Chapter 41

A gloomy day, a dark day for the world, as they all woke up to the terrible news of an entire country being erased from the map like it never existed in the first place. Millions of death and countless smaller countries on the South Pacific Ocean were victims of a powerful earthquake and tsunami. At first, everyone thought it was just a terrible and horrific misfortune. A calamity caused by a natural disaster. One that people were used to seeing with their own eyes, experiencing and could hold hands with the victims, show condolence, and hope that they would all go forward.

Yet, no one expected what came out in the news. Every single outlet, in every single tv, all over the Internet, worldwide. They all saw the power of one of the Primordials. It was the same one that attacked an entire city in Japan and almost wiped it out. That small masked creature has erased a whole country and caused damage beyond imagining. That was the moment the world stopped. That was when they realised they were facing a threat more prominent than they thought.

And for the first time, ever since the first days of Heroes and Villains. The world came together.

The United Nations joined to put the Primordials on a level created just for them. Clearly, they weren't just "villains" from organised crime. Or an underground syndicate. No, they were enemies of the world. Entities who overshadow any other villain from any nation. Monsters who care too little for humanity.

And during a very long conference that was seen all over the globe. The UN stated that the Primordials were a "World Threat", or as they would soon be known colloquially across the world "World Enders". Beings so unbelievably powerful that, to face them, the nations would use their armies to hunt them out. An alliance was created between the World Powers and their respective Top Heroes. The next time a Primordial appeared, it was all hands on deck. All calls would be put on hold, from the most minor police officer on the street to the top hero in a country. They would all answer the call. Certainly, it was more complex than it sounds.

Such a mobilisation was unprecedented and could cause internal problems for a country. Or other countries for that matter. No one wanted their armies to be destroyed, or their Top heroes killed. So, there was still a lot of back and forth about how to do things.

But The Primordials were the world's biggest and most powerful entities. And they knew, that even if the Top Heroes of all the world united, it would be still a suicide mission. So, the only way they have now was to join forces. Still, the new category designated to them would reflect how the nations would treat them from now on. However, the question remains. What are they looking for? What is their goal? Who are they, and where did they come from? No one knew, and that was what put people on edge. Especially to those who only clue where to strange ruins they found in Japan and soon across the world.

Soon, the UN dispatched multiple parties to search for these unspoken ruins. Surprisingly, they found them all scattered around the world. All telling a part of an ancient history lost to mankind. Many scientists were taken aback by the fact these ancient ruins weren't discovered before. It didn't make sense. But then again, nothing ever did. Still, the Primordials were real, and so was everything else. And many scientists were excited since they were learning an erased chapter in humanity's history. One that may explain the arrival of Quirks.

That it wasn't the first time humanity possessed them. Nevertheless, things were still going on in the world, and hearing good news was far and few between.

Still, that wasn't the worst of it. When everyone thought things couldn't get worse. Another piece of news came about I-Island being attacked by another Primordial. The paradise of knowledge and experimentation was now a ruin under the sea. And thousands of the greatest minds of the world and their families dead. A horrible and truly hurtful thing, but it showed that the Primordials weren't attacking randomly. They had a purpose. But what that purpose was, has to yet be found.

Still, for many, the news just helped to exasperate things, especially in Japan, where things were already tense in the whole, Pro-Hero scene. And some who opposed the Hero Agencies began using this incident to advance their agendas.

"An entire country. Gone! And... who is to blame? Pro-Heroes!"

"That's taking it too far!"

"No. We all saw the footage in the last moments. They stated that no Pro-heroes were there to save them. They all disappear. What should we think about that? That if in the future, those World Enders attacked Japan again, the heroes you hold up so up into the sky. They'll be the first ones to leave us to die!"

"I disagree! For all we know, the Pro-Heroes could be the ones who died first. And not only that, you wish to leave us open? To the Primordials' wrath?! NO! In fact, we need heroes in these moments more than ever!"

"More than ever?! We need order and a new wave of Quirk users that understand the world. No heroes! Being a hero is a childhood dream! What we need is soldiers, arms, and everything else!"

"What we need is hope!"

Everyone was watching the debate on television, all paying attention to what was a stake. And in Class 1-A house, they all saw the open forum with long faces and anxious expressions. For an entire hour, they have heard every single word. It didn't help that some of them already knew what it was to be in front of a Primordial. That they knew the sheer power those beings emitted. But all the topics about being a hero hit a sore spot for them.

