"Say, why is Delta with us? She's not very high leveled…" Bellriver asked while they were walking towards the capital of the Baharuth district, Arwintar.
Nubo had already given it a glance and told them that the strongest human there was someone in their level 30s. And the angels guarding the city were only up to the 6th tier. But just to be safe, they made a gate a few miles away from the city so that they couldn't be spotted by any teleportation detection measures.
And apparently, that "few miles away" ended up in a forest that, luckily, had a nice dirt road leading to where they needed to go.
Garnet hugged CZ Delta from behind, "Hey! Don't discount my emotional support robot!"
All Delta said in response to the hug was, "Uwah…"
Bellriver shrugged, "I'm just saying dude."
Garnet just flipped Bellriver off and they made it up.
"Well, to be fair, everyone else got a floor guardian and all we got was 3 relatively low leveled NPCs," Wasewaru pointed out, "No offense to you three."
Lucilla tilted her head, "Of course it's fine, Lord Wasewaru, but may I ask for some insight on why I'm here?"
Liberta in the evening of his life looked a bit interested, so Wasewaru picked up a brilliant strategy from one of his guild members, "Hey, Liberta, do you know why Lucilla is here?"
Liberta looked a bit shocked at being chosen, but he quickly rebounded with a calm nod, "Of course, Lord Wasewaru. Lucilla is here because of her ability to strengthen our team. And if we ever need a sacrificial lamb, Lucilla is equipped with her red scythe, Maiden of Dusk, which allows her to cheat death for long enough to either escape and warn the Supreme Beings, or to nip any remaining issues in the bud."
Wasewaru had absolutely no idea that Lucilla's gear level 70 scythe could allow her to cheat death. Or even Lucilla's build in general. But hey, at least now he knew.
"Yeah, good explanation, Liberta," Tigris praised, Liberta eagerly accepting the praise.
As they walked a bit further, the entire group felt a bit of an odd disturbance in the air.
Wish III scratched his chin, looking at the road, "Hey, guys, does anyone feel like we're about to encounter an annoyance?"
Daijobubua frowned, "Don't speak it into existence, dude."
As they kept walking further and further along the road, the "odd disturbance" started to creep into existence as Nubo suddenly messaged, "Yo, dudes. You're about to walk into an ambush, do you know that?"
Every player in the group suddenly groaned, as Pannokishi spoke their groans into words, "Dude, did you really have to tell us that? We're trying to have a nice day."
"You guys are there to get information," Nubo unhelpfully reminded, "Getting into fights is, you know, counterproductive."
"Are they strong?" Tigris asked.
"Nope, they're all pretty weak," Nubo said, "In fact, even the NPCs could walk right through them."
Nubos choice of words elicited a thought inside of Garnet's head, "Hey, guys, I have a pretty good idea…"
An overly eager bandit quickly ran to their boss and loudly whispered, "Hunter! Someone's finally going to walk into our trap!"
Hunter took a moment to process the information, then a massive smirk grew on his face.
Finally! They've been sitting in this god forsaken forest for weeks on end just waiting for someone to walk past them!
Everyone knows that any criminal would get immediately caught by angels, but those angels only protected the big targets, and obviously small bands of adventurers wouldn't have an angel.
Hunter could hear those oblivious idiots just walking the road, unaware of their incoming demise!
Hunter quietly signaled his fellow bandits into position, as the band of human adventurers wearing high quality stuff walked closer and closer to them.
Hah! The moment they get close, the entire group will ambush them and kill them instantly! Can't defend against a stab to the neck, can they?
As the group walk passed them, Hunter yelled out, "GO!"
A horde of 18 bandits attacked the group of 11, daggers and shortswords bared against their flesh.
Hunter's dagger clinked off of the girl wearing a dress.
None of his fellow bandits were luckier either, as their attacks weren't doing anything to them.
"What's going on?!" Hunter yelled out, trying to understand what kind of magic the adventurers were using to defend against their attack.
The elderly man suddenly hummed, "Hmm, Sentai, can you feel the winds being a bit odd today?"
The now named Sentai shook her head, "No."
Hunter's eyes were blinded by rage by the casual conversation, "You really think you can just walk past us like this?!"
Hunter quickly ran past the group to stand in front of them, "You'll have to go through me!"
Hunter raised his hand, calling forth his ancestry.
For years, his family has been a famous group of mages, but ever since the academia became what it is now, Hunter decided to turn to crime to avenge his fallen heritage.
Hunter wasn't the most skilled out of his family, but even so, his magic power was stronger than most mages in the kingdom.
A blue magic sigil appeared in front of Hunter as he yelled out his signature 1st tier spell, "[Water Bolt]!"
The bolt of water flew towards the group, hitting the man wearing ornate red armor before fizzling away having done nothing.
Hunter's eyes widened in shock, "No damage?!"
Which is when the group finally caught up to Hunter, casually pushing him back as they walked as if he didn't exist.
Hunter was pushed to the floor, and the other girl decided to be especially cruel as she completely and utterly crushed one of his legs with her foot.
One of the adventurer's wearing an elaborate rogue's gear turned to the malevolent girl, "Lily, did you step on a tree branch?"
Lucilla looked back at Hunter, then he looked back at the rogue, "I think so. Sorry."
"Nah, it's fine," The rogue said before continuing to walk forward.
And so, the entire group of bandits was entirely defeated without even a single spell or swing of their weapon.
"Boss…" One of his fellow bandits quietly said, dropping his weapon.
Hunter nodded from his place on the ground, "Yeah, I quit too."
And so, the entire group of bandits decided that the life of crime was no longer for them.
Hunter would return to his family, and his family eagerly took him in with open arms. Hunter eventually became a mage of the 4th tier and lives with a wife and 3 kids in the Argland Council State.
Bandit #7 would return to the family farm and eventually end up in Arwintar as an expert "Fight Avoider." to teach other people not to pick fights. His teachings became known across the land as he published his book, "The time a bunch of guys just walked through us without noticing us."
Bandit #13 would return to a life of crime, and be instantly killed by one of the angel guards who saw him stab a young girl for making fun of his overly large mustache. Said girl was completely unharmed, because that same angel guard had healing spells. The mother received money for the inconvenience.
Everyone else quietly went back to what they were previously doing, which was absolutely nothing at all.
"It wasn't that funny," Bellriver eventually decided after the bandits gave up and were a fair distance away from them.
Daijobubua nodded in agreement, "Yeah, it sounded better on paper."
"I think it would've been better if I maybe sung a song or something," Wasewaru suggested, "You know, give it a sense of carefreeness."
"You guys really are messed up, you know that?" Nubo chimed in.
"You totally enjoyed it, Nubo," Pannokishi said.
"I totally enjoyed that, yeah."
Everyone decided that Punitto, the guy who decided to configure where all of the gates were going to end up, was an absolute bastard because it took almost 3 whole hours of extra walking to finally end up where they wanted to go.
Sure, Tigris admits that if they had just ran, it would've been faster. And maybe taking a few rests wasn't needed. But three whole hours of travel just to avoid anti-gate spells? That was just unnecessary!
