Chapter 23: Pick Your Poison (Name)
It is after the Sports Festival, and the aftermath is good and bad. Some news is brought to light about a certain classmate of the girls and some people have to face the ghosts of their past…if they are to move forward in their lives. It is also time to pick their superhero names; I wonder what they will decide.
FFNET: I want to give a shout out to a commentor (guest), who sent their honest opinion on my fic. Well, I understand that you are not a fan of my concept or my ideas of MHA, but…I did not force to read it or the like. Anyway, I love my work and you are welcome to leave it alone if you want. But I will still enjoy writing my heart out. Thanks again for your comment; it is good to get different views to a topic
My last chapter didn't get any reviews L I was really looking forward to some engagement on it. Especially to what I wrote at the end. Hope you all engage in this chapter.
Chapter 23: Pick Your Poison (Name)
-The Iida Residence-
The front door to the Iida household slowly opened up as Tenya's mum quietly stepped through the doorway. She was followed by Tenya walking inside after her, both of them silently taking their shoes off and looking down to the ground. After spending the night and a majority of the next day at the hospital, Tensei-after waking up, much to the family's joy-convinced them to finally go home and get some real rest. While they did finally agree to it, it wasn't easier for any of them to leave.
His mother looked over to the teen, seeing how quiet Iida was, taking a breath and standing back up. "I can make something to eat if you want," she asked him.
Tenya didn't turn back to her, shaking his head. "No thank you."
His mother watched her son walk away down the hall towards his room. "I can bring something to you later if-"
"I'm alright mother. I just… need some rest." He said, repressing his misplaced anger. He left, leaving his pained mother to her own pain. Away from everyone else, Tenya let out the breath he had been holding for several moments. He rubbed his forehead to clear his head, but it only brought forth the image of the man he had to find. He clenched his fist in frustration glared out the window to the setting sun. At that moment, his phone's notification alarm sounded off. He reluctantly took his phone out of his pocket to see the missed messages he had no interest to reply to.
Midoriya: Hey Iida, I hope you are okay. I tried calling you, but you must have been very busy.
Uraraka: I saw the news. I'm really sorry! I hope you are okay, Iida.
He forgot that his friends texted. Honestly, from everything that had happened, he didn't want to talk to anyone at the moment. He gives a generic text, explaining that he was fine-an obvious lie- and that he could not talk at the moment. When he finally sent the message, he turned off his alarms, not wanting to be bombarded by a stream of texts, he knew he would receive. He gripped his gripped his phone, as he paced across his room as he recounted the whole scene he witnessed while at the hospital.
It all seemed fake to him; showing up to this hospital he was expecting to hear his brother was injured but would be back to normal soon. Instead, he was given the worst news of his life, the fact his brother was never going to walk again. It was too much for him to take. His brother Tensei, the best hero in his eyes, was now going to be stuck in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. It was beyond frustration as this point for him. What was surprising was that he didn't feel sad anymore. Instead, his mind and heart were burning inside of his body, a pulsing sensation he could not get rid of no matter how hard he closed his eyes.
Rage.
He quickly went on the internet, searched for the man that his brother encountered that day. When he did, his breath hissed out as he saw a single image of the grotesque looking man, blades littered across the villains body. Tenya's hand squeezed the phone so hard it was close to cracking, his blood shot eyes burning with a passion he had never felt before.
"I promise you brother… I will find him no matter what. I will make him suffer for what he did to you. I want him to know the pain you're feeling. No… he doesn't deserve to live in prison."
Tenya's teeth clenched together in fury, tears of frustration falling from his eyes.
"I am going to find him… And I'm going to kill him."
"Wait, are you serious?"
"Yes I am." Shoto answered as he put his shoes on before leaving his house. "It's finally time I go there."
His sister Fuyumi stared at him in confusion. "But why now? After all this time what made you want to go there? And you know we are supposed to inform him if we to do so?"
Shoto paid less mind to the questions and stared at the door for a few moments as he thought of an answer, turning back to his sister standing there. "I'll be back later."
Leaving his home, Shoto walked in silence down the road towards the nearby train station. The entire way there he thought of the question his sister asked him, still nervous of finally facing her after all these years.
'Ever since that day, I didn't know what to truly think what happened. I was so angry that I only saw my own pain.' He said to himself, walking on and sitting onto the train. 'I have been so focused on my own anger, I have never considered the help she needed this entire time.'
