Chapter 21: What's Up Danger, It's Your Girl.

"When do I know I'm ready?"

"You don't. That's all it is, Miles. A leap of faith."

Peter Parker to Miles Morales - Spiderman: Into the Spider-Verse (2018)

I walked up to Leo and Calypso's room and knocked on their door. It was pretty late and I woke up in the middle of the night. But I was determined to give my answer to them.

Leo opens the door, grumbling from waking up.

"Estelle? It's late, what are you-"

"You're right," I replied. "It's a dangerous life. Many kids have to go through with it just to survive. Maybe it is fate. But I'm not bound by fate. I'm not destined to have this power, it was given by luck and bad timing."

Leo sigh, "That's not how it wo-"

"That doesn't matter! What matters in the end was that I was given this power. Not Percy; not you; not Annabeth! Me! It's my life, it's my choice! And I CHOOSE to be a part of this! I choose to keep these powers so that I can take on whatever comes after me, my friends AND my family! And if you and Percy and everyone want to stop, go ahead and try! But that won't stop me from facing evil head on!"

I panted after telling Leo my answer.

"Estelle-"

"Leonidas…" Calypso replied behind him.

Leo looked back and looked at his wife. The two seem to have a silent conversation with their eyes, as if they know what the other is thinking. Makes sense considering that they have been married for a while now. They had their silent conversation for a moment until Leo sighs and looks back at me.

"Get some rest, Estelle."

I frowned, "But Leo, I-"

"I'm serious," He replied. "Your training starts early in the morning."

I don't know what Calypso said to Leo, but it convinced him to help me. I followed him after we woke up in the morning to the garage.

"Talos!" Leo yelled.

Suddenly, the room lit up and a voice spoke.

"[YES SIR?]" The room spoke.

"I'm heading into the basement, you and Buford are in charge of the garage in the meantime."

"[UNDERSTOOD. I SHALL ACTIVATE YOUR ACTIVATE THE HOLOGRAM AND CARRY ON YOUR BUSINESS]."

Suddenly, green mist was spreading in the room and started forming an identical twin of Leo. Before I could ask a question, something hit me from behind. I turned around and saw a moving table.

"Buford, you're going to help watch over the garage while I'm busy, okay?"

The table jumped in agreement.

Leo told me to follow him as a tool shelf split open to reveal an elevator. As we entered, I asked Leo, "What is Talos? And Buford?"

"Buford is this magical table that tends to help me out in the garage, he helped us with our quest to stop Gaia back then. He's a little mischievous but he means well. As for Talos, well, I made him."

"What is he?" I asked.

"Talking Automated Lethal Operating System. Or TALOS for short. He's our automated security system to help prevent monsters from attacking our home. I'm hoping to make more models of him for the Camps and Kane's School so that it can be more safe. Though, it's still hard to make working AI's without it going psychotic."

"Huh?" I said.

"Don't worry about it. For now I need to help get you ready."

"Ready for what?"

"We have about seven days before Typhon's plan comes to fruition. So, I'm going to help you train."

The elevator opened and revealed a large empty room. It was large enough to be a huge storage room.

"Talos, activate protocol Hotel Duo Oscar ."

"[UNDERSTOOD]"

The room started bringing in a green mist in the room.

"What is this place?" I asked.

"This is the training room. I built it under the garage so that whenever other campers, sorcerers or einherjar come, they can train on their new weapons or practice with their skills and talents."

"And that's why I'm here, isn't it?" I said. "Then what's Protocol Hotel Duo Oscar?"

"It's an acronym. HOO."

"Meaning?"

"...Heroes of Olympus."

I snickered at the name as I watched the mist form humanized forms. Seven in total. And I recognized most of them.

"Are those…?"

"Yeah, Percy and everyone around your age. It was when we set off to Greece to face the Giants. When we had to stop Gaia."

The mist formed into several recognizable green figures. Percy; Annabeth; Frank; Hazel; Leo and two I don't recognize. I believe they were Piper McLean and Jason Grace.