And somehow, Orphea's group got into trouble, but apparently they were fine now, so who cares?
Eventually, they finally saw the city walls, and they were fairly happy with what they were looking at.
It seemed to be a decently built city, and their style of architecture was very pretty in Tigris' opinion. The obvious landmarks of the city looked to be a palace, some sort of massive multi-floor building, and an obvious church.
Which is when Punitto suddenly messaged everyone that if they were in a city, they could freely roam around the city as long as they stayed in pairs and didn't do anything stupid.
"Man, does he actually think we're that dumb?" Pannokisi asked, mildly bitter, "We're better than that."
Wasewaru shook his head, "No, he's probably just covering his ground just in case we do something dumb, so he can't be responsible for it."
"Ah, you're probably right," Pannokishi said, "But the dumb group isn't us."
Bellriver then decided, "Alright, so, what's the plan on who's going where? We have 10 people in our group, we can all go in pairs if we want."
"Hm, what if the angels see through our low tier disguises?" Wish III asked, "Do we just run if they do?"
Garnet shrugged, "Eh, we'll all check what the angels at the gates think, but otherwise, yeah, we can just run."
Back in the Yggdrasil days, whenever an enemy saw through your disguise that enemy would usually be highlighted in red to tell you that you were discovered. So it should roughly be the same here.
Liberta then spoke up, "If I may dare to speak, my lords, could perhaps Lucilla travel this city alongside me?"
Lucilla looked a bit panicked at the sudden invitation. Not because she was opposed to traveling with her brother, but mostly because Liberta had spoken before any of the Supreme Beings had given them permission.
"Yeah, sure, we can do that for you, right guys?" Garnet approved, getting nods from everyone.
"Ah, but don't get caught in front of the angels," Tigris warned, "If the angels were summoned from a level 100 equipped summoner, even a tier 1 angel could kill you guys, since neither of you were given immunity passives."
Lucilla nodded, "I have detection skills to ensure that will not happen, Lord Tigris Euphrates."
Liberta nodded as well, "Yes, Lord Tigris Euphrates."
While it might be mildly dangerous to leave 2 NPCs alone together, the group of players held enough confidence in their intelligence to avoid danger.
Garnet then moved the conversation along, "Well, I'm going with Delta soo…"
"Simp," Bellriver immediately accused.
Garnet had just shrugged, and Delta looked completely unfazed by the entire situation.
"Hey, Wish, you wanna go check out the palace?" Wasewaru offered.
Wish nodded, "Yeah, I can do that."
"I want to go eat something in this city," Daijobubua said, "Anyone want to go look for food with me?"
Bellriver raised his hand, "Yeah, I can spare a few mouths for that."
Tigris and Pannokishi looked at each other, as Tigris said, "Wanna check out the church?"
Pannokishi nodded, "Sure. We can act like tourists."
And so the group set off to test out the angel standing guard at the open front gate.
Jircniv Rune Farlord El Nix sighed, laying on his couch eating fruits from the Holy Kingdom's finest farms.
It wasn't a very fond occasion, as his last proposal to try and improve Baharuth was completely and utterly rejected yet again by the Seraphim.
Jircniv didn't even think that this particular proposal should've been even slightly controversial. All Jircniv suggested was perhaps give more funding to schools to teach the children better. What could be so sinful about that?
Well, Jircniv supposed that he didn't get a personal visit by one of the Seraphim this time.
Jircniv had proposed to simply "Get rid of" all of the corrupt and lazy nobles back when he ascended to the throne when his father died, but then the leader of the Seraphim, Bless, had shown up to give him a long speech about the importance of using great power for good.
Hm, Jircniv hasn't heard from him in a while. He would like to hear his voice again one day. Though, someone as mighty as Bless would no doubt be very busy.
Unlike him, who for the past 10 years, hasn't done anything significant and his nickname among his citizens was now the "Puppet Emperor."
Jircniv scowled at the name. He was trying his best, but those angels from the Holy Kingdom time after time again just kept blocking all of his legislation. And apparently, he's getting news that the Seraphim are getting closer to their goal of getting the citizens of Re-Estisize to get used to not having a monarchy, meaning that Ramposa's bloodline was no doubt about to disappear, just as the council in the Slane Theocracy did all those years ago.
In Jircniv's opinion, the Seraphim should've just killed them all the moment they decided they weren't going to have kings or emperors anymore instead of continuing with this farce. But who is he to try to argue with the gods?
The door to his room suddenly knocked.
Just by the sound of it, Jircniv could instantly tell it was Fluder. No doubt he's come back here to cry about something again.
"Come in, gramps!" Jircniv shouted out his approval.
Fluder opened the door, and just as Jircniv predicted, he looked tired, "Hello, Jir."
"Rejected again?" Jircniv guessed.
Fluder lightly nodded, "Again," Fluder sighed out in despair as he sat across from him, "I feel so close to making a breakthrough, but they just won't tell me anything! Jircniv, what am I doing wrong? Was I not faithful enough? Must I become an angel as they are? Jircniv, please tell me you have the answers!"
Jircniv smiled, "Hah, I'm afraid that you'll have more luck finding an answer at the bottom of a bottle. My newest proposal just got rejected too."
Fluder looked only mildly shocked, "The education proposal got rejected too?"
Jircniv nodded as he took another fruit from his bowl, "Yep. The Seraphim hate children, I suppose."
Biting into his food, Jircniv speaks with his mouth full, "Though- mhm- I hear that Ramposa's going soon."
Fluder looked saddened by the thought, "Then we are next."
Jircniv swallows, "Yeah, that sounds like it. No point in wallowing though, right gramps? It's been this way for a decade."
Fluder sighed, "I suppose so…"
Jircniv honestly didn't like this turn of events, but again, what could he do?
Still, it hurts him slightly to see Fluder so upset, so Jircniv told him, "Hey, maybe you need to see your students a bit. You know, maybe tell them to head east, make a new life for themselves."
Fluder accepted the proposal, "Hah… I suppose so. There is nothing else to do in this city anyways."
Jircniv agreed, "You are right about that."
Fluder looked out the window, seemingly having picked up on something.
Usually when Fluder looked out the window, it usually meant he had picked something up with his magical detection talent.
Jircniv curiously asked, "Oh? Who is it? Is it one of the Seraphim coming over, not hiding their power at all?
Fluder shook his head, "No, the angel at the gate flared its mana for just a moment. It looked like someone was about to pick a fight before dropping it."
Someone wanted to pick a fight with one of the angel guards watching them? How foolish. At the very least, it seemed as if the newcomers dropped it.
Jircniv chuckled, "Ah, so nothing interesting, that's a shame."
Somehow, Jircniv missed his childhood of fear and uncertainty.
Mundanity has never been so discomforting.
As it turned out, the 6th tier angel casually guarding the front gate saw through the NPCs' disguises. When they realized that, they got ready for a fight, waiting for the angel to make a move.
But apparently, the angel did nothing else but look scary. It wasn't really trying to fight them.