Since the day he got burned, the only thing Shoto cared about was going against his father's own lust for power. It controlled everything in his life, from the way he trained only his right side and even the way he treated others. He kept his emotions bottled up, leaving himself with nothing but the drive for rebellion to his dad. And yet when he tried to prove his point during the sports festival, everything he was aiming was destroyed by the very person he was aiming to beat.
He sighed to himself as he laid his head back against the seat behind him. He still couldn't believe how Midoriya and Blossom were the ones he was so determined to beat, more to do with the former, sue to his obvious connection with All Might. But in the end, he may have beaten him, but it felt like a hollow victory, seeing as he lost to the latter, out of pity. He also lost the finals to the raven-haired Kayama. Even though he used his fire side, he still feels like the man's grasp is on him, lingering within him, Shoto that he everything like his father.
'NO! I am nothing like him! Nor will I ever be anything like him! .' Shoto clenched his fist in frustration to himself as he stood up and exited the train, making his way out of the station and onto the street towards his destination.
'I was so focused on trying everything in my power to not be like him that….' He paused as he reached the hospital he was searching for, his heart suddenly feeling weak now that he was here. He couldn't stop here though, because he had to be stronger. '…I forgot who I was my inspiration to even be a hero.'
Stepping through those hospital doors was harder than the festival he completed the day before, his pulse getting faster with every step he took. Shoto didn't stop though. He knew if he was to be the hero he wanted to be, he had to face the past he had tried to forget. 'I have to look her in the eyes, and tell her what I have been feeling this entire time; that I do not blame her for what she did to me, and I am the one who is sorry. I should have been there for when she needed it.'
He paused when he reached the door to the room he was searching for, taking a breath before reaching for the handle with his left hand. He hesitated, but his mind went back to his fight with the red-headed girl and how she spoke to him with conviction and strength. 'I am not going to run away. I am better than him.'
Pushing the door open, he walked inside and felt his heart jump when he saw her looking out of the window. The snow white hair he had remembered as a child was sitting there in front of him, his hands sweating in
"Hello mother…" The woman shifted slightly to the voice behind her, one she had not heard in so long. She turned around, Shoto's breath catching in his chest. Her face was just as beautiful as he always remembered, her eyes staring at him in disbelief to seeing him again. There was an air of silence and unease, as the two looked at each other with different emotions across their face.
It was only when a tear streamed down the woman's face, when a weak but warm smile crept on her face. "S-Shoto…my boy…"
The words were so welcoming and inviting, Todoroki felt for a split moment…that he was the still a kid.
-Kayama's House-
When the announcement came that the students would have two days off, it felt like a godsend for the girls. They took those days to relax and prepare for what was to come next as school resumed. While they were at home, which was currently Midnight's house, they focused on their individual tasks. Blossom was in the kitchen preparing lunch with Nemuri, Buttercup was upstairs taking a nap, and Bubbles was engrossed in designing clothes and costumes.
However, despite their efforts to unwind, worries lingered. They couldn't shake off the news about a classmate's brother who had been severely injured on duty. Seeing it on the news made the situation all the more real.
"Do you think Iida will be at school?" Bubbles asked, her concern evident.
Midnight took a break to respond, "I'm not sure, sweetie. It all depends on him. He wouldn't be penalized if he decided to take a couple of days for himself. The situation allows it, and even if it didn't, we would understand wholeheartedly," she said truthfully, acknowledging the need for time to grieve.
Bubbles nodded silently, understanding that healing would take time. She hoped the unease she felt about Iida's situation would subside soon. It was waves of emotions that made Bubbles feel terrible.
Seeing the lingering worry on Bubbles' face, Midnight changed the subject. "Well, anyway, that's something you can talk to him about if and when he's ready. Now, what designs are you working on? I see some earth tone colours you're using," she said, redirecting the conversation to a brighter topic.
Blossom, although was busy finishing up the last pieces of lunch, could not help but overhear what was said in the other room. She was also worried for Iida, being that the class chat group she created, was streaming in texts from her other worried classmates. They wanted to know if there were some updates to the whole situation, but Blossom, with the help of Momo, got them to calm down and leave it for Iida to explain when he is ready. She telekinetically brought the food over to the table and set the plates to eat. The two walked over to join her.
"Wow guys, this looks delicious, thanks," Bubbles cheerily said.
"Not a problem darling, but Blossom was really helpful in the kitchen. The dishes look really good," Midnight said, taking a small bite of the side dish
Blossom smiled at that, "Thanks guys, it was no problem. Let me call Buttercup to join us," she made her way to the stairs, "Buttercup, lunch is ready!" She informed her sister. "On the way, red!" Buttercup replied, coming downstairs in a hurry.
