"There's something going on here that the teachers aren't telling us. And the girls are in on it." Tokoyami said as he impatiently bounced his leg. Dark Shadow looms over him, arms crossed, tapping his fingers on his arm.
"We've already tried asking Rei about it but she won't tell us a thing. AND THERE ISN'T ANYTHING THE THREE OF US KEEP SECRET!" He said as his eyes twitched.
"Except how the two of you truly feel for one another."Kaminari said.
"Yayorouzu isn't saying anything either." Todoroki said as he looked down in thought.
"Neither is Uraraka." Midoriya said in a worried tone.
"Has anyone asked Asui what's going on?" Ida asked.
Everyone nodded their heads no. "She won't tell us a thing either." Tokoyami said.
"It's weird how in just three days, half of our female classmates have suddenly gone home to their families." Ida said as he looked down in thought.
"I don't care what Mr. Aizawa or Miss Midnight says, I'm gonna see for myself just what kind of class she's teaching Reika and the others. The fact of not knowing if they're okay is gonna give me a panic attack." He said as he started tapping his fingers on his head while continuing to bounce his leg.
"What I'm thinking is that this is part of some plan to grade us on what we would do when classmates start to disappear left and right. I've already called both Earphone Jack's and Miss Invisable's folks and neither of them are home. And Earphone Jack's family doesn't have any sort of emergency. So if they're not home, and they're not on school grounds. Then that must mean that they've been kidnapped. And I wanna bet that something happened to the Acid girl too and that Aizawa's gonna tell us some lies to try to make us not worry about her." Bakugo explained.
"Which means another one is going to be targeted tomorrow." Tokoyami said.
"And each one of our girls is gonna keep disappearing until there's none left." Dark Shadow said.
"If this is a way for them to grade how we act, then this is going way too far. Tokoyami and Dark Shadow can't handle much more of this. If Takami was the next one, who knows what they'll do." Kaminari said as he placed his hand on Tokoyami's shoulder.
"Something has to be done about this. It HAS to stop." Ojiro said.
"I propose that each of us take turns guarding Uraraka's, Yayorouzu's, Asui's, and Takami's rooms tonight. We should split into groups of three. I'm sure that Tokoyami will be in the group that will watch over Takami so Ojiro and Koda will join him. Todoroki, you, Sero, and Sato will watch over Yayorouzu. Bakugo, Kaminari, and Kirishima will be guarding Asui's, while Midoriya, Shoji and I will keep watch on Uraraka's room." Ida explained.
"What about me then?" Aoyama asked.
"You're on Mineta duty. With this knowledge, who knows what sort of thing he's planning." Ida said.
"Where is Mineta anyway?" Ojiro asked. Sero tapped him on the shoulder then pointed up to the ceiling. He saw Mineta hanging from the fan still tapped up. "Oh."
"I forgot we put him up there a few days ago." Kaminari said.
"I think the girls had a meeting here the night before Hagakure disappeared, so maybe he might know something." Aoyama said.
"That was before we put him up there. I was with them during that meeting." Takoyami said with irritation in his voice.
The lights began to flicker before they completely went out. "The Breaker must have switched off. I'll go check it out." Kaminari said as he stood up.
They look to see Tokoyami standing up beginning to mutter to himself, walking around in circles. "Guys I think he's starting to get another panic attack." Midoriya said.
"I guess I'll go and scan the perimeter of the place, see if I can find anything unusual." Bakugo said as he sat up and walked outside. He grabs Tokoyami's wrist, dragging him out with him. "You're coming with me bird brain!"
Bakugo uses his explosions to head on top of the dorm building and scan the area. "Bird Boy! Get your head on straight! It's no time for panicking! I'm sure your mate is just fine since she's with the teachers! Hey your ass in gear already and help me watch for villains!" He said as he slapped his face, making him gasp in shock. He looks at him before taking a couple of deep breaths.
"Thank you, Bakugo. I needed that wake up call. I need to have a clear head if we're gonna see what's up. But doesn't the school have top security above and below ground? There shouldn't be any means for villains to attack." Tokoyami explained.
"If the villains have a smart enough ally on their team, they could manage to hack the system remotely." He explained as he turned to Tokoyami.
"Where's Kaminari, I thought he was checking the circuit breaker?" Tokoyami asked as he looked to see where the circuit breaker was but didn't see Kaminari anywhere.
"I have a bad feeling about this. Fly over to the school and check on the girls, I'll stay here and find Sparky." He said as he jumped down to the breaker box.
Tokoyami did as he was told and flew towards the school. He walked inside and heard fighting coming from multiple directions. "Protect all students! We mustn't let them find their target! Cementoss, go check on my students! We may need their help!" He hears Aizawa's voice coming from one of the classrooms. He runs towards the classroom where he sees him and Ectoplasm fighting a lizard headed woman who disappears into her surroundings. She had a quirk similar to Hagakure's but she didn't completely disappear. She only blended into her surroundings.
