Mystic Guardians: Hero's From Two Worlds
By

Prologue
The Goddess Khala watches over her cherished Dhara, her vision spanning across the violet-hued skies and deep turquoise oceans streaked with purple. With a sense of trepidation heavy upon her celestial heart, she observes the creeping darkness spreading through the lands, the nefarious resurgence of the malevolent Jail Scaglietti.
"The laughter in Uminari city seems so distant..."
Brimming with the pure essence of the divine, the whispered lament of the Goddess echoes a midst the ancient trees that encircle her sacred ground. Her ethereal gaze, piercing through the veils of reality, focuses on Earth's Uminari City.
On a beautiful sunny day in Uminari City, three girls who have been friends since childhood make their way down a familiar path. Nanoha's downcast eyes betray a quiet longing as she listens to her fiery-spirited friend Arisa talk about an unexpected pop quiz at cram school. Nanoha's chestnut ponytail sways in sync with her steps, meanwhile Suzuka keeps pace, her serene presence a cool shadow to Arisa.
Arisa sneaks a glimpse out of the corner of her eye at Suzuka, her cheeky grin betraying the friendly dare in her eyes. "I've been practicing a new move. I bet you can't block it, Suzuka!"
Sadly, Suzuka's mind is elsewhere, lost in her storm of emotions, words that she longs to speak stay locked in her heart. Realizing that she was being spoken to, "I'm sorry what did you say Arisa?" Every time Suzuka looks or even thinks of Arisa, a warmth blooms in her chest.
Disappointed, "Nothing." Arisa's gaze darts away and then back towards Suzuka, something that she's been doing for far too long. If only she wasn't afraid of destroying their friendship by confessing her feelings.
Nanoha remained oblivious to the exchange next to her. Her thoughts wandered back to her dreams of sad burgundy eyes. Dreams that continue to haunt her as the sorrow in those eyes tug at her soul. She sighs out of frustration lifting her sapphire eyes to gaze up at the sky, were wisps of clouds drifting past with not a care in the world. The yearning in her heart - the desire to meet the owner of those beautiful eyes.
Around the corner was the dojo that Nanoha's family owns and runs. Her sister Miyuki is the current instructor. Miyuki had arranged for the three of them to be tested in black belt and Kendo. Something that requires their total focus, the one thing the three girls are lacking on this day.
Suzuka kept catching herself staring at Arisa again, so she turned her attention to the pebbled path beneath her feet. You see she harbored two secrets: the fact that she is in love with her best friend and an even deeper scarier secret, that if revealed could be devastating. The thought of revealing that secret sent a shiver down her spine despite her lineage as a vampire.
Arisa notices Suzuka seems to be a bit more quiet than she normally is. "Hey, you okay? You're a bit quieter than usual."
Suzuka offered a smile, tucking her worries away like she always did. "Yeah, just thinking about practice."
"They are vibrant with life..."
The Goddess gazes on with both sadness and hope that maybe, just maybe this time her divine powers are calling the right heroes.
Nanoha laughed at their exchange, "You two should spar today," She suggested with a mischievous twinkle in her eyes. "I think it would be quite the match."
Arisa looked over at Suzuka, wiggling her eyebrows up and down. "What do you say? Ready to take me on?"
Suzuka was about to respond, when the dojo doors slid open, revealing Miyuki standing tall with a devilish smile on her face.
"Welcome," She greeted them. "I hope you're ready."
The friends froze, exchanging bewildered looks before the realization dawned upon them that test day came without a warning and they were not ready for it.
Nanoha's mind drifted once more to those beautiful burgundy eyes - eyes she hopes to find one day in reality not just in dreams.
A brilliant bright light flashes around Nanoha, Arisa, and Suzuka leaving them blinded for a moment.
"A heart that seeks companionship..."
The Goddess' voice is a feather's touch upon the winds that dance across the city. Her divine sight falls upon Hayate—a solitary wanderer among labyrinthine bookshelves. The library's hushed sanctum cradles her silent quest for connection amidst a sea of strangers.