"I believe the angel is set to intimidate, but not attack," Liberta had guessed, walking slightly closer to the angel, which didn't attack him, "Lucilla, will you walk closer?"
Lucilla looked towards the Supreme Beings for approval, at which they did give it. So Lucilla walked closer towards the angel.
The angel did not attack, and by this point, the angel had gone back to passively guarding the gate.
"Yeah, you're right, Liberta," Bellriver said, calming down, "Whoever put that order on the angels were kind of stupid."
"I mean, it does make sense," Garnet said, "These angels usually have some sort of healing spells on them, right? So attacking only after the enemy attacks is a pretty good guarding mechanism."
Garnet figured that it would probably be a PR disaster if an angel accidentally killed someone on accident, which would be why the guards aren't set to attack.
Pannokishi nodded to shift the subject, "So, can we just go inside? The gate is wide open…"
Everyone looked to each other, then, Bellriver cautiously entered the city.
The angel did not react at all.
"Yeah, it's safe," Bellriver said, "C'mon, let's go."
And so, everyone started to explore the city.
Garnet & CZ Delta ended up going to a blacksmith, mostly because the heat of the fire used to craft their weapons and armor was quite noticeable to the two automatons.
Garnet opened the door to the blacksmith's store, "Excuse me…"
The blacksmith's store was very full of things to buy. In fact, Garnet couldn't see a single wall that wasn't fitted with something to buy. And all of the items seemed to be of pretty high quality, even though it was only made of low level iron.
Though, Garnet did have a thought. If the quality was good, why were the prices so low? And why were there so many? If this were a good blacksmith, wouldn't they actually sell stuff?
Garnet eventually found the blacksmith, who was taking a nap behind the counter.
Well, this must be the laziest blacksmith of all time. Shouldn't blacksmiths be smithing all day every day?
Well, Garnet was already here, so he might as well talk to the guy.
Tapping his finger on the counter, Garnet woke up the blacksmith.
"Huh?!" The blacksmith woke up startled, not expecting a customer, "Oh! Are you a customer?!"
Garnet was about to nod, but then he realized he was absolutely broke. He had left all of his gold in the treasury when he had quit the game, and he didn't pick up any when Momonga had led them all to the treasury.
Garnet shook his head, "No, I was just interested in what was in here."
The blacksmith's face fell, "What? Are you…" The blacksmith sighed, holding back in a groan, "That's okay. You seemed to be a rogue or something of the like anyhow, aren't you?"
Ranger, but Garnet didn't connect him.
Then, the blacksmith introduced himself, "My name is Jobin. And you are…"
Garnet blanked on his name.
Luckily, Delta was made for the sole purpose of fixing Garnet's mistakes.
Delta spoke up, "I am Sentai. He is Gundam."
Jobin snorted, "Ah, blanked out on your name, huh? I understand, my sister's kid is exactly the same way."
Jobin then looked a bit weirded out as the names registered inside of his brain, "Sentai and Gundam though… Those are pretty weird names, huh? Your parents must've been laughing while they were naming you."
Garnet awkwardly nodded, "Uh… Yeah. Totally."
He was changing his codename as soon as he was out of this building.
"Anyways, anything caught your eyes?" Jobin asked, gesturing to the room, "I've been making a bunch ever since everything became so cheap. Though, there haven't been any workers to buy things from me…"
Garnet tilted his head, "Workers?"
Why would he get his own workers to pay for the things they made themselves?
Jobin raised an eyebrow, then he realized, "Oh! You must be a foreigner. That's what we call our adventurers. Like the other human kingdoms, we had a bunch of them before the Holy Kingdom essentially did all of the work in exterminating monsters, so people like us basically went out of work."
That made sense in Garnet's head. He heard some stuff about that back when they sent that first group to E-Rantel. Though, Garnet had to ask…
"So, where did all of your workers go?" Garnet curiously asked, "Did they get new jobs?"
Jobin shrugged, "Who knows. I heard some of them just quit the profession altogether and went to a different job. I think some of them went either east or south to go into the wilderness or Dragon Kingdom."
Ah, that's where the other two groups went! Garnet wonders if they met any of these adventurers or workers there.
Garnet nodded, "I see. So why are you still here?"
"Well, my family is all here, and food is so cheap nowadays that I could basically feed myself three times a day just by begging on the streets," Jobin said, before frowning, "Though, it's definitely a more boring life than it was 10 years ago."
Boring? From the sounds of it, though his job was basically being replaced, life was going good for them. Garnet knows he would've killed to have food so cheap he could do nothing all day and still eat three times a day.
"Is that such a bad thing, though?" Garnet genuinely asked, "You're all living better than you were just a decade ago, right?"
Jobin nodded, "Sure, we live better now. But really, I don't think most of us in this profession like the mundanity. We liked the excitement, the stress, and the thrill of our jobs. I prided on making the best gear I could to make sure that whoever was out there fighting didn't die. But now? I'm just making things for the sake of making things."
Garnet thought about Jobin's words a bit.
That did make some amount of sense to Garnet. Garnet didn't have a lot of pride in his work, but he could see how someone might view it differently. Though…
"Do the others agree with you?" Garnet asked.
Was this a common view, or was this just a fringe argument?
Jobin shook his head, "No, there are a lot of people who weren't affected negatively from The Holy Kingdom's exterminations. In fact, I would say that they actually love the mundanity of living the same day over and over again. They don't need to worry about how they're going to put food on the table anymore."
"Living the same day over and over again…" Garnet muttered out, thinking of his old life. Was he not practically living the same day for years? The only change was when he was playing games with his friends.
But wasn't that enough?
Garnet could not connect with Jobin's point of view, so he simply said, "I see. Well, I wanted to check out a few more places, so I have to go."
Jobin nodded, "Alright. If you ever want to buy something good, you know where I am. See you later, Gundam."
"See you later, Jobin" Garnet waved goodbye as he left the store.
After a few moments of walking, Garnet asked Delta, "Hey, what do you think about Jobin's opinions?"
Delta looked to Garnet after a moment of thought, "I have defended Nazarick for my entire life with pride and joy. I do not see why he should be so upset about days being the same."
Right, so basically the same opinion as Garnet.
Seraphim has been doing pretty good here, in Garnet's opinion. Despite what it sounds like Seraphim blowing up an entire section of the economy, everything else sounds pretty good.
And besides, war sucks. It's probably better in the long term this way, even if people like Jobin get left behind.
Garnet hummed, "Do you want to go anywhere else?"
Delta thought about it for a moment before replying, "Somewhere soft."
Well, looks like he was going to find a clothes store, or maybe something with toys? There should be something like that around here…
Bellriver whispered to Daijobubua, both of them sitting inside of a pretty small restaurant they found, "Psst, hey, if I fed myself from one of my other mouths, how do you think these guys will see it?"
Apparently, the restaurant gave people free food, literally because, according to a sign outside, "Food is so cheap it literally doesn't matter how much you pay us."
There was a tip system, but obviously they didn't have any clue how much Yggdrasil coins were worth here, so they decided not to tip.
Daijobubua looked at Bellriver oddly, "I honestly don't think you should try it."