"Erasure Head! What's going on, How did they get in?" He asked as Dark Shadow appeared and protected him from an attack.
"They snuck in from above. One of the members has a quirk that lets them be undetectable by security systems. They're members of the League of Villains. Since you're here. Find Nezu and the girls and help him protect them. Hawks should be with them as well. This villain is after a certain classmate of yours." He explained. His eyes widened. No it couldn't be, could it? It can't be her.
"Shadow! Dark Fallen Angel!" He yelled as Dark Shadow wrapped his arms around him and they flew out of the room at max speed. "We have to find Reika before she does! If she's already with Hawks and Nezu then the girls should be safe. I think I know who's after her."
"Who would possibly want to harm our precious Rei Rei?" Dark Shadow asked. They turned the corner where they found Hawks, Yayorouzu, Uraraka, and Asui lying on the ground, the girls knocked out. His eyes widened and his breath started to become shallow.
"HAWKS! ASUI!" He yelled as he ran over towards Hawks. "What happened here? Where's Reika?" He asked with worry in his voice.
"She's with Nezu. He told me to stay here and look after the three of them while they went on ahead. I should be protecting my sister!" He explained with an angered tone as he hit the ground with his fist.
"But if they see you with her then they'll find out that she's still alive and that all those years she and the twins have been hiding from them would have been for nothing." Dark Shadow said.
He growled. "I know that! But she's still MY little sister! How am I supposed to protect her if I can't even do that!" He said as tears formed in his eyes.
"Don't worry, Hawks. I'll protect her. She won't take her away from us. Not if I have anything to say about it." Tokoyami said just before he tried to run farther down the hall. Hawks threw one of his small feathers at him.
"Use this. It has a tracking device on it. Should something happen, hide it somewhere in Reika's clothes." He said. He caught the feather between his fingers.
He arrives at a set of stairs leading down. "They had to have gone down there. Shadow, can you check ahead and see what's going on? If I go down there now, they may hear me coming and panic." He said as he looked at his sentient little brother/quirk.
He nodded his head and flew down the stairs silently. Once down the stairs, he hears voices from the room at the end of the pitch black hallway. "Call for help if you wish, but I assure you, dear Reika. No one will find you all the way down here." He heard an older, yet familiar voice. He peeks in to see a woman covered from head to toe in stitches. The stitches on her arm from the elbow were undone and her arm was missing. He sees the arm holding Nezu up by the throat, choking him. He looks over at Reika, who is laying on the ground, struggling to get back up. No. How can it be! Everyone thought she had disappeared years ago!
"You can do whatever you want with me, Aunt Frankie. But I swear, if you touch a single feather on Fumi's head or hurt the twins. Then I will be forced to kill you, just as you did with mom." She said as she spat out blood and looked at the stitched woman with anger.
"You'll never become a hero if you kill me. And you can't do anything to me since I have someone you care about at death's door." The stitched woman said as she grinned ear to ear.
"T-Takami…R-Run!" Nezu tried to yell.
"You know, you were never a very good hero anyway. No hero would hate kids on purpose." She said.
"But I've always hated you with a passion ever since Shrinky Dink brought you to the agency. And whenever she'd drag me with her to her commoner friend's house, the bird headed child never stopped giving me dirty looks and cold shoulders. He would always stay close to you when I was around." She explained.
"Because Fumikage knew something was wrong about you, Aunt Frankie. He knew you were bad news for us and his family." Reika said as she pulled off a bunch of bleeding feathers from her wings. They began to float and hover around her hands.
"Now I get why you never returned to them after I attacked the factory. That and you were staying away from the HPSC. You knew they were bad news to you as well. And if they found out about your poor bird boy's family knowing you. They would've tried to use them against you, just as they tried to do with you on your elder brother, Hawks." She explained as all the stitches from her body came undone and her body started to come apart and float in the air.
Dark Shadow overheard the conversation but flew back towards Tokoyami. Once he got to him, he picked him up but covered his mouth. "Frankenstein found them. She's got Nezu by the throat with a loose hand. and Rei's hurt badly, but standing her ground. It's as we suspected all along. The HPSC is after Rei." He explained. Tokoyami's eyes widened. He is reminded of the years he spent looking for her but being approached by a man in a suit during one of his earlier searches. He clenches his hand into a fist as his breath starts to become shallow. "Fumikage, you have to calm down. This isn't the time to be getting a panic attack. We need to get Rei out of there and bring down Frankenstein once and for all." Dark Shadow placed his hands on Tokoyami's shoulders.
