Chapter 91: The Trovita Island Gym Challenge!

Hello everyone, this chapter will be my take on the events of the "Misty Meets Her Match" episode from the anime. Sorry for the late release, I've been pretty busy this week. This chapter, like last chapter is long as well and I hope you all enjoy it!

The chapter begins 2 days after the last chapter ended and during this time it's mainly been calm for the group after taking down Team Snagem. Tracey during this time continues to observe any wild Pokémon that the group comes across. Now that his Azumarill evolved she's able to locate wild Pokémon easily with her ears allowing for Tracey to observe and make sketches of them. Leaf during the past 2 days has been mainly training her water Pokémon for the upcoming Mandarin Island competition and she trained so much that her shiny Chinchou and Tentacool evolved into a Lanturn and Tentacruel.

Misty also continues to train her Pokémon for the Mandarin Island competition too. After Misty's Primarina evolved she loves to sing and has a become a big hit for Misty's sisters Water shows back at home. Ever since the battle at Team Snagem's base Togepi has been taking his training more seriously. Togepi has intense training battles with Misty's Pokémon every day and is surprisingly growing stronger at a fast rate making Misty think that Togepi might be close to evolving but is unsure. Misty does try to not push Togepi too hard as he's still a baby, but the egg doesn't mind the intense training and wants to continue growing stronger.

Ash during this time continues to train his Pokémon too for his upcoming gym challenge. Speaking of Ash's Pokémon after Blastoise evolved he's become a lot stronger and helps Ash's water types with their training. Blastoise also sometimes trains with Venusaur and Charizard too. He also created a name for them called the Kanto Starter Squad, Venusaur along with Charizard found the name to be lame which made Blastoise sad. Whenever Blastoise isn't training he continues to play in the band that he's in with Krookodile, Croconaw, Rillaboom, and Skeledirge. Rillaboom after evolving has gotten better at playing the drums and his training alongside Ash's grass types (especially Sceptile) have become more intense. Sceptile's grown stronger after evolving as well he trains every day trying to improve himself and whenever he isn't training he tends to spend time in the trees at Oak's ranch and relax.

For Frogadier he's grown stronger/faster as well with Riolu not too far behind him. The 2 mons have training battles every day. They also stay at Delia's house and train with Lycanroc, Torracat, Dartrix, Meowscarada, and Meltan. One day when they were all training with each other it became so intense that they accidentally destroyed one of the walls of the house. This caused Delia to scold them and told them that she doesn't mind them staying at her home but if they want to have intense training sessions like that they'll need to train at Oak's ranch. The mons nod and have started having their training battles at Oak's ranch and when their trainings done, they come to Delia's house to rest.

Kingambit, after evolving has not only grown stronger but also became the leader of a group of Pawniard and Bisharp that live at Oak's ranch. When the mons saw Kingambit they immediately asked him to be their leader, Kingambit wasn't interested at the time but after spending time with them he's grown to enjoy it. Pignite after evolving trains a lot with Ash's fire and fighting types every day and continues to grow stronger. Dragonair, after evolving, has also been having intense training sessions with Charizard, Gyarados, and the other dragon types. Also, now that Dragonair can fly she participates in the flying races they have. She isn't as fast as Ash's other flying types yet but doesn't mind as she likes the challenge. Ceruledge and Sirfetch'd after evolving have become stronger as well. Ceruledge along with Skeledirge have been training a lot with Ash's Gengar as he's able to help them with their ghost type moves. Sirfetch'd has been training to learn a move called Meteor Assault, he constantly thrusts his leek sword forward trying to learn the move. One day when Sirfetch'd was doing that Dracovish took interest in Sirfetch'd's leek sword and bit it. This made Sirfetch'd angry as when he was trying to get Dracovish to let go he thrust his sword forward sending both himself and Dracovish flying as they crashed into a tree.

Sirfetch'd then realized that this was Dracovish's way of trying to help Sirfetch'd learn Meteor Assault. So, after that they continue to train with each other and have grown a bond. Sirfetch'd along with Ceruledge have also been receiving some knightly training from Corviknight who teaches them how to act like proper knights. Now for Ash's new capture Rhyperior you'd think that after his encounter with the mon that she would be aggressive but that's not the case as Rhyperior's friendly. Rhyperior loves to take care of the young Pokémon that live in the lab and helps out Clefable and Venusaur. Rhyperior's also a great training partner for Ash's rock and ground type Pokémon. She along with Ash's Hisuian Arcanine have become co ambassadors of the ranch and help break up disputes between the Pokémon that live there.

Now that the update's out of the way let's head into present time where we see the group still riding on Lapras's back. As Lapras continues to swim we see Leaf wearing her binoculars trying to find any wild Pokémon, Misty along with Tracey are watching Pikachu and Togepi sleeping with Tracey drawing a sketch of them. Ash's currently polishing his 2 badges trying to make them shiny. Once Ash finishes polishing them, he looks at the 2 badges and speaks.

"There we go they're now all nice and shiny." Ash says as he then puts the 2 badges in his jacket. We then come over to Leaf still looking around as she speaks.

"Oh, water Pokémon where are you?" Leaf says as she continues to look for water Pokémon we now go over to Misty and Tracey. Tracey has just finished sketching Pikachu and Togepi sleeping as Misty speaks.

"Wow that's amazing Tracey" Misty says as Tracey says thank you. As Lapras continues to swim she sees something up ahead and alerts the group (this also causes Pikachu and Togepi to wake up). The 4 kids look forward and see an island in the distance as Misty speaks.

"Is that Trovita Island?" Misty asks as Tracey speaks.

"Yep, it is" Tracey responds making the group happy as Ash speaks.

"And that's where my next badge is. Okay Lapras full speed ahead!" Ash says with Lapras nodding as she begins to swim faster Leaf sees something in the distance and speaks.

"What's that?" Leaf questions as she puts her binoculars back on and looks forward. Once she does, she sees a young girl and a Seel caught in a current. Leaf gets a surprised look on her face as she speaks.

"There's a little girl and a Seel stuck in a current!" Leaf says while pointing forward making the group look too as they see the girl and Seel. They've surprised looks on their faces as Tracey speaks.

"We need to help her!" Tracey says with the group nodding. Just when Ash's about to have Lapras swim faster Misty pulls out a Pokeball and speaks.

"Milotic come out!" Misty says as she throws the ball forward and brings out the mon. Misty quickly gets on Milotic's back, looks at the group and speaks.

