This was another episode I first intended of skipping, but I feel like this contains a big part of Jessie's childhood that's important, so here you are.
But first, there will be a scene of Ashley catching a new Pokémon. Which Pokémon is it? Let's find out.
The chapter begins in Ashley's point of view.
Disclaimer: I do not own any Pokémon characters! I only own my OCs!
Chapter 7: Ignorance Is Blissey
We weren't so far away from Happy Town, which was the last town away from Violet City. The excitement to challenge Pokémon Gyms again was getting over me. I also started feeling nervous about how well I would do in the new region. That's why Ash and I were busy training our Pokémon after we ate lunch cooked by me and Brock.
Ash and I decided to train our newest Pokémon so they could get used to training and battles. The veteran Pokémon took it easy and rested after the meal. Well, Heracross attempted to eat the nectar from Ivysaur's flower, but he shook the bug Pokémon off every time and took cover behind Firered and Charizard.
"Cedric, use Screech on Heracross! Trica, use Quick Attack!" I shouted.
"LarviTAAAR!" Cedric screamed so the soundwaves affected Heracross. Heracross covered the part where his tiny ears were while Trica dashed towards him.
"Chikorita, use Razor Leaf to intercept Trica!" Ash yelled.
"Chiko!" Chikorita jumped up and swung her leaf which released a couple of sharp leaves.
"Dodge them, Trica!" I quickly shouted.
"Tret!" Trica shrieked as she quickly jumped to the side, barely dodging the Razor Leaves.
"Now, Heracross; use Horn Attack on Trica!" Ash shouted. "And Chikorita, use Vine Whip on Cedric!"
"Herakroooss!" Heracross buzzed as he flew toward Trica with his horn aimed at her.
"Chikooo!" Chikorita shrieked as she whipped her Vine Whips toward Cedric.
"Dodge with Quick Attack, Trica, and tackle Chikorita!" I yelled. "Cedric, dodge the Vine Whip and use Bite on Heracross!"
Trica jumped to the side and ran past Heracross as he flew straight into a tree and got stuck with his horn on it. She dashed toward Chikorita and tackled her just as Cedric dodged the Vine Whip move. He ran as fast as he could to Heracross and bit him on the back. Heracross released a yelp of pain and shrugged Cedric off. Heracross's defense was much stronger than anticipated and dark-type moves weren't so effective against fighting-type Pokémon.
"Okay! Let's take a break, guys!" Ash called, canceling the training, before he ran to Heracross who struggled to get his horn out of the tree. "Heracross, you okay?"
"Hera!" Heracross growled as he pulled himself away from the tree without any success.¨
"Oh man…", Ash cold sweated. "Charizard, can you help us?"
"Rawr!" Charizard rumbled before he stomped over to the struggle.
Misty walked to me with Togepi in her arms and Psyduck by her side. "Well, who would've thought that would happen during training?" she commented as she watched my brother and his Pokémon do their best to help Heracross.
"Togiprii."
"Psy psyduck."
"Anything unusual can happen at any moment", I replied before I crouched down to pat Trica and Cedric. "You two were great. Just a little more training and you'll be ready for your first Gym battle with Firered."
"Taar!" Cedric smiled.
"Sentreet!" Trica smiled along with a nod.
Ash, Ivysaur, Chikorita and Charizard helped together to pull Heracross out of the tree. However, they pulled him out a little too hard, so they fell backwards to the ground and Heracross got accidently thrown over Charizard so he landed into some bushes.
"MAREEEEP!" a surprised shriek echoed from said bushes before a yellow Pokémon ran out of them with a scared expression.
"A Mareep!" I exclaimed in surprise and joy. I always wanted a Mareep because it was cute and it was said to be a strong electric-type Pokémon as an Ampharos. "Cedric, intercept it with Bite!"
"Taar!" Cedric rushed toward the panicked Mareep and bit it on the tail.
"REEEEP!" Mareep bleated in pain and tried running around in panic, but Cedric kept his teeth on the tail and he was too heavy for Mareep to drag along. The orb on the end of its tail began sparkling before its body and wool released a Thunder Shock. "MAREEEEEP!"
Cedric barely flinched as he was unaffected by the electric-type move because he was both rock and ground-type. Now it was time to try the new move he recently learned. "Cedric, use Rock Slide!" I yelled.