Khala's divine essence trembles with empathy for the lone figure that now gazes into the grand tapestry of the library, where the subtle play of light and shadow weaves tales of love and chivalry.
Hayate's fingers glide along the spines of books as she walks down the aisle. A particular book has caught her eye: the intricate weave on its spine, the title indicating that it's a knight's tale. Who will be my knight? The echo of a childhood memory, of a fleeting encounter, brings a soft smile to her lips at the thought of her first friend.
The notion of a knight in shining armor in this day and age is pure fantasy. She closes her eyes and envisions a tall figure emerging from the mists of her daydream, envisioning strength and kindness, a protective embrace, laughter, and passionate nights under the stars.
Sighing with the book in hand she turns around and looks around the seating area of the library from the balcony. As her eyes wander Hayate soon realizes that her gaze lingers on the girls and not the boys. Observing their grace and their laughter, the gentle curves of their smiles, and their other assets start to make her heart race and body tingle.
A revelation dawned on her: it wasn't just any knight she was longing for, she was wanting a beautiful one. Watching a pair of girls leaning close, she could see their hands under the table clasped out of sight of everyone. The warmth in her chest at seeing this created an epiphany unfurling in her mind like petals opening for the first time to the morning sun.
She is gay…
A slow smile crept across her face as she embraced this newfound piece of herself. A weight that she didn't even know was pressing on her shoulders has now been lifted. The emptiness inside seems less daunting - perhaps even possible to fill now.
With new possibilities and a spring in her step, Hayate tucked the book under her arm. Now she wasn't just searching for fantasy adventures: she was also keeping an eye out for that one girl who might be her princess charming - The one that could be both a friend and a lover.
Making her way to sign out the book Hayate is engulfed by a white light and the book falls to the floor with a thud.
"Their bonds are strong..."
The Goddess Khala glances to another world and contemplates the sisters' kinship—a fusion of strength and frailty, a duality woven into the very fabric of their beings.
Alicia securing her next handhold on her climb up the jagged ravine surface, looks over her shoulder to see where her sister is. Seeing her sister Fate falling behind she calls out to her.
"Keep up, Fate!" Alicia's voice is laced with a mix of encouragement and impatience. "I know you can do it, you've got this."
Fate, on the other hand, grappled with the rocks below her sister, her burgundy eyes fixed on the next handhold. The pressure to match her sister's prowess was a relentless force. Then there are her feelings of being an exact copy of her sister, right down to her DNA.
"I'm trying," Fate whispers.
"You're not just a copy of me," Alicia insisted. "You are your own person with your strengths and weaknesses."
Alicia's words are meant to empower Fate, not to keep reminding her that she is a mere copy of her older sister. Fate's inner turmoil, her struggle with identity, and the fear that she might never escape the harsh reality that she is just Alicia's clone.
Reaching the top of the ravine, their devices and familiars await them like silent sentinels. Alicia retrieved Tact, her bow glowing turquoise as she activated it with practice ease. She turned to watch her sister approach Bardiche, its golden aura pulsating in response to its Master's touch. The two familiars Rynith and Alph moved to the side to watch their masters spar.
Taking a moment to enjoy the cooler air at the summit, their reward for their exertion. Alicia had picked this place to be their new training ground, as the one back home was not enough of a challenge anymore. Plus, she loved the raw beauty from up here.
Alicia readied an arrow made of plasma between her fingers. "Let's see what you've got, little sister," She said with a smile and a spark in her eyes.
"Arcus, Cultus, Aegeas," Fate says, raising Bardiche. Lightning is summoned forth, crackling all around them.
"They look like twins but one is a copy of the other, both have great strength in their own ways…"
The Goddess sees the pain in both their hearts for each other, and the sisters not knowing what to do about it, fight on.
Beginning their practice, attacks, and counterattacks are made with grace and power. Fate allowed herself fleeting thoughts of sapphire blue eyes that haunted her dreams. Ever since she first started dreaming about them she's longed to find those eyes in reality - to meet someone who could see past the label of 'clone' and recognize the unique soul within. But who was she kidding, nobody would ever see past that.