"I'm going to go save her!" Misty says as Milotic begins to swim fast with Lapras not too far behind. We now come over to the little girl and Seel they continue to call for help and try to stay above the water. A couple seconds later the water pushes them down, Misty sees this and speaks.

"Dive Milotic!" Misty says with the mon nodding as she dives down and begins swimming towards the young girl and Seel. Once Misty and Milotic reach them Misty puts the both of them on Milotic's back and the mon begins to swim towards the surface. Meanwhile, on Trovita Island we see a boy with short Auburn hair that's around Ash, Misty, and Leaf's age. He's running frantically and speaks.

"Marie! Where are you!" The boy calls out as he keeps running, he reaches a cliff pulls out a telescope and begins to search for the girl. As he's looking, he sees some bubbles in the water and out of it appears Misty, Milotic, along with the girl and Seel. The boy has a surprised look on his face as he sees Misty hand the girl along with Seel over to Ash, Leaf, and Tracey who begin to check on their condition. As they're doing that the girl along with the Seel open their eyes, look at the group and tell them thank you, making the group smile. The boy on the cliff is happy to see that the girl is okay as he then looks at Misty again who tells Milotic thank you as she then returns the mon and gets on Lapras's back. The boy smiles and speaks.

"Impressive" The boy says as he then begins running to go meet up with the group. We now come back to the group as Ash looks at the girl and speaks.

"By the way what were you doing out there?" Ash asks as the girl speaks.

"I was playing with Seel but then suddenly we both got swept up by a current." The girl says with the group nodding as Misty speaks.

"The sea can be both kind and dangerous make sure you're always careful when you swim in it. Also be sure that there are other people around like Seel" Misty says with the girl nodding making Misty smile as Leaf speaks.

"Looks like we're getting close to the dock" Leaf says making the group look forward as they see the dock along with a few boys running towards it as Tracey speaks.

"Who're they?" Tracey wonders as the girl speaks.

"It's my brother and his friends!" The girl says as she begins to happily call out to them Ash looks at Lapras and speaks.

"Lapras take us over there" Ash says with Lapras nodding as she swims forward and reaches the dock. After that the group get off Lapras's back, Ash tells Lapras thank you and returns her back to her Pokeball. Once that happens the group see the Auburn-haired boy along with the other boys running behind him as they speak.

"Marie!" The boys say as Marie speaks.

"Big Brother!" Marie says as she runs over to them, and the Auburn-haired boy picks her up. He then looks at her and speaks.

"Marie I'm happy that you're okay we've been looking everywhere for you" The Auburn-haired boy says as Marie speaks.

"I'm sorry to make you worry" Marie says apologetically as her brother gives her a hug and puts her back down. Once he does, he looks over at the group and speaks.

"Thank you for saving my sister how can I ever repay you?" The boy asks as Ash speaks.

"You're welcome and we're just happy that she's safe" Ash responds with the others agreeing with him. The boy then walks over to Misty and speaks.

"May I ask for your name?" The boy asks as Misty speaks.

"My name's Misty" Misty responds making the boy smile as he speaks.

"Misty, I saw you save my sister and you're amazing" The boy says as he then snaps his fingers, and the other boys suddenly bring flowers towards her. Misty along with the group are surprised as the Auburn-haired boy speaks.

"Now then let's play some music" The boy says as another boy appears he's holding a radio then presses a button that begins to play ballroom music. The Auburn-haired boy then gets down on one knee looks at Misty and speaks.

"Misty, will you please have this dance with me?" The boy asks and before Misty can answer the boy grabs Togepi hands him to Ash then gently grabs Misty's hand and pulls her forward. Once he does that, he along with Misty begin to dance surprising the group as Tracey speaks.

"I wasn't expecting this" Tracey says as Ash speaks.

"Yeah, what's this guy's deal?" Ash asks as Leaf speaks.

"I'm not sure but he's getting in the way of my ship" Leaf says making Ash along with Tracey confused as they look at her and speak.

"What ship?" The two boys ask but Leaf doesn't answer. Back to Misty and the Auburn-haired boy they continue to dance as the Auburn-haired boy speaks.

"Misty when you saved my sister, I instantly knew that you were a great water type trainer." The boy says as Misty speaks.

"Um thank you" Misty says as the boy continues to speak.

"On this island we don't have many talented water type trainers so I would be honored if you'd stayed here for a little while to help train my gym trainers." The Auburn-haired boy says as Misty speaks.

"Gym trainers?... Wait does this mean that you're the Trovita Island Gym Leader?!" Misty asks while having a surprised look on her face with the others having a surprised look too as the Auburn-haired boy speaks.

"Yes, is it really that shocking?" The Auburn-haired boy says as he smiles. Meanwhile, off to the side Tracey speaks.

"So, he's the gym leader" Tracey says as Leaf speaks.

"I never would have guessed" Leaf says as Ash speaks.

"Well in that case I Ash Ketchum of Pallet Town challenge you to a battle!" Ash says while having a serious look on his face with Pikachu sparking his cheeks. Meanwhile back with the Auburn-haired boy and Misty they continue to dance as the boy didn't hear what Ash said as he continues looking at Misty and speaks.

"Not only are you great at water types but you're also a great dancer." The Auburn-haired boy says which makes Misty slightly blush a do a small giggle. Off to the side Ash has an annoyed look on his face from not only being ignored but also seeing Misty continue to dance with the boy makes him slightly jealous as he speaks.

"Hey, I'm talking to you!" Ash yells but the boy continues to ignore him as Marie speaks.

"Come on big bro Ash came here to have a gym match against you" Marie says making the boy and Misty stop dancing as he then looks over at Ash and speaks.

"You know it's not very polite to interrupt someone when they're talking in private." The boy says as Ash speaks.

"Well, you were being rude by ignoring me so I'm sorry for being unpolite!" Ash says as the Auburn-haired boy smirks and speaks.

"My name isn't "rude" it's Rudy and why should I battle you?" Rudy asks as Ash speaks.

"I already have 2 orange league badges and the 2 previous gym leaders looked a lot tougher than you!" Ash responds as he showcases the 2 badges. Rudy looks at the badges then looks back at Ash smiles and speaks.

"I see well in that case I'll accept your challenge but before you face me, you'll need to pass through a test." Rudy says as Ash speaks.

"A test huh? Fine I'll take your test pass it and then beat you!" Ash states while having a serious look on his face as Rudy smiles and speaks.