Bellriver frowned, "Aww, come on, just once for testing?"
"It's already a miracle that they don't think our gear looks unnatural," Daijobubua pointed out, nobody in the restaurant looking oddly at them, "I think you shouldn't test if the ring has any limitations to it."
Bellriver looked thoughtful about it for just a moment.
Then he pulled out, "But I died. I think I should let myself do this, as a treat, you know?"
Daijobubua frowned, "I don't think that's a valid argument anywhere, Bellriver."
"I was literally blown to bits, you can give me this, right?" Bellriver said, taking a bit of bread into his hands, floating it over one of his arm mouths.
Quite frankly, it was almost disturbing to see Bellriver go from "I literally died, give me a break," to "I literally died, give me everything."
But to be fair, Daijobubua would've totally done the same thing if he had violently died and was suddenly revived. He could make a ton of money off of that somehow by writing a book maybe.
Daijobubua sighed, "If something bad happens, it's your fault and I will have nothing to do with it."
Bellriver took that as approval, and he dropped the loaf of bread into his arm.
It was very delicious, miles better than whatever he was eating back in the old world. The mouth on his arm was having gourmet food today.
Bellriver then decided that he's eventually just going to have to strip himself naked and try to jump into a pool of food. Would the others mind if they replaced the sauna water with ice cream? Bellriver never had any ice cream before, but it sounds like a good thing…
Daijobubua looked around the restaurant to see if anyone noticed.
Daijobubua's eyes fell on a little boy who was absolutely dumbfounded, staring at their direction.
The kid's mother was looking in a different direction, eating her own food, and apparently had not noticed her kid staring at the two of them.
Daijobubua slightly nudged Bellriver to get him to notice the kid.
Bellriver looked at the kid, and the kid stared back fearfully.
"So, what do we do?" Bellriver said, which made the kid start to grab for his mother.
"Nothing, dumbass," Daijobubua said, standing up, "Let's just go somewhere else. Don't do that again, we're lucky it was just a kid."
Bellriver sighed, getting up as well, moving towards the front door.
The kid started to cry, thinking they were coming after him, and the walking became speed-walking as they tried to disassociate from the kid who obviously saw through their disguise because of Bellriver's dumbassery.
As they were leaving, one of the staff at the front handed them a small slip of paper.
"What's this for?" Daijobubua asked.
"It's a fun fact," said the waiter, who did not seem very enthused about it, "Apparently, it makes people want to come back again."
"...Right," Bellriver decided to just push the two of them out, after they left, Bellriver asked, "Well, what's the fun fact?"
Daijobubua checked the paper.
"I can't read this."
"Translator?"
"Left it in the treasury."
Bellriver sighed, "Damn. Well, let's just get someone to read it to us. Why don't we find a bar or something and try to leech off drunk people there?"
Daijobubua hummed, "That sounds like a good idea. I've always wanted to try getting drunk."
The church was fairly quiet, all things considered. It wasn't very populated, but there were a few people here and there doing their own thing.
Tigris almost didn't want to speak because of how quiet everyone was while they were praying.
Pannokishi, unfortunately for Tigris, did not share that same sense of respect.
"Psst, hey," Pannokishi slightly nudged someone who looked vaguely official, "Who do you worship?"
The person who Tigris assumed was a bishop looked at Pannokishi oddly, "We worship The 72 Lords of Seraphim, of course. Who else would we worship?"
"Well, who did you worship before?" Pannokishi asked. And Tigris had to admit, that was a very good question.
The bishop replied, "The Six Great Gods. Of course, that was before The Seraphim proved themselves their superiors."
…Ah, yes, that does sound like something Seraphim would do.
"So, The 72 Lords of Seraphim are your gods now?" Pannokishi continued to ask.
The bishop nodded, "Yes, naturally. They are among us mortals, are they not?"
Pannokishi nodded, "Yeah, I guess so. So, how do you show your devotion to them?"
"As any good man would do. Offer prayers and gifts," The bishop easily answered, "I personally pray 3 times a day, and send the words of my fellow devout to their throne."
Pannokishi immediately honed in on one part of that sentence, "Throne?"
The bishop nodded, "Yes, it's quite readily known that they reside mostly in the London District. Though I'm sure you already know it, it's quite hard to enter that district without knowing the right people."
Tigris would've thought that they would've just let anyone in because Seraphim sounds like a bunch of egotistical delusional people who would've loved letting anyone come in to worship them. So why would it be hard to enter that district specifically?
Pannokishi continues to be an oddly good questionnaire as he asked, "Why is it hard, though? Shouldn't they make it easy to visit them if they were so benevolent?"
The bishop shrugged, "Well, it is just rumors, however… I hear that the lives of those in both London and Slane are exceptionally well off. In fact, I hear that Slane is being renamed next year to something new, just as the Roble Holy Kingdom was revised to The Holy Kingdom and Roble was named London. Perhaps they simply wish to, instead of gathering the greatest in London, spread prosperity everywhere. So to foster innovation, they shut off London to ensure that people will stay and make life better here."
Tigris wasn't sure how economics worked, but that vaguely sounds like it would work. Tigris didn't really have the information to say whether it was right or not to just not allow people to cross along their own country, but Seraphim probably has it handled just fine.
"I see, thank you," Pannokishi said, then turning to Tigris, "Wanna leave now?"
Tigris nodded, "Sure…"
As they left the church, Pannokishi remarked, "Hey, those guys aren't doing a bad job of running this place, aren't they?"
Tigris agreed, "Yeah, I mean, everything seems pretty good here. What else do you want to check out next?"
Pannokishi hummed, "Wanna see if street performers are actually a real thing?"
"Ooh, yeah. Gotta find out whether that's just a movie thing or not!"
Wish and Wasewaru both stood outside of the gates of the palace. Apparently, they just ditched human guards and started to put angels here.
Wish wanted to meet the supposed "Puppet Emperor" who lives here, mostly because he wanted to see if he could freak him out.
Wasewaru wanted try and serenade the emperor into coming out.
Wish, despite what he said a few moments ago seriously advised Wasewaru to try not serenading the emperor.
"Seriously dude, please don't sing," Wish quietly pleaded Wasewaru, who was in the middle of psyching himself up.
Wasewaru completely ignored Wish's pleas as he asked, "What should I sing? Something that they probably haven't heard before, right?"
"For the love of all things holy please do not," Wish deadpanned.
Wasewaru pulled out his lyre, and Wish could immediately tell that he was going to sing something cheesy.
So, Wish decided to just walk away, and watch the show.
Wasewaru began to sing, and the entire city lended an ear.
Liberta and Lucilla walked past another angel guard, who had seen past their illusions but had not attacked them anyhow.
Lord Wasewaru Kakyoku had started singing, and now the entire city was distracted, allowing for the two of them to carry out their own observations undisturbed.
Lucilla smiled in the direction of Lord Wasewaru Kakyoku's voice, "I feel so jealous of the people who can be there to hear him in person…"
Liberta nodded, "Yes, it would be an honor to be there in person. However, we have a duty we must fulfill first."
