Chapter 43
The meeting to discuss how to deal with the criminal organisation Shie Hassaikai had been prolonged for a considerable amount of time. Some individuals found the information to be disconcerting, while others found it to be upsetting. Particularly when it came down to how those peculiar bullets were built off and how they could disable a person's quirks. The details of what they used to create them were gruesome, if not cruel. A genuinely horrible act that brings forth a new threat to Pro-Heroes around Japan and the world.
But also a window to victims of this crime.
"How can to create something like this?" One of the heroes in the reunion asked. "It seems like quite... farfetched."
"It was thanks to young Kirishima here that we were able to collect one of the bullets that bounced off of his skin, thanks to his Quirk," Fat Gum spoke, pointing out at the young student who was having such a tough time following with the whole situation. Kirishima looked confused at how they were thanking him and his quick reactions.
"I-I didn't do anything," Kirishima muttered, flabbergasted as the rest of his companions praised him.
"Then, about the results," Fat Gum turned around, glancing at Galadriel and the rest of her family. "We were told that the Nazarick laboratories would do the rest."
Sir Nighteye then glanced at the Nazarick envoy, especially that strange blond woman with a fake smile. There was something odd in that woman. Bizarre, dangerous, a sort of feeling that made him shiver. But what could it be?
"We received the results not too long ago, Hero Fat Gum," Sir Nighteye stated, still glancing at the suffocating smile of a woman called Epsilon. "I must thank the Nazarick's laboratories for their fast response."
"No problem at all," Epsilon replied with a soft smile. "This is an important mission, and we were quite worried about this sudden weapon that could potentially harm people with Quirks."
"Indeed, the results that were brought were... disturbing," Sir Nighteye muttered.
Galadriel remembered being taken aback by Nazarick taking the bullet before some other agency did, which she attributed to Albedo's skilful contribution and fast thinking. Galadriel just found out the extent of Shie Hassaikai's plans recently. And as she delved deeper into the matter, she realised that she couldn't possibly keep track of everything that was happening within her organisation. There were many undertakings occurring behind the scenes, and this particular outcome was just one of them. Despite her surprise, Galadriel resolved to stay vigilant and remain aware of all developments within her guild.
I trust Albedo and Demiurge to keep me updated with everything. But I must do my part too and not let them do everything.
Galadriel hummed before snapping out of her mind and focusing on the task before her.
"Sir Nighteye, what were the findings?" One of the heroes asked.
"After analysing the contents of the bullet. We discovered that it was primordially made of human blood and cells."
"Human... blood?" Midoriya whispered, stunned, and wasn't the only one.
"Blood? Real blood?" Uraraka muttered.
"It feels like a horror history... from another world," Tsuyu stuttered, feeling a cold sensation running through her body. But it didn't compare to what both Midoriya and Mirio were feeling.
"In other words, the effects of the bullet and how it can erase Quirks came from someone's own Quirk?" Ryukyu stated, watching Sir Nighteye's expression and knowing it was true.
"A Quirk that destroys Quirks," another hero muttered solemnly.
"How is this drug bullet thing linked to Shie Hassaikai?" Another one asked.
"I can explain that," Sir Nighteye said as pictures appeared on the projection. "During the few months, we have monitored the complex distribution channel across different cities. We also have seen more infighting among many of the small criminal groups for deploying certain drugs that allows them to push their Quirk a bit more. Ryukyu, you broke up a fight between them a few days ago."
Ryukyu nodded, remembering that strange incident. "I do remember, yes."
Sir Nighteye nodded as another picture appeared. "This drug seems to be a sort of test. However, it has proven to be unstable. It's been selling quite well. Enough for groups to fight for new zones."
Galadriel watched the pictures and hummed deeply. A drug that could push a user's Quirk even more? Interesting. Galadriel wondered why hasn't Shie Hassaikai focused more on that instead of trying to eradicate Quirks. She believed that it had to do with the current leader of that Yakuza group; for some reason, that young man truly hated Quirks and Heroes. In her humble opinion, it didn't matter at the end of the day, but it was a complete waste of resources. If she were him, Galadriel would focus on the other drug and use it to gain more power. But that was her.
"That's true; there has been an increase in gang-related crimes recently," one of the horses muttered, earning a few nods from the rest. "The police are doing the best they can... but some of these fights are quite gruesome."