"Whoa red! Grub looks great," Buttercup said, feasting her eyes on the meal.
As they sat down to eat, Midnight took the opportunity to express her pride in them. "Girls, I just want to let you know that I am so proud of you three for giving your all at the festival," she said sincerely. "I am especially proud of you, Buttercup. I bet some Pro heroes will be keeping an eye out for each of you three."
"We did make an impression at the event…" Blossom said thoughtfully, "...though, from the way we apparently 'insulted' them, we might not have made a great one," she admitted sourly.
Midnight nodded in understanding. "I get that they are heroes like us, but some of their comments at the sports battles were really out of line," Bubbles interjected. "I don't understand how they could dismiss Uraraka just for being a girl. She was essentially fighting with all her strength out there."
"Buttercup chimed in, "Yeah! She took those blasts head-on. Shoot, that final attack she did was pretty cool."
"I understand your feelings on the matter, girls. I really do," Midnight sighed. "But do remember that some of the pros do not speak for the majority of us here. There were others in the crowd who did not agree with that guy's opinion. But I can agree that what he said was sexist," she said, concealing her annoyance.
Pushing the topic aside, Blossom pondered aloud, "Well, pushing that aside, I wonder what we should expect tomorrow." At that, two pairs of eyes turned expectantly to the older woman, as if anticipating an answer.
"Not happening, girls. You'll just have to wait like everyone else until tomorrow," Midnight said firmly, though a playful glint remained in her eyes, 'It will give me a chance to unveil the little surprise.'
"Ugh!" the two girls groaned.
Blossom shrugged, "Oh well."
-U.A.-
The school day arrived and unfortunately for the girls, it was pouring out. They were all rushing to get out of the rain, as fast as possible.
"Have I mentioned how much I hate the rain?" Bubbles grumbled as they all stepped in to the school building.
Buttercup shook her hair of the water. "Why you complaining Bubs? Some of us didn't carry a snazzy rain poncho," she said, rolling her eyes.
"Oh please, Buttercup. I told you to carry your umbrella. Your poor planning, leaves much to be desired for," Blossom emphasized her point, shaking her drenched umbrella.
"Oh zip it, miss perfect. You know, I could have flown us here. Made it a lot easier to avoid the annoying people on the train," Buttercup said as she activated her powers, causing the water to turn to steam.
Bubbles interjected. "You know we couldn't do anything like that Buttercup, not unless we have our hero licence or risk going to jail. Plus, I don't think it was that bad talking to the people on the train," she says while putting away her poncho. Just then, Tenya Iida hurriedly came in. The girls were surprised at that. "Iida! Wait up!" Izuku called out to his friend, as he run in to the school building. He was panting a bit, before looking up to see…
"Good morning, Izuku."
"Hey, Izuku."
"Hey, green bean." They all greeted the green haired boy.
"Hello everyone," he greeted back with a smile of his own. He quickly saw Tenya still packing. Bubbles taking a chance, walked over to him.
"Good morning, Tenya. I hope you're doing f-" she was interrupted by the boy in question.
"Good morning, Bubbles. If you are here to ask if my brother or I are fine, don't worry. Right now, we must head to class," with that, he abruptly left; not without giving a smile that was obviously fake.
Everyone was quiet, not knowing what to do. So they just got ready and left to go to class as well.
The group walked into their classroom to see that everyone was happily discussing the aftermath of the Festival. In particular all of the attention they had attracted during the long weekend.
"It's so different when they broadcast the matches on TV, huh? Lots of people recognized me on the way here!" Mina exclaimed with a bright grin.
"Yeah, me too!" Kirishima smiled as he looked over at the pinkette.
"Some kids in my neighbourhood were taking pity on me," Sero groaned, feeling embarrassed from that incident.
"People were staring at me, too. It was kind of embarrassing!" Toru giggled as her sleeves moved upwards indicating that the invisible girl was covering her cheeks with her hands.
"Isn't that normal for you, Toru?" Mina questioned playfully.
"Just one Sports Festival and now we're practically celebrities, huh?" Kaminari chuckled at how quickly they'd become recognized.
The girls made their way to their desks, just in time too.
"Good morning, students," Aizawa greeted his class as he entered the room a few seconds before the bell rang.