"Wait, you expected me to fight you guys when you were around my age?! With little to no training?! That's impossible!"

"So is facing Typhon, who has beaten Poseidon in his domain, on your own. If you want to be a part of this, you have to beat us in our best."

Leo hit a switch on the side and it opened a small cabinet filled with weapons.

"You want me to beat you guys, who defeated Gaia; The Giants and the Titans, in less than seven days?"

Leo nodded, "That's right. That's my only condition if you want to be a part of this, Estelle. If you can beat us…" He handed me a sword that was similar to that of Percy's. "Then you can beat anything."

What's Up Danger - Blackway & Black Caviar (Soundtrack to Spiderman - Into the Spiderverse. 2018)

You know, if you told me a week ago that I was going to beat up my brother and his friends, I'd call you crazy. Crazy if you think I can do it in a day. The first day was nothing but brutal. As soon as I tried to throw the first punch, Dummy-Percy tripped me and made me fall flat on my face. Since then, it's been one embarrassment after another. Despite that, I kept going. I kept getting back up and kept pushing.

Leo is monitoring me as I try to go up against the clones. Everytime I fail, he restarts the simulation and tells me to try again.

And again…

…And again…

…And again.

It's been like this for about three days. Luckily, the clones don't actually harm me (lethally). But once they get that one kill, they freeze and start over.

"How are you guys this good?!" I said, panting from the last run.

"We had to adapt, learn and fight every day. The end of the world was coming and we had to be ready for anything. Percy once stopped an unbeatable swordsman by talking his way out."

"Are we sure he's not Joseph Joestar?! The more I learn about him, the more it's a possibility."

Leo snickered. "You're different, Estelle. You're not Percy," He said.

I frowned, "Thanks, Captain Obvious."

He smirked, "That's Captain Supersize Mcshizzle to you, young lady. And that's not what I meant."

He restarted the simulation.

"I'm saying that you don't need to fight like he does. Nor Annabeth, nor anyone. Do it your way. Now, again…"

Training is hard.

But, unlike Peter Parker, I have help.

"See that? Use your strength and agility to your advantage. Don't just rely on your Spider-sense all the time. There may come a time when you can't rely on it."

Sam is watching previous Spider-Man movies and giving me advice on how to use them to my advantage. We even went to grab a PlayStation 5 with Spiderman 2 to give me ideas and inspiration.

"But Sam, I'm not like them. I wasn't bitten by a radioactive spider, nor am I a science genius like them."

Sam rolls her eyes.

"Of course not. But not every Spider-Man was smart. Some worked hard to get to where they are now. Listen, you may not have science on your side. But you have one thing that makes you just as good as the others. Heck, maybe even more than even Percy and the others."

"And that is?" I asked.

"Determination."

Thanks to that, on the third day, I improved. I was able to stand and fight a little longer than usual. I used the skill Annabeth taught me while learning how my powers work.

Turns out that Magic is both simple and complex. While science relies on logic, magic doesn't. It relies on a variety of things.

Emotion.

Spirit.

Will.

Even the surrounding atmosphere. It all lies on both the world around and within. So when I shot my first webs at the clones, I noticed that it was more durable and lasted longer than my fight with Typhon and his gang.

"It's probably because after your argument with Percy, your emotion was going crazy. Therefore, you couldn't use your powers properly," Calypso explained.

As I was trying to beat the clones, Calypso came by to heal up some of my bruises and keep me well fed and healthy by bringing food and drinks. Though, thanks to the curse, my body is actually stronger (probably not as stronger as battle hardened demigods) than a normal human.

"But now that I'm more resolved, it's improving?"

"That's right, magic can be complicated. But it's also unique. Hazel can use it to control the mist and summon curse jewels. I can use it to weave magical clothing and see the past. Leo can burst into flames and the list goes on."

"And now he thinks he's hot," I said, jokingly.

Calypso laughs, "Even if hell freezes, he'll never be hot."

I smirked at her, "Yet you married him."

