"Our relationship..." Skye began before Ryder interrupted her. "I know. Your relationship with Chase has dwindled. Well, not your friendship. It's obviously still pretty strong, but your romance seems to have faded. I've noticed you and Chase trying to talk to each other twice, but failing. So you two can talk here." Ryder informed them.

Skye blinked gratefully up at her human friend. "Thanks, Ryder!" She beamed at him. He was considerate of her feelings. Why did I ever think he or anyone else in this Patrol would abandon me for how I feel? They're not that inconsiderate.

Skye took a deep breath. "Chase..." she began. Chase smiled, but it was not a somber one. "Yes I know. And I feel the same. We are not meant for each other, Skye. We were meant for other dogs. You understand that, don't you? You told me we don't have the same spark anymore, and we don't. However, I do still want to be your friend. So how's about it? We break up and date other dogs, but still remain friends?" Chase suggested.

Skye was a little surprised by this reaction. He wants to break up, but still be friends? She thought that she had ruined their relationship by saying she didn't have the same spark, or that Chase would tell her to give it more time. She was not expecting him to be the one to tell her they were meant for other dogs.

Skye nodded with a grateful smile. "Of course, Chase! I value your friendship more than anything! We must break up!" Skye wanted their friendship to be intact. She didn't want to ruin their friendship by prolonging their breakup, or make Chase unhappy.

She wasn't happy with their relationship. She had only realized her yesterday, but it was a start.

It's a fresh new start. There's plenty of other pups out there in the world. Of course there's still a few pups who aren't dating anyone including Tracker, Rex, Tuck, and Rocky. Of course, there's also Zuma, but he's already told me he's found his interests elsewhere. Rubble might be another good option, but I don't know. I don't think I can think of him as more than a brother. Same with Tracker. Marshall's already dating Ella, so he's out of the question. Hmm...well I don't need to search for love right now. I can just party like the single lady I am!

Skye threw one of her paws in the air like a fist. She was happy to no longer be in such a relationship anymore. She didn't want to lie to Chase about her feelings. Being with him as a lover just didn't feel the same like it did that year ago.

"So, do you have feelings for someone else?" Rocky asked him with clear interest. Chase straightened up shocked before clearing his throat. "Uhm, yes." He replied, his eyes staring at the ground as his paw went to his face to cover up his embarrassed expression. "And I would like to keep that a secret. I'm sorry guys, but I'm too embarrassed to admit who is it and..." Chase began before Marshall put a paw to his muzzle.

A smile formed it's way on the Dalmatian's snout. Pure respect in the dog's eyes. This pup was truly Chase's best friend. Even if best friend's tell each other secrets, sometimes it's nice to know someone wouldn't push you to do things you aren't comfortable with. Sometimes it's okay, but Chase was sensitive. He wasn't just that big stoic strong dog who was serious with most everything; he was a dog with feelings. Just like any other member of the Paw Patrol. Marshall was just respecting his boundaries.

Skye smiled. It's admirable to have such a friend like that. She thought as she looked down at Everest.

I hope that our friendship is like that one day. But she lives miles away from us, so it's harder to see each other. Everest, I hope you're okay. And I hope you heard our conversation and smile knowing that I will be truly happy once you wake up.

She felt a light tap on her shoulder, and looked up from Everest's body. Her eyes met with orange-brown eyes. Skye smiled when she saw Rocky, but immediately it turned into slight confusion when she saw Rocky's paw moving anxiously.

Worry flashed in her eyes briefly. Was something the matter? "Rocky, are you okay? Do I make you anxious?" She asked him softly.

The mixed breed has done so much for her. To Skye it felt like he went above and beyond to assure her that in end it didn't matter who she would date, everyone would accept it in the end. I hope.

Skye didn't know how they would tell the good citizens of Adventure Bay the news. They were the ones who encouraged the relationship in the first place. Well, besides Mayor Goodway of course, but Skye knew she wanted that out of the goodness of her beast and not like the shipper nature that the rest of the citizens seemed to have.