Lucilla turned back to Liberta, "Yeah, but you never said why we're going to the magical academy though?"
Lucilla knew that they were going to the academy to check out the levels of the students and teachers there. But Lord Nubo had already confirmed that there was nobody of any significant strength here, and just by using her own mana detection spells, she could easily see that there was nobody over the level of 40, meaning that even Liberta in his evening form could win against anyone there.
Liberta obviously has a different motive for trying to enter an area full of magic users, but Lucilla couldn't quite put a pin on why her brother is trying to do so.
Liberta shrugged, "When my prime heard of an magical academy, I wished to check if there was any particular artifacts that might become useful in creating my new perspective in the future."
…Ah, right. That.
To be perfectly honest, Lucilla didn't really like the fact that Liberta keeps making clones of himself. It was approved by Lady Orphea Scarlet, her creator, but even so, it still unsettles her to see her brother delving into the arcane like so, trying to reach the heights of their creators.
But still, she had to support her brother, so instead of voicing her discontent, she asked, "So, what's your new perspective going to be?"
Lady Orphea Scarlet had helped create the other perspectives, so this would be the first time Liberta would actually be doing it fully independently. Lucilla also knew that the effects of Nazarick entering this new world would affect Liberta's creation of his new perspective.
But Liberta probably has it handled. She hasn't seen her brother really struggle with anything since… Well, the invasion.
"In the middle of my life as a commander, just as Demiurge is," Liberta answered, "I found myself woefully unequipped to fully think through Lord Punitto Moe's questions of how we should treat this world. I believe becoming someone who leads others will help me in that aspect."
Lucilla hummed, "Well, what happens when you run out of time periods to make perspectives out of?"
Liberta shrugged, "I believe I will move on to perhaps trying to assimilate other's into our list of perspectives."
Lucilla tilted her head, "Why not just make yourself a girl? That sounds way less harder than whatever you just said…"
Liberta looked at Lucilla with a shocked expression, "Making my new perspective a woman?"
Then, Liberta suddenly turned thoughtful, "Yes, that is quite the viable means of changing my perspective into something new…"
Lucilla's faced turned dismayed, "Wait! No! Don't actually do that! That would be weird!"
Lucilla was absolutely not prepared to see her brother turn into a sister! She needed 10 years at least! She can't even imagine how awkward it would be to have her one brother also be a sister!
Liberta shook his head, "I am sorry, Lucilla. It may make you uncomfortable, but I'm afraid that this is something that must be done for my advancement."
"It's really not!" Lucilla retorted.
The conversation could not continue, however, as they had finally arrived at the source of all the magic in the city.
Though, the two could already tell that many of those magic users had left the premises to try and find Lord Wasewaru Kakyoku from the sound of his voice. If the two were them, they would've likely done the same as well, so they couldn't blame them very much.
"We will continue this conversation later," Liberta said, getting a frown from Lucilla, "Now, let us take the opportunity to scour through this place."
Lucilla sighed. Her brother was really insufferable sometimes.
"Is that… Wasewaru?" Tigris questioned as the street painter stopped his work to listen to the singing coming from the direction of the palace.
"I could've sworn Punitto said to keep a low profile or something," Pannokishi said, watching the street painter leave everything to go find Wasewaru.
Also, apparently everyone was dropping whatever they were doing to listen to him.
This went noticed by the two players, so Tigris shot a guess, "Is that a racial passive that Wasewaru has as a siren that makes everyone suddenly go to him?"
Pannokishi hummed, "I guess so? I remember Wasewaru talking about sirens being able to get people to listen to their voices…"
Pannokishi remembers getting super soggy when he was out and about in the rain. He also heard that the undead members of the guild also had their emotions dulled. Having a really good singing voice that caused people to want to go find it wasn't that much of a stretch in his mind.
"...We're going to have to save him, aren't we." Tigris deadpanned.
Pannokishi sighed, "Yeah, I guess…"
They both started to move towards the sounds of their friend singing.
"So, drunk people don't get affected by all that singing?" Bellriver said as he observed all of the sober people in the bar leave, while all the drunk people were still singing about shoes or something of the like.
Daijobubua had also managed to mooch off of someone paying for everyone's drinks, and found out that he couldn't get drunk. And Bellriver couldn't either, because he was on his 7th glass and he was yet to do something stupid again.
The man who was paying for everyone's drinks and was also currently on his 11th shot, Roberdyck, laughed at everyone leaving the bar as he elbowed Bellriver who was sitting next to him, "Hah! Look at them go! Hope they get there fast enough, haha!"
Roberdyck was also a trauma dumper, as Daijobubua and Bellriver learned when Roberdyck had gotten drunk enough to spill stories about his past.
Apparently, Roberdyck was an adventurer, or worker, the two couldn't really tell the difference, back in the day in a group called Foresight. They worked for years until the Holy Kingdom had gotten their hands on the Baharuth Empire, as this place was originally called. At first, it was basically fine, the Holy Kingdom apparently had other things to deal with, but eventually their policies went into affect here.
Said policies constitued the immediate deportation of literally every non-human species.
Including half-elves.
Foresight had an half-elf on their team, and apparently her and their leader were dating, so the leader tried to defend her when the angels told them to leave.
That ended in both him and her completely disappearing from society, leaving just Roberdyck and the mage of the group, Arche, stranded with no more Foresight. So now they were just chilling together, not really doing anything because their entire profession disappeared.
Roberdyck went to alcoholism, Arche went to go back to the magical academy to study. The two get together every now and then to just talk about the past, but Arche wasn't here right now so that wasn't very important and Roberdyck kind of glanced over that particular detail.
And apparently, everyone in the bar already knew all of that, because Roberdyck enjoys spilling that on anyone the moment they step in the bar and sits next to him.
So, the two players had to admit that maybe Seraphim wasn't doing the best job here. Why would they dump half-elves out anyway? They were basically in the same category as humans were. And Seraphim are angels! What's up with their human favoritism?
Daijobubua had actually tried to ask people why they were kicking out all non-humans out of the kingdom, but all he had gotten were obviously human supremacist answers, with nobody actually knowing the real answer why. So he had just dropped it and moved on.
Thankfully, Roberdyck was very drunk, so they were able to move on from that depressing backstory to be able to ask him some more specific questions.
For example, their little trivia fact they had gotten from the restaurant apparently read out, "Did you know: Dwarves used to live in the Azelia Mountains!"
They did not miss the fact that the trivia fact spoke in past tense.
Also, there apparently used to be elf slaves around here. But then Seraphim also kicked them all out too. Which, quite frankly, really weirded out both Bellriver & Daijobubua. Why the hell would Seraphim kick out slaves? Bellriver has a slave fetish so he was obviously on the side of the slaves, but even Daijobubua had to admit that was kind of fucked up.
Eventually though, the two had to say their goodbyes as obviously they weren't going to be getting drunk anytime soon, and Wasewaru was obviously doing something stupid, so the two bid their farewells to the bar.
"See you later!" Roberdyck shouted out his farewells, "Don't let those angels catch you!"
