Author's Notes: Hey everyone, you said you wanted more so here it is. As always I own nothing blah, blah, blah. Warning, disturbing stuff in this chapter.
Sansa stared at the judges, feeling as if a lump of ice had formed in her belly and then fallen to her feet. While she had known that she would likely be convicted and in truth she was more than a little surprised that she hadn't been convicted of witchcraft as well. After all, she really was guilty of that, the thought of that almost made her smile. Then she remembered that she might face execution, she did not fear death but she did not want to die here, she still had too much to do. She look over at the Queen Mother and saw the older woman barely managing to hide a small smirk of triumph. Then she realized that the old man was speaking again.
"Normally, apostasy can be punished with death. However; you are both you and were improperly raised. Your father was pagan and both your mother and the septa assigned to instruct you in matters of faith failed to show you the proper path. Here, within these walls, we shall correct their failure. You shall be confined to your cell till you admit your sins. When that happens you shall receive proper instructions in matters of faith. Once it is determined that your instructions have been completed you shall be released.
"I fear though that so far your pride has prevented you from confessing your sins, your pride needs to be broken." He gave a signal with his hand and two septas came up to her, one was her jailor and was rawboned yet still strong looking and from her belt hung a long, thin leather cord. Two members of the Faith Militant seized her arms while her jailor tore her shift, leaving Sansa's back bare, while the other took the cord from her belt. Sansa barely had time to realize what was going to happen, let alone prepare for it before the first blow fell.
At Winterfell she had never been struck, she had always been too obedient for that. Even Arya had never been struck, Father had for the most part left the disciplining of the girls to Mother and the Septa Mordane and neither of them had ever raised a hand to Sansa's willful younger sister. Still, Sansa had been beaten often since leaving her home and was certain that she could deal with anything the horrible woman could do to her and then the first blow landed.
This was different from previous beatings. Those had been heavy and blunt, these blows were fast and sharp. The cord was not a true whip and the blows barely broke the skin. Still, the blows stung and left her breathless and she could feel blood seeping from her cut skin. She did not even try to hold her cries of pain in and cried out with each blow. She did not know how long it lasted but at last it ended. As soon as the whipping stopped the old men came up to her and spoke in a surprisingly gentle voice.
"I know you may not understand Child but this is for your own good. Pain cleanses us of our sins and brings us closer to the gods. I never feel closer to them than when I am being whipped for my sins. Till you confess your sins you shall be whipped every seventh day. Please believe me when I say that this is being done for your own good and we wish only to help you cleanse your soul of impurity." With that he rose and turned to Cersei, whose eyes almost seemed to be glowing with delight as she looked at Sansa.
"Your Grace, there is a matter that I wish to discuss with you if you please." Something in his voice suggested that it was not quite a request. Cersei, her face taking on a look of calm serenity, rose and move to follow him.
"Of course High Septen." With a last look at Sansa she followed the old man from the room.
Sansa was taken back to her cell, so weak she had to be half carried by the men who had held her during her ordeal. When they reached her cell they took her in and dropped her on the floor. Pulling the rages of her clothing around her she crawled into a corner and held herself till the pain lessened enough that she could at last drifted off to sleep.
Author's Notes: A bit rough and short I know but hey, its Game of Thrones, if someone isn't suffering then it isn't being done right. So was this more or less upsetting than what happened to her in the show? Let me know in the next time please pray, in addition to everything else I've asked for, a family friend who had her child three months early. Thanks and may Jesus bless you.