Rocky shook his head. "No, no. It had nothing to do with you. You're amazing." He complimented before looking away. "It's just...no. Now's an inappropriate time to tell you. It's just...I really like you Skye. I'm glad you and Chase broke up. You seem really happy now." Rocky commented, his words forceful as if he was trying to contain words.

Skye was wondering about that. She was glad she broke up with Chase too, but why was Rocky glad about it? Maybe because it wasn't bad? Skye shrugged. Rocky's odd behavior could have a number of different meanings. For now, she'll let it slide, but would ask him later.

"Yeah, Rocky, I am! Thank you so much for helping me. It might not have been much, but I still appreciate you encouraging me to follow my heart." She gratefully said.

Rocky smiled in response, glancing at the ground. "It's my pleasure, Skye." His tail started wagging a bit.

"Your tail!" Skye giggled as she pointed at his tail. Rocky's eyes widened as he froze a bit before glancing back at his tail. He joined in her giggles with laughter of his own. "Yeah! I love helping others!" He barked happily.

The two paused and looked at each other with grins before Rocky looked away. Skye could feel her face starting to hurt from the smiling. It was really nice to talk to Rocky. She enjoyed the time they spend together, even before she and Chase started dating and even now after they broke up. Though, it didn't feel like a break up. It was more of a realization that they were just friends and nothing more.

Skye looked at Everest once more. "I hope she's okay." Skye couldn't help, but begin to whine. Her ears and goal drooped as she dared to glance over her friend once more, feeling a hole beginning to form as her heart wrenched.

"Same. But why was she even there in the first place?" Rocky wondered as he laid a paw gently on her shoulder. His facial features changed, a shocked gasp came from his throat. "Marshall,"Rocky began as he trembled, his ears flattening against his head. "Have you..." he began before Marshall immediately pressed his paw where Rocky's was.

A slight groan could be heard from Everest as she tried to move away from the paw that was pushing her shoulder. Skye's heart couldn't take it. She didn't want to see her friend in pain like this. "Stop! You're hurting her! The pressure..." Skye began before she felt a paw pressing against her back. Her tail dropped.

"It'll be okay, Skye. Marshall's just checking on her to make sure he's not missing any injuries." Chase tried to assure her with a slight fake smile.

"Speaking of which, Marshall. Did you even see this injury?" Rocky asked him. Marshall frowned and shook his head. "I'm supposed to be the medic of this team, and yet I didn't see it. I was too busy focusing on her body..." Marshall drifted off.

Rocky grimaced. "That's bad." He remarked. Marshall nodded. "We don't usually get shoulder wounds this often, but it appears Everest has a bite mark on her shoulder that looks painful. I might have to double check her to make sure I have everything. I'll report back to you, for now I would appreciate some privacy. Skye, Chase, Rocky? Could you please leave?" Marshall begged.

The three friends nodded before heading back to their spots. Rubble was shaking immensely. "Is she okay, Skye?" Rubble asked with a quivering lip.

Zuma's eyes went half lidded. "Oh, yes. She's fine. She didn't just get half drowned until I showed up." Zuma remarked sarcastically. "Of course, she's not okay, Rubble! She's injured!"

Rubble shuddered, seemingly getting worse by the comment from Zuma alone. "I know that! I was just wondering if she would get better. I'm worried about her, Skye, Zuma. Chase? Rocky? You pups understand that don't you?" Rubble asked.

"We're worried as well, Rubble. For now all we can do is wait until we get back to the Lookout. Hopefully things will be smoother there." Rocky remarked. Tracker nodded in agreement.

"Oy, oy, oy, I sure do hope things get better." Tracker yipped as Jake finished bandaging him up.

The rest of the ride back to the Lookout was quiet, and Skye couldn't help but wonder who would bite a dog like Everest in such a way. It seemed almost like this pup dragged her to the jungle somehow and then tried to drown her to prove a point.

Skye shook her head. It isn't really to that point is it? This creature who drowned Everest...why?
