A/N: Sorry for the late update I've been busy working on other books.
"Aw crud." Ben says worriedly as the group stands up as and tries to move only for Darius to grab him and Alexis.
"Wait. Now!" Darius shouts as the raptor runs at them before they move at the last minute allowing it to jump into the house as they dodge it's attack.
"Run!" Alexis shouts as the group begins running.
"Go, go, go!" Ben shouts as the group jumps into Darius's vehicle as a raptor corners them in the vehicle.
"I left the keys in the cabin." Darius says worriedly as Alexis and Darius look at him in alarm.
"Are you kidding me? My van's just down that way." Ben says.
"But how do we get to it with that thing outside?" Alexis asks worriedly looking at the raptor.
"Put it in neutral. We can roll there. Three, two, one... Now!" Ben says as Darius puts his vehicle in gear and causes the vehicle to roll toward Ben's vehicle with the raptor right behind them before they narrowly make it into the other vehicle and close the door as Ben begins to drive the group away.
"Oh no!" Alexis says in alarm as the group sees the raptors are chasing the vehicle.
"Hang on." Ben says as he begins trying to lose the raptors giving a rough ride to Darius and Alexis.
"Ben!" Darius shouts angrily.
"I'm trying! This wasn't on the driver's test." Ben says worriedly.
"Don't these things quit? What are they wanting from us?" Alexis asks.
"If they want food there are way easier ways to get it. I think we lost 'em." Darius says before one of the raptors runs up to beside his window and roars scaring the group before Ben drives off road and gets back on the main road losing the creature.
"That was entirely too close." Alexis says in relief as the group sees they lost the raptors as Ben clears his throat and looks at Darius.
"What? It still doesn't prove we're being hunted." Darius says.
"Are you kidding me?" Ben asks annoyedly.
"I don't know. It just seems like a really big leap." Darius says in disbelief.
"Darius, Darius, Darius..." Ben says.
"Those raptors could have been attracted to the lights or... something. Except..." Darius says.
"What is it Darius?" Alexis asks.
"The raptors... They looked like Atrociraptors. That makes no sense. I don't think any were released from the Lockwood Estate." Darius says in shock.
"See? Even more proof." Ben says determinedly.
"I wouldn't call that proof." Darius says.
"So you think it was a coincidence they showed up at your door the exact same night Alexis and I did?" Ben asks.
"Well maybe." Darius says.
"Was it also a coincidence the bells and cans in your alarm fence were cut down? Because it certainly wasn't me and Ben who did that." Alexis says annoyedly.
"Okay that was weird." Darius says.
"I'm telling you someone is after us." Ben says.
"But why? Who would even want to do that?" Darius asks.
"I don't know for sure but I've got some theories. Check 'em out if you want. They're in the back." Ben says as Darius goes into the back of the vehicle and begins to look around before coming back and sitting in his seat.
"Okay first of all real talk. Are you eating food out of a boot?" Darius asks.
"Oh he is. Trust me I'm disgusted too and that's not even the worst of what he's been doing." Alexis says as she shivers at the thought.
"We need to talk about that. And second Big Shaving Cream behind it all? What the heck are these?" Darius asks as he holds up a posted note.
"They're theories. Some are from that website and some are my own. At this point we can't rule out any possibilities. But right now it doesn't matter who is hunting us. What matters is that they are." Ben says as he takes the note.
"Hypothetically." Darius says.
"But we can't take that chance. The messages I told you about from Dark Jurassic? Whoever sent them threatened all of us." Ben says before Darius pulls out his phone.
"Fine. I'll call Sammy." Darius says.
"Darius you may want to... Put your phone away before Ben gets ahold of it." Alexis says as Ben grabs Darius's phone and chucks it out the window.
"Wha..." Darius says in shock.
"Phones are traceable. They're not safe." Ben says.
"You could have turned it off." Darius says annoyedly.
"Well phones are still traceable when they're turned off. I think. Right?" Ben asks.
"No." Darius says.
"Huh. I could have sworn. I guess we could have looked that up but... Not anymore... Actually, it's pretty cold. Just gonna... roll this up." Ben says as he rolls up his window.
"I feel your annoyance. Dude did it to me an hour after we got on the road to go see you." Alexis says.
