Zane goes down to find Pixal in the lair.
"Pixal, today is Mother's day. The others have all left to spend time with their mothers."
"Mmhm." Says Pixal while continuing to work on something.
"You are like me." Continues Zane, "Dr Julien was my father, and Cyrus Borg is yours, but we don't have mothers. Do you think there is something special about having a mother?"
Pixal puts down what she is working on. "You are correct, I do not have a mother. However since I have been making my own creations, I am a mother of sorts. There is something special about that bond you share with life you create, but I am not yet sure how it differs to a bond with a father."
Zane thinks over her words as she goes back to welding. "What are you working on?" He asks.
"Since it is mother's day I am performing some maintenance on minipix 7. She wanted to spend time with me." Says Pixal. Minipix 7 chirps enthusiastically.
"I have interrupted." Says Zane. "I will leave you to enjoy your mother's day."
Pixal comes over and gives him a quick kiss on the cheek before he leaves. "thanks Zane." She says before going back to minipix 7.
Zane walks through the rest of the strangely empty monestary going past a quiet courtyard full of unused training equipment. The game room with TV switched off, controllers lying on the floor. An empty dining table with cookie trays in the sink. He then finds himself in front of Wu's room.
"Master, may I enter?" He asks.
"Of course." Comes Wu's husky reply.
Wu had been meditating, Zane enters and sits opposite him.
"Zane, is something on your mind?" Asks Wu.
"Yes master." Says Zane. "You have spoken to us many times of your childhood, of you brother Garmadon, and of your father the first spinjitsu master, but, did you have a mother?"
Wu chuckles warmly. "Of course I had a mother." Says Wu. "I had to come from somewhere."
"But you never speak of her." Says Zane.
"When I tell stories of my family, it is normally regarding warnings about dangerous magic, or artefacts relating to problems that the team is facing. My mother was just an ordinary human, so I have had no need to speak of her."
"What was her name?" Asks Zane.
"Names weren't as important back then." Says Wu, "to me she was always just mum."
"What is it like, having a mother?" Asks Zane.
"Hmm." Wu thinks it over. "It's like a warm hug, someone to care for you, and help you to grow."
"Do you think I am missing out, by not having a mother?" Asks Zane.
"You had a father who loved you dearly," says Wu, "and now you have friends and others who care about you just as much. A found family. Isn't that enough?"
Zane pauses to think. "Yes, I think it is." Says Zane. "Thank you master, I appreciate your wisdom."
"Any time Zane." Says master Wu as Zane leaves the room.