"You really love to run your mouth huh, but I do like how motivated you are. The test will take place north of here, you'll need at least 6 Pokémon so make sure to pick who you want to use. Then once you're done, I'll have one of my trainers here come pick you up and bring you to the test area." Rudy says with Ash nodding as Ash speaks.

"That's fine and I'm going to win!" Ash states with Pikachu agreeing making Rudy smirk as he then looks at Misty and speaks.

"We'll see each other soon" Rudy says while gently holding Misty's hand and staring into her eyes. Misty looks at Rudy and gets a slight blush as a few seconds later he lets go. Once he does, he along with his gym trainers and Marie begin heading to the testing site leaving the group behind. Once they're gone Ash speaks.

"Who does he think he is acting all cocky" Ash says in an annoyed tone as Tracey speaks.

"Well, he is the gym leader, so it makes since for him to be a little bit cocky" Tracey responds as Ash speaks.

"In that case I'll show him by beating this test and beating him in a battle come on let's go to the Pokémon Center" Ash says with Leaf and Tracey nodding as they begin walking towards the center. As they're walking Leaf sees Misty still standing looking in the direction where Rudy went as she speaks.

"Misty, aren't you coming?" Leaf asks breaking Misty out of her shock as she looks at the group and speaks.

"I'm coming!" Misty says as she quickly runs over to the group and makes it to them. Once she does Ash looks at her and speaks.

"Geez Misty it's not like you to stare off into space like that" Ash says as Misty speaks.

'Yeah, sorry about that" Misty says as Ash then hands Togepi over to her and the group then begin walking towards the Pokémon Center. Once they make it Ash's currently on a video phone calling Prof Oak's lab. The phone rings 3 times until the old man appears on screen, he looks at the group smiles and speaks.

"Oh, Ash and friends I wasn't expecting a call from you all today how are you?" Oak asks with the group saying that they're doing great making the old man smile as he looks at Ash and speaks.

"So, Ash what can I do for you? As I'm sure you've a reason for calling" Oak asks with Ash nodding as he speaks.

"Yes, I do have a reason you see we've made it to Trovita Island for my next gym challenge and before I challenge the gym leader, I have to take a test that requires me to use 6 Pokémon and if I pass it that'll allow me to face him." Ash responds with Oak nodding as he speaks.

"I see do you happen to know what kind of test it'll be?" Oak asks as Ash speaks.

"Unfortunately, I don't but I'm pretty sure that it's something that'll test my Pokémon's skills like the other challenges from the previous 2 gyms." Ash responds with Oak nodding as he speaks.

"That is true so who would you like me to send over?" Oak asks as Ash speaks.

"Let's see I'll take Noivern, Luxray, Dartrix, Meltan, Riolu and Pignite" Ash answers with Oak nodding as Oak speaks.

"Those 6 are your choices and now Ash I've to let you know that since you're requesting 6 Pokémon this means that you'll have to send either Pikachu or Lapras over too as you are currently carrying 7." Oak says, with Ash nodding as he speaks.

"Yep, I know and the Pokémon I'm going to send over is Lapras. As I want her to take a break and interact/train with my other Pokémon more. I'll then send over the other 5 Pokémon I have and keep Pikachu on my team as I'm not going to have him participate." Ash says with Oak nodding as he speaks.

"That sounds like a splendid idea I have been interested in studying your Lapras for a while now and I'm sure that she'll be happy to have fun and train with the Pokémon you have here. Now then I'll go get Noivern, Luxray, Dartrix, Meltan, Riolu, and Pignite ready." Oak says with Ash nodding. After that 5 minutes pass and Oak managed to get the 6 mons. Ash along with Oak then begin placing the balls on the transport machine, before Ash places Lapras's ball on the machine he looks at it and speaks.

"Lapras you're going to make a lot of friends at Oak's lab." Ash says as he then places the ball on the machine. After that the Pokeball's glow, they disappear then reappear at their respective locations. Oak along with Ash pick up the 6 balls come back to the screen as Ash speaks.

"I have them here safe and sound Prof. Oak" Ash says as the old man speaks.

"As do I and Ash, I wish you luck on your test." Oak says with Ash nodding as they then turn off the video call. Ash puts the Pokeball's on his belt looks at his friends and speaks.

"Okay I'm ready" Ash says with the group nodding as they then walk out of the Pokémon Center and meet up with one of Rudy's gym trainers who begins taking them to the test sight. 10 minutes later they've reached the area where the group see a dock, a speed boat, along with Rudy, Marie, and Rudy's gym trainers. Rudy looks at the group and speaks.

"Took you long enough for a while there I thought you wouldn't come" Rudy says as Ash speaks.

"Well, you thought wrong because I'm here!" Ash responds while having a determined look on his face making Rudy smirk as he then looks at Misty and waves with Misty waving back as Ash speaks.

"So, are you going to explain what this test is or not?" Ash asks as Rudy speaks.

"Man, you are in a hurry but you've a point I should tell you what this test is." Rudy says as he then begins to explain.

"This is a target test you'll be riding in this speed boat and shoot down as many targets as you can. You need to hit 50 targets in the span of 10 minutes. If you manage to hit all 50 before the timer runs out, you pass but if you're unable to then you fail." Rudy says with Ash nodding as he speaks.

"So, that's it in that case this should be easy" Ash says while having a confident look on his face as Rudy speaks.

"In that case why don't we get in the boat oh and your friends can get in it too." Rudy says with the group nodding as they begin to get in the boat. When Misty's about to get in the boat Rudy helps her Misty tells him thank you with Rudy smiling. Ash looks at them then looks forward waiting for the test to begin as one of Rudy's gym trainers speaks.

"Let the target test begin!" The boy says as another boy turns on the timer and Rudy starts the boat as it begins to go forward at a fast speed. As the boat's going forward a target suddenly appears as Ash speaks.

"There's the first target. Okay Pignite use Flamethrower!" Ash says as he brings out Pignite. Pignite quickly heats up his nose and fires the stream of fire that hits the target and easily destroys it. Ash smiles and speaks.

"That's one down what'd you think of that Rudy?!" Ash asks while looking at the boy but sees that Rudy's looking at Misty and speaks.

"I have to say Misty now that I get a closer look at you, you have beautiful eyes" Rudy says making Misty blush slightly and making Ash annoyed as Tracey speaks.

"Ash there's another target!" Tracey says making Ash look forward as he sees 5 more targets up ahead then speaks.

"So, there's 5 Pignite won't be able to hit all of them, so I'll send out these two next" Ash says to himself as he brings out 2 Pokeball's and speaks.

