Chapter 4: Sleep Paralysis

Mackenzie's House:

It was 12:00 midnight. Mackenzie was laying his back on his bed trying to sleep. His bloated stomach was rumbling all night and both his hands were gripping the bed sheets as he was sweating and still in serious pain. Then he opens his eyes and notices that his body had gone paralyzed. "What happened? Why can't I move?" Mackenzie said in his thoughts unable to speak since he was trapped inside his own body. "Mum! Dad! Help Me!" Mackenzie yelled but was still not able to move or talk. "Why is this happening to me? I can't feel my body." Mackenzie heard a creak from his closet door and the creepy mop pup comes out with a blank look on her face and starts to climb over on Mackenzie's bed and crawls on top of him. Mackenzie who was still unable to move was sweating and very terrified by the mop pup who was sitting on top of his paralyzed body. Then the mop pup gapes open her mouth like a snake and shows off her nightmarish sharp teeth and lunges at Mackenzie. Mackenzie then screams and quickly sits up from his bed breathing heavily and realizing that he can move again. Then he falls back on his pillow feeling very exhausted.

Glasshouse primary school:

All the kids were playing inside the school and Calypso was making a red bracelet made of yarn. Meanwhile, Mackenzie was slouching his head against the wall. Since he did not have a good sleep last night. He was rubbing his bloated belly as it had gotten more bigger. Then Rusty and Jack both walk up to him noticing that he was sitting there doing nothing.

"Hey, Mackenzie. Do you want to play toy soldiers with me and Jack?" Rusty said asking the Border Collie to play with both him and Jack. Then Mackenzie Sighs and starts rubbing his eye. "No thanks, I didn't sleep well last night." Then Rusty and Jack started to notice that Mackenzie's belly has gotten way bigger than last time. "Whoa, Mackenzie? You look like your about to give birth at any second now." Rusty pointing out as Mackenzie opens his eyes in disbelief hearing what Rusty just said about his bloated stomach. "Yeah, Mackenzie? Are you Pregnant?" Jack said messing with the border collie. "Shut Up! I'm not pregnant! , I-I've been gaining a little bit of weight that's all." Mackenzie said as he had gotten up from his spot and turns his back on Rusty and Jack as he was very insecure about how big his stomach had gotten and was very embarrassed by it. Then Mackenzie starts feeling a massive headache and starts to feel his intestines squirming inside him. "Ugghh" My head hurts and my tummy's been acting weird lately." Mackenzie put his right hand on his aching head and his left hand on his bloated belly rubbing it. "Yup, Your definitely pregnant." Jack said bringing up the idea that Mackenzie might be pregnant.

"I'M NOT PREGNANT!" Mackenzie yelled at Rusty and Jack as he loses his patience with them. Then his stomach starts rumbling and feels a sharp pain. He grabs his stomach with his arms and turns his back on both of his friends again. "Just...Leave me alone." Mackenzie said begging Rusty and Jack to leave him alone. Then Rusty and Jack both walk away from Mackenzie and play without him.

Mackenzie leans his back against the wall. And slides down to sit on the floor. Then he starts to sweat and starts to feel shortness of breath in his lungs. Calypso goes up him to check if he's okay. "Hey, Mackenzie is everything alright?" Calypso said as she was kneeling down at the border collie's level. "I...just...need...to catch...my breath. Mackenzie said struggling to breathe as his body starts to burn up. Then Calypso puts her hand on Mackenzie's forehead. "My goodness! your burning up!" Calypso said very shocked about how Mackenzie's body has risen up to dangerous temperatures. "Hold on, I'm gonna call your parents to come over and pick you up." Calypso stands up runs to the phone to call Mackenzie's parents meanwhile Mackenzie's fur was drenched in his own sweat.

Mackenzie's house

Mackenzie's mother tucks in her son into his bed for him to rest up. "Ok, Mackenzie just stay in your bed while I go get some medicine for you stomach, Okay?" Then Mackenzie's mother walks out to get the medication meanwhile Mackenzie is laying in his bed feeling his anxiety kicking in.

Mackenzie's father was downstairs using the computer and looking up for some professional doctors to try and contact in order to help his son.

Brisbane hospital

It is 5:00 in the afternoon and Calypso was in the room where the mop pup is in still trying to recover. Calypso was sitting on the chair close to the pup. "Here, I've made something for you." Calypso said reaching for her bag and grabs a red bracelet she made earlier. She gently holds the mop pup's right hand and puts the bracelet on. Even though the mop pup could not see the bracelet or even know how to smile, she knew that this complete stranger was showing her the love she'd never received throughout her life. But she didn't understand why she was being so nice to her.

Then there was a knock at the door of the room. Dr. Schnauzer comes in to ask Calypso something. "Hey Calypso, Do you mind coming outside for a minute?"

"Oh, Okay." Calypso then gets up from her chair and pets the mop pup's head. "I'll be right back okay, honey?" Calypso then leaves the mop pup by herself and walks out of the room to find two Brisbane police officers. A Rottweiler and a German Shepherd Mix in their police uniforms. "Calypso, these officers would like to speak with you in regards of the mop pup your students discovered. " Dr. Schnauzer said as she got the police involved for the investigation. "Oh, Yes, of course" Calypso said very thankful that the cops came to investigate how the mop pup was discovered. "So, you must be Calypso the teacher, right?" Officer Rottweiler said

"Uh, Yes I am." Calypso respond

"We came to investigate the 2 year old mop pup you and your students discovered, right?" Officer Rottweiler said taking is notebook and pen out to write down some notes.

"Yes, So the day I discovered her I was outside of my school watching my three other students building a small cabin and I heard one of my five other students call for my name and told me that they had just found the little one all by herself and said that she could be lost and that's when I called the ambulance.

Calypso explained to the police officer as he writes on his notebook. "Okay, What did she look like when you discovered her."

Then Calypso begins to tear up at the image of the mop pup in such terrible condition that popped in her head. Then she takes and deep breath trying to calm herself down. "Well, When I saw her she was all covered in dirt from head to toe. Her fur was knotted and covered in fleas and bugs. Her claws were very long and she looked very malnourished. I don't understand how could anyone abandoned such a helpless, innocent child like this. "Calypso said as she was crying her eyes out.

The sight of how the mop pup was when discovered by her students was something she did not want to think about as she has a strong love for children and hates to see them hurt or not being taken care of or in this case neglected and abandoned.

"Listen, I know this is very hard to talk about. But in order to figure this out we need you to cooperate with us, Okay?" Officer Rottweiler said putting his hand on Calypso's shoulder to comfort her understanding that this was a tough pill to swallow when talking about the situation. Calypso then clears her throat and wipes the tears off her face.

"So, Did any of your students recognize her from anywhere?" Officer Rottweiler said wondering if anyone in the school recognizes the mop pup. "No, none of my students recognized her at all. I didn't recognized her from anywhere not even in the school's location." Calypso said knowing that nobody from her school recognizes the mop pup or knew who she even was. "Hmm, I see. Well, We may have to put this in our records and contact the chief. In the meantime we would like to contact some of your students who discovered her if you would like to give us their address. Officer Rottweiler puts his notebook and pen in his pockets. "Uh, Yes I'll give you their address. Calypso said uncomfortable to give the two officers some of her student's address but knew that this was something the police needed to do as they investigate the matter.
