Peaceful Woods - Outskirts
While the heroes are on a mission to retrieve the Beanstar pieces and Chaos Emeralds, those who are not assigned to any mission are free to do what they want, be it training, standing by in case the heroes who are deployed needed reinforcements, trying out new things that doesnt exist in their home world, etc. Some heroes return to ther home world, trying to figure out a way to liberate it from the enemies clutches and needing an update on the current situation.
Located somewhere in Mushroom Kingdom lies a certain woods, this place is inhabited by fairies and other peaceful creatures, after Fawful take control of Mushroom Kingdom the Toads fled to this place, waiting for the day Mario and Princess Peach return to reclaim the castle.
And that day has finally come as Mario, Peach, Luigi, Daisy, Toadsworth, Starlow, Perry, Stuffwell, Paper Peach, and E. Gadd arrived at the woods outskirts.
"So this is Peaceful Woods ?" Asked Mario, assessing the location.
"Yes, If I remember correctly this is the place." Confirmed Peach.
"Does this a-means this is the same forest that Wario tried to take-a over few years ago ?" Asked Mario remembering the event that transpired years ago.
"The very same, why Cpt. Toad was the one who defeated Wario and chased him off the forest, I think he even go so far as to blown up Wario' castle with a bomb." Stated Toadsworth, surprising the heroes that Cot. Toad willing to go that far.
"Didn't know he's willing to go that far, i don't know how far Wario goes with his conquest attempt, but he must've did something so bad this time even Cpt. Toad resort to such brutal means." Commented Daisy.
"Are you a-sure you want to come professor ? Its possible a fight can happen." Said Luigi concerned about the Professor.
"Don't worry about me, I have you all here so I know i can count on all of you to protect me." Remarked E. Gadd confidently. "But in case things does gets dicey...Stuffwell ?"
Stuffwell came out of Prof E. Gadd's pocket and opened himself. "Looking for the FLUDD professor ?"
"Precisely, I carry this just in case things gets awry, thank you Stuffwell, you can get back inside." Stuffwell obeyed as he shrink himself and entered E. Gadd's pocket again.
"This a-is where Frogfucius said where everyone taking shelter, everyone must've waited for us for too long, let's a-not keep them waiting for more." Mario and co. proceed to enter the woods, as all of a sudden something fly above the heroes and landed in front of them.
The figure who appeared before them is a Koopa wearing eggshells on his head and lower torso, with the top eggshell have horn on it, the Koopa also possess bat like wings.
"Mwahahahaha ! Mario we finally meet again ! This time I will claim victory and my revenge on you will be complete !" Declared the Koopa.
The heroes just stare at the Koopa not knowing how to react nor do they recognize the Koopa standing in front of them.
"Mario do you know him ?" Asked Peach.
"Not a-sure, but he is a Koopa, so maybe he's one of Bowser's minions ?" Questioned Mario. "Umm...who are a-you again ?"
The Koopa is shocked and angry that Mario seemed to forget who he is. "What ! It's me ! Jr. Troopa ! I will refuse to believe that you forgot our fated encounters at my playground, the forest, and Bowser's Castle !"
"Umm..bro, don't you think this guy is flat as a paper ?" Luigi whispered to Mario about that one important detail.
"Yeah, looking at him he's got to be from the paper world, Maybe it's a-paper me who deal with him." Replied Mario.
"And he mistakes you for the paper you ? This kid is sure is a fool if he can't tell the difference." Commented Starlow.
"But paper me is brainwashed, if a-he mistook me for my paper counterpart then..."
"He may not be a part of Neo Subspace Army, and as for how they meet, Mario told me that he was chased by this kid on his quest to rescue the Star Spirits, that's how they met." Stated Paper Peach.
"Guess he don't know what happen to paper a-me then..." Mario commented on Jr. Troopa's obliviousness.
"Hey ! What are you all talking over there ! Don't you ignore me !" Jr. Troops throwing a temper tantrum by stomping the ground.
"Sorry, but I'm a-sure you got the wrong a-guy." Replied Mario.
"Don't play games with me ! I remember those ugly mustache everywhere ! Mario prepare yourself as your time is almost at end." Jr. Troopa glared as he fly above with his wings.
He then swoops down at high speed towards Mario, only for Mario and everyone else to dodge the incoming attack.
"Beginners luck, but now I'm being serious !" Jr. Troopa fly up again and swooping down again, but this time Mario decided to fight back, not accepting his moustache insulted, he signals Peach with eye contact, Peach seemed to understand as Mario waiting for the right time, jumped and stepped on Jr. Troopa, the impact interrupt his flying as Peach whacked him with a frying pan, sending him flying a fair distance.
As Jr. Troopa tried getting up Mario and co. draws near with Mario forming a fireball in his palm.
Jr. Troopa looked in fear seeing him completely outnumbered.
"Did a-you really think you can take me down by a-yourself ?" Threatened Mario. "You don't seem to notice my a-friends are with a-me, do you a-think they'll sit by after seeing you antagonize a-me ?"
"I-i'll be back ! And I will have my revenge !" Jr. Troopa fly away from the heroes as he vows revenge.
"Guess that won't a-be the last time we see a-him ?" Questioned Luigi.
"My Mario said he's incredibly persistent, chasing him even to an island during his journey to rescue the Star Sprites." Explained Paper Peach.
"Great, looks like we got ourself a stalker then." Sighed Daisy as she's not happy with Jr. Troopa following them around.
"He's a-gone for now, let's just enter the woods first." Said Toadsworth as the heroes went inside the woods.
Peaceful Woods
"According to Cpt. Toad the creatures living here shouldn't be hostile." Said Toadsworth.
Soon after a rustling sound can be heard.
"Waaah ! Did you hear that !" Luigi panicked as he clings to Mario.
"Yes Luigi, we a-all hear that, now please get off." Luigi remove himself from Mario.
A creature appear in front if the heroes, the creature resemble a rabbit, but with round body and shorter ears.
"Why it's just a Fuzz." Peach crouched down to greet the animal. "Hello there, we're not here to cause any harm, but do you see any Toads around here ?"
The Fuzz turned around and begin moving.
"I think it wants us to follow it." Said Peach as the heroes followed the Fuzz.
As the heroes travel deeper in the woods, they finally reached a clearing, a very large clearing, although there are several trees in said clearing which also makes a perfect hiding spot regardless.