"How exactly do you plan to warn everyone if we don't have ? You learn telepathy on that website?" Darius asks annoyedly.
'No. Back there. Care package from Sammy. Return address is right on the front. She'll know where everyone is." Ben says.
"So we're going to Texas?" Darius asks.
"Yee-haw." Ben says.
*Timeskip*
Later as Alexis is sleeping she soon gets woke up by the van jerking.
"Whoa! What's going on?" Alexis asks in alarm.
"Ben thought we were being followed." Darius says unamused.
"Okay so... Maybe it wasn't following us." Ben says as Alexis and Darius give him annoyed looks.
*Timeskip*
"Ruby Rope?" Ben asks as he holds a bucket of ruby rope licorice up to Darius.
"I'd rather have a bathroom." Darius says as Ben eats the last of the ruby ropes and hands Darius the container much to his annoyance.
"What? I've done it dozens of times." Ben says nonchalantly as Darius drops the container and looks at Alexis.
"Yeah. Now you know what I've been dealing with for the past few weeks. I love my brother but stuff like that not so much." Alexis says as she has her arms crossed before the group hears beeping.
"What was that?" Darius asks.
"Nothing." Ben says.
"Are we out of gas?" Darius asks.
"No. Not for 37 miles." Ben says.
"Dude, we have to stop. Look whatever's going on we'll be quick. I promise. Thank you. Then we can get some real licorice not this fake stuff." Darius says as he smiles.
"Amen to that." Alexis says as she smiles as Ben groans annoyedly.
*Timeskip*
"Another Nasutoceratops?" Ben asks as the group sees a dinosaur laying by the gas pumps of a gas station.
"A younger one but big. They must be migrating from up north." Darius says.
"Maybe we should find another place to stop." Ben says.
"Absolutely not." Alexis says annoyedly.
"Benjamin if you don't pull over I'll jump out of your moving van. Is that what you want?" Darius asks as he smiles.
"I second that motion. Pull over please." Alexis says.
"Okay, okay. I'm pulling over." Ben says as Alexis and Darius get out of the van and head toward the building.
"I'll get us some drinks and snacks. Meet you outside." Alexis says.
"Gotcha." Darius says as Alexis heads inside and grabs some stuff before looking outside and seeing Darius ahead inside and Ben acting weird.
"Ben acting paranoid again?" Alexis asks.
"You don't know the half of it. I don't get how you put up with it sometimes." Darius says.
"He's my brother. Adoptive but all the same my family. Though even his paranoia gets on my nerves at times too. Some of this stuff I believe and some of it I really think is his nerves." Alexis says.
"You and me both girl. Did you get the snacks?" Darius asks.
"Yeah but there's no one here to pay for anything." Alexis says as she and Darius look outside and see a man.
"He's not outside. I'll go talk to him." Darius says.
"Alright." Alexis says as she watches Darius go outside and talk to the man as Ben continues acting paranoid before Alexis shakes her head and goes out and over to Ben.
"You three look familiar." The man says as he looks at the group.
"Oh um yeah, we're kinda..." Darius says.
"Probably just have one of those faces. Uh three of those faces." Ben says.
"No. I know you. You're those kids who were on that island. The something seven." The man says.
"Nublar Seven." Darius says.
"Yeah, yeah, good talk. We really gotta go. Let's move. I don't trust them." Ben says as he pulls Alexis and Darius away from the man.
"The gas station attendant?" Darius asks.
"I heard them on the phone. They called someone about us." Ben says.
"Dude they called someone about the dinosaur." Darius says.
"Or they're trying to stall us." Ben says annoyedly.
"Ben will you stop for a second? There's no one following us okay? No one is tracking our phones and a gas station attendant in the middle of nowhere is not out to get us. You gotta stop this dude." Darius saysas be puts his hand on Ben's shoulder.
"Don't you think I want to? But I can't. Someone threatened us. We got attacked by raptors. Who knows where we're safe? If we'll ever be safe again? I thought you'd understand but you're sticking your head in the sand. Just like you did when she died." Ben says as Alexis looks at him annoyedly.
"Ben!" Alexis says.
