Meanwhile, at home, Mike was busy holding his daughter, Emma. Veruca was away. As he was waiting for her to come back from her therapy session, he sat in the rocking chair that was in her nursery. His ears perked up once he heard the front door open, close and shut. It only mean one thing, Veruca is home! Mike got up holding Emma in his arms,he went straight downstairs to greet his wife.

"Hey honey, how was the therapy appointment?",asked Mike.

He approached his wife and quickly noticed that Veruca was looking down.

"Veruca is everything okay?", he asked again.

Veruca looked directly at Mike. She smiled a bit once she saw her baby daughter, Emma. Emma was snuggled into her fathers arms. When Veruca met her husband's eyes, her small smile turned into a frown.

"Mike.I'm thinking about cutting both of my parents out of my life." ,confessed Veruca.

"What!?" Mike shouted

Nancy, their housekeeper came into to the room.

"Is everything okay?,asked Nancy

Mike lookd over at Nancy as he handed her Emma.

"Nancy, do you mind taking Emma back up to her nursery?" ,he asked.

Nancy nodded in agreement.

"Of course Mr.Teavee.",she said.

She picked up Emma to walk upstairs and place her back to her nursery. Once Nancy and Emma were gone,Mike turned to Veruca.

"Veruca ,why would you want to cut your parents .."

Veruca responded with a shrug.

"It's just I can't take it anymore, Mike that my home life has been dysfunctional forever and I had it,I don't want either one of my parents near my daughter anyway and I don't know how they would treat her as she grows up." Explained Veruca

.Mike went silent as he did not know what to say

"Veruca, they are still your parents, they are our family, Emma deserves to have both sets of her grandparents in her life.",explained Mike.

"Mike, how is my side of the family going to be a good influence on her? My mom turned out to have secrets that she kept from me and my father almost tried to put my daughter up for adoption and, also, slapped me. How do you think they would set up as good examples for Emma?",said Veruca

Mike blinked once or twice

"What do you mean your mom kept secrets?",asked Mike

"Mike, her and my dad had been having issues in their marriage way before I was born.The reason why my mom stayed with my dad for so long was because she wanted me to have both a mom and dad in my life but as she knows things quickly spiraled out of control." ,said Veruca

"Wow.",said Mike.

He was surprised to what he heard.

"But Veruca they are still your parents. They are also Emma's grandparents. You can't cut them off. How do you think that Emma would feel by not knowing your side of the family?",asked Mike.

"I think it would help her if she doesn't know them.",said Veruca

She headed upstairs and into the bedroom. Mike was left in silence. He didn't know what to do. That was when he ran to an empty area of the house to pull out his phone to dial in a number.