He feels something on his back and lifted into the air. "Well well well, look who the cat dragged in. You seem to be looking well And I see you have your quirk. What is it like some sort of creature from the abyss? You're seriously not trying to be a goth boy, are you? I knew you liked black but I didn't think you'd try to become a creature of the night." Frankenstein said as she floated towards Tokoyami.
"FUMI! Let him go, Aunt Frankie." Reika yelled.
He growled at her. "What are you doing here, Frankenstein?!" He asked in a nasty tone.
"Well that was rude. Not even a hello to your dear old Auntie?" She asked as she grinned. Dark Shadow tried to use Ragnarok to grab Reika but a bright light shone upon him, greatly weakening him. "Now now my boy, I'm not done talking."
"But we're done listening. Time for you to go, Auntie." They hear Rei say as the blue feathers float around then stab each ligament with razor sharp feathers. The hand that had Tokoyami by the back of his shirt let him go. Then more bloody feathers start to float around her.
She looks over at Reika and drops a now passed out Nezu. "Reika, child. You dare to attack me? Bad choice girlie." She said as she smiled. As she spoke, a group of men in SWAT type clothing came into the room. Two of them knocked Tokoyami down and pointed two guns to his head.
Two more came up behind Reika, covering her wings in a black material and putting her to sleep with chloroform, before covering her head with a smaller of the same black material and taking her away. "REIKA NO! LEAVE HER ALONE YOU BASTARDS!" He yells, tears forming in his eyes.
"Great job leading us here Frankenstein. As promised, you and your minions' charges will be dropped." He hears Yokumiru Mera's voice from behind the helmet of the member walking up towards Frankenstein. She then turns to Tokoyami. "As for this one, we could use him as leverage against the Takamis. Hawks has been mentoring this one for a while now. Who knew that he's known his dead little sister all this time. I knew he was hiding something when we approached him five years ago." One of the men holding him down knocks him in the back of the head with the handle of his gun, making his vision go black.
Hawks ran into the area seeing Tokoyami out cold and was being dragged by the two men, followed by Present Mic and Erasurehead. "Keep the light on him. We can't have his Quirk being released and going out of control." Said one of the men.
"Where are you taking my students?" Asked Aizawa.
"Do not worry Erasurehead. No harm will come to these children. So long as they follow my orders." Mera said. Just then a bunch of dogs of all breeds charge into the room, knocking down the two men that held Tokoyami. A white aura appeared around him and formed into the shape of a fox around his body.
"Keep away from our Tsukuyomi!" They hear Rhyan say. The heroes looked behind them as they saw the twins and Koda.
"Where's our big sissy?!" Rhyley Asked.
"Well now. What do we have here? The Kitsune twins. This is a surprise. It seems our runaway angel has been keeping secrets from us after all." Mera smiled as she started walking towards the twins. Koda gets in front of them.
"Leave the twins out of this, Mera. You've already got my sister. What more do you want?" Hawks said as he stood beside Koda, holding Tokoyami in his arms.
"Their Father was once one of our members but he fell in love with a villain. Sure she was a minor villain with stealing and fake identification charges. It is forbidden for one of our members to befriend, let alone marry a villain." She Explained.
"So you killed their parents so that you could try and use the twins as spies for the HPSC, just as you did with me and tried to do with Reika." Hawks said in an angered tone.
"And that is what they're going to do now but they're gonna use her against you and the bird boy." Frankenstein said as she smiled widely.
Hawks and Aizawa's eyes widened. "Use Fumikage against our Rei Rei and I'll drag you all into the dark abyss myself!" They hear Dark Shadow's voice as he growls. He comes out of Tokoyami with blood red eyes and begins to grow as he attacks Mera. He grabs her in his large hands and pushes her through the wall. "Give us back our Rei Rei!" He said in a monstrous voice.
Aizawa used his quirk on Tokoyami but it failed. "Why is my Quirk not working on it?" He asked himself.
"Dark Shadow is a sentient creature. Sure he's Tokoyami's quirk, but it is also an extension of his will and fighting spirit. The two of them have a blood brother type bond. So when Tokoyami is in danger, Dark Shadow comes out all on his own to do whatever means necessary to protect him. But there's something that the both of them have in common, and that's Reika." Hawks explained.
"That doesn't explain why my quirk isn't working on Dark Shadow." Aizawa said.
"Maybe Dark Shadow has evolved into something more than just a quirk because of its relationship with the two of them. Possibly even something that isn't a quirk at all. But something entirely new." He said as he looked down at his young intern. 'You are one interesting kid, Tokoyami. I'm glad my sister has someone like you in her life.' He thought.
An hour later backup arrived and arrested Frankenstein and her minions. They had to enlist the help of Class B's first year student, Shihai Kuroiro, to hold back Dark Shadow from killing Mera. Everyone searched the whole school, but Reika was never found. Endeavor, Hawks, and a few other high ranking heroes, lead search teams to look all over Japan for her. And this time, they won't stop until she's found. Dead or alive. Hawks won't rest until he's found any news on his little sister.