"Good morning, Aizawa-sensei." The class replied, as they quickly took their seats
"Alright, you all did very well with the festival. However, while the pros watching it got to see your powers, this was more than just a showing off of your abilities. This gave everyone a chance to see the flaws you all need to improve on. For instance…" Aizawa turned his gaze to Bakugou.
"Bakugou, that temper of yours is embarrassing. If your answer to losing a match is to strike after the bell, then you have much to learn." Bakugo stomped on the ground in frustration hearing that. He gritted his teeth and clenched his fists. 'That was no fucking loss… I'll prove that next time.' he hissed internally.
"Kayama…" Aizawa looked to the raven haired girl. "You won first, but while you power is impressive, don't let it go to your head. You are far from being a hero yet."
Buttercup dismissively nodded her head at that. "Yes teach…" she muttered under her breath.
"Good, but before I get to the results of intern offers, there is something important I must remind all of you of first."
'Oh, could it be a pop quiz,' Kaminari nervously thought.
'I hope it is not a test on hero laws. I suck at that.' Kirishima inwardly cringed.
They all felt the uneasiness as Aizawa stared blankly out to the class. "You need code names," he dryly announced, "It's time for you all to pick your hero names."
Majority of the class jumped in excitement and cheers, upon hearing that. The girls were confused at first, but quickly understood what he meant.
Aizawa turned on his quirk, quickly silencing his class. "The names you choose will come after I show you the scouting numbers you each received. This is related to the pro hero draft picks I mentioned the other day. The drafts begin in earnest in the second and third years, after students have gained experience and can become immediate assets to the pros. In other words, for them to extend offers to first years like you shows that they are interested in your future potential. These offers are often cancelled if that interest dies down by graduation."
'Interesting…' Blossom mused to herself.
"So we'll have to prove ourselves once we get picked, huh?" Toru asked
He nodded, "That's right."
"These are the number of pro hero agencies that showed interest in you and want to take you into the field. You have the opportunity to pick where you want to go from the choices you have received." He pointed a remote to the board and clicked, the screen pulling up a chart. "Here are the totals for those who were given offers."
Todoroki: 4,4453
Bakugo: 3,197
Buttercup: 2,848
Blossom: 577
Izuku: 100
Iida: 94
Kirishima: 75
Uraraka: 35
Bubbles: 19
Sero: 14
Kaminari: 11
Aizawa flatly remarked on the large discrepancy between offers, noting, "Normally, the numbers are more spread out, but this year the top three have caught everyone's eyes."
Murmuring immediately broke out among the students, each reacting differently. Some curiously observed the varying amounts between those who received offers.
Uraraka shook beside her in excitement. "We did it! People want us!"
"This doesn't seem right," Tsu commented, looking at the rankings with curiosity.
"Bakugou and Todoroki had more offers, despite Buttercup winning?" Jirou questioned, surprised by the results.
Shoto, however, didn't smile at seeing his name on top. "The majority of them are probably offering because of my father."
Momo frowned at the results; she didn't expect to get any offers, though she knew her performance at the festival was below mediocre.
"I would think that the heroes were not going to choose a guy who was essentially chained to the podium," Kaminari remarked.
"They obviously saw talent staring at their old faces," Bakugou sneered at the results; basking in the knowledge that he was better than the raven-haired girl. Izuku was happy to receive some offers but couldn't find it fair with how the results came out.
Blossom pondered the same thing. Perhaps it had something to do with how she and the girls acted, or maybe the heroes just didn't notice them yet. 'Maybe it's a good thing that we don't stand out that much,' she thought to herself, glancing at her sisters' reactions. Bubbles seemed to be taking it stride, with Koda giving her a consoling hand, while Buttercup wore a heavy scowl.
"I can't blame her... I would feel the same too if roles were reversed," Blossom mumbled to herself.
Aizawa deactivated the screen with a decisive click. "Now, I understand some of you may be confused about your classmates' offers. It's tough, but you have to get over it. Some, if not most, Pro heroes will extend offers based on what they perceive in you or how you present yourself to them," he stated, casting a bored gaze at the three girls. "But it doesn't mean they're always right. Just prove them wrong. And for those of you who didn't receive any offers... you'll still be interning under someone."
"Really?" Momo inquired.
"Yes," Aizawa confirmed. Sensing the mix of confusion in the class, he produced a stack of forms. "At USJ, you already experienced combat with real villains, but witnessing pros at work firsthand will still provide meaningful training," he explained as he distributed the remaining forms.
"So that explains the hero names!" Sero exclaimed excitedly.
"Things are suddenly getting a lot more fun!" Uraraka chimed in with happiness evident in her voice.