And there is where the heroes witness many Toads living in the clearing.
One of the Toads noticed the heroes and begin sounding the alarm. "Everyone ! Princess Peach has returned !"
This alerts the other Toads as they all rushed to speak with their princess.
"Princess Peach ! I'm so glad you're safe !"
"With you and Mario here we can finally reclaim the castle !"
All the Toads cheered now that with Princess Peach return hope has return to the Toads.
"Everyone, I'm truly sorry for being away too long, but know that I would never abandon you we will one day reclaim our kingdom back !" Peach make a grand speech as the Toads cheered in joy.
"Seeing this makes me wonder how my subjects are doing as well." Commented Paper Peach watching her counterpart inspiring her subjects.
"Please not to worry, we will help you reclaim your castle too and rescue your subjects as well." Toadsworth assured Paper Peach.
"Thank you, you may be not my Toadsorth, but you're kindness is still the same as he is." Paper Peach cheered up a bit.
"Hey hold on ? Is that another Princess Peach ?" One of the Toads noticed Paper Peach standing with the heroes.
"You're right, oh this might be the one from the paper world, remember that event not too long ago ?" Said the other Toad.
"How could anyone not ? Look at the chaos it brings, not to mention we have to deal with two Bowsers as well."
"Everyone, please listen, Paper Peach is also in trouble, so she's coming with us for the time being." Explained Peach.
And soon another Toad approached the heroes, a blue Toad wearing glasses. "By boogity it really is Princess Peach ! I'm so glad you're safe, and now you have return to us."
"Toadbert ! I'm so glad you're safe as well." Peach happy seeing her attendant safe as well.
"Well we did escape through the castle secret passage, and also in case of emergency, head to the Peaceful Woods, that's what was told to all Mushroom Kingdom residents." Explained Toadbert.
"Anyway I also heard the paper version of our princess is here too ?" Asked Toadbert.
"Oh yes, here I am." Paper Peach walked towards Toadbert.
"It's pleasure to meet you, I seemed to miss when the paper scenario happened, I was on vacation with Toadiko at that time." Stated Toadbert.
"Oh that's right ! Toadbert, did Toadiko made it out ?" Asked Peach wrroied about their other attendant.
"Not to worry princess, she made it out as well, in fact since luckily paper princess is here there's something I'd like for you to see, come with me." Toadbert then walked away as the heroes followed.
"There's something for me to see ?" Paper Peach sounded confused.
The heroes reached a cave not far from the clearing, and inside the heroes are surprised to see the cave is filled with household objects like lamps, beds, chairs, tables, etc.
Peaceful Woods - Cave
"Wow ! Did Cpt. Toad prepare for all of a-this ?" Mario commented at the inside of the cave.
"He sure is, he got inspired when he visits Monstro Town a long time ago." Replied Toadbert.
"The stuff here is a-clean bro, doesn't seem like it's been left alone in ages." Luigi touched the table and found no dusts in his glove.
"This place is well kept, did the monsters in the woods maintain this place ? It's almost like a hotel in here." Commented Daisy.
The heroes looked around to see many creatures seemed to be attending the cave, a ghost like creature wiping the ceiling, a large mouthless creature carrying boxes, a mouse like creature wearing a skirt dusting the furnitures, a white onion and blue purple mushroom like creature guiding the Toads, and pink mouse like creature mop the floor.
The Dovo's flight is useful to clean the ceilings, and everyone else is very helpful, we assign the creatures for a role they suit best, the Spuds can serves as guides, and those that have limbs can do stuff like cleaning.
"Yes, well after Cpt. Toad rescue the inhabitants here, they all worked to build this cave," another Toad appear and answered Daisy's question. He's another blue Toad.
"Hinttoad ? Does this means the Toad Brigade are a-here ?" Asked Mario.
"Not all of us, some are still outside, gathering any info we can about the current state of Mushroom Kingdom, or should we say Fawful Kingdom for now." Replied Hinttoad. "Anyway it seems Sleepytoad prediction has come true yet again, he mumbles that the Princess and her hero would come here."
"He always so accurate with his dreams, unfortunately we're not here to liberate the castle just yet." Stated Peach.
"You're not ? But with Mario and Luigi here victory would be within our grasp." Toadbert is surprised by Peach's answer.
"Unfortunately Fawful isn't the only problem we have, he seems to form an alliance with Tatanga and if we liberate the castle now, it's possible he will call Tatanga for help and threaten war with Sarasaland." Answered Peach. "Not to mention with Beanbean Kingdom serving Sarasaland, Tatanga will mobilize Beanbean Kingdom to help as well."
"Oh, I see, I had no idea that things are this complicated., well anyway here we are." Toadbert stopped as the heroes stand in front of a room.
Toadbert opened the door and the heroes went inside the room.
Toadiko's Room
Inside they saw a female pink Toad with blonde hair caring for a star with a face and flat as a paper.
"Toadiko, I'm so glad you're safe !" Princess Peach gave a hug to the pink Toad.
"Princess Peach ! Thank goodness you're here !" Toadiko return the sentiment towards Peach, happy to see her princess return. "Mario and the others are here too ! So can we liberate the castle soon ?"
"Unfortunately that's not possible at the moment, if we defeat Fawful now Tatanga may declare war on Mushroom Kingdom." Explained Peach.
"So Toadbert, is there something you want me to see ?" Asked Paper Peach.
"Oh right, here there's someone on this bed, do you know who this is ?" Paper Peach looked at the bed, she gasped as she coveted her mouth, but then the room door is opened as someone went inside.
"The bathroom here is incredible with the way the walls are made, and the placement, really feels like a cavern style hotel rather than shelter." A purple Toad wearing a face veil entered the room, from the appearance alone this Toad looks like a fortune teller.
"Dr. Toadley ?" Mario is surprised to see another familiar face.
"Why if it isn't Mario...even Princess Peach is here, do I believe one day you will come back to us ? Of course I do." Replied Dr. Toadley. "Wait hang on a sec, did my eyes deceive me or are there two Princess Peach ?"
"I'm glad you're safe as well doctor, were you here traating a patient ?" Asked Peach. "And technically yes, this is my paper world counterpart."
"I see, I did heard that incident a while ago, I wonder why I never met a paper version of myself, but that's not the point right now. Although I have my doubt considering my patient is as flat as a paper, turns out there's nothing to worry about, he's just exhausted, a few days rest should be enough to have him get better." Answered Dr. Toadley.