"Lar!" Cedric yelped as he let go of Mareep's tail and jumped back, throwing up some dirt as he skidded backwards. Once he came to a halt, he screamed as he used his power to summon several large boulders in the air and threw them at Mareep. The wild Pokémon panicked and dodged a few of the boulders, but it got struck by the rest of them.
"It looks weak enough!" Brock shouted. "Now's your chance, Ashley!"
"Gotcha!" I nodded before I grabbed an empty Poké Ball and threw it. "Poké Ball, go!"
The Poké Ball flew past Cedric and bounced on Mareep's head. The capture device opened and absorbed the wild Mareep before it closed itself and landed on the grass. Everyone was silent as we watched the Poké Ball wobble left and right with the middle button glowing red. Three seconds later, the Poké Ball beeped as a sign that Mareep has been caught.
"Alright!" I cheered happily as I picked up the capture device. "I caught a Mareep!"
"Tar taar!"
"Sentret reet!"
"Wow…", Ash said a little stunned by the event. "Congrats, sis. I didn't expect you to catch another Pokémon so soon."
"Well, I do need to build my party for the Gym and I've always liked Mareep from the books", I smiled before I walked to Heracross who had crawled out from the bushes where he had landed a moment ago. "I know you didn't mean to do it, but thank you for your help, Heracross."
"Herakross…?" Heracross looked a little shy by getting the compliment.
I giggled at his response before I smiled at Mareep's Poké Ball. "Mareep, come out!"
The Poké Ball opened up and sent a white light out of it that formed into my newly caught Pokémon. It looked a little better now than before, thanks to a quick recovery thanks to the Poké Ball. "Mareeep!"
I crouched down to look less intimidating to Mareep. "Hi, Mareep. I'm Ashley, your new Trainer. Nice to meet you", I smiled.
"Reeep?"
"Let's see what the Pokédex says about it…", Ash mumbled before he fished up his Pokédex from his jacket.
Mareep, the wool Pokémon. Electric-type. Its fleece grows continually. In the summer, the fleece is fully shed, but it grows back in a week. If static electricity builds in its body, its fleece doubles in volume. Touching it will show you.
"It says here this Mareep is a male, Ashley", Ash informed me.
"A male, huh…", I mumbled before I got quiet to come up with a good nickname for my new Pokémon.
Pikachu walked over to Mareep and greeted him with a wave. "Pika pika!"
"Mareeep!" Mareep bleated before he started snuggling with Pikachu by brushing his face against the electric mouse Pokémon.
"Aww, they're already becoming good friends", Misty said in awe.
"Both of them are electric-type, so it makes sense they'll bond quickly", Brock stated.
Cedric and Trica joined the snuggle party to get acquainted with Mareep. I rubbed my forehead for a while before I gasped in relief when I came up with a nickname. "Hikaru!"
"Huh?" the others said confusedly as the Pokémon stopped snuggling.
I smiled at Mareep and held a hand out palm up for him to smell. "Your name is Hikaru from now on", I told him.
Hikaru smelled my palm carefully before he gave it a lick. I laughed by the sudden contact, but it was more of a surprised and happy smile.
"Hikaru seems to like you already, Ashley", Misty smiled.
"Rawr", Firered rumbled as he walked to us to welcome the newcomer.
Brock clapped his hands to get our attention. "Okay, guys! I can do a quick check on your Pokémon before we leave for Happy Town!" he called.
"Thanks, Brock!" Ash replied before he and his Pokémon, mainly Heracross and Chikorita, ran to him for a quick inspection.
I walked back to my backpack to grab one of my sky-blue ribbons. I had a hard time deciding where I was going to tie the ribbon, but I finally decided on Hikaru's tail for now. "When you evolve, I promise I'll tie the ribbon somewhere else on your body", I told him and gently caressed his soft wool.
"Mareeeep!" Hikaru bleated with a nod.

It was very late when we finally reached Happy Town. The majority of houses had their lights off, meaning the townsfolk had gone to bed. We actually found a hotel, but it was already closed, so we had no other choice but to look for the Pokémon Center.
I covered my mouth as I yawned loudly and rubbed my tired eyes before checking the map on my PokéGear. "We should be by the Pokémon Center soon", I told my brother and friends.