"Dartrix, Meltan come out!" Ash says as the 2-mons come out of their Pokeball's and are ready to help as Ash speaks.

"Okay Dartrix use Razor Leaf and Meltan use Flash Cannon!" Ash calls with the 2-mons nodding as Dartrix brings out 3 sharp orange quills and throws them forward hitting 3 targets. Meltan fires a big Flash Cannon that manages to hit 2 targets and easily destroy them. Ash smiles and speaks.

"Great job guys!" Ash says with the 2-mons nodding while Pikachu, Togepi, Leaf, Tracey, and Misty cheer as Rudy speaks.

"Not bad but you should know that some targets are hidden will you be able to find them?" Rudy asks as Ash smirks and speaks.

"Of course, and I have the 2 perfect Pokémon for that" Ash responds while holding 2 Pokeballs and speaks.

"Riolu, Luxray come out!" Ash says as he sends out the 2 mons, they're both ready as Ash speaks.

"Riolu use your aura and Luxray use your X-ray vision to help find targets!" Ash says with the 2-mons nodding Riolu closes her eyes and begins to concentrate while Luxray uses her X-ray eyes. The 2-mons search for a few seconds then feel/see multiple targets forward they look back at Ash as he speaks.

"Okay now Riolu use Aura Sphere, Luxray Discharge, Dartrix, Razor Leaf, Meltan Flash Cannon, and Pignite use Flamethrower!" Ash calls with the 5-mons nodding as they fire their attacks and hit multiple targets that were hidden. Ash then looks at the mons and speaks.

"Great let's keep going!" Ash says with the 5-mons nodding while his friend's cheer. After that 8 minutes pass during this time Ash's Pokémon continue to destroy multiple targets that they see/find. There's now 2 minutes left Ash just needs to destroy 10 more targets and he'll win. But even though he knows that the last 10 targets are well hidden, making it hard for both Riolu and Luxray to find them as Ash speaks.

"Where are they?" Ash says as Rudy speaks.

"Looks like the time is almost up it seems like you won't pass after all" Rudy says as Ash looks at him and speaks.

"Maybe but I still have one more Pokémon left, and I know that he'll help me pass" Ash responds as he then looks forward pulls out his final Pokeball and speaks.

"Noivern, I choose you!" Ash says as he throws the ball in the air and sends out Noivern. The Wyvern lets out a loud roar as Ash speaks.

"Noivern use your echolocation to find the last remaining targets!" Ash says with Noivern nodding as he begins to use his echolocation. As Noivern's doing that he's having a hard time finding the targets too, there's now only 30 seconds left on the timer Ash's getting nervous as he speaks.

"Come on Noivern" Ash says to himself as a few seconds later Noivern manages to find the targets making Ash happy as Rudy speaks.

"Good job finding them but how will you hit all of them?" Rudy asks as Ash speaks.

"Simple this one attack will work. Noivern use Boomburst!" Ash calls Noivern roars as he fires out a big wave of sound that begins to hit the targets. As the Boomburst continues to hit the targets there's only 2 seconds left on the timer and the Boomburst needs to hit the final target. Just when the timer's about to reach zero Noivern's Boomburst reaches the final target and destroys it. When that happens, the timer reaches zero and begins to ring as Ash speaks.

"We did it!" Ash cheers along with the 6 mons and Pikachu. Leaf, along with Tracey and Misty begin to cheer too. Rudy looks at Misty seeing how happy she is for Ash then looks over at Ash celebrating with his Pokémon. After that they make it back on the dock, once they do Rudy looks at Ash and speaks.

"I'll admit it you along with your Pokémon really impressed me in that target test and now that you passed the test, I'll grant you the right to challenge me to a battle." Rudy says making Ash excited as he speaks.

"Great so what kind of battle is it?" Ash asks as Rudy speaks.

"It's going to be a battle where we've Pokémon of the same type going against each other. They'll be 1v1 battles and last 6 rounds." Rudy says with Ash nodding as Rudy continues to speak.

"So, tell me the 6 types that you want to use" Rudy says as Ash begins to think. As Ash continues to think he's decided on the 6 types looks at Rudy and speaks.

"The 6 types I'm choosing are Fairy, Rock, Dragon, Dark, Ice, and Normal" Ash answers with Rudy nodding as he speaks.

"Our battle will take place tomorrow morning" Rudy says with Ash nodding as Rudy then looks over at Misty and speaks.

"By the way Misty would you like to join us for dinner?" Rudy asks surprising Misty and before she can say anything Marie speaks.

"Yeah, come on Misty let's eat together" Marie says while gently pushing Misty forward as Rudy speaks.

"Marie's right there's no need for you to be so reserved" Rudy says as the 3 of them begin walking forward Misty looks back at her friends and speaks.

"I'll be back soon!" Misty says as she along with Rudy and Marie continue to walk forward until they're out of view. Ash, Leaf, and Tracey see them disappear as Ash speaks.

"Wait but what about us?" Ash says as Leaf speaks.

"Yeah, I'm hungry" Leaf says as her stomach growls Tracey speaks.

"Let's go back to the Pokémon Center and have something there" Tracey says as Ash speaks.

"Good idea Tracey and after dinner I'll call Prof. Oak so that I can switch out my Pokémon." Ash says with Leaf and Tracey nodding as they begin walking back to the center. 10 minutes later the group made it back to the center where they send out all of their Pokémon and begin having dinner. The Pokémon Leaf has with her today are her shiny Arctozolt, her shiny Talonflame, Toedscruel, Kantonian Persian, Nidoqueen, and Omastar. As the group continues to happily eat their lunch Ash speaks.

"Man, this food's amazing" Ash says with the others agreeing with him as Leaf speaks.

"You know I wonder what kind of food Misty's eating right now" Leaf says as Tracey speaks.

"Seeing as Rudy's a gym leader I'm going to assume that he's probably treating her to a 5-star meal." Tracey says as Leaf speaks.

"Man, that sounds good it's making me jealous" Leaf says while drooling slightly as Ash speaks.

"Well, if you ask me that Rudy guy doesn't seem so great, and I'll showcase that by beating him in tomorrow's battle" Ash says as he continues to eat Leaf looks at him smirks and speaks.

"Say Ash don't tell me you're jealous because Rudy's hanging out with Misty" Leaf says making Ash blush as he speaks.

"Jealous?! I'm not Jealous?!" Ash responds while having a flustered look on his face making Leaf chuckle as Tracey speaks.

