? I'm still bummed about not being able to fight the Demon King, but there's probably plenty of powerful mortals I can fight there!"
Eddy asked, eyes sparkling as she bounced in her own seat excitedly.
Eris was beginning to feel a sense of deja vu. She still didn't quite understand, nor did she want to, but this child was very much reminding her of Aqua and Naruto.
"I know! You could send me to Hell on a crusade! I'll kick major ass down there!"
"We're not sending you to Hell!"
Eris hastily responded when the newbie suggested something outrageous. Honestly, this interaction was just like-
Wait a second… This wasn't some prank Naruto was pulling on her, was it? Was Aqua in on it too? That could explain why this individual was able to ascend.
Eyes narrowing in suspicion, Eris regained her composure.
That had to be it. That was the only explanation to this wacky situation. There was no way Naruto and Aqua could have crossed the line and have a full grown child in the last few months. The very idea was ludicrous.
"Well then, Eddy-chan. Since Aqua-senpai has taken care of me in the past, I will do my best to guide you down the correct path. If you would follow me, please."
Eris said and stood up from her chair as a door materialized on her left. If she was right and this individual was just Naruto pulling her leg, well… Naruto wasn't the only one with a mischievous side.
"Hehe… Thanks!"
Eddy chirped and made her way over to her senpai's side. As the doors began to open, the blonde's eyes suddenly squinted mischievously as her gaze fell upon Eris's chest.
"Hey, is it true that they're padded?"
"Pfft…!"