"Right the patient, you said the patient is as flat as paper, do you know who it is Paper Peach ?" Asked Starlow.
The heroes attention turned to the bed and watch the star like creature sleeping on the bed.
"His name is Twink, and in my world his kind is called a Star Kid, a Star Kid born on Starborn Valley, and one day they must ascend to Star Haven and become a Star Spirits, they are beings capable of granting wishes." Answered Paper Peach.
"Star Spirits ? Could he be different from Star Sprites like myself, or Star Warrior like Geno ? I never heard of Star Spirits from my home." Commented Starlow.
"Maybe Star Spirits are exclusive to the paper world, and not all of them have counterparts from this world." Said Paper Peach. "For example, is there a place called Rogueport here ?"
"No, I don't think we have a place called Rogueport here." Answered Peach.
"I see, then it proves that not everything is identical between our worlds." Confirmed Paper Peach.
"Mmmgh..." Twink made a groaning sound as he opened his eyes and float. "Where am I ?"
"Twink ! You're awake !" Paper Peach rushed towards Twink and hugged him.
"Princess Peach !..." Twink then begin to cry. "Princess, this is awful, Bowser attacked Star Haven again and steal the Star Rod, and the Star Spirits are scattered once again, we tried to put up a fight, but then another Bowser appear and overwhelmed us."
"I know, and things are gonna be alright, we will save the Star Spirits." Paper Peach assured Twink that things are gonna be OK.
As Paper Peach calmed him down Twink see the not Paper Peach standing behind.
"What ! Princess Peach !? There's two of you !?" Twink understandably shocked by what he see.
"Long story short, we're in an alternate world, one that similar to ours." Explained Paper Peach. "And don't worry, they're our friends."
"Oh, I see, this is shocking, but I calmed down now, ahem hello everyone, my name is Twink, and I'm one of the Star Spirits." Twink introduce himself to the heroes.
"Twink, why don't you use your powers to find the rest of the Star Spirits ?" Asked Paper Peach, you're already as strong as them right ?"
"Unfortunately, Bowser use the Star Rod to drain our powers, and all of us used our remaining powers to limit the powers of the Star Rod, I can't make big wishes anymore, if my power is fully restored, I may be able to grant big wishes again." Explained Twink. "Although I'm still willing to try, if there are Star Spirits nearby I may still be able to find them, okay I wish to find the other Star Spirits !
Twink tried to use his wish granting powers however nothing seemed to happen.
"Nothing seemed to happen." Commented Starlow as the heroes looked around.
"I guess they're not nearby." Twink sounded disappointed.
"Dr. Toadley, can a-you use your crystal ball ?" Asked Mario.
"Can I use my crystal ball ? Of course I can." Dr. Toadley pull out his crystal ball from his robe. "O crystal ball, reveal to us the location of the Star Spirits !" Unfortunately the crystal ball doesn't show any images.
"It didn't show anything either." Point out Daisy.
"No good, whenever something like this happen is maybe they're way too far from here, too far for my crystal ball search range and it has continent wide search range." Explained Dr. Toadley.
"I promise you we will find them, so please cheer up Twink." Paper Peach tried to cheer Twink which luckily worked as Twink smiled again.
"Okay, I can't give up before even trying, Mario was able to rescue them, and so he will do it again, speaking of which where is Mario ? Our Mario."
Paper Peach is hesitant to answer as she knows what's going on, but she sees no reason to hide things as she decided to be honest quickly. "Unfortunately our Mario is under the enemy control."
"What !? He got caught ? Errmm...well I'm sure I can free him, assuming the controller is weak..., I'm sorry but my powers are too limited right now."
"Our Mario is under control by an object called Floor Sprout, all we need to do is to remove it and our Mario will be free." Explained Paper Peach.
"If it just that then maybe I can make it happen, but still getting close to Mario is dangerous, he may not give me a time to make my wish came true." Stated Twink.
"Is there anything we can do to help him ?" Asked Peach.
Stuffwell then came out if E. Gadd's pocket. "Not sure if this is possible but why not try eating star bits."
"That is a possibility, maybe we a-should take Twink with us back to the mansion, let's a-see if Rosalina still have star bits to share." Commented Mario.
"Dr. Toadley can you show us the current state of the kingdom using your crystal ball ?" Asked Peach.
"Can I show the kingdom with my crystal ball ? Of course I can." Dr. Toadley use his crystal ball to see the state of Mushroom Kingdom, an image appears on the crystal ball and shows the Mushrrom Kingdom...or rather Fawful Kingdom.
The image shows the kingdom now heavily resemble Fawful with his statues and posters are everywhere.
"This is just like a-when he invaded the kingdom the first time." Remembered Mario.
"There are Toads that didn't make it to escape the kingdom, they look afraid for some reason." Daisy pointed at the scared looking Toads.
And then the heroes witnessed several other Toads that looks a lot like Fawful, with green skin and perpetually smiling face and wearing glasses.
"What the !?" Why are those Toads resemble Fawful !?" Exclaimed Daisy. "They're not turning traitors are they !?"
"No, they're a-being Fawfulized." Answered Luigi.
"Fawfulized ?" Asked Daisy.
"Yeah, usually they're just robots made to serve as Fawful's army but and built with Fawful's face, but some cases some are aninals brainwashed into serving Fawful." Answered Luigi.
"That exactly what happens." Another voice can be heard from outside as the heroes turned around to see a red Toad wearing a headlight and explorer outfit, next to him is a green and purple Toad and female pink Toad with braided hair.
"Cpt. Toad ! Banktoad ! Toadette ! Mailtoad !" Exclaimed Hinttoad.
"The entirety of Toad Brigade is here I see." Commented E. Gadd.
"Not quite, Sleepytoad not here." Corrected Peach.
"He's sleeping in the next room." Answered Hinttoad.
"We just got back from Mushroom Kingdom, and things are rather bad, apparently Fawfulization is considered a reward by Fawful, those who acted like a model citizen are 'rewarded' by being Fawfulized." Answered Cpt. Toad.
"W-when did this happens !" Exclaimed Peach.
"A while after Fawful managed to take kingdom, after he renovate the kingdom to his image Fawful begin creating robots that resemble has s face, but that isn't enough, he wants the citizens to look like him too." Stated Toadette.