"Alright let's settle down and Ash do you know which 6 Pokémon you're going to be using in your battle against Rudy tomorrow?" Tracey asks as Ash speaks.

"Yep, I have the perfect 6 in mind and with them I know I can win" Ash responds while having a confident look on his face with Pikachu and his other Pokémon agreeing with him making Tracey and Leaf smile. After they finish eating dinner Ash calls Prof. Oak and switches out his Pokémon again. Prof. Oak also tells Ash that Lapras's having a great time at the ranch playing/training with his other Pokémon which makes Ash happy. Once that's done, he along with Pikachu go outside and begin to train while Tracey and Leaf go to their rooms. While that's happening, we come over to a restaurant where Rudy, Marie, Misty, Togepi and Misty's Pokémon (consisting of Vaporeon, Milotic, Drizzle, Quaxwell, Psyduck, and Slowpoke) are having dinner. The food they had was delicious as we see empty bowls/plates, Misty wipes her lips with a napkin smiles and speaks.

"That was amazing" Misty says while having a satisfied smile on her face with Togepi agreeing with her as Rudy speaks.

"I'm glad you liked it" Rudy says as Marie speaks.

"Your Pokémon seemed to like the food as well" Marie says as they all look at Misty's Pokémon who also have satisfied looks on their faces and are full. The 3 kids along with Togepi smile at them Marie then looks at Misty and speaks.

"By the way Misty I think you'd be a great big sister" Marie says making Misty look at her as she speaks.

"Um what do you mean by that?" Misty asks as Marie speaks.

"Well, you see I'm the only girl in my brother's gym he along with his gym trainers are great, but it'd be really nice to have another girl around. And spending time with you today makes me want you as an older sister." Marie says surprising Misty as Rudy looks at Marie and speaks.

"Marie you shouldn't ask too much of Misty" Rudy says with Marie nodding as Rudy then stands up looks at Misty and speaks.

"Anyway, Misty, would you like to see the gym Pokémon?" Rudy asks with Misty nodding as she then returns her Pokémon other than Togepi and they begin heading to where Rudy's Pokémon are. When they make it, they see a door and on the other side of the door Misty hears music. Once Rudy opens the door it showcases multiple Pokémon dancing and having a good time. Misty has a surprised look on her face as she speaks.

"They are all dancing" Misty says as Rudy speaks.

"I like to believe that you shouldn't just teach Pokémon on how to use moves but also to have them do things outside of their natural abilities and eventually you'll be able to upgrade those abilities. And dancing is just one of the ways I believe that can help." Rudy says with Misty nodding as he continues to speak.

"Now then Misty Shall we dance?" Rudy asks surprising Misty as Marie speaks.

"I'll dance with Togepi" Marie says as she takes Togepi out of Misty's arms and begins to dance with the mon making Rudy and Misty smile as Rudy looks at Misty.

"Come let's dance too and you can have your Pokémon join as well" Rudy says with Misty nodding as she brings out her Pokémon, they all then go on the dance floor and begin to dance. As they're dancing everyone's having a good time as Rudy speaks.

"Misty, will you please stay at the gym" Rudy says as Misty looks at him and speaks.

"You want me to stay here?" Misty asks with Rudy nodding as he continues to speak.

"Yes, you see Marie's lonely not having any other girls around and I feel that you'd be the perfect older sister for her. Also, if you stay here, we can help train your water types too making them more powerful/skilled than before." Rudy says as Misty speaks.

"This is all so sudden" Misty says as Rudy speaks.

"It is and you don't need to give me an answer right now you can do it after the battle tomorrow. Now let's continue to dance." Rudy says with Misty nodding as they continue to dance Misty has a confused look on her face. 10 minutes later the dancing ends. Misty thanks Rudy and Marie for the dinner and dance party but tells them that it's time for her to go meet up with her friends. Misty returns her Pokémon other than Togepi and begins heading back to the Pokémon Center. As Misty's walking to the center, she continues to think about what Rudy said wondering what she should do and is getting closer to the center. As she's about to go through the door she hears a voice.

"Hey Misty!" The voice says making Misty look as she sees Ash and Pikachu running over to her. When they get close enough Misty looks at Ash's clothes and Pikachu's body, they're both dirty as Misty speaks.

"Why're you and Pikachu so dirty?" Misty asks as Ash speaks.

"Oh, we were just training the 6 Pokémon I'm going to be using for my battle with Rudy tomorrow and it got a little too intense." Ash says with Pikachu nodding as Misty smiles and speaks.

"You always go overboard with training" Misty says as Ash speaks.

"Of course," Ash responds with Misty nodding as Ash continues to speak.

"By the way Misty how was your time with Rudy?" Ash asks as Misty's smile goes away and becomes silent. Misty stays quiet for a little while making Ash and Pikachu confused as Ash speaks.

"What's wrong Misty did Rudy do something to you? Because if he did, I'll go set him straight right now!" Ash says while having a serious expression on his face with Pikachu having the same look as Misty speaks.

"It's not what he did more so what he said" Misty responds as Ash speaks.

"What he said? What did he say?" Ash asks curiously. Misty hesitates for a little while but then builds up the courage and speaks.

"He asked me if I can stay at the gym" Misty responds surprising Ash and Pikachu as Ash speaks.

"He wants you to stay at the gym? Why?" Ash asks as Misty speaks.

"He believes that I'd be a good older sister for Marie, and he said that he can help my Pokémon become stronger" Misty responds with Ash nodding as he speaks.

"I see" Ash says as Misty speaks.

"He wants me to give him an answer after the battle tomorrow. What do you think I should do Ash?" Misty asks as Ash stays silent too for a few seconds as he looks at her and speaks.

"Honestly, I'm not sure. If Rudy can make you into a strong water type trainer, then that will help with your goal, but you also want to continue traveling and I'd miss traveling with you." Ash says as Misty looks at him Ash continues to speak.

"So, my answer for you is whatever you decide I'll support it whether I like it or not" Ash says while having a smile on his face Misty continues to look at him as Ash then lets out a yawn and speaks.

"Oh boy I'm tired well see ya tomorrow Misty and have a goodnight come on Pikachu" Ash says with the yellow mouse nodding as they then walk inside the center and head towards their room. As Ash is walking his smile then becomes a frown as he then makes it to his room and goes asleep. Misty then heads towards the room that she along with Leaf are staying in. When Misty makes it, she notices that the lights are off and hears Leaf snoring signaling that she's sound asleep. As Misty along with Togepi are about to go to bed they hear a voice.