Calypso rolled her eyes and continued, "What I'm trying to say Estelle, is that what you have might have been a curse at first. But you don't see it as a curse, you see it as a gift and you want to use it to help others. And that's why I know you'll do great things with it."

On the fourth and fifth day, I was really improving. I was able to take out at least three of them before the other four took me down. The ones I struggle with the most are usually Jason, Percy, Annabeth and Frank. Jason, Percy and Annabeth I can understand. But Frank is quite difficult. He can shapeshift into almost any animal, and this was before he can learn to shapeshift into monsters. It's difficult because he can change form to escape my webs. I have to find a way to counteract his abilities. Piper, Leo and Hazel were still difficult to fight. Piper had to keep moving to stop her from using her charmspeak; Leo manages to burn away my webs before I can stop him from using his tools and gadgets and Hazel manages to use the mist to her advantage and trick me. But thanks to my spider-sense, I was able to maneuver through the mist; I was able to understand more on how my web magic works and used it to my advantage against Leo and Piper.

As for Jason, Percy and Annabeth… that's another story. Jason and Percy were sons of the big three and are already deemed the strongest in the group. But they weren't the issue. The issue is Annabeth. She seemed to predict my movements and ordered Percy to attack me. Jason was no different either, especially since he can fly and shoot lightning. Because of that, my webs just keep getting blasted. And on top of that, his strategy thinking is on par with Annabeth.

Fighting these three is nearly impossible. And to top it off that, they also tend to save the others to keep me off balance.

Fighting all seven of them was like fighting every dark soul boss with only starter gears and at the beginning of the game. It's nearly impossible, but, it can be done. Why? Because Sam actually did in Dark Souls 3. She somehow modified it because she thought the base game was "too easy".

…She scares me sometimes.

But anyways, during my training, I had to learn to swing with my webs quickly in order to avoid Jason's attacks. Thanks to those practices in Brooklyn, I was improving on maneuvering. But I was still struggling on keeping a cool head, thus making the webs snap sometimes. When I told Calypso about this, she gave me some advice.

"So the webs are made from magic that is bound by your spiritual will, right?" She said, "Perhaps do some visualizing on the webs."

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Think of the webs not as just webs themselves. Think of them as… threads of fates. As if every thread you shoot is a choice you decided. When those threads hit their marks, you grab on to your fate… your choice, and never let go."

On the sixth day… I did it…

Panting, bruised up and all worn out, Leo, Calypso and Sam saw me in amazement as I got up.

"How's that?" I said, tiredly.

Leo grinned and laughed, "Oh yeah, I think you're more than ready to take on the king of monsters."

Sam joked and said, "But she ain't fighting Godzilla."

Later, Calypso patched me up and I met up with Leo on battle plans.

"Since we only have one more day left before Typhon plans come to fruition, he will most likely come out of the shadows and begin the ritual to invade Olympus," Leo said.

"So how are we going to find him and Percy?" I asked.

"Same way Annabeth is, through his phone."

"Wait what?"

Leo explained that the phones that the demigods use tracking devices in case they go missing or are in grave danger.

"And you made that, why?" I asked.

"So that demigods can find each other."

"And Calypso and Zoe have one too?" I asked.

"Calypso does, not Zoe. She's still too young for a phone. But her backpack has a little keychain just in case."

I want to say that I have concerns, but demigods do have it worse than normal people. I can't really blame him for wanting to protect everyone. Just as long as he's being respectful to others' private life.

"Anyways," Leo continues. "You can track him down using his phone. The others may be there as well, along with Typhon's goons. You're gonna need to be prepared."

"So I'm going to need to bring some weapons and armor, right?"

"Actually…" Leo and I turned around and saw Calypso and Sam bringing some blueprints. "I had some ideas."

Sam put down a blueprint and showed me some sketches.

Leo was amazed.

"You made these?"

Sam nodded. "The moment we found out that Stella has spider powers, my mind went racing with ideas. And after seeing what you and Mrs. Valdez can do, I thought it was possible."

I frowned, "You expect me to wear this? This is real life, not some fantasy world."

I instantly regretted what I said.