"The people that didn't managed to escape wrote letters, hoping what they wrote will be exposed to the world, Mailtoad have been managing the letters and sharing information, and as you can see we're not much of a fighter." Explained Cpt. Toad. "We can gather info and sharing knowledge, but when it comes to fighting not much."
"As much as we'd like to reclaim the castle as soon as possible doing so would be a difficult prospect, if we raise our arm against Fawful, Tatanga will mobilize forces from Sarasaland and Beanbean Kingdom to aid Fawful." Explained Peach.
"I see, so we won't be just dealing with one country, but three of them right ? That is a difficult ordeal." Commented Toadette.
"Well, if that's the problem why can't we do the same ? We asked for help from other countries." Stated Toadiko which surprised the others.
"By boogity ! That is a brilliant idea ! We should gather an army to fend off the forces of Beanbean Kingdom and Sarasaland." Exclaimed Toadiko. "While we take back our kingdom !"
"Wait we can't a-forget Princess Shroob !" Remind Luigi.
"Oh right, I can't believe we forgot about her, you said she took control of Bowser's castle right ?" Asked Starlow.
"Yeah, and honestly having Bowser and his minions on our side will too tip the scales in our favor." Said Peach. "Maybe liberating them should be our priority ?"
"But if we attack Bowser's Castle won't a-Princess Shroob calls for back up as well ?" Questioned Luigi.
"You're right, we may have to sneak in, since Bowser know more about his castle we need his input." Replied Peach.
"Please don't be to harsh to my subjects, they're just brainwashed by the enemy." Pleaded Daisy.
"Right, oh and Banktoad this is a perfect a-timing, do you have Star Bits with you ?" Asked Mario.
"Star Bits ? I still have them, but I only have 10 left, the rest is in our space ship the Star Shroom." Answered Banktoad.
"Where is your spaceship ?" Asked Luigi.
"It's...at the castle." Banktoad answered dejectedly.
"We just have to make do with what we have." Said E. Gadd.
Banktoad then give Mario the Star bits. "Here you go."
"Thanks, so Twink why don't a-you try this ? It may be able to restore your powers." Mario put the star bits on his palm.
"Okay, I'll try." Twink fly close to Mario's hand and begin eating the star bits.
"Oh ! This is delicious." After finishing all the star buts Twink felt something in his body. "I feel energized, I think I can try granting slightly big wishes, any requests ?"
"Okay let's try this, our wish is still the same as the first one." Answered Mario.
"Okay, locate the Star Spirits it is." Twink once again tried to locate the Star Spirits, but he doesn't see anything again.
"No use, I still can't find them, although my search range is slightly increased." Answered Twink.
"Small progress, but progress nonetheless, then that settles it, we need to gather star bits to help Twink regain his powers." Said Paper Peach.
"Okay, but first do you think we should return to the castle ? We need to search every nook and cranny to find an opening to retake the castle." Suggested Mario.
"There won't be any need to go to the castle directly for I have my crystal ball to help us, now crystal ball show us the state of Mushroom Kingdom !" Dr. Toadley uses his crystal ball to see the Mushroom Kingdom again, it shows the situation at Toad Town first.
"Hmm..Toad Town is full of Fawfulized enemy, if we attack the castle, Fawful will surely call them for reinforcements." Said Daisy.
"Then we need to cut off route from the town to the castle, we could raise the bridge, but I doubt that's enough to stop them ?" Asked Peach.
"What about the secret passage ?" Suggested Toadbert.
"That could be our only option to get in." Retroted Peach.
"Still, after hearing from Bowser and the others, Fawful is trying to form alliances, but will Tatanga and Princess Shroob come to his rescue ? We can't just gamble on this possiblity that they would or wouldn't." Said Daisy.
"Not to mention, the entire Neo Subspace Army is also under Fawful back and call." Pointed out Mario.
"Even if we ousted Fawful, he still can call the Neo Subspace Army to take the castle back from us." Added E. Gadd.
"That's true, and killing him is not an option either as he is a Warrior of Fallen Stars." Said Luigi.
"Then the only answer is to trophify him, do what we did with Cpt. Falcon." Suggested Toadsworth.
"Finish him off at World of Trophy ? That is a great idea." Agreed Perry.
As the heroes discussing potential plans to recalaim the castle the others are confused as they're unable to follow the conversation.
"Umm..all of you seem to know something that we don't." Stated Cpt. Toad.
"Sorry, this is a long story but I'll just give you the short version." Peach begin telling her subjects on what's been going on.
"By boogity ! Fawful have backings om another world ! Is that why we can't just reclaim the castle !" Toadbert is shocked after hearing Peach's story.
"The problem is if we focused our forces to defend Peach's Castle the enemy still have manpower to do their evil deeds in other worlds, we can't have them ignore their worlds just for ours." Continued Mario.
"If a-only there's a way to cut off their support network." Sighed Luigi.
"That would be difficult, considering we don't know how many portals they have here linked to who knows how many worlds." Said Daisy.
"Then should a-we aim to the source ?" Asked Mario. "They do say that this portals are created by a Pokemon named Palkia right ?"
"Then you wished to rescue Palkia ? True, if we succeed it will cause major setback for the enemy, not to mention we would have a powerful ally on our side as well." Pondered Peach.
"All we need to know is where they keep Palkia ? It can't be somewhere easy to find." Said Starlow.
"There's too many option, it could be anywhere." Added Luigi.
"Wait, Red came back with a Pokemon called Mesprit, and Mesprit is a Pokemon that is created from Arceus, the god of Pokemon world, and Arceus also created Palkia as well right ?" Asked Mario.
"So you plan to ask Arceus through Mesprit about the whereabouts of Palkia ?" Asked Peach. "But the enemy have deities on their side as well, Palkia could be guarded by the enemy deities, what if they can block Arceus's omniscience ?"
The heroes looked down again as another chance seems futile, however Mario perked up again as he remember another way. "It's too a-soon to give up ! There's a-still someone who can help us, the same person who told us where the professors souls are located."
"Death ? Well he used to be one of the enemies higher inner circle, if anyone know where Palkia is, it's him." Said Perry.
"Then that's settles it, after we got back we asked Palutena about Death's condition." Suggested Peach.
A yawning sound can be hears from outside as oad enters the room. "This is quite the gathering, I know I've seen this in my dream, but still.."
"You finally wake up you sleepyhead." Cpt. Toad said to Sleepytoad.