"I hope so, 'cause I'm very hungry…", Ash whined.
"Piiika…", Pikachu whined tiredly.
"Happy Town was farther away than I thought", Brock commented in a whiny voice. "My feet are killing me."
"We're all tired", Misty yawned as she carried a sleeping Togepi. "I want a nice soft bed."
I rubbed my eyes again before I looked up and saw we had arrived to the Pokémon Center. "We're here… Finally…", I mumbled in relief, but then I groaned as my hungry stomach began hurting for being empty.
"Alright! Let's go in and order a big dinner!" Ash exclaimed in joy. He ran past me and grabbed the door handle to open the door, but nothing happened. "Huh? They're closed?"
"What?! No way!" Misty shrieked in disbelief. "All our hopes and dreams for nothing!"
"Yeah, I want to see beautiful Nurse Joy!" Brock nodded angrily.
"Hey! Anybody in there?!" Ash yelled as he banged on the door. "We're four Trainers who want to rest here for the night!"
"Pika pika!"
The next thing we knew, the door opened all of the sudden and bashed Ash in his face. He fell backwards into me, but I caught him in time before both of us could crash on the concrete. "Are you okay, Ash?" I asked him concernedly.
"Y-Yeah, I think so…", Ash mumbled before he rubbed his sore face.
"Blissey? Blissey blissey!" a Blissey wearing the nurse cap and a gold pendant broken in half panicked and bowed her head to apologize for hurting my brother.
"Who's that Pokémon?" Ash asked after he recovered from the surprise. "It looks like an evolved form of Chansey."
"That's because it is the evolved form of Chansey", I explained to Ash while I picked up my Pokédex. "This is Blissey."
Blissey, the happiness Pokémon. Normal-type. The evolved form of Chansey. It has a very compassionate nature. If it sees a sick Pokémon, it will nurse the sufferer back to health. Anyone who takes even one taste of Blissey's egg becomes unfailingly caring and pleasant to everyone.
"Blissey blissey bliss!" Blissey kept bowing her head to apologize.
"It's okay, Blissey. I'm fine", Ash assured the worried Pokémon.
"I have to say the evolved form of Chansey is charming", Brock commented. "No wonder it's popular among girls."
"Blissey?" Blissey looked very confused by the compliment.
"Brock, that sounded a little weird just now…", Misty mumbled.
The growl from Ash's stomach reminded us all of how hungry we were. "Ugh… I almost forgot my poor stomach", he whined.
"Blissey!" Blissey chirped before she grabbed my brother's hand and led him inside the Pokémon Center.
"H-Hey, wait!" Ash called as he got pulled into the building.
The rest of us were surprised by Blissey's move and followed them inside the Pokémon Center. Blissey led Ash to the empty cafeteria before she ran into the kitchen. We could hear her making lots of noises like she was cooking something for us.
"Blissey is really cooking something for us?" Misty asked in surprise.
"That's very kind of her", I smiled softly before I yawned again.
"I wonder what she's making…?" Brock said before he smelled the air when a sweet scent came from the kitchen. "Mmm… It smells like curry."
"Blissey bliss!" It didn't take long before Blissey stepped out of the kitchen carrying six platters stacked on top of each other with hot food, like curry and some soup.
"Wow! Look at that stack of food!" Ash started drooling by the sight of the food.
"Pika…", Pikachu wiped the drool from the corner of his lips.
"So it is curry!" Brock smiled. "I bet it's the Johtonian style!"
"Let's find out by eating!" Misty suggested.
"Priii…!" Togepi woke up, apparently by the scent of the food.
"I love curry because it's so easy to eat", I commented with a soft smile.
"Blissey blissey!" Blissey bounced to us very enthusiastically the platters moved around like they would tip over any second.
"Slow down, Blissey!" Ash told the Pokémon. "You're gonna drop the platters!"
Blissey was probably too enthusiastic because she kept smiling while heading toward us and we hadn't even sat down by a table yet. I moved back in case, which was a good choice. Blissey suddenly tripped on the clean floor and dropped the platters so they flew over Ash. The curry and soup got all over him and made him a big mess.
"Well… There goes our dinner…", Misty muttered in disappointment.
"Blissey blissey blissey bliss!" Blissey noticed what happened and quickly ran to Ash and bowed her head to apologize for what she had done.