As the two left the bar, they noticed the streets were filled with people trying to catch a glimpse of Wasewaru.
"Racial passive?" Bellriver questioned, though they both already knew the answer.
"Racial passive. That moron," Daijobubua said, casting invisibility on himself to go fly over the rooftops to find Wasewaru, Bellriver quickly doing the same.
Bellriver was only slightly better at flying in real life than he was in game.
"I guess we're stealing," Garnet concluded after the owner of the plush toy store ran out to go find the source of the singing.
To be honest, it was a pretty good song. Not Garnet's type, though. But he's sure that his fellow guildmembers had it handled.
Delta pointed to a plush toy of a dragon, "Lord Garnet, may we please take that one?"
Garnet nodded, looking around the store, "Yeah, we can take that one. In fact, there's nobody stopping us right now…"
Garnet & Delta ended up robbing half the store before eventually deciding to stop and exit with their newly stolen goods, going up to meet with the rest of the group.
Liberta & Lucilla easily walked by the angels guarding the academy. Again, none of them seemed very interested in actually doing anything about the demon in their midsts, or the false human.
There were very few actual humans inside of the academy as of late, and those who were here were already leaving. So the two had all the time in the world to skim through the library.
"Lucilla, go check the library and take some magical and history books, will you?" Liberta asked, his eyes set to the stairs nearby, "I sense something of notable quality up above us."
Lucilla nodded, "Stay safe, okay?"
Liberta chuckled, "Of course. Enjoy yourself, Lucilla."
As the two siblings parted ways, Liberta could sense his perspective in his prime doing something foolish. However, as Cocytus was there with him, Liberta did not see it as urgent enough to give his full thoughts to at the moment.
So, Liberta simply climbed up the stairs, passing through empty hallways until eventually he came across a room labeled with words he cannot yet read.
Unfortunately, his prime perspective has the translator lens granted to them by Lady Orphea Scarlet. So until they had the time to lock themselves in a room for a few hours to learn the local language, it will remain unreadable to them for now.
Checking for any traps and finding none, Liberta enters the room, finding an office.
Liberta could sense the magical device coming from the inside of the desk sitting in the middle of the room, and once again checking for traps, he walks to the desk to inspect it.
Opening the drawer he felt the magical device in, Liberta was mildly intrigued to find that it was some variation of a level 70 angel dust that could be harvested from high level angels.
It wasn't the exact kind he had seen before, this dust seems more impure compared to the kind sitting inside of the vaults of Nazarick. However, that impurity was what made it special in his eyes. After all, impurity was what was used to create his other perspectives.
Taking the dust to place inside of his inventory, an older voice of a man came from the entrance, "You seem quite eager to rob me, sir."
Liberta looked to whoever spoke, and it seemed to be quite the elderly mage. Though, judging from the lack of quality gear on him, and the amount of mana he was sensing, he couldn't be higher than level 40.
Liberta wasn't worried at all, so he replied, "Yes, the impurity of this material will be quite useful to me. I must thank you for gathering it here for me."
The elderly man frowned, "It took me quite a while to gather all of that, you know. Speaking of, is that an subspace you are using as a bag of holding?"
Liberta tilted his head, wondering how to answer that. Clearly, he was asking about his inventory, but seeing as he didn't know the term, it was clear this was a native who had seen an inventory before, but doesn't know the exact wording.
So, he clearly must've met someone from the old world before. This made him worth not killing.
"Ah, but where are our manners? My name is Dottore, and you are?" Liberta said, giving him a false name to ensure he did not give away even the slightest hint of Nazarick.
"I am Fluder Paradyne, the headmaster of this academy you seem to be so casually strolling through," Fluder answered, "Now, I must ask, how can you create that bag of holding through magic?"
Liberta doesn't necessarily want a fight to occur, especially considering that Lord Punitto Moe quite clearly requested everyone to avoid all fighting if possible, so he freely granted the answer, "It is a power granted to me by the conditions of my birth. However, it is called an inventory."
Fluder's eyes turned mildly shocked, "Oh! I'm quite grateful to you for answering that! None of the Seraphim has ever easily answered any of my questions."
Ah, so Fluder has contact with the Seraphim, that's quite good to know. Now, how can Liberta wring out answers from him?
Testing the waters, Liberta simply mildly jabbed at Seraphim, "Truly? Well, it is natural for deceptive beings to never tell the truth."
Fluder nodded, "Indeed. By the way, I see that you are concealing your magic. Perhaps it may be a bit rude for me to ask this of you… But may I see your full power?"
Liberta shook his head, "I'm afraid not. It would cause too much attention if I were to do so."
"Is that so? That's a shame," Fluder said, frowning, "Though, I can just see from the quality of your robes, you are quite strong, aren't you?"
Liberta nodded pridefully, "Of course. And while on the topic of gear, I must ask why you seem so… Woefully underequipped for a man of your status."
While Liberta couldn't quite expect gear on the same level as the Supreme Beings could provide from these natives, it was quite odd to see gear that would be in their low tens in Yggdrasil to be worn by someone of clearly higher status.
Fluder, however, didn't seem to catch on to Liberta's line of questioning, "Excuse me? My robes and staff do not heavily affect my magic casting."
Liberta's eyes turned predatory, hungry for knowledge.
This was not how the natural order of things went. While there was an amount of natural power someone had, the vast majority of their power came from what they wore. It was why the Supreme Beings had given so much care and attention to their appearance. If they weren't equipped with the finest they could carry, they could not defend Nazarick to its fullest extent.
Now, this human was attempting to say that their gear had little affect? The scholar within Liberta wished to know how much of what Fluder was saying was ignorance, and how much of it was truth.
"Is that so? In that case, cast an offensive spell on me," Liberta demanded.
Fluder's face was filled with confusion, "What? Why would you wish to test that?"
"It's a simple, scholarly test," Liberta said, waiting the attack, "You can indulge me after I have answered some of your questions, correct?"
Fluder stared at Liberta's eyes, attempting to find any deceit within him. But finding none, Fluder raised his hand and incanted the third tier spell, "[Fireball]."
The room was engulfed in flames as the fireball hit Liberta squarely in the chest. However, due to the difference of power between them, Liberta was not so injured, despite possessing new burn marks.
Liberta took note of the damage taken. Most definitely that of a level 39 mage with full gear on, which was already an oddity due to the lack of quality gear on Fluder. He then tossed his own staff, Asteroph's Envy, over to Fluder, "Now, use Fireball again."
Normally, if someone attempted to use gear over their level, it would simply fall off their body, if you could even equip it at all. While that didn't affect whether you could carry something or not, it was sometimes inconvenient to use something only to find it was more than you could handle. In Liberta's case, he's had quite a few times some books in the Library of Ashurbanipal could only be read by an higher leveled creation, causing him to simply write it down as something his prime or penultimate perspectives would have to read later.
Judging by the level of mana, Fluder could not use the level 60 staff that Liberta possesses. However, Fluder didn't seem to know that as he used the staff to incant, "[Fireball]."
