Author's Notes: Hey everyone, sorry that it has been so long since I updated, stuff going on. Anyway, here we go, as always I own nothing, Martin and HBO does.

The journey north was conducted in a start-stop manner. Though there a number of knights and other soldiers in the group Brynden was still reluctant to engage any of the patrols which they saw. Any battle with Frey forces would result in loses which they could not afford and any wounded would slow them down. So they moved when they could and halted whenever any Frey came near, in this manner they were able to avoid most of them, though some battles were unavoidable. Whenever this happened her uncle drove them harder in an effort to get out of the area before the fighting brought more patrols. All the while the weather continued to worsen, a fact which both helped and hindered them. It hindered them as the cold and the snow slowed them down and left trails which even a poor tracker could follow. It helped them in that it hindered the Freys and their allies just as much as it hindered Sansa and her group and they seemed more and more reluctant to leave their castles to ride out into the snow.

They were also slowed by the fact that the majority of the group were on foot, Sansa being one of the minority on horseback. As Brynden was unwilling to spread the group out too greatly they were forced to travel at a slower pace. The only exception were the scouts sent out to scout ahead and patrol their flanks and rear. Sansa, now that she was eating somewhat regularly, was tempted to use her abilities to aid in these efforts, but she feared being seen and so she remained silent when the matters were being discussed. That did not; however, mean that she remained totally uninvolved. On the second day during a rest break she came up to her uncle and asked about the rout that they were taking. He squatted in the snow and bore a little hole in the snow and then drew a slightly squiggly line near it.

"This," he said as he pointed to the hole; "Is the Twins and this," indicating the line; "Is the King's Road. We are moving between them heading north."

"Wouldn't that lead us right into the Neck?" Sansa asked. Her father had always said that The Neck was impassible for an army, let alone a contingent like this.

"Indeed it does. I have sent men out with orders to go a little way into The Neck in an effort to make contact with House Reed, or any of the houses pledged to them. Prior to the Red Wedding your brother sent Lord Galbart Glover and Lady Maege Mormont to seek out Howland Reed to enlist his aid in combating the Ironborn invasion of the North. While your brother perished and I have had no word from Glover or Mormont I have heard that the men of The Neck have been launching harassing attack against the Ironmen holding Moat Cailin. Hopefully that means that the messengers reached them and they will be in a position to help us." There did not appear to be any more to be said on the subject and so they continued on.

Eventually, despite the worsening weather and terrain the eventually reached The Neck. The terrain changed, growing wetter and marshier. Men and horses trudged through icy mud and slush and Sansa began to worry about soon not being able to go farther and though he said nothing she knew that her uncle was also concerned. Then one morning two men appeared in their camp, slipping past the sentries to appear where Sansa was sleeping. As she wrapped the blanket around her and rose she took in their appearance.

They were short and slight of build and wore clothing of gray and green. They carried short spears and had knives thrust into their belts. As the camp became aware of them men crowded around them one of them advanced and bowed to Sansa.

"Lady Sansa Stark of Winterfell. Lord Howland Reed of Greywater Watch sends you his greetings. He has been expecting you."
