REAL JUSTICE,BOYS
"Ugh, my head..." Groaned MJ Carter, otherwise known as Booster Gold, picking himself up off the ground and rubbing his head. "Skeets? Skeets?"
Looking around worriedly for his robot buddy, Booster Gold soon relaxed when he saw the little guy on the ground, his optic out. Gently picking him up, Booster Gold relaxed when Skets' light turned back on.
"Sir, what happened? Everything's so fuzzy..."
"No idea, buddy. Where the heck even are we?"
Looking around, the duo began to fully take notice of where they were; it was a cozy-looking bedroom that one would find in a house in the countryside. However, out the window was a veritable sea of stars and galaxies spanning an endless black sky.
"Okay, is this another threat to the Multiverse thing? Because I feel like we've had way too many of those lately."
Suddenly, a knock on the door alerted the two as Booster Gold cautiously approached and opened it to see what looked like a man wearing a butler's outfit with no facial features or even hair.
"Come with me, Michael Jon Carter."
Seeing no other option, Booster Gold and Skeets followed the mysterious entity down a hallway that seemed to twist and bend as they proceeded. Soon, they came to a large lavish living room with couches, a fireplace, and a giant coffee table.
Looking around, Booster Gold recognized some of the other people in the room as friends and fellow heroes from the Justice League, Teen Titans, and beyond. However, there were also people who looked like they were heroes as well but he didn't recognize any of them.
The people the Hero of the 25th Century recognized were Blue Beetle (Jaime Reyes), Firestorm (Jason Rusch & Robbie Raymond), Shazam (Darla Dudley), Batgirl (Cassandra Cain), Robin (Damian Wayne), Kid Flash (Wally West), Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern (Guy Gardener), Red Hood (Jason Todd), Static Shock, Cyborg, Beast Boy, Raven, Plastic Man, Mr. Terrific, Power Girl, Green Arrow, Black Canary, and the man himself, Batman.
"Hey, looks like the gang's all here," Static noted.
"Yeah, but who the heck are these guys?" Green Arrow asked as everyone noticed there were twenty other superheroes with them.
"Uh, hey, nice to meet you..." Awkwardly spoke a young man in a red and blue spandex costume with a spider theme. "My name is Spider-Man and uh...we kinda wanna know the same thing about all of you."
"It is probably best we all introduce ourselves properly." Said a man in a black panther-themed outfit that looked highly advanced despite the tribal design.
After Booster Gold and those he knew introduced himself, the other heroes did the same courtesy. They consisted of Spider-Man, Deadpool, Iron Man, Captain America, Ant-Man, Moon Knight, Black Panther, Venom, Magneto, Wolverine, The Thing, Dr. Strange, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Vision, Rocket Raccoon, Groot, Falcon, Daredevil, and Morbius.
"Okay, now we all know each other." Black Canary noted. "So the only question remaining is...who brought us here?"
"Who is it this time? We've had experience with this kind of thing." Kid Flash sarcastically noted. "The Anti-Monitor? Dr. Manhattan?"
"How about the Beyonder?" The Thing suggested. "Been a while since that bozo showed his mug."
"None of them."
The forty heroes jumped at the powerful voice that suddenly echoed through the entire room and turned to see a glowing white figure with a golden aura surrounding it having appeared out of nowhere at the center of the room.
"By the Hory Hoths of Hogath!" Dr. Strange exclaimed.
A few of the heroes got into fighting stances but the figure simply held up its hands in a way signaling that it meant no harm.
"You be not afraid. I have indeed summoned you all here, but I have no ill intent."
"Wait, I think I know what's going on..." Deadpool began. "This is some kind of big crossover fanfiction not associated with Marvel or DC, am I right?"
The Justice League looked at Deadpool strangely while the heroes who were part of the Avengers simply looked like they were used to it at this point.
"He...knows about a world outside ours where we're just fictional characters." Luke Cage casually explained.
"You are correct, Wade Wilson. This is indeed a crossing of universes." The mysterious figure said. "You forty great heroes have been chosen for a mission of great importance."
"And what kind of mission is that?" Plastic Man asked.
"There is a world out there where a multi-media corporation creates artificial superheroes to act as their government lapdogs. These 'heroes' merely act in their own self-interest and care little for the ideals they are supposed to represent." The figure explained. "The corrupt organization in question is known by one name; VOUGHT."
"So...evil superheroes run by an organization that sounds a lot like something Lex Luthor would be running?" Green Lantern noted. "And what do you want us to do about it?"