"You were out late" The voice says surprising Misty causing her to almost trip as she then looks and sees that Leaf's awake as she looks at her and speaks.

"Were you awake the whole time Leaf?" Misty asks as Leaf speaks.

"No, I just woke up when I heard you come in" Leaf responds with Misty nodding as Leaf speaks.

"So, anyway how was the dinner you had with Rudy and Marie I bet the food tasted amazing" Leaf says making Misty smile as she speaks.

"Yes, the food was good but there was something Rudy said that surprised me" Misty says making Leaf curious as she speaks.

"Something he said?" Leaf says with Misty nodding as she begins to tell Leaf. 5 minutes later Misty's done telling Leaf everything about her time with Rudy, Leaf has a surprised look on her face as she speaks.

"He wants you to stay at the gym? But that's so sudden you guys just met today." Leaf says with Misty nodding as she speaks.

"Yeah, then after that when I was about to enter the Pokémon Center I ran into Ash and told him what Rudy said" Misty says as Leaf speaks.

"And what did Ash say?" Leaf asks as Misty speaks.

"He told me that whatever I decide as long as it makes me happy, he doesn't mind" Misty responds with Leaf nodding as Misty speaks.

"What do you think I should do Leaf?" Misty asks as Leaf thinks for a few seconds then looks at Misty and speaks.

"My advice for you would be to follow what your heart wants" Leaf responds as Misty speaks.

"My heart?" Misty asks as Leaf continues.

"Yes, your heart now I want to say more but I'm tired goodnight and let's cheer on Ash tomorrow" Leaf says as she then goes back asleep and starts to snore. Misty looks at her then lays in her bed looking at the ceiling as she speaks.

"What my heart wants" Misty says as she then closes her eyes and goes asleep. It's now the next day Tracey along with Leaf had a goodnights sleep while Ash and Misty have tired looks on their faces as they barely slept. But they then break out of their tiredness and make their way to the gym. Once they make it Rudy along with Marie and his gym trainers greet them with Rudy greeting Misty first and making Ash annoyed. Rudy then looks at Ash and speaks.

"So, are you ready?" Rudy asks with Ash nodding as he speaks.

"Yep, and I'm going to win!" Ash states while having a determined look on his face while Rudy smirks as Misty speaks.

"So, where's the battlefield?" Misty asks as Rudy speaks.

"The battlefield is right over there" Rudy responds, and he points in the direction where the battlefield is making everyone look. Once they do, they see that the battlefield is on top of the ocean with large spikes surrounding it. The group have surprised looks on their faces as Leaf speaks.

"That's where their battling?" "It looks dangerous" Leaf and Tracey say as Rudy looks at Ash and speaks.

"If you're scared, we don't have to battle" Rudy says as Ash looks at him and speaks.

"Please I'm not scared in fact I'm excited" Ash responds while smiling as Misty speaks.

"I don't see a place for the audience" Misty says as Rudy speaks.

"Oh, you don't need to worry about that Misty for I have a solution." Rudy says as he snaps his fingers as suddenly an air balloon appears. They all look at it as Rudy speaks.

"You all can watch the battle safely in this air balloon" Rudy says with the group nodding. Marie along with a few of Rudy's gym trainers go inside the balloon. Before Leaf, Tracey, and Misty go in the balloon they look at Ash as Tracey speaks.

"Good luck Ash" Tracey says as Leaf speaks.

"You got this!" Leaf says with Ash nodding as Leaf and Tracey then go in the hot air balloon. Ash then looks over at Misty who looks at him. When Misty's about to speak Rudy speaks first.

"Misty your chariot awaits" Rudy says with Misty nodding as she then goes inside the hot air balloon. Once she does the balloon flies close to the battlefield and is floating over it as Rudy then looks at Ash and speaks.

"We should get going" Rudy says with Ash nodding as they then begin walking towards the battlefield. 5 minutes later they've made it to the battlefield and go to their respective sides. The 2 boys are looking at each other. Ash has a serious look on his face while Rudy has a confident smile. Up in the hot air balloon Tracey speaks.

"Ash looks serious while Rudy looks confident" Tracey says as Leaf speaks.

"Rudy must be confident that he can beat Ash" Leaf says as Marie speaks.

"Yep, my brother's strong and he'll win right Misty?" Marie asks while looking at the girl. Misty looks at Marie, she does a small smile and nods making Marie happy. Misty then looks back on the battlefield as the ref appears (he's riding on a Pidgeot) and speaks.

"This is a 6 round single battle between Rudy the Trovita Island gym leader and the challenger Ash Ketchum of Pallet Town. Each battle will consist of 1v1 battles between Pokémon that share a type whoever has the most Pokémon standing will be declared the winner!" The ref says with both boys nodding as the ref speaks.

"Now will both trainers please send out your first Pokémon!" The ref says as Rudy pulls out a Pokeball and speaks.

"I Rudy the South Star of the Orange League will go first. Now come out Slaking!" Rudy says as he throws the ball forward and what appears is a large sloth/gorilla Pokémon. The mon is laying on its right side and has a smile on its face as Ash speaks.

"Who's that Pokémon?" Ash questions as he along with Leaf pull out their Pokedex's to scan the mon.

"Slaking the Lazy Pokemon, it's a pure Normal type and the fully evolved form of Vigoroth. It's said to be the world's laziest Pokémon. When it is lounging, it is actually saving energy for striking back." The Pokedex says as Ash speaks.

"So, that's a Slaking and it's a normal type. The Pokedex says that it's pretty lazy, but I also have a Pokémon that's equally lazy." Ash says as he pulls out a Pokeball and speaks.

"Snorlax, I choose you!" Ash says as he throws the ball forward and sends out Snorlax. Once Snorlax appears it lets out a yawn showcasing that he's tired. Snorlax then looks over at Slaking who's looking at him as Ash speaks.

"Snorlax that Slaking may look lazy but it's strong I'm counting on you to get us the first win!" Ash says with Snorlax nodding as he gets in a battle stance while Slaking looks at him. Up in the hot air balloon Tracey speaks.

"So, it's a battle between Snorlax and Slaking two not only strong but lazy Normal type Pokémon." Tracey says with Leaf nodding as Marie speaks.

"Go! Rudy!" Marie cheers loudly for her big brother while Misty continues to look at the battlefield. Back on the battlefield the 2 trainers along with their Pokémon continue to look at each other as the ref speaks.