What they were doing matter? Were their dreams of becoming heroes even that important anymore? For some, it was hard to not think about. And for others, the answer became quite clear.

"Turn that crap off," Bakugo muttered as he was leading on the wall. He was clearly not in the mood. Not after watching that man yelling. "Just a bunch of nonsense."

The rest of his classmates couldn't help but feel anxious about their future and worry about the looming threat ahead. Todoroki was the first one to stand up and turn the TV off. Everyone stared at the half-burned boy whose eyes looked incredibly determined.

"Todoroki?" Uraraka asked as she saw him leave. "What are you doing?"

"We aren't going to achieve anything by acting afraid about what could happen. The only thing we need to do is to become stronger."

Todoroki stated, and his words resonated with everyone there.

"His right," Kirishima added. "So far, we have been focusing on what could happen but aren't paying attention to what we are doing."

"That's right! We are still here, after all! All we can do is give our best!" Hagakure said, waving her invisible arms around.

The class took those words to heart. There was little for them to do. And being depressed wasn't going to help them in the future. Nevertheless, Galadriel, sitting all the way back, smiled at them. It was truly remarkable to see young people trying to achieve the unattainable. It helped to have a goal, to feel that their contributions would change something. She was like them at one point. But her life back then wasn't at all the life she had here. At the very least, hope was out there for all to see. However, Galadriel also felt guilty, knowing that the entire world wouldn't truly stop them. It was a lost game already.

Nevertheless, Galadriel wished these kids would surprise her more. Maybe, it was her "heroes can save the day" idea in her mind. That the power of friendship would change the world for the better. And heroes would bring a new dawn. All pathetic, especially when she was dictating the pace of what a hero was. Still, she wished it to be true.

But it won't. Galadriel sighed. "Stop mopping around," Galadriel's voice brought everyone's attention. "It's just like Todoroki said. We gain nothing from standing here and whining all day. If we truly want results and believe tomorrow isn't as bad as we thought. We can only become stronger."

Everyone glanced at her and suddenly felt a lot better than before. Galadriel was, after all, the one everyone looked up to when things went dark. She was the strongest and most reliable. Then one they knew would be in the vanguard of whatever has yet to come. Their hope. However, they didn't realise that the hope they were all clinging onto was the same one responsible for the chaos going on in the world.

It was better if they didn't know a thing.

"Miss Nazarick is right," Aizawa declared as he entered their common room. "As things stand, the Hero Commission has allowed more younger heroes to attend their Work Study. Even those Pro-Heores known to not take up on requests have now looked for students to guide. They fear we won't be able to raise stronger heroes with our current policies."

"Things truly have changed, eh?" Jiro whispered as Uraraka nodded.

"But, teacher, does that mean every agency is open for us?" Ashido asked.

"Mm, sort of," Aizawa drawled. "So far, the restriction of before being removed. Normally, only those agencies with good track records were allowed to take students. But now... it's all hands on deck."

Galadriel tilted her head as she wondered how far would the hero agencies go with this restriction open. She knew that the schools across Japan were thinking wisely about what to do now. But hard times required extreme measures. Nevertheless, Galadriel would use this opportunity for Nazarick to scout raw talent.

"Miss Nazarick, I was informed that you're to work under your family company... right?" Aizawa muttered as Galadriel coughed awkwardly.

"Uh, yeah..."

"Tch... don't be slacking on this, you hear me. I'll personally check your work."

"Don't you trust me, teacher?" Galadriel replied, trying to smile innocently at him.

"Pfff, rich kids," he muttered as he left the room.

Galadriel huffed a bit offended, but this would allow her some free time to start the next phase of operation. She had quite a lot of work ahead of her.

All Might sighed deeply as he entered the large hospital. He never truly liked such places. The smell, the sound and the sight of sick and injured people. A site that truly makes him shiver. But still, there was an excellent reason for him to be there.

"All Might, is that you?"

All Might then saw a certain Pro-Hero who had been missing in action for quite some time.

"Mirko!" All Might exclaimed happily as the dark-skinned woman looked much better than before. She seemed sweaty like she had been working out quite a lot.