"Yeah, it was a long dream, a nightmare f I'm being g honest, so I guess the forest isn't frozen yet ?" Sleepytoad told his dream to everyone.
"Frozen forest ?" Asked Peach.
"Yeah, Fawful send his minion Midbus to come here after finding out that you're here." Explained Sleepytoad.
"What a-the !? How did he a-know we're here !?" Exclaimed Mario.
"I saw in my dream a flat koopa told you where you are." Continued Sleepytoad.
"Could it be that koopa kid we dealt with earlier ?" Pondered Peach.
"If that's a-true we must be prepared ! Sleepytoad, is Midbus alone ?" Asked Mario.
"No, he came with a whole army, and they all seems to resemble Fawful for some reason." Answered Sleepytoad.
"We're gonna get ready, Luigi and I will fend Midbus off, the rest of you should stand guard here." Ordered Mario.
"Well if it's Mario and Luigi I'm sure they can fend them off, but if you need extra hand then you can always call us for help." Said Daisy.
"Yeah about that, this cave is going to be attacked as well, so its a two prong strike, I saw a young witch with green hair leading the charge with a purple monster with her." Explained Sleepytoad.
"Purple monster ? Could it be Tatanga ?" Asked a concerned Daisy.
("That description, could it be her ?") Cpt. Toad seems to be familiar with the witch Sleepytoad describe.
"We can't be sure yet, but whether it's Tatanga or not he will not get you." Peach assured Daisy.
"You're right Peach, if anything I should be angry at him for usurping my throne and brainwashing my subjects again." Daisy found her resolve to fight.
"Don't forget me princess, I'll gobble up any enemies that come near us." Said Perry.
"Please don't eat my subjects." Groaned Daisy.
"Don't worry Mario, you can leave the rest to us, you and Luigi stop Midbus outside and we stop whoever it is Sleepytoad describe here." Assured Peach.
"If you're going to go against Midbus I want to help too, if there's something you find useful inside please take it." Stuffwell opens himself as Mario looked at the objects inside him.
"Ah, this should a-do the trick." Mario pull out a Magic Window and puts it in his pocket.
"Okay, let's a-go Luigi !" Mario and Luigi about to leave the cave, but Twink stops them.
"Not yet, allow me to help." Twink used his powers to give Mario and Luigi a boost in physical strength and defense. "You two should be harder to beat now."
"Thank a-you Twink, okay Luigi now we face Midbus !" Luigi nodded and followed after Mario outside the cave.
"Let me help you with this too." Twink did the the same to Peach, Daisy, and the others. "I wish I could do more, but I'm not at full power yet."
"No Twink, this is enough, and don't worry, despite being kidnapped often, we're stronger than we look when it counts." Assured Paper Peach.
"Twink you should hide here, I believe it would be best if the enemy doesn't know your existence." Suggested Toadette.
"Alright, it would be bad if the enemy decided to go after me." Twink agreed with Toadette.
"We should tell Mario and Luigi about this too." Peach pull out her golden plate and used it to call Mario, telling him not to mention Twink's name for his safety. "Okay Mario get the message."
"Then we only need to wait for the attack then." Said Daisy.
"The witch will teleport to the hallway right outside this room, I suggest you head there." Sleepytoad opened the door.
"Right, let's get ready Daisy, Paper me." Peach, Daisy, and Paper Peach left the room to confront the soon to come enemy.
Peaceful Woods - Outskirts
Meanwhile in the forest...
"So, bro how long do you think Midbus will show up ?" Asked Luigi. "I mean we don't a-know if he will attack today."
"Sleepytoad did a-say that paper koopa we beat will spill everything." Said Mario.
"But to mount an attack right away ? That's seems hard to a-do." Pondered Luigi.
"Remember that Fawful have almost the entire kingdom brainwashed, and not to mention he made those fawfulized robots that look like a-him." Added Mario. "He could easily assembled an army in minutes."
"W-well I a-guess that's true." Sighed Luigi.
As Luigi looked up he saw something flying nearby, it looks like a flying saucer. "Bro ! Look at that !" Luigi shook Mario's body and pointed upward.
"Mama-mia ! A Fawfulcopter ! They're coming !" Exclaimed Mario.
And soon after from the distance several figures show themselves, as Midbus walked in the middle, he's surrounded by Fawful lookalikes and also there's a familiar figure flying next to Midbus.
"You sure this so where you saw th ?" Midbus asked the flying figure.
"Yes, they're here alright, I promise I will have my revenge on Mario, it's a good thing I found you guys when I was flying over your kingdom." Said Jr. Troopa.
"When you mention the name Mario in our kingdom I know we can't stay silent, which is why lord Fawful agreed to mobilize the army." Replied Midbus.
"Luigi, we can't let them destroy this forest, we have to stop them before they reached the forest." Said Mario as he went to confront Midbus.
"W-wait for me bro !" Luigi soon follow after Mario.
Seeing Mario and Luigi standing outside the forest, Midbus stops his advance. "Well well well, if it isn't Mario and Luigi himself, how kind of you to show yourself to us, guess we won't need to attack the forest to lure you out then."
"We won't let a-you destroy this forest !" Exclaimed Mario pointing at Midbus.
"Well that depends on you is it ? Since you decided to show yourself, we don't have to attack the forest, now surrender yourself to lord Fawful !" Ordered Midbus.
"And if we won't ?" Mario taunting Midbus.
"Then I will have no choice but to use force ! Everyone ! Attack !" Midbus commanded his minions to attack Mario and Luigi.
Mario and Luigi are confronted by an army of Mechawfuls, large robots with Fawful's face, they all fly towards the brothers and attempt to ram them, however as they almost reached Mario, Mario grabbed the robot's arm, he spins around and let go, aiming at the other robots and causing them all to collide.
Luigi is surrounded by flying Mechawfuls as well, and as the Mechawfuls about to charge Luigi, he jumped out of the way and the Mechawfuls crashing into each others instead.
Next as Mario dealt the finishing blows to the Mechawfuls by smashing them with his hammer, he didn't notice that there's a Crawful, a crocodile brainwashed by Fawful is standing behind trying to bite Mario, however Luigi noticed this and blasted the creature with an electric attack, saving Mario from being attacked.
With Mario is now done desteoying the Mechawfuls he is now surrounded by Chain Chawfuls, a Chain Chomps brainwashed by Sworms that are also brainwashed by Fawful, making the worm also have Fawful's face.
