Chapter 22: Even Heroes Need Saving Too. And Some Parts I Wasn't There For...

Okay…

I got to admit, swinging across the city is the best thing you can ever do. Sure driving is great; but here in New York? Swinging is your go-to for transportation. As I swung across the city, I stopped by a building to check up on my phone for Percy's location.

What? You expect to swing and text immediately after I get the hang of swinging?

I checked my phone and found Percy's signal.

Seems like Typhon is finally making his move. In case you are confused and why he waited this long. I'll show you.

During my training, whenever I rest up, Arachne would come to my dreams and convince me to give up.

"You won't save him," She says. "You will fail, Estelle. Why can't you see it?"

"You can't stop me, Arachne. And beside, you're dead. How are you going to stop me?"

Arachne growled in anger.

"Fine, if you don't believe me. Let me show you." She snapped her fingers and the whole area shifted. It was dark and wet, but I could also see a railway on the ground. I knew then that I was in the Subway tunnels, but I didn't know why I was here.

I heard some movement behind and I saw Typhon with Vulture and The Minotaur who was carrying Percy as hostage.

"You're going to lose, Typhon," Percy said. "By now, my wife probably made plans to stop you and your goons."

The Minotaur punched Percy in the face to shut him up.

"Silence," Vulture replied. "We are aware of your wife's intelligence. In fact, we are counting on it."

Typhon turns around and speaks to Percy.

"I know everything about you and your friends. After all, you were the one who freed me from my prison. It's the very reason you're still alive, Perseus. However…" He looked at his children and smirked. "I believe my children do deserve some… retribution for all the abuse that was given from your kind."

The Minotaur slams Percy to a wall and then everything fades to black.

But I can still hear the growls from the monsters.

And the painful grunts from Percy…

These past seven days, he was enduring so much pain. And he did all that because he wanted to protect us. His friends. His family.

Always being the hero.

Now it's his turn to be saved.

Meanwhile, Annabeth, Hazel and Frank are scouting an abandoned warehouse. Of course, the warehouse wasn't really abandoned. It's surrounded by arm thugs, most likely humans paid by Scorpion. Frank went out as a bird to get a good view on what's going inside and how many men there are. As he returned, he reported.

"What's it like in there, Frank?" Annabeth asked.

"There's no men inside but all of them are humans. No sign of any monsters at all."

"They're most likely getting ready to attack Olympus, leaving only mortals to guard Percy and Typhon."

"Considering that Typhon has a magic that's able to weaken demigods, he most likely won't need protection and ordered his children to prepare," Hazel added. "I can use my magic to sneak us in."

"But, we could be walking into a trap," Annabeth said. She ponders as she makes a plan. "Okay, here's the plan…"

As you know, Typhon was on the move underneath Manhattan. But how was he able to avoid Annabeth and everyone for nearly seven days? Calypso told me that a while back, there's a labyrinth that is underneath the world. Apparently it's THE Daedalus Labyrinth and Typhon has been using it to avoid confrontation. But why would he? He has the power to stand up against gods and demigods. Why would he need to hide? Calypso theorized that the gods will most likely stay in Olympus and wait for Typhon to emerge so that they can get the jump on him and just blast him from afar. This is why Leo went to Olympus, he needed to warn them that Typhon will strike soon and that they need to prepare for battle. Of course, Annabeth already warned them beforehand, but from what they told me, they may be overconfident on their own abilities.

Omnipotent Gods being Omnipotent Gods. I would say they're like Beerus the Destroyer from Dragon Ball. But that's too much praise.

Anyways, as Leo heads off to Olympus and me heading towards Percy's location, Annabeth begins her plan.

As men were guarding the complex, the trio sneakily walked toward the warehouse while Hazel was using the mist to hide their presence. They did however grab some of the goons equipment and clothing to lessen their detection.

"We're almost there," Annabeth informed. "Hang in there, Hazel."

"I'm hanging in there, Annabeth. Don't worry."

As the trio arrived at the warehouse and entered, they managed to see Percy, tied up and chained at the center of what appeared to be a magic circle. Imagine every Isekai-Anime you ever watched where the main character was summoned by a magic ritual. It kind of looks like that. However, the symbols and glyphs used for nothing used from the Ancient Greek glyphs. I don't think Annabeth knows where they come from. Probably from that Cult they mentioned before. If so, what do they have to do with Typhon? Questions for later. Main concern is Percy.

"Percy?" Annabeth whispered, hoping that he heard her.

He groans, which confirms that he's still breathing.

The gang ran toward Percy and tried to cut him loose.

"Hang on, Seaweed Brain. We got you."

"...Anna…beth?" He said. "Wait… don't… it's-"

Suddenly, monsters appeared and surrounded the gang. Vulture flies down as the Minotaur approaches behind Percy.

"We've been expecting you, Annabeth Chase," Vulture replied.

"It's Jackson! And where's Typhon?!" Annabeth asked.

Suddenly, Typhon approached from the shadows and was clapping.

"As expected of you, Daughter of Athena. We know full well that you would come after me, hoping to save Percy. But you're too late."

As Typhon approaches Percy, he punches him in the face, making his nose bleed on top of the glyph. As the blood reaches the ground, the glyph starts to glow.

