Chapter Five
Megan and David's car…
Megan and David were looking through the list of witnesses to go through when Megan's phone rang.
As Megan listened, her face grew pale, raising alarm bells in David, as he knew that something had to have happened.
"Megan? What is it?" He worriedly asked
"It's Huntington Hospital, Colby was brought in with a gunshot wound with several broken ribs and a concussion, with no Don in sight." Megan said, still looking pale
David's heart dropped, as he never had the chance, or never took one, to try to fix things with Colby and now he might be too late.
"Is Colby alright?" He asked anxiously
"No word yet, but let's go to the hospital to find out." Megan said as they rushed to the car
Another thought occurred to him as he quickly realized that Don wasn't there.
"What happened to Don?" David asked
"I don't know, he wasn't in the house when they found Colby and the woman who called it in didn't see what happened to him after she ran when the fight started." Megan said
"What fight?" David asked, still dealing with a wave of guilt.
"From what I can gather, two men came to the living room when Don and Colby were talking to her and she ran when she saw them." Megan said
"Where is she now?" David asked, unsure what to make of the woman
"Also at the hospital being treated for shock." Megan answered, also feeling uncertain about the woman.
Another thought occurred to David.
"We have to tell Alan and Charlie." David said, concerned
"I know, we'll call them when we know more at the hospital." Megan answered
David merely nodded, knowing it was going to be a difficult conversation with the other two Eppes.
Not to mention the fact he might get on the wrong side of the Eppes, especially when they don't know what happened to Don.
