Author's Notes: Hey everyone, sorry that it has been so long. As always I own nothing.
Arya looked at her, an expression of impatience on her face.
"What are you talking about? We need to get out of here!"
"Then what?" Sansa countered.
"We go home." Arya said, as if that was the most obvious thing in the world. Sansa suppressed a sigh, it was indeed Arya.
"And then they follow us." She spread her arms to encompass the whole of the camp and then continued speaking.
"Tell me, do you have the ability to outrun horses and dragons?" Arya looked as if she wanted to answer, but Sansa continued speaking.
"And even if we were to make it back to Winterfell they will eventually come there as well. Believe me sister, Daenerys Targaryen is very much her ancestor Aegon the Conqueror. She will not stay here in the south, she wants all the Seven Kingdoms, including the North.
"Of all the armies in Westeros hers is by far the largest. If she marches north now there is no way that King Stannis could stop her." Arya did not look particularly concerned.
"So? Lord Stannis was an enemy of Robb. Or did you forget that?" Sansa sighed. Gods! How could she have forgotten how pig-headed her sister could be?
"I swore loyalty to King Stannis. I gave an oath." Then inspiration struck her and gave an argument which was sure to bring Arya around to her side.
"Besides, Jon likes him. When I was at the Wall he told me about how the King came to his aid and saved the Night's Watch." As she had hoped that seemed to win Arya over. She had always been close to their half-brother, closer than the sisters had ever been and Arya would be more favorably inclined to someone who had Jon's approval. There was more, of course. There was also the matter of the threat from the North which the King was preparing to fight. However; Sansa did not have time to explain all of that at the moment so she used Jon's acceptance of the King to gain her sister's support.
"Fine," Arya said after a moment; "But how does you staying here help anything?" Sansa smiled.
"While some people may accept her because of her name; what will really put her on the Iron Throne is her army and dragons and this army is united in name only. The foreigners have no stake in this war apart from their loyalty to the Queen. Her main source of strength here in Westeros are the Martells and the Tyrells. They not only provide her with military strength they are also two of the Lords Paramount and they give her political legitimacy. However; there is a flaw there. The alliance is not a stable one."
"What do you mean?" Arya asked her.
"Surely you know about the feud between the Martells and the Tyrells?" She smiled a little at the confused look on Arya's face. In truth, Sansa had not known anything about the feud either till Prince Oberyn had come to King's Landing and people had started to talk about the feud. That was an advantage of being thought of as stupid, people were willing to talk about just about such things in her hearing, not thinking that she understood what was being said. Thus they were willing to discuss the feud between the two houses, which appeared to mimic the feud between the Reach and Dorne that appeared to have lasted lasted for centuries or more. She brought her mind back to her conversation at hand.
"In any event, they really do not like one another. They are cooperating because they hate the Lannisters more than they hate one another. If the feud were to be reignited the Queen's position would be severely weakened."
"Why not just kill the Queen and be done with it?" Arya asked.
"Well," Sansa said; "That would result in problems of another kind.
"Consider a few things. If she were to die that would leave the Unsullied and the Dothraki here without a leader and loose in Westeros and I think we can agree that that is a bad thing." Arya nodded.
"In Bravos they talked about the Dothaki. They said that they were bloodthirsty, raping savages." Sansa nodded in turn.
"Then we can agree that having them loose in Westeros would be the source of much harm, possibly even to the North.
"No, if we want to defeat her we need to corrode her support from the Great Houses. If they abandon her then she will likely lose all support here. Even better, they may even turn on her. If we are lucky open war may break out among them. They might end up doing our work for us and deal with her themselves. But that is not the only matter at hand. There is also the matter of the Ironborn, who might actually be an asset to us."
"They're our enemies too though." Arya objected.
"They are, but I do not think that they are as great a threat as the Lannisters and the Queen. Their greatest strength is their ships and the King already beat them there before and he can do so again."
"Sister." Arya said in a slightly sarcastic tone of voice.
"You may not have noticed, but they just stole one of the dragons."
"Exactly, that can also be to our advantage. While her armies are formidable, it is the dragons for which she is known. They are the symbol of her house. To lose them is a great blow to her prestige if the Mother of Dragons cannot control those dragons she looks weak. Maester Luwin told us what happened to Targaryens when they lost their dragons.
"For that reason she will likely go after the Ironborn first in order to get her dragon back, the longer they have it the more likely that those around her will begin to doubt her.
"What do we do?" Arya asked.
"I am not entirely sure. We need to keep them and the Ironborn at each other's throats and figure out how to drive the allies apart. I need to think about how to do that." She looked at her sister.
"I cannot tell you how good it is to see you again, but for now I need you to keep out of sight." Arya gave a smile that Sansa did not quite like.
"Oh don't worry about that. I am quite good at not being seen. You could say I am no one, no one at all."
Author's Notes: Hey everyone, sorry that it has been so long since I updated? What did you think? Did I make Sansa too knowledgeable of politics? I did not want to make Arya seem dumb, as she isn't, but I do not think big-picture thinking is her specialty. I may have them lock horns but I think we can agree to avoid a Season Seven scenario as far as their relationship goes. Till next time please pray for the Vegas victims the victims of these hurricanes and all who need it. Bye and may Jesus bless you.