"These drugs are causing more problems, especially since it gives criminals a new edge against normal heroes. Even if it ends up harming them from the insides, and now adding this new projectile capable of incapacitating heroes for life. We are facing a true horror history," Sir Nighteye stated before showing a picture of the current head of the Yakuza group. And the photo made Mirio and Midoriya realise how close they were to the one responsible for causing everything.
"This is the young head of the Shie Hassaikai's group. Kai Chisaki is a dangerous and sharp person. His Quirk, Overhaul, allows him to disassemble and restore things. Simply put, his Quirk lets him break things and fix them as his will. Like a bullet that can break down Quirks."
Sir Nighteyes' words were left unchallenged as it began to dawn on everyone what it meant. "Chisaki has a daughter named Eri. There are no records or details about her birth. We don't even know if she is honestly his daughter. But when Miss Nazarick, Mirio and Midoriya encountered her. They discovered that she had a large number of bandages wrapped around her arms and legs."
Ryukyu bit her lips before sighing deeply. "Don't tell me... that he is using his Quirk for something so horrific."
"In a society of Quirks, if you can dream it, you can do it," Gran Torino, who had been utterly silent, finally spoke—sensing a feeling of horror.
"What...? I don't understand what you are saying?" Kirishima whispered before Galadriel turned to him.
"What Sir Nighteye is telling you, Kirishima, is that this individual is using his Quirk to dismantle this girl's body, cell by cell, in order to manufacture these bullets," Galadriel spoke with an eerie cold tone of voice. She knew it already. The details of it came to her a while ago. And while, at the time, those gruesome details made her scoff in disgust, she truly never paid attention to it. But now, when she saw the little girl clutching at her arms. Galadriel found it hard to dismiss.
Using a child like this...
"No way..." Kirishima, with Uraraka and Tsuyu, whispered in shock and afraid.
"We need to find out if they are trying to sell these bullets in the future or just giving them to specific individuals to test their efficiency. Nevertheless, he is gathering people and funds nationwide to continue his experiments. And that's something we can't allow to go on."
Those words seem enough for some, especially two young students who sensed that such cruelty couldn't go without being answered. They were heroes, after all. It was their duty to help those who needed it, right?
"We will save her!" Both Mirio and Midoriya exclaimed. "We are going to save Eri, no matter what!"
"That's it! We should get going instead of just wasting more time!" Fat Gum exclaimed, too, adding more fuel to the fire. "We are wasting time while Eri is being tortured!"
Sir Nighteye only stared at them. "Yes, but our goal is to save her and stop Chisaki's plan. We need a proper plan and not rush at the enemy."
"Aren't you being way too careful about this, Nighteye?" One of the heroes named Rock Lock stated as everyone watched Sir Nighteyes' reaction. "With your Quirk, we can afford to look at the future and make the preparations possible for the task."
"It's not that simple," Sir Nighteye replied somberly. "I can only look at one person's future for an hour and see it from a third view person. It's like watching a movie of sorts in the back of my head. It can be a year or a week in that person's life. It depends. And I'll have to wait another 24 hours to use it. However, the amount of information is not enough to truly craft a plan involving so many individuals. That's why I would like to use it only when I am 100% certain of the outcome of our operation."
Many heroes were quite confused about what he explained, but no Galadriel stared at the man before her, taking her time to munch over his words. So, he can only see for an hour, and he sees it like watching a movie? Mm, I get it. However, watching an entire year of a person's life? Is it truly accurate? Galadriel wondered as he watched the reaction of everyone.
"See! It's not a problem then!" Rock Lock replied.
Sir Nighteyes's face became sombre. "What if I see someone's death?" He soon asked as the reality of his Quirk came down.
"Even if! It should be enough information to stop it! And if you see my dead, I'll avoid it!"
Galadriel heard the hero speak, but the deep inside could see the delicate line of that Quirk. It was a great Quirk, but also with a significant weakness. If they depend on the foresight outcome, that in itself could cause that future to change. If Nighteye sees the death of someone and tries to change it, that could lead to someone else dying. It was a paradox. It was a very unsafe situation, and the ability to see the future could be as hazardous as it was helpful.
