Harry Couldn't believe that he had to have a date for the Yule Ball. It made sense but still didn't sit well with him. He was never one for dancing. His aunt Petunia tried to teach Dudley how when they were kids and used him as an example which was never very delightful. Nor easy. To put it lightly he wasn't very skilled at dancing he could sway but those dancing lessons never did help much. It didn't help that his aunt would always glare at him and snap at him if he got it wrong. Eventually his uncle tried showing Dudley how to dance…that didn't work either. He may have stopped Voldemort from getting the philosopher's stone, killed a basilisk in his second year, produced a Patronus charm at thirteen, and now competed in a deadly challenge that could literally kill him and yet he didn't love that fact he had to dance in front of everyone. Believe it or not he didn't love crowds. Even though everyone knew him as the boy who lived and may have thought he was an attention seeking and pathological liar due to Rita Skeeter's articles it was far from the truth. He could remember when Lockhart pulled in for a picture and Draco Malfoy thought he loved it. But he really didn't. It was uncomfortable to stay the least. When Ron thought he put his name in the goblet of fire it was a nail in the coffin. In all honesty he just wanted to be left alone and for someone, anyone to believe him. But for Harry Potter nothing was that simple, was it?

Harry kept contemplating about who he should ask to the dance. He left the McGonagall office feeling confused as he walked out of her office he turned the corner and collided with someone else. He had been completely lost in thought that he hadn't noticed a certain red head right in front of him. And so he knocked into her, causing her books as well as his to fly out of her hands. She landed right on top of him with a loud thud. She let out a yelp. Her brown eyes went wide as she realized she had fallen on top of him. Their faces were inches apart, Harry's voice was caught in his throat, he didn't know what to say or do. He couldn't help but stare into her chocolate brown eyes. Ginny had a similar reaction. She tried to say something but her voice died away. She looked mesmerized as she stared at his emerald eyes. Her eyes flickered from his eyes to his lips and she looked as if she was about to lean in but pulled away quickly and yet she still hadn't tried to move from the position. They both laid frozen, unsure who should move first or how to approach the situation.

Harry spoke up first, surprisingly, "Do you umm… mind?" Harry tried to motion for her to move first. His voice sounded apologetic and awkward.

Ginny looked awkward as well, "Oh right, of course." She blushed, she looked embarrassed. Ginny moved her hands away and stood up. After she situated herself she reached her hand out for Harry to help him up.

Harry gladly took her hand and thanked her.

"You're welcome." She paused but then said, "It's the least I can do after knocking into you." She stated, politely.

Harry looked at her confused, "The least you can do for…me? I'm the one who wasn't watching where they were going. It's my own fault, I'm sorry I knocked into you." The pair started to walk the halls with one another. Luckily since it was the weekend no classes were being held at the moment in other words, they had all the time in the world or they wouldn't be interrupted as much.

Ginny rolled her eyes, "You know you don't always have to be a noble git all the time, you know?"

"What?" Harry asked, taken aback.

"You don't have to always blame yourself or think it's your fault because it's not."

"Wha-" Ginny cut him off, "I'm not only talking about this, you know?" She turned to face him.

Harry sighed, "We don't have to talk about this if you don't want to, all I'm saying is give yourself some more credit or credit to that luck of yours." She laughed and Harry laughed as well. His luck really wasn't that good.

"I can promise you that my luck isn't as good as you think it is." He laughed.

"Oh really?" She questioned jokingly.

"Well if my luck was so good I wouldn't have knocked into you, eh?"

Ginny gave him a look and rolled her eyes. "And I bet if you read Skeeter's articles she'd say otherwise too."

Ginny's face said it all she knew exactly what he was talking about. "Her articles are a bunch of nonsense."

The pair headed towards the outside of the school and on the grounds. "Well I'm glad somebody thinks so." Harry kicked a nearby rock, "I just don't get how no one sees how it's load of rubbish."