"No Alexis. He's right. You're right. I did hide. But I'm not hiding now. I'm here with you aren't I? Because despite what I've seen and what makes sense I do trust you. Why can't you trust me too?" Darius asks before the dinosaur gets up yawning and begins scratching its horns against some metal poles on the gas pumps.
"What's it doing?" The man asks.
"Sharpening its horns." Alexis, Darius and Ben say in union before the group sees the dinosaur has its horn stuck in the poles.
"Uh-oh. It's stuck." Alexis says.
"We gotta get it out of here before it takes down this whole place." Ben says.
"What?!" The man asks in alarm.
"Maybe these shrubs can lure it away?" Darius asks.
"You know Nasutoceratops don't eat desert shrubs." Ben says.
"Well you got a better idea?" Darius asks.
"Where are you going Ben?" Alexis asks as Ben begins to head toward the building.
"There's gotta be something in there." Ben says as he heads inside.
"We'll try to keep it calm." Darius says as he and Alexis go toward the freaking out dinosaur.
"Hey it's okay. Don't be afraid bud. We won't hurt you." Alexis says as she puts her hand on the dinosaur.
"It's okay. We got you. Just relax and we'll all get through this together." Darius says before Ben comes running back outside.
"Darius. Catch." Ben says as he tosses Darius a bag of snack food.
"Onyi-Os?" Darius asks as he looks at the bag.
"It's all they had." Ben says.
"Darius: Mm! Yummy Onyi-Os." Darius says as he opens the bag to get the dinosaurs attention while Ben and Alexis try to free the dinosaur before it's parents show up in the distance.
"Oh that's not good." Alexis says as the baby dinosaur begins to freak out more hearing it's parents.
"No, no, no! It's all good. Just calm down." Darius says in alarm before the dinosaur knocks Ben away and spills some oil which causes a fire due to sparks from the poles as the dinosaur tries to free it's horn.
"Get a fire extinguisher!" Alexis shouts as the man runs off as the fire begins to spread as the man comes back with a fire extinguisher.
"We gotta hurry!" Darius says as the group gets the dinosaur lose before Ben quickly uses the fire extinguisher to put out the fire as the baby dinosaur goes over to it's parents.
"Well ain't that a pretty sight." Alexis says as the group watches the dinosaurs leave.
"Thanks. I ain't ever been that scared in my life. Tell me something. How did you kids survive out there? How were you not terrified all the time?" The man asks as he walks over.
"Who says we weren't?" Alexis asks as Ben gives the fire extinguisher back to the man.
"Kinda never really goes away. You just gotta learn to not let the fear control you. Plus we had each other." Ben says as he smiles.
"We should probably get going huh?" Darius asks.
"Yeah." Ben says.
"You're not getting away that easily. You gotta stock up on snacks. On the house. Least I can do since you saved my life. And my business." The man says as he comes back out with bags filled with snacks and drinks and hands them to Alexis.
"Thank you sir. We appreciate this." Alexis says as the group gets back in the van after Ben fills the gas tank up.
"Okay guess I was wrong about them too. Just don't drink too much or we'll be stopping every five minutes." Ben says.
"A guy has to go to the bathroom one time and never hears the end of it." Darius says as Ben laughs.
"To Sammy's?" Alexis asks.
"To Sammy's." Ben and Darius say as Ben pulls out some Twibblers.
"Ooh you got the good stuff." Darius says.
"Debatable. Ruby Ropes rule. But if you like the clearly inferior Twibblers who am I to judge?" Ben asks as the group begins driving away.
"Have you ever even tried them?" Darius asks as he opens the pouch.
"No." Alexis says as she chuckles before Darius gives her and Ben a twibbler.
"Yeah those are... Whoa those are... Wow. You win." Ben says happily as Darius chuckles as Alexis smiles at him.
"Told you." Darius says as he eats on the twibblers.
"Thanks Darius for coming with us and keeping me grounded." Ben says as he smiles.
"Of course. We gotta stick together. Hey. I thought this was my peace offering." Darius says as Ben tries to get another twibbler.
"You're right. You're right." Ben says as he smiles causing Alexis to chuckle at the two.
"Mm!" Darius says as Ben laughs.
"You're not just gonna eat that in front of me." Darius says as the group playfully laughs.