"I can't," Sir Nighteye stated, and the way he spoke made Galadriel realise that Nighteye knew from experience what it was to try to change someone else fate.
"We should not focus on what could be, but what it is," Galadriel spoke, bringing the attention of everyone. "I believe Sir Nighteye is right about one thing. We should only use his Quirk when it becomes clear the outcome of our actions."
Sir Nighteye looked at Galadriel with a thankful smile. However, he couldn't stop feeling like something was odd with the Nazarick family. It was as if they weren't indeed humans. And perhaps they weren't. Who was he to say? Yet, should he be thankful that they were on his side? Nighteye didn't know. But so far, the girl with white hair and golden eyes has proven to be a symbol to all heroes. They were still needed, and some still held All Might's principles. Maybe this younger generation is more of what I thought it was. Perhaps, I was wrong about him as well. Sir Nighteye thought before standing up.
"It's just as Miss Nazarick says. We will make sure to stop Chisaki and save Eri too."
The words spoken brought comfort to everyone there, especially those who were working tirelessly to save Eri. The secret to triumph was staying calm and being patient, waiting for the perfect chance to make a move. Yet, for young students, the waiting game was something they were new at. And the guilt of just standing still, doing nothing, was quite painful. But they'll learn. They had to.
Back at the U.A. High School, those students who partook in the reunion were simply sitting at a table, looking sombre and truly desperate to do anything. The idea that someone like Chisaki could be using his Quirk on Eri at that moment made them feel hopeless and angry.
"If only I had taken her back then, even if I had to do it by force," Midoriya whispered, clutching his fist. "Right now, Eri would be..."
"It's so frustrating," Kirishima hissed, sharing the same feeling as Midoriya.
The tense situation and the sentiment of both Midoriya and Mirio could be felt by everyone sitting there. However, among them, there was someone who was peacefully munching some chips without much care. The sound coming from Galadriel's mouth, as she ate her anger away, seemed to take them by surprise, since from outside appearance. Galadriel looked no troubled at all.
"How can you eat in a moment like this?" Uraraka muttered.
"Simply, wanting to do something only because you feel it is right is not equal to doing the right thing," Galadriel replied. She was talking about her experience there. She was a Demonic entity, filled with greed, selfishness and anger. Galadriel knew exactly that her words may sound hypocritical to some who knew her real identity. Yet, it didn't change that they held some weight.
Everyone stared at her. No one really knew what to think when she said those things. In fact, if someone else were to say it, they would probably have gotten angry at it. Yet, it was Galadriel who said it.
"What does 'doing the right thing' mean?" Midoriya asked slowly as he stared up at Galadriel. "Is that your definition or mine?"
Galadriel stared at the green-haired boy and almost smiled at those challenging words. She wanted that from Midoriya. Galadriel wanted the green-haired boy to challenge what he was taught justice was and what it meant to be a hero. Galadriel wanted to slowly guide him to a spot she could control and shape. And from the looks of it. She was succeeding.
"You wanted to save her, and so am I," Galadriel replied, carefully crafting her words. "However, if you had actually done it. We would have been pushing back, and maybe one of us would have killed. We don't know how strong Chisaki truly is and his Quirk. One touch, and you're dead."
Midoriya looked at Galadriel, and those golden eyes made him feel small. He knew Galadriel was speaking the truth. He was being sentimental, and the frustration of not being able to act was eating him alive.
"It would have put Eri in danger," Galadriel then chose two words to get Midoriya to react to them.
"I... you're right. I need to think before I act. I can't rush things ever again," Midoriya finally replied, his facial expression softening.
"Exactly," Galadriel said, before throwing a pack of chips to Midoriya's face, who squealed as it hit his face. "Midoriya, you have such a kind heart, and that is such a wonderful quality. However, to truly become the hero you aspire to be, it is important to consider the impact of your actions and the decisions you make. Not only for your friends beside you but for the people you wish to save."
"Galadriel..."
Galadriel smiled softly at him, choosing to put some of her inspirational words into practice. She has read a lot of motivation lately, all for the sake of being the Angel of Hope people wanted her to be.