"Oh oh" Mario is chased by Chain Chawfuls, above the Chain Chawfuls there's a Fawfulcopter above them, Luigi jumped towards the Fawfulcopter and grab on to it. From the sky Luigi blast the Sworms latching in the Chain Chomps, releasing the Chain Chomps from the mind control, once all the Chain Chomps are freed Luigi punched the Fawfulcopter, destroying it as he jumped from it.
The Fawfulcopter fell and exploded, and the Chain Chomps all flee.
"Thanks bro." Mario thanked Luigi, but its still no time to celebrate as now a swarm of Fawfloppers, this time grasshoppers brainwashed by Fawful and having his face are now the one to confront the brothers.
One Fawflopper jumped above Luigi and about to crush him, Mario push Luigi out of harms way as the Fawflopper missed it's intended target, Mario grabbed the Fawflopper and punched the brainwashed bug away.
Luigi got up and a Fawflopper jumped in front of him, Luigi jumped and stomped on the bug monster.
The remaining Fawfloppers jumping around which makes them hard to hit, and then one of them lunges into Mario, however thanks to being empowered by Twink earlier, Mario isn't affected much by the attack, Mario then engulf his fist in flame and punched the monster.
Luigi create a medium size tornado and it suck in a Fawlopper, Mario formed a large fireball on his hand and throw it on the tornado, combining it and creating a fire tornado, it suck in every Fawflopper nearby and burning them to a crisp as a result, completely decimating Midbus's army.
"We took a-down your army ! Does that a-mean your next Midbus ?" Mario provoking Midbus to fight.
"Yes I am, I can't disappoint my master." Replied Midbus determined to succeed his mission.
"I will have my payback as well." Jr. Troopa also ready for a fight.
Midbus do a belly flop as he launches himself in the air while Jr. Troopa fly with his wings and fire off magic blast from his wand.
Mario and Luigi dodging all of Jr. Troopa's attack as they're running and jumping to avoid being hit, however they forgot Midbus who finally landed and the impact create a huge shockwave that blasted the brothers, sending them flying until they crashed to a tree.
"Now that's what I'm talking about !" Jr. Troopa state his excitement of the possibility of beating Mario.
Midbus curled up into a ball and Jr. Troopa enhanced Midbus power with his magic, as Midbus rolled towards the brothers, Mario and Luigi got up and run towards Midbus as they use their strength to block him, thanks to Twink's power Mario and Luigi able to hold off Midbus, however Midbus is also empowered by Jr. Troopa's magic, which makes them locked in stalemate.
"We can't a-keep this up." Said Mario who is blocking a still rolling Midbus.
While Mario and Luigi is still holding Midbus Jr. Troopa fly above and about to blast the brothers using his magic, he charged up energy in his wand and fire a large ball of magical energy towards the brothers, blasting them away and no longer holding Midbus back as the monster rolls forward and colliding with Mario and Luigi, the brothers got hit and send flying a fair distance.
Midbus now change course as he roll at high speed towards Mario and Luigi.
"He's a-coming !" Mario got up bracing for impact, but Luigi have an idea.
"Bro, use the Chopper Bros technique." Suggested Luigi.
Mario agreed as he hit Luigi with a hammer until he got buried, now as Midbus almost reach Mario, Luigi burst from the ground and uppercut the pig armadillo monster away from his brother, Midbus is sent flying from the uppercut.
"What the !? Don't you think you've won ! I'm still here !" Exclaimed Jr. Troopa as he about to blast the brothers with his magic however Mario unleash a stream of fire from his hands at the koopa bully, Jr. Troopa then scampering around for being on fire.
Midbus soon landed and the impact from the fall create a small crater. Angry, Midbus once again curled up into a ball and rolled towards the brothers.
"Mario ! Midbus is coming back !" Luigi pointed at the rolling Midbus.
However as Midbus gets close he uncurled himself, he jumped and begin his belly flop attack, he bounced with his stomach and launched himself to the air.
"Luigi I got a-this." Mario searched his pocket and pull put a Magic Window item.
As Midbus about to fall at the heroes Mario throw the Magic Window above, it sucks him in and the Magic Window disappear. The object then reappear above a still panicking Jr. Troopa and obviously Midbus ended up belly flopping Jr. Troopa instead, at least it put out the fire on him.
The unexpected landing made Midbus flinched as he struggles to get up, Mario and Luigi walked closer and uppercut him once again,.this time together, sending Midbus flying far away.
Jr. Troopa on the other hand ifainted from being crushed by Midbus.
"We successfully deal with a-them here, hopefully things are fine inside as well." Wondering how things go inside Mario and Luigi return to the cave.
Peaceful Woods - Cave
Not long after Mario and Luigi left the cave...
"So according to Sleepytoad the enemy should appear here." Peach holding Perry and Daisy stand in the hallway.
"Okay I already told the Toads and the forest creatures to hide in the rooms while the fight occurs." Paper Peach joined Peach and Daisy after evacuating everyone.
"Thank you, and I suppose all the furniture's and breakable objects are already stored inside the rooms as well ?" Asked Peach.
"Yeah, the forest creatures do work together well." Commented Paper Peach.
"That they are, it is awful how Wario tried to brainwash them before." Replied Peach. "Thankfully Cpt. Toad was able to stop him."
"Okay, everyone's inside, all of the furniture's already inside as well, now all we have to do is to wait for the enemy to appear, thanks to Sleepytoad and everyones efforts there's nothing to distract us now." Daisy voiced her readiness.
Soon a magic circle appear on the floor in front of the princesses and two figures appear, it appears the magic circle is a part of teleportation magic. The two figures that appeared exactly the same as Sleepytoad's description.
"I knew it ! It is Sarissa, so the purple monster with her is Katsini, I haven't seen them for a very long time." Stated Cpt. Toad peering from the window.
"You know them captain ?" Asked Toadette.
"Yeah, they were Wario's minions when he tries to take over this forest, I don't know what kind of powers they develop during their absence, if worse come to worse we have to step in and help the princesses." Said Cpt. Toad as the others inside the room nodded in agreement.
"We're finally her..Gwahh..." The witch and the purple alien got blasted by Peach's heart beam as they both fell down. "Who did that ! Don't you know you're not supposed to hit a lady !?"
"Hey ! Hey ! Sarissa I got hit too you know, it's not fair hat men get ignored when they got hit !" Katsini yelled at his partner.