"Don't worry, Blissey; you were just a little too excited", Ash laughed sheepishly.
"Blissey", Blissey nodded before she dragged Ash to another room of the Pokémon Center, probably to the shower.
"I guess we should clean up the mess while Ash takes a shower?" Brock asked as Blissey ignored the mess she had caused.
"I guess so…", I mumbled tiredly as I stared at the food on the floor. It was tempting to pick it up and eat, but that would be too nasty.
Let's just say, the rest of the late evening got chaotic with Blissey making more mistakes like scrubbing Ash's back with a broom and accidently wrapped him up like a mummy, scaring Nurse Joy who woke up after she heard all the commotion. She apologized on Blissey's behalf and told us Blissey just wanted to help and not cause any trouble for us.
In the end, we all went to bed without getting dinner, so we had a hard time falling asleep, but we managed to do so, dreaming about our favorite food.
XXXXXXXXXX – Jessie's POV
James, Meowth and I have been surviving on berries and wild fruit for the last couple of days while trying to find the twerps so we could steal Pikachu and the rest of their Pokémon. We were very eager to get something more filling in our stomach, so it was a relief when we found a town in the middle of the night when flying in our air balloon. However, nothing was open, so we couldn't go and buy some stuff or even steal food from the storage.
"I can't walk another meter…", I whined as I rubbed my empty stomach.
"I'll be a dead cat soon if I can't get my hands on some Pokémon fodder", Meowth groaned hungrily. "Even though it's not my favorite food."
"I got an idea", James spoke up. "Why don't we sneak to the Pokémon Center? Not only do they have tons of Pokémon, but also tons of food we can steal! Kill two Pidgeys with one Geodude!"
"James, that's a brilliant idea!" I cheered happily, completely ignoring my hungry stomach. "Let's go!"
It was easy to find the town's Pokémon Center. We snuck in through the air vent, which was a little tight but wide enough for me and James to crawl in. We prioritized our hunger, so we went to the kitchen to find anything to satisfy our stomachs. The only thing we found was empty cabinets. Not even a single breadcrumb.
"What Pokémon Center is this?" I muttered irritably in the darkness. "There's no food at all!"
"Even the trash can's empty", James reported disappointingly.
Meowth checked the refrigerator that looked pretty much empty. "Meoow! Check this out!" he exclaimed in joy and showed us a half-frozen parsnip. "I found a parsnip!"
"Gimmie that!" I called as I snatched the root vegetable and quickly prepared a cutting board to chop the little food. "We're gonna divide this equally."
"My mouth's already drooling, just hurry!" James whined next to me.
"Hey!" Meowth hissed before he took back the parsnip and ran away with it. "I found it so it's mine! Finders keepers!"
"Hey! Come back, Meowth!" James yelled as he and I ran after that traitorous food thief. "We're a team, so we should split up the food between us!"
"Yeah, you unfair little furball!" I growled, agreeing with James wholeheartedly.
It was dark in the Pokémon Center, so I quickly lost sight of James and Meowth. "Oh great, where are they…?" I grumbled irritably as I walked down the corridor, trying to be quiet to not wake anyone up. "Meowth, give the parsnip back…!"
I held back a gasp when I saw the light from a flashlight and then heard footsteps. I stepped back and reached for my Poké Balls, ready to battle if needed. A pink and white Pokémon stepped around the corner and spotted me instantly.
"Blissey?"
It didn't look like a Chansey, no. I think it was its evolution form called Blissey. I didn't really keep tracks on every Pokémon that exists.
"Blissey blissey!" Blissey actually looked very happy to see me, but I had no idea why.
"Retreat!" I yelled to myself before I ran back to the way I came from. I didn't want to fight any Chansey because that Pokémon reminded me of-
"Blissey!"
The next thing I knew, I got tackled down to the ground by the happy-go-around Blissey. "Ow! Hey, cut it out!" I shouted at her as she got off me and bounced on her feet. "What are you-" I blinked my eyes when I finally noticed its pendant. It was broken in half and I only knew one Pokémon that could've broken it. "C-Could it be…?" I fished up the piece of pendant I got from my old friend and checked if it fit with Blissey's broken pendant.
"It…It fits…", I mumbled, feeling overwhelmed by emotions and memories I once buried in my childhood. "I can't believe it's you…my dear old friend."