Still, the design wasn't that bad. After all, I got the power of a spider.

Might as well go all in.

Next day, everything was ready. My training was complete, the suit was finished in one day and Percy's location was finally revealed. Though the only issue now is how to get there quickly. "Haven't seen Tempest," I said. "So I probably will need to swing there."

"Nah, don't worry. We'll give you a ride."

"We?" I said. We all headed out in the back yard and I was shocked at what I saw. A giant bronze mechanical dragon was just chilling. "You have a mechanical dragon?! In your backyard?!" Sam said.

"Yeah, his name is Festus."

Festus squeaked as he was happy for the attention. Sam and I had so many questions, but it will have to wait. Since Sam is still injured, she's staying with Calypso and Zoe. Leo and I will be heading to Manhattan, but I will be heading off to save Percy while Leo will head to Olympus to warn the gods of Typhon.

"Are you sure they're going to be okay?" I asked Leo, referring to Calypso and Zoe.

"Of course, It's the safest place on Earth."

"Because of TALOS?"

Leo smirked, "No, my wife."

As we were reaching The Empire State Building. I was getting ready to jump off.

"Any last advice for me, Leo?"

"Not really, I was going to say good luck. But I don't think you'll need it."

I smiled, "Of course not, I got the best family in the world."

I jumped off and pressed a button on my new watch.

This watch was made by Leo. Like how Percy has his magical pen or when Leo has his magical toolbelt. The watch is a magical item that activates when I press the button on it. Once it activated, it started summoning the suit that Valdez made for me.

I still find it funny how it's designed, but it seems like it was fate.

After all, my best friend is a huge Spider-man fan.

The suit had a similar style as that of Peter Parker's suit, but had the hood of Gwen Stacy's and a logo on the torso similar to Miles Morales'. The only difference is that the color of the suit is Black with Orange web-lines, same goes for Spider Logo being orange as well. Another thing is that the suit also has armor appearances on it. Not too thick so it can be flexible but enough to give some protection. There were shoulder pads, shin guards and bracers that are attached to the suit and colored orange.

It may not be as simple as Peter's, but it was definitely a style I like. Plus it was all weaved together with Celestial Bronze and Imperial Gold, which I was told is very effective in the myth world.

As I fell down, I took a deep breath and recalled the advice Calypso gave me.

When those threads hit their marks, you grab on to your fate… your choice, and never let go.

I recall everything that has happened in these past two weeks. From being chased by a psychotic bird-lady to fighting a mortal god of monsters. I fired my web shooter to the nearest building. As it hits its mark, I grab hold tight and never let go.

At that moment… I wasn't Estelle Blofis anymore.

I wasn't a simple teenage girl.

Nor was I the sister of Percy Jackson.

I was me. New York's Friendly Neighborhood, Spider-Girl.

Author's Note:

I hope you like it. I tried really hard how these two chapters were gonna go and took me a while to figure it out. I'm sure you got a lot questions and want to know some stuff. So let me explain.

I made Leo build all this stuff because I feel like he'd use his past mistakes and traumas so that he can help people like him. He's not just a simple mechanic, after all. Plus, sometime I like to think that in some ways, he's like Tony Stark. Just wanting to build a brighter tomorrow, you know?

As for Estelle's training... I'm sure not many think it's impossible to beat the seven demigods. You're probably right. But that's why I chose that instead. Fighting monsters are difficult enough as it is. But fighting the most powerful demigods in the world? That's suicide. Which is why Leo chose to do that instead. If Estelle can find a way to even survive fighting against the Seven, then she can survive almost anything. So it surprises him that she actually beat them. She's not just Percy's sister after all.

And for the suit, I wanted to make something unique yet similar to Spiderman's. I wish I can make a good sketch for it, but for now this'll do. I also want it to be an original idea too so that it shows some love to both fanbases.

Thank you all for reading my story. We got about 9 more chapters to go before we finish this. I'm going to try to finish them as quickly as possible. And do expect some bonus chapters too, like after-credits.

Until next update.
