This is the single best Mika chapter I have written yet, ever! No Joke.
Ten months after graduation, three months after First C Rank!
The next three C ranks Mika went on were effortless, not including his C rank surgeries and the two B rank surgeries he aided on. Mostly they were guarding people, like a low ranking councilor, and a food delivery to Tobirama valley. Mika didn't really have to do much for them, just exist. They were going well. However, despite that, it was his next D rank hospital shift that changed everything.
It was at that end of his shift, when a young Hyuuga girl walked into his small temporary section. A real beauty with her hime cut blue hair, cream colored jacket and soft kind face. However, to his horror, She was covered in a rather specific bruising pattern, from a Hyuuga attack. Chakra bruising and burns, pinpoint precision. It was a brutal thing, and one he loathed to see. Healing it was a bitch, but it was the look on her face that killed him. She had no hope, no light, she was dead in all ways but her body.
Next to her a tall woman with black tresses and red eyes, a beautiful powerful being with a strong aura. She was standing guard, looking on with love and pain. "Hello, are you her medic?"
Mika nodded. "Mika, nice to meet you. May I?" He offered her a hand, and placed it on her arm, cold chakra surging through her. "I can patch you up, but you will need to rest for the rest of the day. Those are orders. May... May I ask who did this?"
She cringed, the girl. "My father... Hiashi Hyuuga." Her tone was dead, not cold but totally void of hope or happiness.
He felt anger fill him, anger not even the death of his comrades had brought up. Reminded of his own father, who had nearly taken his life, Mika knew what he had to do.
"Hiashi, that would make you his heiress Hinata?" Mika asked. "It is an honor to meet you, Hime..." He offered his warmest smile, and she actually smiled back ever so slightly. "I would kill to have your clans rumored taijutsu skills. I am good, but without a regular sparring partner, I cannot really fully express my skills." He winked at her. "I would love to spar with you, to be your friend, but alas, I am so not worthy."
She actually choked. "No, I would love to be your friend! You seem so nice..."
Mika laughed. "I was teasing you, Hime. Seriously though, I am sort all by myself. I could use a friend and sparring buddy. Maybe you'll help me out, maybe I'll help you kick your father's stoic ass."
She actually laughed here, a small chuckle really. Her guard smiled. "I can arrange that, Mika. I am Kurenai Yuhi, her current guard and likely her jonin sensei when she graduates. Having a friend, especially one that managed to become such a skilled medic at such an age... well, I cannot see it going wrong, can I?"
Bowing, Mika continued to heal her. "I have off tomorrow. I would love to train with you... it's Saturday, so you should have off as well. Kurenai can watch us as well, if she is your guard, I really don't mind."
Kurenai sighed. "I have a mission actually, in the village, but still. I will see what I can arrange. Where do you usually train?"
"Training ground seventy eight." Mika said.
"Then that is where we will be, if she is allowed to join you, which I am sure... sure she will be."
Hinata's smile was soft, but radiant. "I would love that... thank you, Mika..."
And as she left, Mika knew he had made the right choice.
"""
Hinata was ecstatic that her father allowed her to meet up with this Mika. Even if he said. "I do not care what she does, as long as she cannot embarrass our clan any further."
She was too content to care. She had a friend, a real and possible ally that would not hurt or judge her. She could not wait to enjoy her life again, something she had not in far too many years. Since her mother passed, if she was being honest with herself...
She was allowed to go alone, without anyone following after her. She found herself at the training ground where she saw Mika, shirtless, slicing through the air while he dodged strikes from physical clones of himself on the pond. More dance than anything else, she was was enraptured by the entire thing and as such she did not notice it when Mika stopped and turned to her alongside his clones.
"Hinata, you made it!"
Stunned by the joy in his voice, which was cold and smooth, she nodded happily. "I am happy to be here."
"Well, get over here and let's spar. Show what you've got! I'll have you fight my clones, they aren't real and cannot feel pain." She released a long breathe, and knew real peace. She could not kill him by mistake... " I can watch and get a good estimation of your skills and we can adjust and make sure I don't accidentally hurt you too much to patch up."
She nodded with real fear filling her. "Are you sure, I could hurt you with my Gentle Fist?"
"That's why you fight my clones for the time being, so I can make sure you do not kill me either." His wink made her giggle. "Now, kick my clones' collective ass."
She started her katas, moving through them without her normal fear. Knowing her opponents could not feel pain, she felt ready to actually show off her actual skills. She struck down the first clone in one strike, twisting and ducking under another's kick jabbing it's leg to disable it before palming another's belly. This went on until the six clones were all killed and Hinata rose victorious, not even minutely out of breathe.
Mika praised her by... drawing his blade? "Mika?" She cowered, but before she could even startle, he was there, shoving her down and slicing aside a kunai laced with a light bomb.