"Blissey blissey!" Blissey smiled wider now that I had recognized her.
"I had no idea you were going to ever evolve into a Blissey, but you did", I smiled. "Say, I've got two friends with me who I'd love to introduce them to you."
"Blissey bliss!"
We walked back to the cafeteria where James and Meowth had returned. The single unscratched parsnip rested on one of the many tables, so James must have found the food thief before he could eat it whole.
"Jessie…? What are you doing with that Blissey?" James asked after he and Meowth quit the staring contest.
"James, Meowth, this Blissey is actually a very old friend of mine", I told them as we sat down on a booth.
"You have friends, Jessie?" Meowth asked in surprise.
Instead of whacking him on the head, I held back myself to not show my rough side to Blissey. "Blissey and I met when I was a teenager, freshly graduated from high school", I explained. "You two know I was raised by boss's mother after my mother…disappeared during a mission." I made sure to keep the truth a secret from my naïve friend. "I didn't really want to follow Mom's footsteps, so I decided to try becoming a Pokémon Nurse, one of my biggest dreams in life. Unfortunately, I couldn't get in on any human nurse school, so in the middle of the heat, I applied to a Chansey-exclusive nurse school. Blissey, who was a Chansey at the time, was a little clumsy, so I helped her out and she helped me in return." I couldn't help but smile at the fond memories, but then they switched into the bittersweet end. "I couldn't graduate from that school because I was a human, so I had no other choice but to drop out. Chansey successfully graduated and wanted to give me her precious nurse cap. I couldn't accept it, so she split her pendant and gave the other half to me as a memory that we both still carry to this day."
"Blissey bliss", Blissey nodded with her cute little smile, the same she had when she was a Chansey.
Meowth and James actually cried tears after hearing one of my deep secrets. They knew I lost my mother who had worked for Team Rocket and was friends with Giovanni's mother, so I had been part of the organization since I was a little girl and grew up with boss who was at least ten years older than me. Therefore I had huge respect for Giovanni who never fired us after giving him bad reports of our mission.
"T-That was so touching, Jessie…", James cried.
"I-I guess we all have something emotional that we carry in our hearts…", Meowth snorted as he wiped his tears off.
The lovely reunion unfortunately got interrupted by our stomachs that reminded us of our initial plan. "Oh my… I almost forgot about our main issue…", I blushed embarrassingly.
"Blissey? Blissey blissey!" Blissey chirped before she took my hand and dragged me out of the cafeteria.
"Where are you taking me, Blissey?" I asked as I was very confused.
"Blissey says she wants to give us some food", Meowth translated as he and James followed us.
I had no idea how we managed to miss it, but Blissey led us to a food pantry that was loaded with food! Fresh food too!
"Blissey blissey!" Blissey ran to the shelves and grabbed one full cardboard box after another and placed them in front of me and the guys.
"You're giving everything to us, Blissey?" I asked.
"Blissey blissey bliss!" Blissey nodded as she put down a cardboard box full of canned food.
"Blissey says it's the least she can give you after you helped her in that nurse school", Meowth translated once again.
I was a little uncertain about it. Usually, I would jump in joy when someone offered food to me, but if my old friend wanted to give all of the food there was in the Pokémon Center, wouldn't that put her job on the line?
"Well… Um…", I hesitated, not feeling so good about it.
"We happily accept the food, Blissey", James spoke for me. "Jessie is so happy she's stunned for words."
"Blissey!" Blissey smiled widely as the shelves were soon empty.
"Oh, Blissey…", I mumbled sadly before we helped each other to carry the food boxes out and bring them to our nearby air balloon. My stomach hurt again, but this time it wasn't because of hunger…
XXXXXXXXXX
I should have listened to my gut feeling last night. I still didn't feel so good in the morning, so after we ate some of the tons of food Blissey gave us, I asked James and Meowth if we could fly by the Pokémon Center and see how my old friend was doing. Because the food supply was too big, we put it in a large net bag that hung beneath the basket of the air balloon.
Just like I thought, Blissey was getting scolded by Nurse Joy about the empty food pantry. If she didn't say something, she could lose her career that she had worked so hard for even after we parted ways.