"It's been such a long time!" Mirko exclaimed joyfully.

"I'm glad you're alright. How are you feeling?" All Might asked gently.

"Mm, doing a lot better. I've been working out a lot in these new installations the Nazarick Enterprise has. I'm going to become stronger. You'll see."

Mirko stated, and All Might couldn't help but feel happy for his fellow hero, who seemed to be on his old self again.

"I'm sure you will. Oh, also, what about Ryukyu? I heard she's been treated by the Nazarick medics. Is she alright?"

"Oh, Ryuko? She's like new!" Mirko exclaimed with a happy smile. "She's been training with me. The girl has never been better!"

All Might sighed, pleased to hear that. "Thank goodness! I'm glad you two are safe."

"Thank you, we can't wait to go back to the streets and kick some Villain asses!" Mirko yelled as All Might only chuckled. However, the bunny hero still sighed. "We have been hearing what's going on out there... it's really that bad? They want to shut down the hero agencies?"

"The debates are becoming louder, but nothing is set in stone. So far, it's just a match of screams and politics."

"Mm, I hate politicians..." Mirko muttered darkly.

"Well, this isn't the first time it has happened. But with the Primordials running around, it has become louder."

Mirko's gaze suddenly shifted. It became stone-cold and unfocused. All Might saw it and frowned before Mirko seemed to return to normality.

"Well, I'm glad to see you again, All Might. I have to get back. I promise Ryuko that I'll get her some juice. See you around!"

All Might waved but couldn't help to shake that strange expression on Mirko's face. "Maybe she still has nightmares..." He muttered, knowing that Mirko had to endure torture for hours. And while she claimed they did nothing more but mentally assault her, forcing her to experience and see visions of what Mirko called "Hell on Earth". It was clear there was more in her mind than that. Still, All Might hoped Mirko to return back to her hero life. Maybe it would help her.

All Might then continued to walk and noticed that the Nazarick hospital was quite different from the rest. Certainly more advanced and more private looking than others. And that was saying something. The nurses were all wearing strange masks and looked "odd". He couldn't explain it. Still, he focused on what was ahead of him.

As soon as All Might entered the room, he was hugged by a blond-haired girl, who cried happily to see him.

"Uncle Might!" Melissa exclaimed happily as she hugged the muscle man with all her strenght.

"Melissa!" All Might replied, pretty much thanking God that she was safe. "I'm glad you're safe!"

Melissa felt relieved to finally see All Might after such a long time. And the same went for All Might.

"All Might, you're truly a wonderful sight."

All Might then smile brightly. "David!"

David Shield was on the bed, his leg was fixed a while ago, but he was still just lying in bed, just resting. Yet, his eyes showed exhaustion. David's mind has been filled with images of the burning eye and I-Island splitting in two. It was hard to forget, to get over. David heard Melissa's whimpering when she was sleeping. He wasn't the only one suffering from such nightmares.

However, watching All Might's shining smile truly makes him feel better.

"When I heard what happened... I fear the worst!" All Might stated as he sat next to David's bed.

"We almost died there, no doubt. But we managed to survive... I can't say the same for the rest of the inhabitants of I-Island..."

All Might's silence was the answer. There wasn't anything the Number One hero could do or say to alleviate David's pain. And that wasn't all the bad news. All Might began to cough loudly as David saw the pain on his friend's face.

"Melissa, could you leave us alone for a few minutes?" David asked as Melissa's expression was concerned, but she obeyed her father and slowly left the room. And as soon she did, All Might's form changed to his weak one, to the frail skinny man he now was.

"It's as bad as you told me," David muttered as All Might coughed. "How are you feeling?"

"I've been better, but don't worry, David."

"You don't look that great..."

All Might sighed as he leaned back into his seat. "My time is running out, David. My power is not what it used to be."

David's mortification to hear such sentences grew as it was soon met with the prospect of the future if there was not All Might. Especially with the Primordials' appearance. Who else could face that threat but All Might? David internally cursed that all his work was lost during the destruction of I-Island. Even the Quirk Amplification Device would have been a precious item for him now.

"I know what you are thinking, David... this is not your fault," All Might whispered to his old friend. "This was unavailable."

"Don't speak like that!" David exclaimed. "You know I'd have helped you...! If I had more time, maybe I could have restored your power!"