"Before we allow you to look at your offers, choosing your name comes before that. The names you make for yourself are important, but they may change by the time you graduate. It is important that you use this time to see how this name fits yourself in the field. A good name will show your personality along with your abilities. If you do not find a name that suits-
"It will be hell to pay later!"
'So that's what she meant by a surprise.' The three all thought, as a familiar figure strode in. The boys in the class blushed and quietly cheered in excitement as Midnight walked into the room strutting in her…new hero suit.
Midnight's attire has undergone a bold transformation, now featuring a strapless sweetheart dominatrix leotard with a fishnet skin tone lining. This innovative design not only adds to her allure but also serves a practical purpose; the fishnet lining allows for seamless dispersion of her Quirk, eliminating the need for tearing fabric in the heat of battle. Adorned with captivating red gemstone-like embellishments along the heart-shaped hem, her outfit exudes elegance and sophistication.
Completing her look, Midnight wore elbow length gloves with pipettes cleverly attached to the back of her wrists, ready to administer her Quirk with precision. Her steel-toed knee-high boots not only add to her commanding presence but also ensure she's ready for any physical encounter.
Aizawa groaned at the teen's wide eyes as Midnight entered and stood next to him. "You certainly know how to make an entrance," he remarked, eyeing his colleague's new, but R-rated look.
She smirked. "Oh, Shoto, I can see my new outfit caught your attention as well," she playfully teased her colleague, much to his dislike. "I had some help putting some ideas together from that blonde stylist cutie over there," she gestured to Bubbles. Some were looking at her with impressed eyes, while some of the boys were still eyeing their teacher's exquisite outfit.
Aizawa went back to address his class. "Midnight here will be the one in charge of approving your names. I myself am not much of an expert in this matter, so I will sit this one out." He recalled exactly how he'd gotten his Hero Name because of Hizashi back when they were in school. Aizawa pulled his sleeping bag from underneath his desk and walked over to the wall. "Don't bother me until you are all done."
As the homeroom teacher zipped himself up, Midnight lifted up the stack of whiteboards and passed them out to all the rows. "Now this is the chance for you to discover the name that will show yourself to the citizens on the streets. Think about how this name represents you and what you want the world to say when they see you."
Each girl got a board and was thinking about what their names could be.
'…personality?' Bubbles mused to herself.
'…along with our abilities, hmm," Blossom thought to herself.
"No problem," Buttercup said to herself.
Izuku was busy contemplating the hero he wanted to be. The name had to reflect his own growth as a hero. It had to be meaningful, a testament to his journey and his unwavering commitment to making a difference. As he stared at the blank whiteboard before him, a surge of determination coursed through him.
"It has to be more than just a name," he whispered to himself, his thoughts consumed by the weight of his decision. "It has to be a symbol of hope, of resilience."
Izuku's mind raced, recalling the countless trials and tribulations he had faced on his path to becoming a hero. From his days at UA to his encounters with formidable villains, each experience had shaped him into the hero he was meant to be.
"Got it," he said finally, a sense of clarity washing over him. With steady hands, he began to write, the letters forming a name that resonated with his soul.
"Alright, let's start presenting those who have already come up with ideas!" Midnight spoke up at the five-minute mark. Everyone was quite surprised that they would have to present it.
"Who has the balls to go up first?"
The first to present his idea was Aoyama, who confidently stood up before anyone could be called and walked up to the front.
"Hold your breath." Aoyama cautioned his classmates. "The Shining Hero, my name is 'I can not stop twinkling'"! Mon Ami, you can't deny my sparkle!"
'Come on!' Almost the entire class thought as they saw Aoyama's Hero Name.
Midnight taking the board, "It'll be easier to use if you take out the "I" and shorten the "can not" to "can't." she offered the student.
"It's beautiful, thank you, mademoiselle." That made some people wonder about the older hero's tastes.
"I'm up next!" Mina happily skipped over to the front. "My code name: Alien Queen," she proudly showed her board.
"Wait a minute... you mean that horrible monster with acidic blood?!" Midnight exclaimed, her tone tinged with fear. "I don't think so," she added firmly.
"Dang it..." Mina muttered disappointedly as she walked away.
'That one, wasn't okay?' Came the collective thoughts of her classmates.
"Mind if I go next?" Tsuyu raised her hand.
"Come on up!" Midnight agreed while pointing to the Frog Form user.
"I've had this name in mind since Elementary School," Tsuyu turned her whiteboard around. "Rainy Season Hero: Froppy."
