The rest of the battles pass uneventfully and quickly.

But now it's Hanada-chan's turn.

I'm both intrigued and worried about how this will turn out. And it seems like I'm not the only one. As I sit in the chair that Hanada-chan was sitting in earlier, I notice that the other kids are staring at the screens intently with unanimous expressions of concern.

I look at the screens and wait in anxiety.

While Sensei is standing outside the building, Hanada-chan is taking her sweet time walking through the hallways of the building. Calmly. Leisurely. As if she's not about to battle against the top hero of Japan but instead taking a tour in an art exhibition. With one hand on her cane and the other resting on her hip, she looks all around. Left, right, up, down. But my eye catches on something. With the hand resting on her hip, she traces unidentifiable shapes and curves on her hip. She continues this pattern until she reaches the top floor, where the artificial nuclear weapon is placed. She levitates the weapon and tries to carry it through the door leading to the lower floors, but the weapon is too big to pass through. That's actually a clever move. Based on the previous battles, All Might would assume that the weapon would be on the top floor. But if the weapon could be carried through the door, then you could put it somewhere else. Somewhere that would catch All Might off guard.

Then, the screens darken in brightness. She's using her shadow quirk to dim the lights. Another smart move. It takes more concentration to see what she does next. With the weapon still levitating, she places it in a corner of the room. With those same shadows, she cloaks the weapon in darkness. She then proceeds to walk around the room, tracing those same symbols from before. After she's finished her rounds, she summons a flat boulder of rock in the middle of the room and just … rests. She leans back on her elbows and crosses her legs. She pulls out a thermos bottle from within her trench coat and starts … drinking.

I'm utterly confused. Hanada-chan, what are you doing? You're in a trial of battle, not at the park having a picnic. Don't take this so casually!

The kids around start murmuring.

"Huh? Who does she think she is?"

"That's so anticlimactic."

"I thought she was going to do something awesome. Some kind of special move."

"I can't decide if what she's doing is manly or unmanly."

"She's fighting against All Might-sensei. Shouldn't she be more cautious?"

"She's being arrogant and cocky."

After some time of drinking, Hanada-chan lifts her left wrist. I remember that's where she put her watch. She looks at it for a few seconds and closes her bottle. She tucks the bottle back in her trench coat and vanishes the boulder. Finally, she cloaks herself in those shadows.

Not to my surprise, Sensei smashes through the window of the top floor. But he seems shocked when he observes his surroundings. It's all black now. Some time from when she hid and from when Sensei made his entry, she sucked all the light from the room, leaving a black void.

Sensei is impressed. "Very smart, young Hanada. I never expected this." He takes a step forward, and immediately he is electrocuted by small lightning bolts. The flashes from those white and blue bolts reveal glimpses of thunderclouds all around the perimeter of the room.

I'm stunned by the sheer cleverness of that, and so are the others.

"Woah! I did not see that coming. … Pun intended."

"I thought she was being foolish all this time. But now, … I underestimated her."

"Does she think she's some sort of genius or something?"

"Is Sensei alright?"

"How did she do that? I didn't see her using any quirk besides the shadow one."

But I know how she did that. I finally understand what all that tracing was. She was using her quirk. The different parts of her quirk. She had set traps on the lower floors and on the upper floor to trap Sensei, so that regardless of where he infiltrated the building, he would be attacked. The ingeniousness of that plan … I'm in utter awe.

All Might-sensei stumbles out from the lightning trap, only to enter another one. He takes just one step, and he is engulfed by a wall of flames. Blue flames. Blue flames … In another step, a barrier of one-meter-tall metal spikes protrude from the ground, popping in and out at random intervals. One more step and he is barraged by hail and freezing rain. All the while, the other traps are not disabled and remain in their concentric rectangle shapes. Sensei takes one last step. He's at the center of the room. Tree roots come up from the ground and ceiling and bind themselves around his arms, legs, and torso. He struggles to release himself from them.

But he unleashes his quirk and breaks free from the roots. Understanding that the weapon is not in the center of the room, he dashes to the corners with superspeed. But to my surprise, the weapon isn't in any of the corners of the room. I swear Hanada-chan put the weapon in the corner. Unless she moved it while Sensei was distracted by the traps …

Sure enough, that seems to be the case. This time, Sensei runs all around the perimeter of the room, but it's nowhere to be found. Sensei seems utterly confused. "All right, young Hanada. You've proven that you're a genius student. Your IQ must be 200 at minimum. Never in my career have I encountered such an intelligent villain." He looks in all directions, trying to avoid the traps. He ends back up in the center again, and he collides with something. It must be the weapon! All Might wraps both hands around the object.

All of a sudden, the traps are disabled and the shadows vanish. No lightning, no fire, no metal spikes, no hail, no freezing rain, no tree roots. The room is filled with light. It looks just as it did before. I can't even see the signs of those traps. It's as if everything vanished. And just standing by the broken window is Hanada-chan. She's leaning in a similar position from earlier today, arms crossed, one leg bent and resting on the wall, the other one straight and resting on the floor. She cocks her head and smirks, "You win, Sensei. You found the weapon."

All Might-sensei just stands there dumbstruck. Even his signature smile seems to be frozen with the unspoken question, "What just happened?" He snaps out of it quickly, though. "Oh! Yes. It was a good trial. Yes. Good. Let's go back."

Hanada-chan's smirk widens, and she steps off the wall. She strolls to the door and gestures with her hand for Sensei to go ahead. "After you, Sensei."

And I can't believe my eyes, but I see All Might-sensei face flush red from embarrassment. It takes all of his effort to maintain his smile and booming voice. "Right. Thank you." With that, he heads straight toward the door and down the stairs without looking back at Hanada-chan. So amused by his behavior, Hanada-chan covers her mouth and tries to stifle a laugh. She waits a few seconds before following him through the door.

Meanwhile, I feel a storm of emotions. Pride for Hanada-chan's effort. Shock at her ingenuity. Secondhand embarrassment for All Might-sensei. Humor from his expression.

When Sensei and Hanada-chan enter the surveillance room, and I don't waste a second going straight toward her.