David's frustration grew, and he slammed the bed with his fist. However, All Might simply chuckled, making David frown.

"This is not funny, Toshinori!"

All Might shook his head. "Sorry, I know it isn't. But, it's nostalgic watching you get frustrated."

All Might's words made David frown a bit. "What do you mean by that?"

All Might sighed deeply. "My friend, there wasn't much you could have done. I can't be strong forever. It is time for the new generations to take place in this world."

All Might's words weren't taken seriously as David couldn't accept such a statement. For him, All Might was the face of Justice in the world. He was supposed to save them from any danger. David couldn't see anyone worthy enough to assume All Might's role.

"So you're going to retire?" David asked slowly.

"Soon... I still have some strenght left... and I've been... making sure to lead the path for the future generations."

"Future generations..."

"You should see them. David, hope is not lost yet. The new heroes coming up are filled with eagerness. Some of them are already the face of something great. Have your head about Miss Nazarick?"

David then glanced at him. "Miss Nazarick...? Yes, I have. She's quite famous. And not only because of her family."

David stated, knowing full well that the facilities he was currently in belonged to them. Still, deep inside him, he wondered where this mysterious family came from? How could they take the Hero agencies by storm in such a short amount of time? How could they be everywhere and nowhere at the same time? Simply put, who are they? David's scientific mind sought answers, but those would have to wait.

"I do not doubt Miss Nazarick will become the next prominent symbol. They already call her the Angel of Hope."

"Angel of hope..."

"Yes, and I know that with her on the wheel, those behind her would reach height even I couldn't touch," All Might stated with pride in his voice. However, David just looked down, wondering what type of future would be if All Might wasn't on it. He just couldn't leave it out to rest. David has seen All Might as the one standing against shadow all his life. So now that All Might was on his way out. It seemed impossible to think about.

No one can be on your level...

"Future, eh?" David muttered, not knowing if he should believe it.

The night came, All Might leave, and Melissa slept in the next room. Yet, David was still lying on the bed, lost in thought.

"Maybe... the future belongs to the new generation," David simply whispered as he stared out the window.

However, a door knocking soon snapped him from his dreams.

"Come in," David called as soon as a beautiful woman entered the room. The beauty could surprise people, and it did for David.

"David Shields? I do hope I am not interrupting your sleep."

"O-no, not at all!" David replied quickly.

"Good! My name is Albedo Nazarick. Please to meet you," Albedo bowed gently, showing a gentle and beautiful face.

David stood up quickly, clearly nervous at the fact he was speaking to the wife of Sebas Nazarick, owner and head of the Nazarick family.

"Please to meet you!" David replied anxiously, wondering why Albedo Nazarick was there to see him.

"W-what can I do for you?" He asked carefully, as Albedo seem to just look around first.

Albedo looked at the photo of David's daughter and smiled. "Such a pretty young lady. You must be proud of her. I have heard she's quite the genius as well."

David tilted his head, wondering why Albedo was speaking about his daughter. But nodded, showing his joy and pride.

"I am, frankly. I couldn't ask for a better child. She's my pride and joy. And I know that she'll surpass me in the future."

David admitted with a smile. Albedo's gaze fixated on the poor's man innocence. So easy to see.

"I came here to see you... for the future. I know, that I-Island was a place of knowledge and experimentation. And it was all lost during the Primordial attack," Albedo whispered, trying to sound mournful. "Truly a tragic loss."

"I am more saddened about the lives we lost..."

Albedo nodded, not truly caring about a few thousand human death. "True. However, the future is in jeopardy. An entire nation was destroyed, and millions of lives were lost. And no one seemed to understand what it meant."

"Understand...?" David asked, confused.

"The Primordials will not stop... until they reach their goal... and we know what that goal is..." Albedo then sighed, looking overwhelmed. "Mister Shield, please know we are doing everything possible to stop the Primordials. But it is not enough. We can't stop them alone."

"Wait... you mean you know what they are looking for?!" David exclaimed, stunned.

"More than just that... but it is not something I can say now. However, we need all the support we can get... and you, David Shield, can make a difference."

"The difference...?"

