Author's Notes: Hey everyone, sorry that it has taken me so long to update, hit a bit of writer's block. Anyway here we go, as always I own nothing.

It did not take Sansa long to settle in to life in Dorne. When she had first arrived at King's Landing she had thought the place nearly unbearably warm but Dorne was almost stifling. Fortunately, there was often a breeze from the sea which brought a cool draft to Sunspear. Also, apart from her husband, there were no Lannisters in Sunspear, a great improvement over King's Landing. She had also found that after the initial first meeting she had begun to make friends among Prince Oberyn's daughters.

While Obara continued to intimidate her Nymeria and Tyene soon became much friendlier. Though she welcomed their lack of hostility they still made her uneasy. Tyene was always sweet and kind, in a way she seemed almost too much so, like an over-sweet wine, too much would make one ill. While she was not overly sweet like her half-sister Nymeria too made her uneasy. She was always refined and elegant, like Sansa herself had always tried to be. It was her name that gave her pause. Every time Sansa heard it she was reminded of Arya. Nymeria had been the name of Arya's Direwolf so every time Sansa heard the name it started a train of thought that reminded her of her sister.

Tyrion seemed wary of them as well. He did not say anything to her, doubtless he thought such things were beyond her understanding, but she saw the way he would grow wary when he spoke to them. Outwardly, he was very polite, the very soul of courtesy in his dealings with them and their uncle, but he was always leery. Watching them it was almost like watching a dance.

Actually, Sansa found that the one she was closest to of all them was Elia, the eldest daughter of Prince Oberyn and Ellaria. She arrived at Sunspear a few days after Sansa and the others from the Water Gardens and immediately made Sansa's acquaintance. She was around Sansa's age with dark hair, which she wore in a braid, and eyes that reminded Sansa of the girl's father. In many ways Elia reminded Sansa of Arya, the Dornish girl had a wild streak in her that Arya would have loved, perhaps that was what drew Sansa to Elia, being with her was like being with her sister again. So she happily accepted the invitation when Elia invited her to go riding with her.

The horses that they were riding were nothing like the horses that she had ridden before. They were slender with long necks and narrow heads. The one that Elia rode was almost golden in color and she told Sansa that its name was Golden Dawn. The one for Sansa was pure white in color, Elia told her that it had just been broken but had a naturally gentle nature. She then surprised Sansa that the horse was a gift to her, a welcome present to Dorne. After thanking her in the manner that her mother had taught her Sansa named the horse Winter Wind. After that they went for a ride.

Sansa had never been to a desert before, she found it to be both desolate and strangely beautiful. When they came to the edge of the desert Elia had looked at her and, grinning in a way that made Sansa think of Arya, she spurned Golden Dawn into the dunes, Sansa following behind. It was like no riding experience that she had ever had before. Winter Wind seemed to not so run as glide across the dunes, her feet barely seeming to touch the ground, she found herself laughing, half in delight and half in fear that she would fall. She was soon riding faster than she ever had before, the wind whipped through her hair and the sun felt wonderful against her skin. They soon left the servants and guards, including Brienne, behind. When they reached the top a dune Elia reined in her horse and turned to look at Sansa.

"I see that you are enjoying the ride."

"Indeed," Sansa said; "Winter Wind is like no horse I have ever ridden before." This remark caused Elia to laugh and smile.

"I should think not, there are no finer horses in all of the world than the Dornish sand steeds." She paused for a moment and looked thoughtful. But when she spoke it was in a casual manner.

"By the way, you may not know this but my father sent me a letter from King's Landing, it arrived yesterday evening."

"Indeed?" Sansa said.

"Yes, most of it was not anything that you would be interested in I am sure, but there was something. He mentioned that the Small Council received a raven from Roose Bolton." Sansa stiffened at the mention of the hated name but she forced herself to keep her voice calm.

"Indeed?"

"Yes, it seems that the wildlings made an assault on the Wall." Sansa gasped, she remembered the stories that Old Nan had told about the people who lived beyond the Wall. She remembered Nan telling them that the wildlings were cannibals and ate the flesh of those they killed.

"But they were repelled?" She asked.

"Oh yes, they were repelled." Elia assured her and Sansa sighed in relief. Then another thought occurred to her which made anxiety shoot through her again.

"Did the letter say if my brother, Jon Snow was alright?"

"I am afraid not, though it did say that the Night's Watch had taken heavy loses. But what was really interesting was what else was in the letter. Apparently the Watch was rescued by Stannis Baratheon of all people." That was a surprise to Sansa, she had thought that Stannis had been broken at the Battle of Blackwater, said said as much to Elia.

"It would appear not. But it is interesting."

"What is?"

"That he was able to raise an army to replace the one he lost. That takes a lot of money, one wonders where he was able to get his hands on that much gold." She then turned to look full at Sansa. "So tell me, who do you think will win?"

"Win what?"

"Why, the war of course. It seemed that the Lannisters were set to win after what happened to your family, but now it seems that Stannis is back in the game and of course there is still the Greyjoys. Bolton claims to have driven them from much of the North but there is still the Iron Islands themselves. So I ask again, who do you think will win?"

Sansa did not know what was happening, if this was a trap or not, but if it was Elia would be disappointed. King's Landing had taught her how to deal with traps.

"The King is my nephew by marriage and I am loyal to my family." Elia looked as if she would say something but before she could they heard the sound of the others catching up at last and she held her peace.