The resulting fireball was much brighter than it was last time, and when Liberta took the hit, he was forced back a few feet into the desk, his clothes slightly ruined, but not unfixable.
Yes, that was a much stronger attack. Not quite level 60, but much stronger than what he should have if Liberta was correct in his assessment at putting him as level 39.
And it was an exception to the rules.
Liberta chuckled, "How interesting! You shouldn't have been able to use my staff! Tell me, is there anything that allows you to use things you shouldn't be able to?"
Fluder shook his head, "My talent is to detect mana. I have no talent or spell that would allow me to use things that I physically cannot use. However, I cannot say I fully understand your question…"
Liberta could see the hunger in Fluder's eyes for answers, and Liberta bet that if he played his cards correctly, Fluder could become a useful asset for Nazarick.
So, Liberta first asked his own question, "I'm afraid that I'm not familiar with the term 'talent' as you are using it. Why don't you inform me, and I shall explain to you the rules that we operate on?"
Fluder's eyes widened as he finally seemed to realize the nature of who he was talking to, "You are…! Ahem! Yes! A talent is something that some beings on this world are born with. My own talent is to sense mana, but there are other talents such as being able to learn things faster, or to cast spells that they normally cannot. There are also talents of the physical sort, as I know quite a few warriors who are able to run for far longer than they normally should," As he finished Fluder's eyes and voice turned manic and walked slowly towards Liberta, offering his staff back, "Did that satisfy you, sir!? Will you tell me the answers that I've been searching for?!"
Liberta grinned as he took the staff back, "Yes, that was enough."
So, talents were essentially something that people were given at birth. That's quite interesting to know, and he's sure that Demiurge will enjoy dissecting people to find the reason behind it.
Now, Liberta paid Fluder back by telling him why the results of the minor experiment was so interesting, "Under the laws that govern me, it is gear that determines how much of your potential you can manifest. If we are to put it into numbers, I, and my gear, are at level 60. You are around level 39, but your gear is that of someone at level 10. However, your initial fireball hit me with the force of a fully geared level 39 mage. And after I lended you my staff, you hit me for much harder than that. However, you shouldn't have been able to use the staff. If I were to use something beyond my level, it would simply reject me and force itself out of my hands. That is what should've happened to you, but it did not. You are a native, yes? While we may share the same system of magic, we clearly do not share the same rules inside of that system."
Liberta then narrowed his eyes, it finally dawning on him why everyone he had passed by from this academy seemed so weak, "If you were to reach your fullest potential, you would be a risk to Seraphim's position as the kings of this kingdom. That is why you were bereft of answers."
It made clear sense. If Fluder were to reach level 100, and was equipped with level 100 gear, then even the Supreme Beings would have a difficult time fighting him one on one. It seemed as if Seraphim realized it too, because with this new information, he could finally see what the true nature of this academy is. It's an prison, designed to ensure that its prisoners never realize that they have a blindfold on to see the truest potential of the self.
Fluder's eyes suddenly aged back a decade as he seemed to recall every single interaction he's had with the angels from a new perspective, and he fell to his knees with tears in his eyes, "I see it now! Master Dottore! You have opened my eyes! For years, The Seraphim have told me that the 6th tier was the limit, that I reached the peak of humanity. I never believed them! Please, you are so much more knowledgable than me. You hold information I've been seeking for a hundred years! I know I may be pathetic in comparison to you, and you obviously see our ability to subvert your own rules as a inherent risk, but please! Make me your student! I will sell my soul to you if I have to! I will betray humanity if you wish! But please! Let me follow you and allow me to just take a gaze at the truest depths of magic!"
Liberta's grin widened, "If you wish to follow me…"
Liberta in the evening of his life was a warlock, made specifically to dabble in the darkest arts known. While dabbling in demonics, he found quite the useful spell that demons use to bind pawns to themselves.
Liberta reached out to Fluder, his hands turned pitch black and glowed with red and green demonic energies, his voice sounding harsher and more malevolent by the affect of his spell, "Bind your soul to me. Confirm your loyalty."
Fluder knew he was dealing with a demon, but after 200 years of living, how could he ever refuse the opportunity to have his eyes unblinded?
Fluder had never moved faster to shake someone's hand in his life.
In the middle of the bard's wonderful song, Jircniv's head felt compelled to spend a moment looking in the direction of Fluder's academy.
Jircniv didn't quite know why, but it just felt as if Fluder had gone through something marvelous. Perhaps it was just pure superstition, but he felt as though he and Fluder had gone through enough together to know when things happened to each other.
And Jircniv could just feel Fluder's elation.
Jircniv allowed himself to give a bit of happiness to Fluder for discovering something amazing that he will no doubt hear about later tonight when Fluder returned.
But for now, he needed to keep listening to this bard. He can think about Fluder at some other time.
Lucilla's eyes narrowed upon seeing Fluder, "Who's this weakling loser?"
Liberta chuckled, "Our new asset. Though, I believe he is closer to one of those "Potential Mans" that Lady Orphea Scarlet once described to us a few years ago."
Lucilla tilted his head, "Really? How is he a potential man?"
Liberta then went on to explain what he had just learnt, mostly for practice on how to say it in front of the Supreme Beings.
Lucilla kind of got it, "Oh, so he really is a potential man, I guess…"
He's apparently the "Peak" of humanity, but isn't really that powerful right now. But apparently if he was allowed to become stronger, he would even surpass the strength of a singular Supreme Being at least in theory.
Yes, this does sound like a potential man.
Fluder, who seemed to be rather fine with having his soul sold to Liberta, decided to speak up, "Ah, miss…"
"My name right now is Lily," Lucilla filled in the blank. No need to be rude to someone smart enough to be under Liberta's thumb.
Fluder nodded, "Miss Lily, if I may dare ask, how strong are you in comparison to Master Dottore?"
It was hard to tell whether or not Liberta had filled him in on the whole perspective thing, so Lucilla ended up being wishy washy with her answer.
Lucilla looked to Liberta, who sported a frown on his face, "Well, if you're talking about if we fought right now, I would win. But if we were to fight in his favor, he would beat me easily."
Fluder was very interested in this line of powerscaling, however, "Is that so? How come the tides shift so easily, as you put it?"
Lucilla scratched her head, "Hey, did you tell him about the… things yet?"
Liberta shook his head, "No, I was planning on introducing him to the rest of the group, then taking him to our home before fully revealing ourselves. No need to find whether or not the walls have eyes and ears."
Fluder accepted the situation, knowing that it was useless to keep asking questions now, "I see. Then I will eagerly await that time when I may see your true power."
Lucilla nodded, "Alright. In that case, let's go. I stole a bunch of books that looked vaguely magicky."
Liberta nodded, "Good, I'll take them from you later."
And so, they moved towards the sound of Lord Wasewaru Kakyoku's voice.
Wasewaru finished his song with a bow, and the entirety of Arwintar cheered for the green siren disguised as a human.
The emperor also enthusiastically cheered for Wasewaru, and Wasewaru was, no doubt, on the highest high of his life.