Hinata shrieked. 'The Light! It burns me!' She clawed at her face, agony searing her naturally incredible vision. 'Wait, a light bomb... this was planned, their after me! I have to get Mika out of here, so they do not-'
"ARH!" She looked up, through her searing retina and saw Mika had already dispatched one ninja, slicing across his neck with his tanto. He faced another, blade against blade, pushing back though clearly losing the battle of strength...
At least, not until a water clone shot up, stabbing a kunai into the enemy's spine, killing him instantly.
"Run, Hinata, get to safety, and do not look back!" Mika commanded, sprinting toward another attacker, this one throwing more kunai at Mika who easily dodged them all with grace she had never seen before. "Get help!"
Hinata should have listened, but she did not... her eyes focused and she saw another rising from behind Mika, a girl with beefy arms and a nasty angry expression. 'Not him, Not Mika! NOT THE FIRST PEER TO TREAT ME LIKE I HAVE ANY VALUE!' And with perfect chakra powered movement, she was there, slamming a palm into the girl's chest, sending a surge of chakra into the girl's heart, killing her instantly.
Mika, knocking out his own enemy with a peerless kick to the head, turned to her and asked her. "Can you see anyone else?"
She focused, her mind sharper than ever. "I can see... My father, he is approaching, as is Kurenai... and the Hokage and guard!"
"Help me tie this one up, we have a report to give."
The group appeared as one, and before Her father could scold her, make her feel worthless, Mika was in front of her. " Lord Hiashi, you should be proud, if Hinata was not here, I would be dead. She easily slayed that one." He gestured to her first kill. "I had killed those two, and was going to confront what I thought was the last, but she used an earth jutsu to ambush me. Hinata saved me."
The man, her cruel father, gaped. Actually, fully, gaped. "What?" Before turning to her. " Hinata, is this true?"
She did not, to her pride, shiver or shy away. "Mika was in danger, I killed her to protect him. He had pushed me away to save me from another when he through that light bomb." She stood taller. "I will protect those I care for... like Hanabi. It is why I never bested her, I knew she would be branded and I could not allow that." She said, her adrenaline bursting through her like a damn.
Her father actually recoiled. "I...I see." He turned to Mika, sighing. "Thank you for saving... my daughter. For succeeding where I failed."
Mika smiled. "If you wanna reward me, let me continue to be her friend. Seriously sir, no disrespect, she is a four star badass. Her raw skill in incredible. She fought my water clones, and bested them in seconds. I am pretty sure there are some jonin she'd best in sheer taijutsu. All she needs is confidence."
That made her father nod. " Lord Hokage... may I have a word?"
The Hokage nodded. "After they give full report..."
Hinata raised a hand. " How did you know were were under attack?"
Kurenai answered here. "I was in his office when we were alerted to a breach in the barrier. It was near your location, so we hurried here. It seems we were not needed..."
Mika grabbed Hinata's shoulder, pulling her into a hug and kissing her temple. Hinata just smiled, turning a tiny bit red. "
Watching Mika deliver his full statement to the Hokage, she gave her own. After that the Hokage spoke to her father in the distance.
Kurenai smiled at her. "I am so proud of you, for fighting Hinata."
She nodded. "I am proud of myself... finally." She whispered.
After a long moment, The Hokage walked over to them with her father and smiled at them all. "I am sorry this happened, we will interrogate the survivor but glancing at their headbands, they were defects from Cloud that got cocky. My best guess, they were after Hinata to get back into Cloud." He stood tall as his could, which wasn't much. "Mika, at the behest of Lord Hyuuga and your own remarkably overlooked skills... you have been promoted to Chunin. You saved a clan heir kid and are an exceptional growing medic, you deserve it."
Her father spoke next. "I would also like to add, you will be give a long term mission in helping my daughter reach her full potential and guarding her while she trains. As a medic and combatant, you are uniquely qualified. Consider yourself tutor, guard and ... friend, I hope."
Mika, her new friend, did not show an ounce of shock. "You both honor me. I will do all I can, to measure up to your faith in me. I do hope this will look kindly on Hinata's record?"
Lord Hokage nodded. "Yes, if she enters the chunin exams, and does well, it will essentially make her a shoe in, so to speak. Now... Mika, would you help us carry these corpses to the bounty office?"
Hinata lifted one herself. "I will assist, Lord Hokage, it is the least I can. It was me they were after, after all."
"So be it... now... onward, all of you. We have much to get to..."
She and Mika lagged behind, with Mika smiling at her. "I have so much to show you. You'll be the first to see what I am really capable of. I have never had a friend Hinata, I've long been a loner."
"Same here, actually... I cannot wait to see what we become together."
Chapter end, tell me what you think in the reviews.
This was a joy to write.
Love, your Ninja Overlord,
Mika.