"It's important to acknowledge that feeling angry and frustrated is valid. In fact, it's what drives us to become heroes. Empathy for those who suffer is a crucial trait, and those who lack it are only filled with hate. Keep pushing forward with your honest emotions. But keep them from guiding you blindly, or you will lose yourself. Instead, use them as a beacon, and you shall never be lost."
As Midoriya shifted his gaze towards Galadriel, a sense of familiarity washed over him. It was as though he had been taught the very same lesson before. But then, it dawned upon him. Galadriel had placed her trust in him and believed that he was capable of achieving much more than he had ever imagined. Such faith in his abilities filled him with an indescribable sense of gratitude and determination to live up to her expectations. But why does he feel like that with her instead of All Might, who he considers his idol?
It wasn't as if the Number One hero's words didn't stick to him, nor that he was ungrateful to All Might for trusting in him with the legacy of One For All. Yet, there was so much that All Might hadn't told him. So much he keeps hidden from him. Midoriya didn't even know about Nighteye's opinion until he confronted All Might about it. But it feels like Galadriel wants to guide and tell him about his best attributes. And, more importantly, to make it clear that his feelings about it all mattered.
"Mirio," Galadriel called as the third-year student glanced at her. "We have the power to save her. That's not in question. But let's carefully consider our actions and make the best choices to achieve our goals. Not only for us but for her."
Mirio stared at Galadriel, and soon enough, the so-called number one student of the third year slapped his cheeks. A loud sound that made everyone wince. "You're right!" Mirio replied, finally returning to his cheerful self.
"We are going to save her from him," Mirio stated, now more determined.
Midoriya nodded as Galadriel smiled, as she knew Aizawa was hearing everything from around the corner.
Aizawa was, of course, unaware of Galadriel's abilities. Yet he stood on the corner and listened to Galadriel's words, humming deeply.
"Miss Nazarick, you're truly a different type of hero."
Aizawa stated knowing that she could control Midoriya's recklessness and bring a sense of positivity to the group that truly needed it.
"Whoah, Galadriel, that was so corny," Asui whispered as Galadriel nervously chuckled.
"You should write a poem book!" Uraraka exclaimed happily. "Call it Galadriel's words of self-improvement!"
"Or how "You need a hero in me"!" Kirishima laughed, and soon enough, the entire table began to laugh at Galadriel's expanse.
"Stop it!" Galadriel exclaimed, embarrassed. "I was trying to inspire you all!"
"Cringe, Galadriel, cringe," they all replied.
"How do I reach these kids?!"
Aizawa chuckled as he began to walk away."Yes, she is what we need."
The following days were a sort of preparation for the upcoming mission. It was a secret operation, so the rest of the 1-A class who weren't part of it didn't know about it. Yet, they could see how differently the other teachers were training them. However, what looked different on them, was how they took those training themselves.
Their faces were filled with determination.
"Midoriya, you're slacking. Put more pressure on your grip," Aizawa called as the green-haired boy climbed to the top of a manufactured cliff inside the U.A. training camp. Kirishima, Uraraka and Asui were doing the same, all breathing heavily but keeping up.
Galadriel had already ascended to the top of the cliff, quenching her thirst with water and attempting to mimic the exhaustion of her companions. However, her constitution did not allow for physical weariness like that of the average human. As an immortal being, Galadriel only experienced mental fatigue. Still, she endeavoured to blend in with the rest of the students and even poured some water over her to emulate sweat. Witnessing the training regimen of the U.A. was a valuable opportunity for Galadriel to gain insight into the methods and practices employed in preparing young heroes for their future endeavours.
Mm, Quirks can sometimes be challenging to train, especially those Quirks that are pretty particular. How could Nazarick train Quirk users in the future? We must find a way that it could offer better results. Galadriel thought deeply before looking down and helping Asui up.
"Good job, Froggy," Galadriel smiled as Asui sighed deeply.
"Thank you," Asui replied while gasping for air. "How can you be so fast?"
"Mm, I just have good stamina," Galadriel replied with a shrug.
"But now... how can you climb so fast with those massive breasts?" Asui said, pointing with her finger.
"Ah..."
"Like, you bounce on them?"
"Maybe... maybe I do."
During the rest of the training, Galadriel made an effort to appear more human by exaggerating her actions. She even pretended to make mistakes to make her act more convincing. Galadriel always gives her best in everything she does; her acting was no exception. Finally, as the training ended, Galadriel slowed down and let out a sigh of relief, just like everyone else.
