The Lost Boys
Later that day when it got dark, Sam, Michael and Catherine were at the boardwalk watching a concert, while their mom was out looking for a job and Julie decided to go with her. The lead singer was shirtless and had a saxophone, he was singing "I Still Believe." Some people in the crowd were clapping, and nodding their heads to the music. The man played his saxophone as he sung.
Michael, Sam and Catherine were watching the concert, but then Catherine noticed a pretty girl with dark hair and dark eyes wearing a white sleeveless shirt, who was with a young boy who looked like he was Julie's age.
"Angel look," Catherine said to Michael.
Michael sighs he hates it when people call him by nicknames. "What?" He asks trying to hide his irritation as she tugs on his jacket.
"Pretty lady." Catherine says pointing to the girl.
When Michael saw the girl he instantly became mesmerize by her. Michael kept staring at the girl with his eyes completely fixed on her as she was dancing and clapping along to the music. Sam turn to look at the girl, and frowned a little, he turned Michael's head back to the concert. But Michael slowly looked at her again feeling enchanted by her, the girl noticed Michael was staring at her as she was clapping to the music. She then ran off with the little boy. Michael followed her, pulling Sam and Catherine along.
Meanwhile Lucy was out looking around for a job. As she was out looking around the shops she noticed a woman putting up another missing poster, along with all of the others. This missing poster had the security guard who disappeared.
Julie looks at all of the missing posters and frowns, "How many people have gone missing around here? And was it ever this bad when we visited during the summertime?"
Lucy responds by putting her arm around Julie. Then she turned to notice a Help Wanted sign in the window of a video store and she decided to give it a try.
But before she walks in, Lucy spots a little boy who was around Catherine's age, crying and calling out for his mother. "Mom? Mom?" The little boy calls out rubbing his eyes trying to wipe away the tears. "I can't find my mom," the boy says but no one seems to be listening to him.
Lucy and Julie walk over to the little boy, "What's the matter? Are you lost?" Lucy kneels down to his level.
Meanwhile, the owner of the store watches Lucy with extreme interest and he can't help but smile at her. But it disappears as the group of boys who had been causing trouble on the boardwalk a few days ago enter the video store, which made the owner's dog growl at them. He watches them for a moment but is interrupted when Lucy walks into the store holding the small boy's hand and Julie was right behind them.
"Let's go in here and ask," Lucy said to the boy, then said to the owner, "Excuse me, I wonder if you could help us. This little boy is lost and we were wondering if his mother might be in here."
The four teenage boys look over at where Lucy and Julie were with the little boy.
"I don't really know," the man said.
A few seconds later a woman rushes into the store. "Terry."
"Oh, how great," Lucy said.
The woman knelt down and hugged her son, "I was so worried. Don't run off."
"There you are," the owner hands the boy a green lollipop.
"Thanks," the little boy said.
"Bye Terry," Lucy said. And the lady leads her son out of the store.
Julie notices the four teenage boys looking at them and she smiles at them, finding them interesting, particularly the one with the black jacket and the blond mullet. Then one of them flirts with the cashier. "We only come here to watch one thing," said one of the boys to the cashier.
"Well done," the owner says holding out a red lollipop to Lucy and a yellow one to Julie.
"Thanks," Julie said taking the yellow lollipop.
"No thanks. Well second thought..." Lucy decides and takes the lollipop.
The store owner spots the group of boys and frowns at them. "I told you not to come in here anymore," he tells them sternly.
The four boys just smile at him and the one the looked like Twisted Sister gave an okay sign with his hand. They exit the store without saying a single word. Julie frowns a little when they leave.
"Wild kids," The owner mutters.
"Oh, they're just young," said Lucy, "We were that age too once." She then saw the four boys leave on their motorcycles. "But they dress better. Bye bye," Lucy says with a smile as she puts the red lollipop in her mouth.
"You have a generous nature. I like that in a person. My name is Max," the man introduces himself.
"I'm Lucy," she introduces herself.
"How are you?" Max said, as they shook hands.
"Hello, and this is my daughter, Julie," Lucy said putting a hand on her daughter.
"Hello," Max said to the girl, offering his hand.
"Hi," Julie said softly. She shook his hand to be polite, but for some reason she felt there was something strange about him.
"That's my dog Thorn," Max introduces his white German Shepherd.
"Hi Thorn," Lucy states with a smile.
"Say hello Thorn," he said to his dog.
"Well how may I help you this evening?" Max clapped his hands together, "We have it all, the best set of video tapes this side of Santa Carla."
"No, actually I'm not looking for a tape," Lucy said, "What I need is...umm."
"A job?" Max asked.
"Is a job," Lucy nods. "Yeah I look that needy huh?"
While her mom and Max were talking Julie realized that her teddy bear, Blue, slipped out of her jacket that she hid him in. Panicking, she first looked around the floor and when she didn't see him she quickly walked out of the video store to look for Blue. Julie was looking in every direction as she tried retracing her steps, but she couldn't remember all of them. She then gets on her hands and knees looking under vehicles and other things in case if Blue fell underneath.
"Looking for something?" asked a mocking voice.
Julie turns around and looks up to see the four punk teenagers from the video store looking at her. The nine-year old gets up and rubs the back of her neck knowing that these four are strangers, but at the same time she wants to find Blue.
"Umm. Uh, you four wouldn't happen to have seen a blue and white teddy bear?" she asked.
"Aren't you a little old to be carrying around a teddy bear?" asked the boy with curly blond hair.
"No," Julie answers.
"You mean this teddy bear?" asked the one with the blond mullet pulling Blue out.
Julie smiled, "You found him!" The boy hands the bear back to Julie and she hugs him. "Thank you, thank you."
The boy with the mullet chuckles, "No problem kid!" He then decides to introduce himself, "I'm David and these are my brothers," pointing to each of them as he said their names, "Dwayne, Paul and Marko." Dwayne had long dark hair, Paul had blond hair that look like Twisted Sister and Marko was the one with the curly blond hair.
Julie then decides to introduce herself too, "I'm Julie."
"Well Julie maybe you might want to go back to your mom before she knows you're gone," David tells her grinning at her and ruffling her hair a little.
"Yeah I guess you're right," Julie admits, but then pauses for a moment before asking, "But can I ask you something?"
"What is it?" David asked.
"Can I hug you?" Julie asked, "Just to thank you for finding my bear?"
David laughs and smiles with amusement, but said, "Yeah, okay kiddo."
Marko cocks in eyebrow in surprise that his brother would say yes, along with Dwayne and Paul.
Julie wraps her arms around David hugging him tightly. She knows she only just met David and his brothers, but she felt comfortable around them and they didn't seem so bad, so she thought it was okay.
After Julie let go of David he gave her a smirk and said to her, "See you around kid."
"You probably will," Julie said smiling and waved goodbye to David and his brothers as they rode away on their motorcycles.
Meanwhile, Michael is continuing to follow the mysterious girl as he was also dragging Sam and Catherine along.
"So where are we going?" Sam asked.
"Nowhere," Michael answered.
"So what's our rush? You chasing that girl, aren't you? Come on, come on, admit it. You're chasing her. We're at the mercy of your sex glands, bud," Sam said.
"Sam, don't you have something better to do than follow me around all night?" Michael asked.
"Yeah," Sam said, his eyes lighting up. "Actually, I do."
Michael then immediately left them to go find the girl. Sam then walked into a comic book store. As for Catherine she decided to just wait for Sam by finding a place to sit down since she was getting tired.