"No… Poor Blissey…", I bit my bottom lip as I watched the scene unfold through the binoculars, ignoring the fact that the twerps were there. "We shouldn't have taken all the food… Now she's going to get blamed for it and she'll lose everything."
"Then… Let's help her", James said. "She helped us yesterday and she's your friend."
"You sure about it?" I asked.
"Yeah, well, we did eat plenty last night and this morning, so we can give back the food", Meowth scratched the back of his head.
"But if we come forward and tell Nurse Joy that Blissey gave the food to us willingly, she'll think Blissey's in cahoots with us", I told the guys.
"Then let's say a white lie and claim we tricked Blissey into giving the food to us", James suggested.
"I guess…that sounds okay", I nodded hesitantly.
"Then let's put the plan into action and try taking the twerps' Pokémon in the heat!" Meowth exclaimed.
The air balloon descended until we were close to the ground. We cut off the rope to the net bag once it landed safely. Then we landed next to it to proceed with the plan.
James picked up a megaphone and turned it to the highest volume so we could get Nurse Joy and the twerps' attention. "Oh no, Jessie, Meowth! We dropped all the food we stole from the Pokémon Center!"
It didn't take long before the twerps and Nurse Joy ran out of the Pokémon Center. "Team Rocket?!" the twerps shouted in pure surprise.
"Did you three trick Blissey into stealing the food from the food pantry?!" Nurse Joy yelled.
"Well, boys, sounds like they've figured it out!" I cackled.
"Your Blissey isn't very smart, so we tricked her into giving us the food!" James added.
If we weren't acting right now, I'd clobber him for calling my friend stupid.
"We took advantage of the naïve Blissey thanks to our devilish plan!" Meowth laughed.
"You tricked Blissey?!" Nurse Joy gaped in shock.
"So you're the reason why we didn't get breakfast after we suffered the whole night without supper?!" the male twin twerp yelled angrily. "Give back the food right now!"
"If you want it, come and get it, twerp!" James told him.
"Or better yet; we'll exchange the food for every single Pokémon in the Pokémon Center, including yours, twerps!" I laughed.
"No way!" the female twin twerp shouted irritably. "We'd rather battle you for it!"
"Pika pika!" Pikachu growled as his cheeks sparkled.
"Blissey blissey!"
My mouth dropped in horror when Blissey came running out and ran past Nurse Joy and the twerps. She was happy to see me, but if she got close enough, Nurse Joy would put two and two together faster than the speed of light and it'll be game over for my dear friend.
"Blissey, no…!" I whisper-yelled at her, stopping her midway. "Go back…!"
"Blissey?" Blissey looked very confused by my demand, but she ignored it and came closer. "Blissey blissey!"
"Stay away, Blissey…! We're trying to save your skin…!" I whispered to her. "I'm from the evil organization of Team Rocket…! You don't want to belong there…!"
"Blissey blissey!" Blissey kept smiling, even though I just told her the truth.
She didn't care about the fact that I was in Team Rocket. She saw me as Jessie, the teenage girl who helped her become a Pokémon Nurse. As much as it pained me, I had to take drastic measurements to stop Blissey from making her life's worst mistake.
"That's it! Arbok, Lickitung, I choose you!" I yelled as I threw my two Poké Balls.
"Shaaarbook!"
"Lickiii!"
"Blissey blissey?" Blissey stopped in her tracks and looked very confused.
I cleared my throat so it wouldn't sound so hesitant and filled with other emotions that I was holding back. "Well, you're trying to be a good Pokémon and redeem yourself by facing us by yourself and take back the food? I'd love to see you try!"
"Blissey?" Blissey looked genuinely confused, but then she replaced that expression with a smile and walked closer to us.
"Blissey, get back!" Nurse Joy called worriedly.
"I warned you!" I yelled at Blissey. "Arbok, Lickitung, tackle that annoyance back!"
"Shaaarbook!"
"Lickiii!"
My two Pokémon took turns to tackle Blissey back several meters. I didn't realize until afterward that they had used too much force on her that she was already covered in bruises.
"Hey…!" I whispered to Arbok and Lickitung. "Don't use full force on Blissey…! Hold back as much as you can…!"
"Shaar?"
"Licki?"
Nurse Joy ran to Blissey and crouched down next to her. "Blissey! You don't have experience in battle, so don't do this!"