"Ugh… Not again…" Percy said.

"But you're too late, Olympus is unguarded now. My children will bring down the Gods and we will have our revenge."

Annabeth notices that Typhon is wearing the bracers that can weaken the gods or those with god blood within them. For some reason, Typhon isn't using it at this moment. She deducts two possibilities: Either he was confident that Vulture and her gang will stop them easily or the bracers have a limited amount to be used before it breaks.

If it was the latter… well that's just lazy writing.

"Scorpion! The Trident, please."

Scorpion walked forward with the Trident in his hands. He gave it to Typhon as he prepared the ritual.

"You won't win, Typhon!" Hazel yelled. "Olympus has already been warned. Even if you managed to destroy the barrier, your army won't stand a chance."

"As long as I have these tools, even in my weakened state I will have my vengeance."

He placed the Trident at the Glyph and it started flashing. It started to fire a beam of light up towards the ceiling, most likely hitting the sky itself. Thunder and rumbles were outside, indicating that the magic is most likely doing its job.

"Even if Olympus is prepared, my children will occupy their forces. That leaves the Gods on their own. Which means, there's no one who can stop me."

Typhon faced Percy.

"Do not be so afraid, Perseus Jackson."

While Percy was bleeding on the nose, he had an anxious expression on his face. Mostly concerned on how he's going to get out of this situation. He was beaten pretty badly these last few days. The only reason he's alive now is because they needed him alive to finish the magic ritual. But now that it's done, they have no use for him.

"So what? You're going to kill us now? Don't forget, you swore on the river styx."

"True, I also did not forget that it was you who freed me from my prison. And for that, I am indebted to you."

"Oh? Then how about you let me go and leave Olympus alone and we can call it even?"

Typhon sighs, "Unfortunately, I can not. I will, however, leave your friends and your camp alone. I did make a promise and I am indebted to you."

He faces Vulture and Minotaur.

"He's all yours, now. Scorpion will accompany me to Olympus."

"Wait! You promised!"

"I did. I promised that my children and I won't hurt your friends. I never said anything about you."

And with that, Typhon leaves with Scorpion before he orders his troops to deal with Percy and his friends.

Of course, Vulture and Minotaur - You know what? He should have a name. We know he's THE Minotaur. But shouldn't he have a name? Like Chuck or Barry or… I don't know what we can call him. Or something cool like Vulture and Scorpion. I mean I can't be the only one, right? What do you guys think? Oops, I'm getting off track. Let's get back to the story.

As the Scorpion men were about to aim, Annabeth yelled, "Now!"

Hazel snapped her finger and Frank suddenly disappeared. Then a hawk flew by and it transformed into a giant dragon, scaring off some of the men as well as knocking a few out. During this distraction, Annabeth threw a knife at one of the chains holding Percy, cutting the chain off so that Percy can move one of his arms. He searched his pocket and uncapped his pen, turning into a sword and used to cut himself free. Hazel summons a giant fissure on the ground and makes several of the men fall in and entrapped. Annabeth used her martial arts skill and took out a few men as well as disarmed them. While Annabeth may not have any superpowers like the others, she's capable of handling tough situations herself.

Vulture and the Minotaur charges forward. Vulture swoops in to grab Annabeth but Percy jumps in. Minotaur charges but Frank transforms into a monster himself and stops him. The situation grows dire. Not only are Percy and the gang surrounded with both monsters and mortal men with guns; but there's more outside of the warehouse. Even if they beat the ones inside, they still gotta deal with the ones outside. And then there's the glyphs that can break through the barrier of Olympus which allows Typhon and his children to invade it.

In short, it's going to be a long, rough day.

Vulture threw Percy at a crate that was left behind in the warehouse.

"Percy!" Annabeth yelled. She tried to reach out to him but she's occupied dealing with the thugs.

The Harpy flies down and has her claws up to attack Percy. He dodged it and attempted to slice her, but she reacted quickly and kicked him. Percy was on his own and was still bruised up. Frank and Hazel can't help either because they're dealing with the armed thugs and the Minotaur. Vulture binds Percy's arm with her claws so that he can't attack.

"Time to die, Son of Poseidon."

The Vulture uses her free claws to put the finishing strike.

Percy awaits his inevitable demise.

But it never happened.

Before the Vulture could make the finishing blow, she stopped. Or more specifically, something stopped her. Percy looks at her claws and notices a web thread from the ceiling.

"What the-?" Before Vulture could finish, she was dragged up in the air, hanging upside down. Percy was confused until he heard a thwip sound coming from the ceiling. Next thing they knew, thugs were getting disarmed from webs; the Minotaur was getting blind by web shot and the gate doors were being blocked from webs to prevent anymore from coming in.

"Oh good, I made it!"

And guess who arrives at the scene.

"Sorry I'm late, everyone. I'm still getting my web-swinging licenses."

Everyone looked up and saw me, wearing an original yet iconic take of everyone's favorite superhero.

"Estelle?!" Annabeth said.

"Nope, just your Friendly Neighborhood, Spider-Girl."

Author's Note:

Next Chapter will arrive before the end of this month, hopefully... it kind of depends on both me and my friend's schedule. Reality waits for no one sadly. Hope you enjoy. Until the Next update.