"That's delightful!" Midnight gushed. "It makes you sound approachable, what a great example of a name that everyone will love!" Tsuyu croaked happily as she returned to her seat to the cheers of her classmates.
Surprisingly enough, Koda went up next. He was shy but when he looked at the back. Bubbles was sending an encouraging smile. He presented his code name
"Oh my," Midnight exclaimed, her eyes lighting up with approval. " 'The Nature's Hero: Wildheart,' such a fitting title!" She nodded in appreciation, impressed by Koda's choice.
Bubbles beamed proudly from the back, offering silent support to her friend.
"It's perfect," Tsuyu croaked happily, her voice filled with genuine admiration, as she returned to her seat amidst the cheers of her classmates.
Koda couldn't help but smile shyly at the positive reception of his hero title. With newfound confidence, he took his place among his peers, ready to embrace his role as The Nature's Hero: Wildheart.
From there it was mostly smooth sailing. Jiro had named herself after her Quirk with Hearing Hero: Earphone Jack. Momo had chosen the Everything Hero: Creati. Sero was the Taping Hero: Cellophane. Kaminari had proudly declared himself to be the Stun Gun Hero: Charge Bolt. Tokoyami had gone with Jet-Black Hero: Tsukuyomi. Shoji had used a portmanteau with the Tentacle Hero: Tentacole. Toru had gone simple with Stealth Hero: Invisible Girl. Ochako chose Uravity.
And then came Bakugo…
"King Explosion Murder!" Bakugo declared only to be instantly shot down by Midnight.
"No." Midnight shook her head. "Too violent," earning a growl from the short fuse blonde.
"Shoto." Todoroki had just decided to use his name, apparently.
"Just your name? Are you sure?" Midnight raised an eyebrow, looking at the dual-toned boy curiously. After receiving a nod, she gestured for him to return to his seat.
At that moment, the girls stood up and approached the front. Midnight looked on with curiosity. "Oh, you three want to present together?" she asked, to which the girls nodded in unison. "Well, a little unorthodox, but that's just me," she said with a smile, leaving them to it.
"Wait, why are they all presenting together?" whispered one student, leaning in to their neighbor with a quizzical expression.
"I have no idea, but it's definitely different," replied the other, shrugging slightly in confusion.
Blossom took the lead. "So, we each have our own individual names, but as a team, we've chosen a code name," she explained, turning to her sisters with a nod. Each sister then revealed her hero name.
"You can call me Bursting Blossom," Blossom announced confidently.
"...Bouncing Bubbles," Bubbles chimed in cheerfully.
"Blitzing Buttercup," Buttercup declared with determination.
"And together, you can call us The Powerpuff Hero: The Powerpuff Girls!" they proclaimed in unison, standing united, strong, and proud.
In the wake of their announcement, reactions from their classmates varied.
Todoroki could not help but remember such a name from the Sports Festival.
"'Powerpuff Girls'?" Tsu curiously asked, her interest piqued by the familiar name.
"Intriguing indeed," Tokoyami mused to himself, his mind no doubt contemplating the significance of their choice.
Mina, ever playful, couldn't help but express her thoughts. "Um, are you sure guys? Doesn't that sound kind of, childish?" she wondered aloud, a playful grin on her face.
But Blossom, true to her character, defended their choice with determination. "It's a name that we have known since we were five," she stated firmly, her gaze unwavering.
Bubbles, always the optimist, added her perspective. "Yeah! It signifies our own girl power!" she cheerfully announced, her voice filled with conviction.
Buttercup, known for her no-nonsense attitude, couldn't resist a jab. "And it is way better than 'Alien Queen,' huh Pinky?" she retorted, a smirk playing on her lips. Mina could only lower her head in response to the comment, a hint of embarrassment evident on her face.
Izuku liked the name as well.
Midnight witnessed the Powerpuff Girls' cohesive presentation. A soft smile graced her lips, reflecting her approval of their unity and ingenuity. "Well done, girls," she commended, her voice carrying a hint of pride.
As the girls went back to their seats, Buttercup gave him a playful punch to the arm, "Good luck, maybe call yourself green bean," she teasingly smirked. Even with that, Izuku's gaze remained fixed on his creation. This name would define him, inspire others, and serve as a beacon of hope in a world filled with darkness.
Midnight glanced around the classroom, wondering who would be next to present their hero name. Before she could inquire, however, a movement caught her eye.
"Midnight, I'm ready," he announced, a determined smile spreading across his face.