Alicia can sense that Fate was distracted and said nothing. Instead, she pushed harder, forcing Fate to focus on her and their training.
Their dance of attack and counterattack grew ever faster and more desperate as time went on. Until both were too exhausted to go on. That's when they noticed that the sun was starting to set on the Midchilda forest that surrounded the plateau they were standing on. They paused for a moment, watching the two moons rising into the sky. Like the two moons, the sisters looked the same on the outside, but in reality, were different.
There has been a constant cool breeze, but it stopped with an unusual suddenness and then a flash of bright light surrounded all four of them.
"To stand against evil, one must become a vessel of strength and courage..."
A dimension swath in clouds and a shimmering light, six girls materialized, each one caught in a whirlwind of confusion.
Nanoha's gaze swept the celestial expanse, a mixture of wonder and disbelief on her face. Arisa and Suzuka cling to each other, their eyes wide as they look around at their surroundings. Hayate looks around in wonderment. Alicia stood poised and alert, while Fate's eyes darted around, looking for answers.
Then it happened, sapphire met burgundy, and a silent understanding passed between them, a recognition shared through dreams. It was as if they had known each other for lifetimes.
Hayate's gaze drifted around the group until it landed on someone who looked familiar, but older. Could it be her? The girl that she had met in the library when she had been confined to the wheelchair. Her first and only friend, who had suddenly disappeared from her life.
A majestic and radiant figure emerged from the light - a woman of divine beauty and presence. "I am Khala," She said with a voice that resounded with power. her gaze swept across them, gentle but piercing. "And I need your help."
Khala's voice wove through a tale of the rise of power of a malevolent evil, his cyborg legion and the monstrous army's he has power over. Her words captivated the six young women. The four from Earth were spellbound by the thoughts of magic, and the two from Midchilda weighed the responsibilities that lay before them.
"I sent out for the strongest mages," Khala continued, "And you are what came to me."
Nanoha protested, "Magic is not within our abilities. The world we come from doesn't have magic."
Undeterred, Khala was unyielding in her conviction; they were chosen for this battle. "Everyone on Dhara has the ability for magic even if you are from a world that does not have any."
With a wave of her hand, she showed them the desolation that he had caused in the short time of his reawakening, and then she showed them what the future would look like under his tyrannical rule. "If he is not stopped here he will find a way to go to other planets and destroy them too. Perhaps even your home world."
Overwhelmed with that thought, the girls nodded in agreement to aid the goddess in her fight against this evil. "I will give you gear that is simple yet sturdy attire fit for unknown challenges ahead, bags with some supplies, and money pouches heavy with coins to ease your journey. Those of you that don't have weapons I give you swords until you find the weapons that are right for you."
With a wave of her hand and an incantation that stirred the air itself, the goddess dispatched them to the planet, a planet unlike any they had known. as they disappeared into flashes of light destined for different corners of this new world, the goddess harbored an unspoken truth - one that she kept close to her heart. With a heavy heart knowing she had to do this once more.
"Their path is challenging, filled with trepidation and resolve..."
Khala watches, omnipotent yet constrained by love, as six erstwhile strangers will become Mystic Guardians.
Nanoha, Arisa, and Suzuka find themselves in the middle of a forest teaming with life that is foreign to them. Birds with plumage in a kaleidoscope of colors flint between trees. The plants are just as colorful, but nothing like on Earth.
On the side of a mountain in ankle-deep snow, Alicia and Fate find themselves amidst howling winds. The environment around them is harsh yet breathtakingly beautiful. Looking around they take stock of their surroundings.
Hayate stood alone in the wastelands, amidst dead trees and rocks that whispered tales of desolation and death. It was a land that echoed her deepest fears: Solitude Without End.
"I empower them with strength, but within their hearts lies the true potential for greatness..."
Now hindered by distance, how will they be able to find each other? The goddess weaves a tapestry of fate where each thread, distinct and vibrant, weaves the legend of tomorrow.