"Thank you! Thank you!" Wasewaru was loudly showing himself off the the massive crowd that formed in front of the palace. In fact, even the angels were checking out the commotion.
The emperor, who Wish thought was kinda hot in a totally non-homosexual way, loudly congratulated Wasewaru, "Well done! That was truly the greatest performance I have ever heard in my life! What is your name, bard?"
Wish somehow immediately knew that Wasewaru was about to do something catastrophically stupid.
Wish was basically vindicated immediately after thinking about it, because Wasewaru shouted out, "My name is Wasewaru Kakyoku! The greatest bard in the land!"
And all that time spent thinking about cool codenames basically disappeared. Great.
Wish immediately took action and broke past the crowd and grabbed Wasewaru by the back of his shirt, "C'mon, dumbass, let's go home."
"Wait! Come on, Wish! My fame!" Wasewaru shouted out, meekly struggling against Wish's grasp, also doxxing him in the process.
"Nope, shut up, we're going," Wish put his foot down, trying to find literally anywhere to put on an invisibility spell on the two of them.
Thankfully, his teammates have a brain, because Tigris messaged him, "Hey, heard you were done. We managed to clear out an alley way, we put an normality scroll around it because apparently Bellriver just has those in his inventory for some weird reason. We can get you out of there."
Thank god for smart teammates!
After that whole ordeal, they managed to teleport everyone outside of the city so they could pool together the information that they got from their little trip. And since the sun was setting, they decided they would get in touch with Nazarick before deciding what they should do next.
First of all, Liberta and Lucilla apparently caught a stray mage. With that also came the information that the natives in this world don't actually follow the same rules that the players or NPCs do. That was actually very good to know, and Wish is sure that all the smart technical people in the guild will love talking to Fluder about it.
Fluder was also visibly excited upon realizing that there were people stronger than Liberta, and that Liberta was actually just the equivalent of a middle manager in comparison to Ainz Ooal Gown proper.
But then came the darker information about Seraphim's actions.
"Wait, they're seriously just kicking anyone who isn't a human out of here?" Questioned Wish, who wasn't involved at all for anything information related, "Like, just tossing them out of the country?"
Bellriver nodded, "Yeah, man! It's seriously fucked up! There's no reason why they can't just keep them around!"
"Hm, Fluder, do you have any idea why Seraphim is doing that?" Tigris decided to ask the one person who had actually met anyone from Seraphim so far.
Fluder shook his head, "I'm afraid not. However, thanks to Master Dottore's experiments, I was able to gain insight into the fact that the 72 Lords of Seraphim may not actually want to teach us anything due to the fact that our potential is higher than they are…"
Which, to be perfectly honest, Wish didn't understand that part either. If Ainz Ooal Gown had a bunch of people who could be super useful in a fight, they would probably teach them. Maybe not to the extent where they could turn against them, but they wouldn't totally neuter them.
But apparently, Seraphim was paranoid enough to keep a lid on them.
Fluder apparently wasn't done speaking, "Ah, by the way, if I may ask, what is the truest highest tier of magic? The 72 Lords of Seraphim has always told me it was the 6th tier, but I always knew it was a lie, I have seen higher tiers of magic before."
"Eh? The 6th tier? Man, that is deliberate as hell," Remarked Bellriver, who was mildly impressed with Seraphim deliberately telling everyone that the highest tier of magic was, conveniently, the tier where magic immunity 3 was about to end.
"Yeah, that is deliberate, since magic immunity only goes up to the 6th tier," Said Daijobubua, "Anyways, the actual highest tier is the 10th tier-"
Daijobubua couldn't finish his sentence before Fluder exclaimed, "The tenth tier?!"
Daijobubua decided not to tell him about the super-tier spells just yet, "Yeah."
Fluder looked immensely excited, "Please, I know it is quite rude, but please take me to your home so that you may shed your disguises!"
Lucilla coughed, tapping her scythe on the ground, "Do not think too highly of yourself."
Fluder reined in his excitement, "Ah! Excuse me! I could hardly contain my excitement…"
"Well, anyways-" Wish was about to move on, but he wasn't given the opportunity to.
"Guys! A massive emergency is happening right now! Get back to Nazarick as soon as possible!" Nubo's voice shouted out in all of their heads, before immediately disconnecting.
"What?!" Pannokishi was the first to shout out, "The hell happened?!"
"Who cares?!" Bellriver shouted out, quickly creating a gate to Nazarick, "C'mon! We gotta go!"
Everyone swiftly jumped into the gate, rushing towards to find out how to help their friends.
AN:
Fluder is my favorite new worlder, Jircniv is my 2nd so you'll be seeing him more soon enough, and then I literally don't really care that much about every other new worlder. Those two probably have the more plot armor than Vagisilious because I'm not touching them negatively. They're going to have the easiest life ever*.
Anyhow, between last chapter & this chapter, I joined the Grand Library of Ashurbanipal Discord server, so if you have any questions you wanna toss at me that can't be saved for the comments, feel free to go into my little channel on the Grand Library of Ashurbanipal. Though do be warned there'll be spoilers here and there, but you could probably expect that.
Anyhow, I remember reading about a comment saying that he would've liked to have the new worlders do something that wasn't just sitting around & dying. And that combined with my Yggdrasil system of most of a player's stats coming from gear ended up fusion dancing into this weird interaction between 2 different systems.
Hm, I wonder if there's like, oh, I don't know, a way to skip past all of the grinding a new worlder would have to do to get to level 100. And I wonder if there's like, say, a new worlder that I'm really fond of…
Idk man, just saying. Author's favoritism is kinda hard to spot sometimes.
Almost 11k words btw. I was definitely smoking last chapter when I said this should've been like a 5k chapter lmao. There's no reason this should've been a long chapter.
Luckily, the next is the Dragon Kingdom, and obviously there's nothing important happening there, right?
X
It's 10:34 PM right now, so we're definitely back to late night postings.
Speaking of which, a few days ago I uploaded Momonga's Inventory, which was made in like 6 hours because of a joke I made in my discord channel.
Oh, right, so here are my current stock of shitty MS Paint photoshoppings.
(Which, obviously, you can't see because you're on FFN. If you want to see them, they're on Ao3. Same title, same name, same chapter.)
Wasewaru's image is from Angelo from AFK Arena, because my Free To Play Dumbass keeps playing that game. Same goes for Lucilla, because she's literally an expy. And you've seen Liberta before, and you know Jircniv & Fluder.
Anyhow, I'm 2 out of 3 on how many chapters I need to post this month to be able to complete my April Fools chapter on time, so depending on how fast I complete next chapter, maybe you can see a 4 chapter month? Who knows, because the next 3 chapters are all going to be fairly big, though the Dragon Kingdom is actually pretty simple compared to Re-Estisize.
And I just realized, this is another chapter where Vagisilious doesn't get mentioned at all aside from the author's notes. Isn't that crazy? Imagine being ignored twice on your own fic.
Anyhow, once again, if you want to talk to me, I'm on the Grand Library of Ashurbanipal discord server, but other than that, feel free to boost the comment count. I will be there* (If you ask a question.)