"Now that both trainers have sent out their first Pokémon let the battle begin!" The ref says signaling for the battle to start as Ash speaks.

"We'll attack first! Snorlax use Hammer Arm!" Ash calls Snorlax's right fist glows white and begins running towards Slaking as Rudy speaks.

"Counter with your Hammer Arm Slaking!" Rudy calls as Slaking stands up its left fist glows white and collides with Snorlax. When the two mons collide, they create a strong wind and begin pushing each other back and forth trying to see who's stronger. They keep doing that until there's an explosion causing them both to slide away from each other as Ash speaks.

"Don't let up Snorlax use Hammer Arm again!" Ash calls Snorlax nods as his right fist glows white again and begins running towards Slaking. As Snorlax's getting closer to Slaking Rudy doesn't say anything as Snorlax punches Slaking hard in the face causing super effective damage and making it slide back a few feet away. Slaking groans a little in pain but then looks at Snorlax and smirks. Up in the air Leaf speaks.

"That was weird how come Rudy didn't tell his Slaking to dodge?" Leaf asks as Tracey speaks.

"Well, you see Slaking has an ability called Truant making it so it can't attack consecutively" Tracey says with Leaf nodding as she speaks.

"In that case then won't this be better for Ash? As he can have Snorlax continue to attack Slaking" Leaf asks as Tracey speaks.

"You'd think so but remember Rudy is still a gym leader, so he probably has a way for Slaking to win even with its ability hindering its movements." Tracey responds with Leaf nodding. Meanwhile Marie continues to cheer on Rudy while Misty continues to watch in silence. Back on the battlefield Ash was able to learn about Truant thanks to his Pokedex as he looks at Snorlax and speaks.

"Snorlax Slaking won't be able to attack consecutively so let's use this chance we have to defeat it!" Ash says with Snorlax nodding as Ash calls for a command.

"Now use Hammer Arm again!" Ash calls Snorlax's left fist glows white as he shoots forward reaches Slaking and upper cuts the mon doing super effective damage as Rudy speaks.

"Now Slaking use Yawn" Rudy calls as Slaking looks at Snorlax and yawns in his face. Snorlax walks a couple feet back and yawns too. A few seconds later Snorlax falls on his back and goes asleep surprising Ash as he speaks.

"Snorlax!" Ash says as he watches Snorlax sleeping. Up in the hot air balloon Tracey speaks.

"This is bad now that Snorlax's asleep it'll allow for Rudy to attack Snorlax and even when the Truant ability stops Slaking Snorlax won't be able to counter." Tracey says as Leaf speaks.

"And Snorlax's a heavy sleeper too so it'll be hard for Ash to wake him up" Leaf says as Marie speaks.

"Yay! Go Rudy!" Marie cheers while Misty continues to watch. Back on the battlefield Snorlax continues to sleep as Ash speaks.

"Snorlax wake up!" Ash calls but Snorlax doesn't move as he's in a deep sleep Rudy then speaks.

"Now that your Snorlax's asleep I think it's time for Slaking to take back his energy. Slaking use Drain Punch!" Rudy calls Slaking's right fist glows as it jumps forward and punches Snorlax hard in the stomach causing super effective damage and taking his energy as Slaking heals itself Ash speaks.

"Snorlax counter with Hammer Arm!" Ash calls but Snorlax continues to sleep as Rudy speaks.

"The battle just started, and it looks like you're already going to lose the first round. Slaking use Bulk Up then use Drain Punch again!" Rudy calls Slaking roars as it increases its attack power and defense. Slaking's right fist glows and punches Snorlax hard in the stomach again making Snorlax groan in pain as Ash speaks.

"Snorlax hit it back with Mega Punch!" Ash calls but Snorlax continues to sleep surprising Ash as Rudy speaks.

"It seems like this round's mine and I'm ending this with this next attack. Slaking use Drain Punch again!" Rudy calls Slaking roars as its right fist glows and goes to hit Snorlax again as Ash smirks and speaks.

"Sorry Rudy but that's not happening. Snorlax use Sleep Talk!" Ash calls as Rudy speaks.

"It knows Sleep Talk?!" Rudy says in surprise as when Slaking goes to hit Snorlax suddenly Snorlax's right fist glows and upper cuts Slaking hard (using Mega Punch). Slaking sent soaring high in the air then crashes back down on the battlefield creating a dust cloud as Rudy speaks.

"Slaking!" Rudy calls in worry as when the smoke clears Slaking's laying on its back groaning in pain but then a few seconds later it stands back up and looks at Snorlax who's still asleep as Ash speaks.

"Nice it worked!" Ash says happily as in the hot air balloon Tracey speaks.

"Wow I wasn't expecting for Ash to have Snorlax use Sleep Talk" Tracey says as Leaf speaks.

"He must've taught it to Snorlax when he was training last night." Leaf says with Tracey nodding. Back on the battlefield Rudy is still surprised as he begins to think.

"I didn't expect his Snorlax knew Sleep Talk and that Mega Punch it landed on Slaking did a lot more damage than I was expecting." Rudy says to himself as he looks forward Ash speaks.

"How'd you like that Rudy, I bet you weren't expecting that now were you" Ash says as Rudy looks at him smirks and speaks.

"You're right I wasn't but it'll take a lot more than that to take down Slaking and even though your Snorlax knows Sleep Talk it doesn't matter as Slaking will win." Rudy says while having a confident look on his face as Ash speaks.

"Well in that case bring it on!" Ash says as Rudy speaks.

"We well now Slaking use Bulk Up then Drain Punch!" Rudy calls Slaking roars as it bulks up its body increasing its attack power along with its defense again. Both of Slaking's fist glow as it jumps forward and goes to hit the still sleeping Snorlax as Ash speaks.

"Snorlax use Sleep Talk!" Ash calls when Slaking goes to hit Snorlax suddenly Snorlax jumps in the air dodging Slaking's fist. Slaking looks up then sees Snorlax fall down fast and hit it with a Body Slam creating a dust cloud. When the dust clears everyone can see Snorlax lying on top of Slaking who's groaning in pain as Rudy speaks.

"Slaking get Snorlax off you!" Rudy calls as Slaking manages to push Snorlax off itself. Once Slaking does that it looks at Snorlax and lifts its arms as Rudy speaks.