With a nod of approval, Midnight collected the whiteboards, her eyes lingering on Izuku's with a hint of admiration. As the class eagerly awaited their fate, Izuku couldn't help but feel a surge of nervousness.
Izuku's hand hovered over the whiteboard, and with a confident stroke, he wrote:
"The Resilient Hero: Evergreen"
As Izuku's hand confidently inscribed the words "The Resilient Hero: Evergreen" onto the whiteboard, Midnight couldn't resist teasing him. "Alright, Izuku," she began, a playful glint in her eye. "Why 'Evergreen'? Got a thing for trees or something?"
Before Izuku could respond, Kaminari jumped in with a cheeky grin. "Maybe it's because of his hair! You know, always green and spiky-OW!" His comment was abruptly cut off by a swift earphone hit from Jirou.
"Knock it off, Kaminari. Like you're one to talk about spiky hair," Jirou scolded, her tone firm as she shot him a warning glance.
Meanwhile, Buttercup's curiosity was sparked by the name. "Evergreen, huh?" she mused, a thoughtful expression crossing her face. "Why that name, something to do with me calling you green bean?" She chuckled lightly, but Uraraka couldn't shake off a feeling of unease at the remark.
Gathering his thoughts, Izuku cleared his throat, his voice steady and determined as he began to explain. "Well, Midnight," he started, "it's because 'Evergreen' represents my journey of growth. It symbolizes my resilience in the face of adversity and my commitment to always standing tall, providing hope and inspiration to those in need." d
ereef
Midnight would likely respond with a playful quip, acknowledging Izuku's choice while maintaining the light-hearted tone of the conversation. She might say something like, "Ah, the mighty Evergreen, standing tall in the face of villains and bad hair days alike. I like it, Izuku."
"Evergreen," Buttercup would say, her voice reflecting a newfound appreciation for Izuku's determination. "I like it. It's strong, just like you, Izuku." That made the freckled teen even happier.
After, Midoriya walked back towards his seat, he locked eyes with Bakugo for several moments.
"Mmm, this is going more smoothly than I thought it would! All that's left is Iida and Bakugo, who needs to rethink his." Midnight noted.
Iida looked down at his board and began to write, hesitating on the name that had come to his mind. He recalled his brother's request to take on the name Ingenium, but ultimately chose to use his own name instead.
"Are you sure?" Midnight seemed disappointed but accepted it. She was fairly close friends with Tensei. It wouldn't surprise her if he'd asked his little brother to take on the name Ingenium for him. To see Tenya not accept it was somewhat worrying.
"Lord Explosion Murder!" Bakugo declared loudly to the class.
"That's basically the same thing." Midnight stated flatly. "If you can't come up with something less violent, then you'll have to use your own name too." She firmly said
"Why don't you be Explosion Boy?!" Kirishima shouted out a suggestion. Sero and Kaminari both cracked up laughing at the name.
"You shut up, shitty hair!" Bakugo roared back at the other boy. He eventually agreed to just use his name for now, after a few more attempts and variations of the last two names.
"Alright, Eraser, wake up!" Midnight shook their Homeroom Teacher awake. "We've finished with the names!"
"Okay, I'm up," Aizawa blinked for a moment before standing up inside his sleeping bag and then letting it drop down to his waist. "Now that everyone has chosen their Hero Names, we can go back to talking about your internships." He gazed out over his class to make sure they were all paying attention. "They'll last for one week. As for who you'll be working with, those with offers will choose from the ones that were sent to them. Everyone else will have a different list to choose from. You have a lot to think about. There are roughly forty Agencies from around the country that have agreed to take on interns from your class. Each Agency has a different specialty that their Heroes focus on, keep that in mind."
"If you plan to be a Rescue Hero in the future, you'll want to choose an Agency that specializes in that field." Midnight offered a simple example to the class.
"Think carefully before you decide." Aizawa instructed his students.
"Yes, sir!" The class replied in unison.
The bell rang and the lists were passed out for the students to look over during the break before the next class started.
"I wanna fight crime and bad guys in a big city." Kirishima grinned as he looked over his list of offers.
"I'm hoping for a place with a lot of water, maybe a lake?" Tsuyu looked at the list she'd been given thoughtfully.
"Just turn in your choices before the weekend." Aizawa informed them as he and Midnight left the room, the Modern Hero Art History Teacher waving to the kids with a smile.
"We only have a few days?!" Sero cried out in dismay.