Albedo stared at him with those yellowish eyes, almost peering into his soul. "David Shield, heroes need something to fight the Primordials. The need to become stronger. And you're the only person who can achieve it. Wouldn't you...? David Shield? Use all your knowledge and mind to protect the future of humanity? No matter the cost?"

David looked at his hands, wondering if he could still do something about All Might's power. David asked himself if he could continue where he left off and investigate Quirks' potential. Could he still have another chance to push the limits of what science could do? It was a tricky question to answer, and the ramifications of it made him anxious. Limits were a good thing. Morality was needed to not break away from what makes a human... human. But what if the future was a stake? What if everything All Might fought for was in peril? What could he do then to help heroes stop it?

"There's still hope, David Shield... if you work for us, you'll have unlimited funds, and no rule will stop you from helping us fight the Primordials for helpings we save tomorrow."

"Save the tomorrow..."

"Yes... for all of us."

Albedo's eyes glared into his, and David could only think about one thing. Could I help save the future? His talk with All Might made him understand something, and it was that if, indeed, the future generation would keep them all. He was going to make sure that they would be the strongest ever. And nothing would stop him now.

"I accept."

David said, not knowing that he had just taken the Devil's forbidden fruit and that future he dreamed of no longer belonged to him.

Galadriel hummed as she walked on the street. She was happily eating a bag of chips while looking around, waiting. "Mm, it's taken a while..." Galadriel's plan was to stay put and take this opportunity to make herself known to the little child, who, with the help of the little fairy she gave her, managed to escape her confinement. Of course, it wasn't as if she would save her on the spot. At least not for now. That came later. This situation was her making "first contact". Practically establishing herself as the one who would save her. But there was a lot Galadriel wanted to know about the Yakuza's drug program first, and she wanted to be careful not to possibly destroy something important.

"Mm, patience is a virtue..." Galadriel muttered as she kept on eating her bag of ships. However, soon, she noticed two boys walking towards her direction. Galadriel saw, Midoriya and Mirio walking on the street with the hero uniforms on.

"Oh, they must be doing their Work Study thing..."

Soon enough, Midoriya noticed her and, surprised but happy, waved at her.

"Galadriel!"

"Hey, Midoriya and Tintin, how are you two doing?"

"Tintin...?" Mirio whispered, a bit confused.

"What are you doing here?" Midoriya asked.

"Mm, just eating ships, taking a small break," Galadriel quickly replied, smiling. "What about you? Why are you both in your hero uniforms?"

"We are currently doing our Work studies," Mirio stated with his usual joyful smile. "Midoriya here is with me in the same Hero Agency."

"Oh, sharing internship? That's nice. Where are you both doing your work?" Galadriel asked, a bit intrigued.

"With Sir Nighteye... Epp!" Midoriya then looked at Mirio, a bit worried. "Sorry, I didn't know..."

"It's okay, Midoriya. It's not like a big secret. Besides, Miss Nazarick, here is a friend of ours."

"Just Galadriel, calling me Miss Nazarick makes me feel like my mom," Galadriel chuckled.

"Mm, well, this is our first day on patrol and surveillance. Not much for us to do, but to simply walk around and have some first-hand experience about how to react when an emergency arises."

"Uhm, that's sound quite useful to learn..." Galadriel replied as she munched on some chips.

"Galadriel, where are you doing your Work Studies?" Midoriya asked, as Galadriel simply shrugged.

"With my family... you know, doing the same as you. But I managed to escape, and now I'm just walking around, eating ships and trying to find the Miki, the Warrior Priestess figure. I've been looking for quite a while now. I can't find it..." Galadriel muttered as she looked around at all the stores she had visited. I am going to find you!

"And that's pretty much all... it's hard being a hero, y'know?" Galadriel stated, with her mouth full of chips.

Midoriya and Mirio just looked at each other nervously.

"That doesn't sound like Work Study at all," Mirio muttered nervously.

"Y-yeah..." Midoriya added, chuckling anxiously.

"Hey! What does that suppose to mean? I take my hero work seriously," Galadriel replied, slightly offended. "I'm just taking a break!"

Soon enough, Galadriel noticed a small presence going out of her way, so with that smile, she moved to the side of the dark alley entrance. While she continues to talk with Mirio and Midoriya.

"In anycase, who is this Sir Nighteye?"

"He used to be All Might's sidekick!" Midoriya replied excitedly.