"B-Blissey…", Blissey got up on her feet and actually ignored Nurse Joy. She walked toward us again, her sweet smile still pasted on her lips.
"Stay back! We won't hesitate to attack you again!" I yelled at Blissey, my face sounding off because my emotions were slowly leaking out.
"Blissey… Blissey…"
"Lickitung, slam attack Blissey!" I shouted. "Gently…"
Lickitung wrapped its long tongue around Blissey and lifted her up before it threw her toward the ground. Just before the impact, it stopped above the ground and let go of her.
"Arbok, use Wrap on Blissey! Gently…"
"Shaaar…!" Arbok wrapped his body around Blissey without using too much force on her. She did shriek in slight pain and that was the cue of Arbok to release her.
"I hope you learned your lesson, Blissey!" I cackled, trying to sound genuine. "You have no chance against us!"
"B-Bli… B-Blissey…", Blissey still walked toward us with her warm eyes piercing my soul. She still wasn't giving up.
"B-Blissey…", I mumbled in shock as I bit my bottom lip to hold back my feelings.
"I can't watch this anymore!" the female twin twerp yelled in a voice that sounded just like my feelings. "Hikaru, go!"
She threw a Poké Ball that released a Mareep. That was a new Pokémon I hadn't seen her use. "Maareeeep!" it bleated.
"Hikaru, use Thunder Wave on Team Rocket!" the female twin twerp shouted.
"Mareeeeeep!" Mareep ran past Blissey before its fleece sparkled and released a lightning bolt that struck us and my Pokémon. It didn't hurt as Pikachu's Thunderbolt, but it still made my body tingle and I had no control over my nerves.
"We're paralyzed!" Meowth shrieked as his body sparkled by the effect of Thunder Wave.
The twin twerps and Pikachu ran past Blissey to cover her. "You've done enough to Blissey! Now it's our turn to avenge her!" the male twerp yelled. "Blissey, stay back and rest. You did great."
"I'm so sorry, Blissey!" Nurse Joy cried as she cuddled with Blissey. "I shouldn't have doubted you from the beginning. You were taken advantage of those evil people because of your sweet heart."
"Blissey…", Blissey hummed before she turned to me. I quickly shushed her to make sure she stayed quiet about our relationship or else she would wave her dreams goodbye like I once was forced to do.
Now that the confusion was over, the twerps could gladly finish the rest of the mess. "Pikachu, use Thunderbolt!" the male twin twerp shouted.
"Hikaru, use Thunder Shock!" the female twin twerp shouted.
"Pika…CHUUU!"
"MaaaaREEEP!"
The two electric Pokémon unleased their attacks and electrocuted us. In a way, I felt relieved the twerps took over the battle, so I had no regrets when we got thrown up to the sky and flew far away from the little town.
"My dear friend Blissey… Please keep our friendship a secret…for the sake of both of us…", I mumbled quietly to myself as I allowed the wind to carry me wherever it took us.
XXXXXXXXXX – Ashley's POV
This whole time, I thought the interaction between Blissey and Team Rocket was odd. Blissey showed no signs of being scared of them, not even when Jessie ordered her Pokémon to attack her. My heart broke when I watched Blissey getting attacked so I had no other option but to interfere.
I sat in the cafeteria with Ash and the others waiting for breakfast, but I was quiet as I tried figuring out the relationship between Blissey and Team Rocket, mainly Jessie. Jessie had sounded and acted so weird the whole time like she had held herself back. Was it possible she and Blissey knew each other?
No, that couldn't be.
But… What if that was true?
"Earth to Ashley!" Ash called.
"W-What?!" I snapped out of my thoughts and got greeted by a platter of food in front of me.
"You were so deep in thoughts you didn't even see the food getting served", Misty said.
"And Blissey did it gracefully without spilling a single grain", Brock grinned.
"Blissey bliss!" Blissey smiled widely.
I smiled gently at Blissey, feeling happy to see she was better after a quick heal and treatment by Nurse Joy. I wanted to ask Blissey about her relationship with Jessie, but my stomach hurt so much that I decided to skip that and eat the breakfast, starting with the soup.
"Thank you for the food, Blissey!" we thanked her.
"Blissey blissey!" Blissey smiled widely.
Perhaps it was best to leave things be. Whatever Jessie and Blissey had between them should probably stay like that.