"Yes, so you should start now." Aizawa replied flatly before closing the door behind him.
Chatter filled the classroom as the students reviewed the various agency lists. The Powerpuff Girls were engrossed in their discussion about potential agencies.
"What have you girls decided on?" Bubbles inquired.
"Well, I don't know. We've practically done all types of hero work back in Townsville: Rescue, Offense, Defense, and Recon. Though, it would be nice to gain a better understanding from this world's perspective," Blossom said thoughtfully.
"I just wish we could start our own crime-fighting already," Buttercup groaned. "I barely recognize at least 20 of these hero agencies. How the heck am I supposed to choose one to intern at?" she exclaimed in frustration.
"Well, I can help you go over your list and narrow down what suits you best," Blossom offered as she rose from her seat, "and you too, Bubbles."
"Thanks, Bloss," Bubbles said cheerfully.
"Hello, Mr Nezu, sir," a student greeted, drawing the girls' attention to the animal principal standing at the door.
"Hello, students. I trust you're all doing well," he received favourable responses as he approached the three students, "Hello, ladies. I hope you don't mind, but may we have a chat? It's about something regarding the internship," he said with an inviting smile. The girls were a little confused but went along with it.
As the girls left, some of their classmates couldn't help but wonder about their meeting with the principal. "Hm, I hope they're not in trouble…" Izuku thought to himself, "Deku," but his thoughts were interrupted by Uraraka's voice.
He turned with a slightly startled face, "Oh, hey Uraraka… sorry, I was just lost in thought," he said sheepishly.
"Yeah, I understand. You're always like that," she giggled, but there was a slight unease in her expression.
"Hey, are you okay?" he asked with concern.
"…Y-yeah, I mean, I love your new name, but I thought you were going to choose the name Deku?" she said.
Izuku realized, sliding the door open, "Oh yeah, but I mean—"
"I AM HERE IN A PRECARIOUS POSITION!"
"All Might!?" Midoriya gasped as his idol suddenly slid in front of the door, blocking him. "Wh-what are you doing here?"
"Something important to discuss!" All Might waved him to follow. "Please… if you could join me?"
They two walked until they stopped, "So I heard that you got some offers from the Sports Festival, eh?" All Might asked his protégé.
"O-oh yes, I did! I am happy to get offers from Pro heroes who see potential in me!" Izuku excitedly told his teacher.
"Whoa there… that's nice. Don't know if they are all good choices. But I do have a hero offer that you may need to consider," he said, feeling nervous at the thought of what he was about to say.
"An offer!? Really?" Midoriya was shocked at the information All Might told him in a side hallway alone.
All Might's back was now turned to the teen as he stared at the wall on the side. "Yes. It is an old friend of my master from a while back. His name is Gran Torino."
"Gran Torino?" Midoriya had not heard of this hero before, but he was still excited to know someone else who was interested in him. "Wait… he was a friend of your master?"
"Yes. He knows about my quirk, One for All as well. He retired a long time ago… So I forgot to mention him in the list of people that know about it."
"Whoa, really!? Wow, if he knows about One for All, then that means he can teach me to work on it more!" Midoriya thought deeply in excitement. "I can't wait to meet this hero!" He looked back at his teacher but was shocked to see something he had never seen.
All Might was shivering!
"Why did he call back after all this time? Did he see the festival and think I failed!?" All Might mumbled to himself and slapped his trembling legs. "Stop shaking, damn it! I-It's probably no big deal, he can't be mad, can he? Oh shit, why did I write that letter to him!?"
Midoriya felt his own brow sweating at the sight of his idol shaking. "If All Might is worried… How scary is this guy!?"
Author's Notes:
Hello everyone. I want to first say a few things.
1) I present to you…THE POWERPUFF HEROES! This is my introduction of the wonderful trio we all know and love! I gave them hero names, inspired by the Powerpuff Girls Z, and bounced some ideas here and there.
2) I also gave Koda and Izuku a new hero name. I ABSOLUTELY HATE THE NAME DEKU! I don't understand why using it is a way of taking back the meaning; it's essentially like branding yourself with your bully's taunts. Also, not many people will take it seriously. But, that's just me…and my fanfiction.
3) I understand that not many people like the whole bashing part of my fic, but I don't care. I am happy that you all take the time to read and give me your honest opinions and cool remarks, but I don't appreciate heckling; though that comes with being a fanfiction writer.
4) In the internships, I need some ideas. So, I want to essentially write a pro-hero for both Blossom and Momo, any ideas for one or both of them together?
