Author's Notes: Hey everyone, glad that you liked the last chapter and I hope that you like this one, as always I own nothing.
Sansa went along the hallway, a feeling of anxiety growing inside her. If it were just a message then whoever has sent it would simply have sent a raven. No, this was likely something far more serious and Sansa had long learned to associate that with trouble. She was about to head toward the gate to meet whoever it was, then she stopped herself. She was the Wardeness of the North, it would seem undignified for her to rush to the gate like a little girl. She slowed her pace to a walk and turned to one of the guards.
"I shall await them in the main hall, escort them there." The guard nodded and continued towards the gate while Sansa proceeded to the great hall. Once there she seated herself on Fa…on her chair. It still felt strange sitting in it, but it was getting better. Sansa was not sure if that was a good thing or not. Once in her seat she composed herself and waited for whomever it was to appear, she did not have to wait for long. Soon the door opened and the guard walked in and with her was a familiar figure.
"Lady Sansa." Brienne declared.
Sansa stared at her in surprise. She had not seen the other woman since she had been seized by the Faith Militant. She had occasionally wondered where her self-appointed protector had gone. She felt a bit of guilt that she had not thought more about Brienne while she had been on the run. Sansa realized that she had half-hoped that Brienne had gone home to Tarth, but looking at the large woman she now realized that that would never have happened, Brienne's sense of honor would never allow her to give up looking for Sansa. Realizing that she was staring like an idiot she hastened to speak.
"It is good to see you, Brienne." Brienne gave a bow.
"It is good to see you as well my lady. I have been searching for you ever since King's Landing." Those words brought a fresh stab of guilt through Sansa. She had done nothing to find Brienne or even contact her. She was not sure how she could have done that, but she could have at least made the effort. To cover her discomfort, she forced herself to smile.
"I trust that I did not give you too much difficulty." Brienne did not smile.
"Nothing that I could not handle my lady." Sansa now remembered that she had suspected that Brienne had little or no sense of humor. Looking closer Sansa saw that something was clearly bothering the older woman.
"Is something bothering you?" There clearly was, but Brienne was clearly reluctant to talk, casting a quick glance at those around them. Sansa rose from her seat and started walking toward the door.
"Mother never had the chance to show you Winterfell. Come, let me show it to you." The guards stared to follow, but she waved them away.
"I think that I should be alright, I am going no farther than the courtyard." The two women walked out into the courtyard.
With the coming of winter the sky was overcast more often than not and the day was no exception. There had been a light snow fall which had left a light coating on the ground which crunched as they walked beneath the moon. It was beautiful, but it still made Sansa frown. She remembered how she had played with her siblings in the snow, those happy memories had been made bitter by all that had happened. Still, she had not come outside to relive the past. She turned towards Brienne, but before she could speak something stuck her.
The breath went out of her in a gasp her body seemed to go cold and numb at the same time. Her vision swam before her eyes, she heard Brienne calling, but she sounded far away and Sansa could not understand her. Her body seemed to grow very heavy and her legs buckled beneath her, the darkness took her before she hit the ground.
Author's Notes: Hey everyone, sorry it has been so long since I updated. In truth, I was trying to figure out how to reconcile having Brienne there with the whole Stannis thing, as you see I overcame that problem. Till next time please pray for the victims and their families of the bombings in the Middle East, the killings in Japan and the violence in the US and everyone else who needs it. Bye and may Jesus bless you.