"So, he's like super strong, right?"

"Easily, Sir Nighteye was All Might's sidekick for the longest. His Quirk, of Foresight, truly makes him a dangerous opponent," Mirio explained as Galadriel tilted her head, wondering how strong that particular Quirk could be.

Foresight? Mm, interesting.

Soon enough, Galadriel saw her cue. "Well, in anycase, I-"

Shortly, a tiny little girl crashed into her. "Eii!" The little girl squealed as she felt like hitting a wall. But soon, she looked up and saw a beautiful girl with golden eyes and white hair. And when she did, she gasped.

"The golden eyes...!" The girl whispered softly. "Fey...!"

Galadriel saw the tiny fairy hiding in the girl's hair, using an invisible spell to remain hidden. But of course, Galadriel could see her clear as day.

"Hey, there, are you hurt?" Galadriel said as she knelt to the girl, who practically latched herself into her.

"You're real...!" The girl whispered, and now Galadriel wondered what kind of stuff the fairy told her.

"Am I real?" Galadriel played along, trying to sound confused, as she glanced at Mirio and Midoriya. "I guess I am!" Galadriel replied, smiling and patting the little girl's head.

"Galadriel, those bandages," Midoriya said as they noticed the nasty marks and wounds inflicted on the small girl. Galadriel knew that they were using her for experimentation, but to watch it closely, as the tiny girl was practically hugging her for dear life, was different.

This is... unsettling.

"We mustn't be causing problems for the heroes, Eri... now, let's go back home."

Eri's body became rigid as she held Galadriel's shirt.

"I'm sorry for my daughter causing your problems. She tends to get overexcited when we are out."

Galadriel saw the man talking and knew who he was. The mask, the gloves. It was Kai Chisaki, known as Overhaul, the leader of the Shie Hassaikai. However, she didn't expect the expression of Midoriya and Mirio. They already knew who he was, and that made Galadriel frown.

"Ah, don't worry about it. Accidents then happen around kids, isn't it right, Galadriel?" Mirio replied with a bright laugh, but the moment Galadriel saw his eyes knew, the reason behind it.

I see... Galadriel hummed as she then chuckled softly. "Of course! Children than to be a bundle of energy."

Galadriel stood up as Eri kept on hugging her.

Overhaul simply nodded, showing nothing but coolness and patience. Yet, his eyes were already measuring up Galadriel and the other two. Overhaul already knew who the girl was. Everyone knew who she was, so he was now more cautious about everything.

"That's true. Sometimes, it's too much," Overhaul chuckled, then looked at Midoriya's, whose expression truly spoke for itself. The panicked look and the way he glared at Overhaul made Galadriel sigh deeply. You're terrible at hiding your emotions, Midoriya. Honestly, the worst poker player ever. Galadriel growled internally.

Galadriel glanced at Mirio quickly, who practically went over and put Midoriya's hood back on.

"Your hood and mask came off again," Mirio sighed, but wholeheartedly.

"Maybe the zipper is off?" Galadriel replied, following Mirio's cue. But both Mirio's and Galadriel's eyes spoke to Midoriya, who finally understood, what he did terribly wrong.

"I-un, yeah, you're right."

"We're sorry, too, for bumping into her," Mirio stated. "We should get going. Yeah?"

Midoriya simply couldn't let it go as he stared at Eri, who was trembling. However, before he could even say anything, Galadriel glared at him quickly. It was a type of stare that froze Midoriya in place. Soon enough, it was gone, and Galadriel simply looked at Overhaul with a big happy smile.

"Alright, little girl, you do be careful out there, yeah?!" Galadriel said with a happy smile. Eri gasped, wanting to speak, but Overhaul glared at her.

"Thank you so much. Sorry again for disturbing you."

Eri's body trembled, but Galadriel quickly whispered into her ear. "I'll save you... I promise."

Galadriel waved her goodbyes as both Overhaul and Eri left. But the tiny little girl just looked at her as she was taken away by the Yakuza's leader.

First, contact... success. Galadriel thought, but she did believe it was a good start. She couldn't stop feeling bad. Eri's eyes, the way she was looking at her for help. It all made her feel aggravated. Yet, not that she saw the girl, Galadriel knew one thing.

I will make her happy.