"Oh quit complaining ! Men can take hits better !" Rebutted Sarissa. "That's what I admit something that men better than women at !"
"Oh I'm sorry, was that too soon ?" Stated Peach, faking an apology.
"So it's a woman who attacked us, how will you respond Sarissa ?" Katsini snarked at Sarissa.
"Hmm..? Tatanga is that you ?" Daisy asked Katsini who greatly resemble her usurper. "Dressing fancy will not win me over."
"I'm not Tatanga, my name is Katsini, he's a wanted criminal, and as for me...I'm a super villain !" Boasted Katsini.
"Guess my speeches won't work this time since the enemy us a woman, anyway we're here to retrieve Princess Daisy, Tatanga need you to return to Sarsasaland, after all we can't have a wedding without a bride." Explained Sarissa.
"He must be crazy if he expect me to say yes !" Daisy replied angrily. "And you ! Katsini was it ? You call yourself a super villain ?"
"Yes, it sounds better than criminal right ? I'm curious what Tatanga see in this world, turns out this place is beautiful, and I can't explain it, but there's something about this world that makes me want it as well." Explained Katsini. "Of course what makes me fascinating is I'm a stage magician by day, super villain by night.
"Well if you're threatening my kingdom we won't stand by and watch !" Exclaimed Peach.
"I'd rather avoid fighting, but if you refuse to come then there's no other choice." Sarissa and Katsini readied themselves for a fight.
Peach fired of a heart shaped beam, but this time Sarissa teleported out of the way and reappeared at the same spot.
Daisy bind Katsini using her flower vine, tightening her grip on the purple alien, as Katsini is suffocating from Daisy tightening her vine, Katsini tapped himself using his cane and he turned into a swarm of birds, surprising Daisy.
Unbeknownst to her Katsini appeared behind Daisy and attenpt trap her inside a saw box, however Paper Peach able to push Daisy out of the way, and she's the one got trapped inside.
Katsini astonished that he failed to capture his intended target, and so Daisy run towards him and about to punch Katsini, however Katsini threw a sharp card towards Daisy's dress, he aimed at the bottom gown and pinned her dress to the floor.
"Hahaha I got you now, I won't miss this time." Katsini summon another box and about to trap Daisy inside, however she retaliate by summoning a storm of flower petals and sicc it at Katsini, as petals destroy the box and Katsini got attacked too as a result.
Peach is shooting her at beams at Sarissa, but the witch keep teleporting to avoid Peach's attack.
Sarissa then used her broom to swipe dust on Peach's face as she covered her eyes. Sarissa used her magic to duplicate herself, Sarissa and her clones combined their powers to trap Peach inside a magic barrier.
As the clones detain Peach, the real Sarissa decided to help Katsini, she used her magic to create magical binding and bound Daisy with it, the bindings resemble metallic chain, but instead made of metal it made of magical energy.
"Aargh ! What is this !" Daisy struggled to break free from the binding.
"Once again it's up to me to do most of the heavy work, you can always thank me later Katsini, or right now is also a good time." Sarissa boasting her success.
Katsini annoyed by Sarissas bragging respond sarcastically "Yeah yeah, you're the greatest Sarissa what would we do without you, well we got Daisy, all that's left is to present her to Tatanga." Katsini walked towards Daisy in order to carry her.
"You get away from me ! I will never marry Tatanga ! He will never have Sarasaland as Ling as I'm still alive !"
"Quit struggling ! if you have an issue go say it to Tatanga himself." Complained Katsini as he tries to carry Daisy.
Daisy about to use her powers again as glowing petals surrounding her.
"A a a, you attack us and your subjects will suffer the consequences." Sarissa threatens to harm Daisy's subjects should she resist capture.
Daisy cease any fighting attempt and after hearing the threat from Sarissa, however she still have another idea. "Okay I won't attack you, but no one said about me attacking myself."
Both Sarissa and Katsini confused about this statement.
Daisy used her powers on herself, as she encased herself in large crystal.
"What the ! She imprison herself !" Katsini is shocked by what Daisy do to herself.
"This shouldn't be a problem, there's nothing my magic can't do." Sarissa about to use her magic to release Daisy.
Meanwhile Peach is still trapped inside the barrier. "This isn't good, I can't let them take Daisy to Tatanga."
"Isn't there any way to break free from this barrier ?" Asked Perry.
"It would be hard with these clones channeling their magic to maintain their barrier." Peach looked at the Sarissa clones.
"If only there's a way to nulify their magic, we could be free by now." Stated Perry.
At that moment Peach came to a realization. "Wait a minute I do have a technique that an seal off magic !" Remembering that she can seal of magic Peach remember her Mute spell, she summon a blue ballonn with an X mark and it flew above Sarissa. As the two still didn't realize the balloon above them, Peach then snapped her finger.
"Okay now time to cast the spell." Before Sarssa can do anything the balloon above popped and startling both Sarissa and Katsini. Sarissa tried to yell however, voices doesn't came out from her mouth. Sarissa panicked as not only her voice won't come out, she also tried to use her magic to fix her condition only to realize her magic doesn't work at all.
"Looks like it worked." Commented Perry seeing Sarissa and Katsini's reaction.
'But the barrier doesn't disappear." Peach realize she and Perry are still trapped.
"Guess sealing her magic doesn't mean her previous spells are undone." Remarked Perry.
"Okay Perry I'm going to charge you with my power, I want you to unleash very powerful Chargebrella, not only to destroy the barrier, but also the clones." Explained Peach.
"Leave it to me princess." Peach charged her energy at Perry as he gather those energy, power is swelling inside Perry, Perry glow in yellow pinkish aura and then he unleash the most powerful Chargebrella ever, the beam of light pierced through the barrier and hit one of the Sarissa clones, Peach rotating Perry to continue breaking the barrier and destroy the Sarissa clones.
With the Sarissa clones all destroyed, there's no one else to maintain the barrier as the barrier disintegrates.
With the barrier now gone Peach quickly approach Sarissa and Katsini, Peach tapped Sarissa's shoulder, and as the, witch turn around, Peach smacked her with Perry, knocking her down.
And now Peach set her sights on Katsini, knowing he can't win with his powers sealed, the alien grabbed his hat and pull out a black plate, he then used it to teleport himself and Sarissa away.
"They escaped." Perry sighed in disappointment.
"We'll meet them again, for now we have other matters." Peach approached the box where Paper Peach is trapped. "Paper me ? Are you okay in there ?"