"This world is in desperate need of remembering what real heroes are." The figure explained. "You forty are the greatest examples of heroism in your worlds. You will be the ones to show the corrupt heroes what it means to truly be heroic and bring down Vought's iron grip on the world."
"Great..." Raven groaned. "How long will this take?"
"With your combined efforts, it shall be effortless."
"Any specific directions you'd like us to take?" Ant-Man asked.
"Your main objective is to act as substitute heroes while uncovering this world's heroes' true intentions." The figure clarified before waving its hand and creating a golden gateway that showed a vision of a group of individuals.
They were led by a gruff-looking man with a black beard and consisted of a nervous-looking young man, a silent, stern woman of Asian descent, a sly-looking man of French descent, and a tough-looking African-American man.
"These are 'The Boys', a covert group of CIA operatives led by William 'Billy' Butcher. They are tasked with making sure Vought's 'Supes' stay in line. However, Mr. Butcher is determined to bring down Vought's top hero, the Homelander."
The gateway then changed to reveal a blonde-haired man dressed in a blue spandex suit with red gloves and boots with an American Flag for a cape and golden eagle pauldrons. He was accompanied by a woman dressed like a Roman Gladiator, a blonde girl in a cute white and gold outfit, a black man with sunglasses and a light blue tracksuit-like costume, a mysterious man dressed like a black-clad assassin, a guy who appeared to be invisible, and a guy with gills on his torso and wearing a cheesy costume based on Aquaman.
"Wow, that guy looks like an asshole." Red Hood noted as he looked at the blonde man leading the group.
"That is Homelander and those are his teammates, The Seven. They are Vought's lead heroes and the ones with the most influence."
"Who is he supposed to look like? Superman?" Batgirl scoffed. "Please, Clark could easily take that loser down without breaking a sweat."
"While I have no doubt you could easily defeat Homelander, he must not be underestimated." The figure warned. "You must find and work together with 'The Boys' on order to bring down Vought."
"Michael and I can handle that," Batman said as Mr. Terrific folded his arms and nodded in agreement.
"But wait, won't we be considered non-entities or something?" Captain America pointed out.
"Your secret identities won't matter since you don't have any records on this Earth so you can all be in your civilian forms if you wish." The figure clarified. "But never reveal your mission even if you're in a dire situation, only reveal if an ally is 100% an ally. I'll also provide you with your own Watchtower near the moon, along with some equipment."
"Hold on, if you know so much, how come you're not going down there and kicking Vought's ass?" Wolverine gruffly asked.
"I opted not to take down VOUGHT on my own because the people of this world wouldn't find it inspiring or reassuring."
"And why would you recruit me and...HIM?" Magneto asked, referring to himself and Venom.
"We resent that!" Venom snarled.
"Because despite your villainous backgrounds, both of you have strived to do better." The figure explained. "Are there any more questions?"
"Just one...who the hell are you?" Iron Man asked.
"I go by many names...I have been known as The Presence, The One-Above-All, God, the Father, and many more..."
"Wait...you're God?!" Booster Gold gawked. "Okay...mind blown, people! Tell me you're recording this, Skeets!"
"Sorry, sir. I don't know what he's doing, but I can't get anything!"
The figure moved its head in a way as if it was rolling its eyes before tapping the air in front of it and creating a portal for everyone to go through.
"I wish you all the best of luck on your quest. Go forth and bring back true heroism."
The Avengers and Justice League, with no other option, all went through the portal together. As it closed, the figure suddenly hunched and began to take the shape of a kindly old man with sunglasses and a mustache.
"Excelsior, true believers..."
Knightmare Lord A/N:
Mrotrax and I are gonna be flipping Garth Ennis off in this fic. You hate Heroes so much you'd rather portray them as self-centered corrupt assholes? Well too bad, you're getting REAL Heroes!
This will mostly be based on the TV Series but Mrotrax and I will take a few bits and bobs from the original comics, which we do NOT recommend reading.
Mrotrax A/N: Indeed.
Allow me to point something out; the TV show has heartwarming moments. The comic does not. And honestly, the show has given even the worst Supes more humanity and made them more interesting characters.
In fact, for those of you who have read and or seen my MHA crossover with the Boys' single chapter, the reason for its long hiatus was due to me trying to mix the comics and series into the MHA story. Spoiler; not easy or fun, despite some of the great ideas I had for it.
I AM working on a 'What Could've Been' mini post on DA, which I'll post a link to.
Anyways, enough rambling.
If you're looking for a story that not only humbles and brightens the Boys' world but reminds us why we love Superheroes? Well, we aim to deliver.