Ginny took a deep breath, "I don't either." Harry couldn't help but smile, he enjoyed how easy it was to talk to her. It wasn't as much of a struggle to talk to her compared to other girls or people in general. Harry could be a bit awkward but with Ginny he didn't feel that as much. He felt comfortable and calm around her. And he liked how he could laugh and make jokes. He liked that he didn't have to worry about saying the wrong thing or making a fool out of himself around her. It was nice for a change. He liked how she didn't push him but would speak her mind and wouldn't scold him for what he would say or do. He also liked how she was genuine and cute. 'Wait what?' he thought. He couldn't think that this is Ron's little sister but she's more than that. She is her own person, she's strong, funny, and brave. Ginny snapped Harry out of his thoughts.

"Harry?"

"Yeah?"

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah I was just lost in thought?"

'What were you thinking about?" She inquired.

"Oh I was thinking about the Yule Ball." He couldn't tell her he was thinking about her h didn'r want to lie but he thought it'd be weird to talk to her about well her. And he had been thinking about his dilemma with the Yule Ball premier to all of this anyway.

She looked like she didn't quite believe him but she didn't push the subject. "What is the long face for?"

"I'm not sure who to take."

"You aren't?"

"Yeah, I'm not very popular these days with the whole goblet of fire fiasco." Ginny nodded in understanding.

"Well if it means anything I think it was stupid of them not to believe you. Anyone with any brains knows you wouldn't. If they truly know you they know you wouldn't love it."

"Thanks Ginny, I'm glad someone believes me." Ginny smiled warmly at him.

"Are you going to go to the Yule Ball?"

"No, not unless someone older asks me." She paused but then continued to say, " Personally I think third years should be able to go."

"Couldn't agree more."

Ginny looked over at Harry with hopeful eyes. Harry thought to himself, 'I should take Ginny. She's kind, funny, caring, brave, and cute. (Ron will kill me if he knew I thought that)' Harry felt since bumping into her he's seen a whole new side to him. He knew from what Ron said she used to have a crush on him and she wouldn't ever shut up. So in other words it was nice seeing that part of her that wouldn't blush furiously or run when she saw him or only like the boy-who-lived. He enjoyed spending time with her and knew if he'd take her to the ball he'd enjoy every second and she would too. Harry liked how she made him laugh and smile and how he felt like Harry, not the boy-who-lived. He knew he had to ask her no matter what Ron or her other brothers thought. Harry plucked up his Gryffindor courage and asked, "Ginny, will you go to the Yule Ball with me?"

Her eyes lit up, "Yes!" She threw her arms around his neck. He froze for a split second but returned the hug gladly. He wasn't used to being hugged. The Dursley's were never very affectionate and the only two other people who have hugged him were Hermione or Mrs. Weasley. But this felt different; it made him feel warm and comforted inside. It made him feel good as he wrapped his arms around her waist. He couldn't help but smile as she did so.

After a minute Ginny pulled away she looked apologetic but Harry stopped her, "Don't worry, that was nice, I'm very happy to be going with you as well." A smile spread across her freckled face. And he couldn't help but return the smile.

The End.

A/N: Should I continue this and make more parts? Or should I leave it here?

Edit to A/N: I saw that some people responded to my author's note at the end of the story and I thought I'd let you all know I've decided to write multiple chapters for this story. Yesterday I came up with the idea for this story and I started to write it but then there was a power outage so I couldn't finish what I was thinking of doing. At least on my desktop I couldn't but my sibling gave me an idea that I could just write it on paper. At first I was hesitant but then I was still in the mood to write and I didn't have anything better to do so I started writing the rest of the chapter. As well as the next chapter. The only problem was I didn't love how the second chapter went so that's when I thought I'd see what other people thought of course I thought this after I transferred and added the first chapter to my desktop. But thanks to you all I made up my mind and remapped my plans for the next chapter. But in doing so I came up with some vague but good ideas for chapter 2,3,4, and an epilogue. So in other words I will be continuing this story and I hope you all enjoy! I would appreciate it so much if you would review and if you have any ideas let me know! And if you have any questions feel free to review or PM me!