Galadriel turned around and smiled as she saw the rest of the class doing the same.
"Good job, everyone," Galadriel smiled at them.
"Whoa, I think it is the first time I see you sweating as well, Galadriel," Jiro stated while taking big sips of water.
"Indeed, you always seem fine with all our physical activities," Momo added as Ashido nodded fervently.
"We thought you were not human!"
Galadriel only laughed nervously. "Um, yeah..."
"Oi!" Bakugo exclaimed as he pointed the finger at Galadriel and the rest of the group who would participate in the upcoming mission. "All of you are behaving weirdly! Something happened, right? Something on your stupid courses!"
The group in question stared at Bakugo, whose face was always funny. Still, they needed help to speak about something that involved the mission itself. It was forbidden to let anyone else know.
"We can't tell you, Bakugo," Uraraka spoke somewhat nervously.
"We can't get into a problem with Professor Aizawa, Kacchan," Midoriya added, looking away, not staring at Bakugo's fury gaze.
"That's bullshit! What is going on?! Eh?" Bakugo yelled again.
"If only you hadn't failed the hero exam," Galadriel sighed dramatically, smirking at Bakugo's angry face. "Maybe we would've told you about this... Super incredible secret mission!"
Bakugo only growled loudly, like a sea lion of sorts, as he began to walk away, incredibly furious to be left behind yet again. Dragging his feet, he swore not to fail again. Galadriel chuckled, loving to see Bakugos' angry face. "Hey, Bakugo!" Galadriel called as Bakugo's head peered slowly at her.
"What you want, you stupid albino?!" He hissed before Galadriel walked towards him and smiled.
"Wanna spar with me?" Galadriel asked innocently. "Can we do that, Aizawa? Just for a bit?"
Aizawa just hummed before shrugging. "Just don't hurt him," he said, making Bakugo hiss.
"Eh?! What do you mean?!"
"Alright, let's go, bomb kid. You have a lot of energy still, yes?"
Upon Galadriel's request, Bakugo found himself unable to refuse her offer of a spar with the white-haired girl. Despite his initial annoyance, he recognised the potential for valuable training and even the chance to land a few satisfying hits on his opponent. However, Bakugo couldn't deny that Galadriel's power far surpassed his own, making the challenge all the more alluring to him.
"Always!"
Galadriel smiled, and soon enough, they all saw, Bakugo and Galadriel walking away. Still, looking at both of them, Midoriya and Todoroki could only help but feel something kind of jealousy as they saw Galadriel using her hip to push Bakugo. In contrast, the bomb kind only screamed at her, but it could be seen as playfully.
Honestly, Galadriel had no idea of what she was causing, or perhaps she did, and she was just enjoying the drama that could ensue. Truly a demon empress she was.
Several hours later, on the training grounds, the echoing sounds of explosions could still be heard, accompanied by the occasional groans of pain. Bakugo's combat skills were nothing short of impressive - his movements were fast and explosive, and not just in the literal sense of the word. He relied heavily on his exceptional speed to close in on his opponents before unleashing a flurry of lightning-fast attacks with his Quirk. Once he had dealt his blows, he would swiftly retreat, ready to launch another assault immediately.
However, this approach also proved to be a significant vulnerability for Bakugo. His fighting style could be likened to a Blitzkrieg tactic, characterised by its speed, lethality, and decisiveness. Nevertheless, when pitted against an adversary who could withstand his initial onslaught, Bakugo found himself drained and unable to utilise his powers effectively. The lack of sweat-inducing opportunities left him at a disadvantage, struggling to regain his momentum and ultimately compromising his chances of victory.
"You used everything in the first attacks," Galadriel scolded as she quickly grabbed Bakugos' hand and twisted before kicking him in the stomach, pushing him away. "It would be wise to avoid going all in during the first attack. It's important to conserve energy for future actions."
Bakugo groaned loudly while on the floor before standing up. His eyes held quite the anger but at the same time. Bakugo knew that Galadriel was right.
"Shit!" Bakugo groaned before he used all the sweat he had left on one final move. Or so he wished since Galadriel appeared quickly before him, holding both of his hands and pushing him to the ground.