"Other me is that you ?" Replied Paper Peach from inside the box.
"Yes, I managed to chased Katsini and Sarissa away, we're safe for now." Answered Peach.
"Okay, can you get me out of this box ? I already e edverything, but doesn't seem like it can be opened from the inside." Said Paper Peach.
"I'm going to destroy it, so take cover or something." Hearing this Paper Peach crouched down.
"I'm crouching down, so feel free to blast this box away." Paper Peach giving Peach the cue to attack.
"You heard her, ready Perry ?" Asked Peach.
"Ready princess." With Perry's approval Peach charged her magic into Perry as they're ready to blast another powerful Chargebrella, Perry then unless his powerful Chargebrella which destroys the box.
The box is now destroyed as Paper Peach stand up and stepped outside the box and looking at the crystallized Daisy. "I've heard what Daisy says, but to think she's willing to make a sacrifice like this."
"We can help her." Peach nodded to her paper counterpart, but before she do anything, with Sarissa and Katsini retreating the Toads and the forest creatures leave their rooms and gathered around Peach.
"Princess Daisy willing to do anything to avoid marrying Tatanga she imprison herself inside this huge crystal." Stated Starlow.
"I'm going to break the crystal, someone better get ready to catch her should Daisy fall." Peach used her power to undo Daisy's powers, she placed her hand on the crystal and unleash a glow from her hand, and as she let go of her hand soon the crystal cracked, the cracks getting longer with no sign of stopping until the crystal shatters, Daisy is falling down as a result, but thanks to Peach's command the Toad Brigade are ready to catch the falling Daisy.
"Uuh, am I free ?" Daisy is still groggy after being released from her imprisonment.
"Daisy i'm glad you're okay." Peach hugged her cousin.
"Sorry for worrying you Peach, I wasn't thinking straight, all I want to do was to be kept away from Tatanga by all means, and so I use my crystal powers imprison myself." Explained Daisy. "That girl, she's a witch isn't she, I don't want to know what kind of spells she can use on me."
"Sarissa is a witch, she must know plenty of spells to defeat her enemies, furthermore its been ages since I last saw her, who knows what new spells she's mastered by now." Said. Cpt. Toad.
"How do you know her name Cpt. Toad ?" Asked Peach.
"Because I've met them before, Sarissa and Katsini are Wario's minions when he tried to take over this forest." Explained Cpt. Toad.
"Sorry I wasn't much help, based on Sleepytoad's description, it does looks like he describe Sarissa, but haven't seen her for so long, I didn't think it's actually her." Continued Cpt. Toad.
"We're a-back you guys !" Mario shouted from afar as the brothers returned.
"Mario, Luigi you're back ! How are things on your end ?" Asked Toadsworth.
"Midbus did show a-up with many Fawfulized enemies." Said Luigi.
"But we beat them a-all." Mario finished Luigi's sentence.
"And you're a-right, that paper koopa is the reason Midbus come a-here." Luigi said to Sleepytoad.
"We're also just finished on our end as well." Said Peach. "Apparently they're here to bring Daisy's back to Sarasaland in order to marry Tatanga."
"I will not agree to this wedding, if Tatanga marry me, it would legitimize his rule of Sarasaland and I refuse him that, and to be my king." Daisy put her hands in her hips to voice her disapproval.
"Y-yeah ! Tatanga must never marry Daisy !" Exclaimed Luigi which makes Daisy smile.
"Thank you Sleepytoad, if it werent for you the forest will be frozen from Midbus's power, we also have to thank a-you too Twink, thanks to your a-help we were able to defeat Midbus easily." Mario thanked the Star Spirit.
"Haha, I'm glad if i'm able to help." Twink happy from the compliment.
"Me too, because of you stopping Midbus the forest isn't end up frozen." Said Sleepytoad.
"Well make a-sure he won't have time to transform in to his blizzard form !" Exclaimed Mario.
"Everyone I'm truly sorry, but we can't retake the castle today, we don't know for certain, but Fawful and Tatanga is backed by powerful organization, there's a chance they will try to take the castle back should we succeed in ousting them." Explained Peach.
"We understand princess and please don't worry, the Peaceful Woods have abundance of resources such as food, we can stay here for as long as possible." Assured Toadiko.
"Alright then, but if you have any trouble, here." Peach gave Toadbert her golden plate. "This is not a real good bar, but a communication device, it let us talk even if we're in completely different worlds." Explained Peach as she teach Toadbert on how to use the golden plate."
"So then, if you all leave shouldn't we have someone protecting this place ? The enemy can come back here right ?" Asked Toadette.
"Don't worry, I think I can do something." Twink used his powers to envelop the forest with an invisible barrier. "The forest is now enveloped in a barrier, anyone who came here with evil intent will be magically teleported away."
"Everyone wait !" E. Gadd raised his hand, "I decided to stay here as well, I want to help the Toads however I can."
"Really Professor ? I hope you don't plan on taking the kingdom all by yourself ?" Peach looked at E Gadd with suspicion.
"Of course I won't do something so impossible, as you know I run a cafe in Beanbean Kingdom, I can use that to check on the situation in the kingdom, and we need all my invention if were going to stand a chance in reclaiming the castle." Explained E. Gadd.
"Okay that's a settles it, we understand professor, guess it's a-time to leave." Mario pull out his golden plate and and teleport the heroes as they wave goodbye to the Toads and E. Gadd in the cave.
Meanwhile...
Bowser Kingdom
Not long after Mario and the others left to visit Peaceful Woods, Bowser went in to check on his other castles, the one with eastern designs.
"Hmm...doesn't seem the enemy got their hands on this castle, maybe I can use this one...as much as I want to do this myself, I need their help, to reclaim my castle and minions back." Bowser pondered to himself as he also teleported away.
And done, another writer block kept me from finishing this chapter on time.
So for this battle scene Sarissa and Katsini are enemies from the games Wario Woods, which is a Tetris like game so i have to come up from scratchwith Sarissa and Katsini powers, as Sarissa a witch her power is obviously magic, while Katsini's powers are based on stage magic.
While in the games Katsini and Tatanga relationship is unknown, here Tatanga and Katsini are the same species and came from the same planet, both Tatanga and Katsini are criminals in their home planet.
So in my fic the Toad that fought Wario in Wario Woods and Cpt. Toad are the same person.