Tokoyami wakes up in a hospital room, seeing his mother sitting on one side of the bed with her head laying on her arms, fast asleep, while the twins sleep peacefully on each side of him, and Hawks, was standing behind the curtains, peeking out of the window. The moonlight that shone through the window, shines on a large bandaged cut on his left cheek. He looks next to him as he sees a covered birdcage that had a light under the cover. Dark Shadow was sleeping inside. "You're finally awake. Dark Shadow told us everything, once we finally calmed him down. The two of you did good. I'll handle the search while you stay here and rest…..I swear, I won't stop until our Reika is found, no matter what." Hawks said as he looked at him.
"Wh-What happened? Why am I in a hospital? I don't remember getting hurt from Frankenstein." He asked.
"There was a lot of damage to the underground passageways and the safe zone, thanks to Dark Shadow. He almost killed Mera, the head of the HPSC. We arrested Frankenstein and her minions, but they aren't telling us anything about Reika. Rhyley used her quirk to look for you and Rhyan used his to protect you from being captured as a leverage against me. When Dark Shadow was on his rampage, he was sucking the life force out of you, converting it into power. You both have been in a coma for a week due to Dark Shadow's rampage." He explained as he grabbed a chair and sat on it backwards.
"Normally, he returns to me when under bright lights. Why is he in a cage?" He asked as he struggled to sit up.
"The doctors are trying to figure out why he isn't able to return to you since his rampage, so they put him in that in case he went out of control again. We were hoping that once you woke up you could help us figure that out." He said.
He reaches up towards the birdcage and raises the cover a little. He sees a small Dark Shadow curled up into a ball, no bigger than a month old kitten. He smirked and opened the cage, gently taking him out and turning off the light. "When Dark Shadow first awakened, I was only four years old and Reika was only three. All Dark Shadow and I ever did was argue and fight with each other. I used to think that he wasn't my quirk but more like a parasite. Reika kept telling us that we are one in the same and that the two of us were like brothers that should get along, two sides of the same coin. We tried our best to get along when we were around her. And thanks to her telling us that we were brothers, I've come to see him not as my quirk over the years, but as a little brother. It's funny, I haven't seen him this small since he first awakened." He explained, beginning to cry when he started talking about Reika. He gently holds Dark Shadow close.
"Don't worry, we'll find Reika and bring her home together. Dark Shadow managed to hide the feather I gave you on Reika. He also managed to grab one of hers." Hawks said with a smile.
"I couldn't protect her. I couldn't save the one I love most. I couldn't do anything to help her." He softly cried.
"Sure, Frankenstein has gotten stronger since she became a villain. But so have you, Tokoyami. You and Dark Shadow share a bond so strong that you could easily take down All For One, because the two of you are more than just Master and Quirk. The two of you are family, brothers that look out for one another, help the other when one is down, protect each other's back sides when fighting. Dark Shadow's weakness is light, but YOUR weakness is the awful fact that you can't ALWAYS be by Reika's or anyone's side to protect them. And that scares you to the point that you start having panic attacks more often. Your emotions affect Dark Shadow's, this could be the reason why he can become uncontrollable." He explained.
Tokoyami looks down at Dark Shadow's sleeping form in his arm, then at the twins, and lastly, his mother.
"Once I'm strong enough, I'll use my detection again to look for her." Rhyley said tiredly as she yawned.
He placed his free hand on her head. "No more using your quirk for a while. You've been sleeping too much because of it." He said as he smiled a little.
"We'll get Rei Rei back and make the Committee
pay for messing with the love of our life." He hears Dark Shadow's child voice. He looks down to see him struggling to lean up. He brings him up closer to where Dark Shadow can see him.
"Hey little brother. How're you feeling?" He asked.
"Like I died, went to hell, then came back to life with unfinished business. I also feel like I've been asleep for a year. Sorry Fumikage, I don't think you can use me again for a while." He said.
"Don't worry about that. Just rest and get better. You're so weak right now that you can't even float. Do you have just enough strength to return to me?" He asked. Dark shadow nodded his head no.
"Do you have any Ideas as to why you can't return to Tokoyami at the moment? You've remained out of his body for a week now." Hawks asked.
He looks down in thought then nods his head no. "Sorry, I don't. I don't even know why I'm as weak as a newborn right now." He said tiredly.
"Yeah that might've been our fault, The doctors kept you in that cage over there to make sure you didn't wake up and went out of control again." Hawks said as he pointed to the bird cage.
Tokoyami smiled at Dark Shadow then placed him under the covers beside him to sleep in the darkness. He looks back at Hawks with a serious and determined look on his face. "What can I do to control my emotions so that Shadow doesn't go out of control again?" He asked. Hawks just smiled.