"[Immobilize]", Galadriel whispered. Immediately, Bakugo's body became frozen while she sat on top of him, smiling down. Bakugo's inability to move was extremely frustrating, especially given Galadriel's current position.
"Phew! Bakugo, you truly have a lot of energy," Galadriel chuckled down while Bakugo's eyes were almost spitting fire. "Mm, this is a valuable lesson to keep in mind: never let yourself become exhausted in front of your enemy."
Galadriel recalled those hard lessons back on Yggdrasil. The first time she went into a PvP arena. She got absolutely destroyed when she ran out of MP. Galadriel had the same fighting style as Bakugo. She went all in and wasted so many resources trying to eliminate her enemy as quickly as possible. Again, it may work on a newby, on someone who has yet to learn how the system work. But against an experienced player. She always lost. So, Galadriel had to learn how to act, when to use her skills, to prepare beforehand, and to always have a backup plan and resources available for her to win any scenario. And she learned from people like Touch-Me, Punitto Moe, Bellriver, and Nishikienrai, who were, in Galadriel's humble opinion, the best PvP players in all Ainz Ooal Gown.
And while it was confirmed that this world was different from Yggdrasil. The principles were the same. To perfect your strenght and to decrease your weakness. To learn to play with the enemy's head and use whatever advantage one could in a battle.
"Bakugo, you're a powerful fighter, and I am sure you could take on a petite criminal without much problem. Yet, if you were to face someone, you couldn't beat them in the first five minutes. Then... you'll lose three times out of five."
Galadriel stated, and now Bakugo wasn't glaring at her in rage but deep in thought. "Think of this, what about focusing more on saving energy by luring the enemy's first attack on you? Be defensive first; once the enemy shows you what he can do, you attack. Should we try it?"
Bakugo wanted to reply, but he was paralysed. Still, Galadriel could sense he was deeply thinking about how he could pull something like that off. However, Bakugo's face became red, and Galadriel frowned, wondering what could earn such a reaction before realising her position and how she was still holding both Bakugos' hands.
"Ah," Galadriel chuckled before standing up and freeing Bakugo from her spell.
"You're heavy," Bakugo muttered, as Galadriel fake hurt.
"I am not!"
"Those damn cheesecakes you eat are stuffed in your tits or what?"
Galadriel replied by smacking his head. "Now, that's rude."
Bakugo hissed but didn't say anything more. He sighed, taking his time to think. Galadriel just sat beside him and pondered what was the bomb kid thinking.
"What are you thinking?" Galadriel asked with curiosity. Bakugo's eyes only darted to her before looking away. It was strange to see Bakugo with that sort of serious face.
"Nothing, just how could I beat your ass next time," Bakugo only replied, but something in his voice made Galadriel curious.
"I bet," Galadriel replied with a humorous tone.
Both stayed there on the ground, just looking at nothing. Bakugo then stared at Galadriel one more time before sighing deeply. He stood up, and Galadriel followed suit, yet she was just wondering about the kid's strange behaviour.
Kids of this age are so weird. Was I like that? Galadriel wondered, remembering how awkward she was at that age.
"Bakugo, is everything alright?" Galadriel asked, now a bit annoyed about the sudden silence. I can't deal with these kids. What's with him?
"Hey... Galadriel," Bakugo muttered, using Galadriel's name. He was still refusing to look at her.
"Eh, yes?" Galadriel called again, more annoyed.
"Would you like to go-"
Before Bakugo could finish his sentence, Galadriel's cell phone rang. Stopping Bakugo immediately.
"Hello?" Galadriel answered without paying attention to Bakugo's trembling body. "Ah... I see. I'll be right there."
Galadriel replied, knowing that she was notified about the mission being green-lighted. Finally, it is time to meet Eri and be a hero. I should speak with Albedo, too and get our plans ready. What was Bakugo going to say? Well, who cares.
"Bakugo, sorry. I was called. I must go now!" Galadriel stated before leaving Bakugo behind. "Let's talk later, yes?!"
Bakugo was standing there and didn't move for a few seconds. But soon enough, his body and his face contorted into one of pure anger. "Goddamnit!"
Bakugo was truly a lucky kid since he didn't know what could've happened if he had finished his sentence. Truly lucky.