"Now use Hammer Arm!" "Snorlax Sleep Talk!" Both trainers call Slaking's arms glow white the mon lets out a roar and goes to slam them on Snorlax. But Snorlax manages to dodge the attack by rolling away making Slaking slam its arms on the battlefield instead. After that Snorlax stands back up, gains an orange outline on his body runs forward and rams his right shoulder into Slaking. Slaking's sent flying a few feet away landing on its back groaning in pain, then when Slaking stands back up Snorlax is finally awake. Snorlax looks around as Ash speaks.

"Great Snorlax you're finally awake now use Hammer Arm!" Ash calls Snorlax nods as he runs forward covers his right arm in white energy and punches Slaking hard across the face causing super effective damage. Slaking groans in pain but then clinches its right fist as Rudy speaks.

"Slaking use Counter!" Rudy calls Slaking's right fist glows orange as it punches Snorlax hard in the face sending the mon flying as he lands on the battlefield a few feet away creating a dust cloud as Ash speaks.

"Snorlax!" Ash calls in worry as when the dust clears it showcases Snorlax groaning in pain, but he then stands back up and looks at Slaking as Ash speaks.

"Great job Snorlax now let's finish this. Use Work Up Then Hyper Beam!" Ash calls Snorlax lets out a mighty roar as he increases his attack and special attack power. Snorlax creates a big orange ball then fires it forward sending out a large beam that heads for Slaking as Rudy speaks.

"Dodge Slaking!" Rudy calls but Slaking can't dodge because of its Truant ability as the Hyper Beam then hits the mon creating an explosion as Rudy speaks.

"Slaking!" Rudy calls in worry as when the smoke clears everyone can see Slaking lying on its back knocked out as the ref makes the call.

"Slaking's unable to battle the first round goes to Snorlax!" The ref says making Ash smile as he speaks.

"Alright! We won the first round!" "Pika!" Ash along with Pikachu cheer as Snorlax smiles and flexes his muscles. Up in the hot air balloon Leaf along with Tracey let out a loud cheer as Marie speaks.

"Ah Rudy lost the first round." Marie says while having a sad look on her face. With Misty her Togepi lets out a happy cheer while Misty smiles slightly. Meanwhile back on the battlefield Rudy's a little surprised that Slaking lost but smiles as he returns the mon and tells it thank you. Meanwhile on the other side of the battlefield Ash looks at Snorlax and speaks.

"Great job Snorlax I knew you could do it!" Ash says with Snorlax nodding as the mon then lets out a yawn falls on his back again and goes asleep. Ash along with Pikachu are a little surprised but then smile as Ash speaks.

"Yeah, that's to be expected Snorlax return" Ash says returning the mon back to his ball. Once he does Ash looks at the ball telling Snorlax thank you as he then puts the ball back on his belt Rudy speaks.

"I'll admit your Snorlax was pretty strong and the way you had it use Sleep Talk and also take advantage of my Slaking's Truant ability was pretty smart. But tricks like that won't work on my next Pokémon. Now! Pangoro come out!" Rudy says as he throws the ball forward sending out a Pangoro. Once the mon appears it has a serious look on its face and punches its fists together waiting for its opponent as Ash speaks.

"So, a Pangoro's next meaning that it's your turn." Ash says while looking at his next Pokeball he then looks forward and speaks.

"Kingambit, I choose you!" Ash says he throws the ball forward and sends out the mon. Once Kingambit appears he looks at Pangoro and gets in a battle stance with Pangoro doing the same. Up in the hot air balloon Tracey speaks.

"So now it's a battle between Pangoro and Kingambit. Ash's Kingambit is at a slight disadvantage as he's a steel/dark type while Pangoro is a fighting/dark type meaning that its fighting type moves will be super effective on Kingambit if they land." Tracey says as Leaf speaks.

"True but remember Ash's Kingambit does have moves that are super effective against fighting types too." Leaf says with Tracey nodding as they look back at the battlefield. Marie continues to cheer on Rudy while Misty continues to watch as back on the battlefield Ash looks at Kingambit and speaks.

"Let's do this Kingambit!" "Pika!" Ash along with Pikachu cheer with Kingambit nodding as Rudy speaks.

"Pangoro don't go easy on them" Rudy says with the mon nodding as the ref speaks.

"Let the second round begin!" The ref calls for the battle to begin as Rudy speaks.

"We'll go first this time. Pangoro use Power-Up Punch!" Rudy calls Pangoro, covers both of its fists in orange energy and is about to run forward as Ash calls for a command.

"Kingambit use Sucker Punch!" Ash calls Kingambit disappears then reappears in front of Pangoro and punches it hard across the face with its right fist. Pangoro groans a little in pain then looks at Kingambit and clinches its right fist as Rudy speaks.

"Now Power-Up Punch!" "Kingambit counter with Iron Head!" Both trainers' call. Pangoro's right fist glows orange while the blade on Kingambit's head glows in steel energy, the 2 mons then collide creating an explosion and slide away from each other. Once they do Kingambit stops himself as he looks at Pangoro Ash calls for his next command.

"Now Kingambit use Air Slash!" Ash calls the blade on Kingambit's head glows as it begins firing multiple slashes of wind that head for Pangoro as Rudy speaks.

"Pangoro use Darkest Lariat!" Rudy calls Pangoro, covers both of its hands in dark energy and begins to spin easily deflecting all of the slashes of wind. Once Pangoro does that it looks forward and sees Kingambit charging up something as Ash speaks.

"Now use Flash Cannon!" Ash calls Kingambit fires the steel beam that heads for Pangoro as Rudy speaks.

"Get rid of it with Power-Up Punch!" Rudy calls Pangoro covers its right fist in orange energy and punches the Flash Cannon easily destroying it. When that happens Kingambit appears in front of Pangoro and has his blade ready as Ash speaks.

"Now use Iron Head!" Ash calls Kingambit covers the blade on the top of his head in steel energy and goes to hit Pangoro as Rudy speaks.

"Pangoro dodge then use Circle Throw!" Rudy calls Pangoro quickly jumps back avoiding Kingambit's attack as he slashes the ground instead. Pangoro shoots forward, grabs Kingambit's blade and begins to spin around. Pangoro continues to spin until it lets go of Kingambit sending the mon flying as he lands back on the ground a few feet away. Kingambit groans a little in pain as Rudy speaks.

"Now Pangoro use Hammer Arm!" "Kingambit dodge then use Air Slash!" Both trainers' call. Pangoro's left fist glows white as it jumps forward and goes to hit Kingambit. Kingambit quickly jumps back avoiding the attack as Pangoro punches the ground instead. Kingambit lands a few feet away his blade glows and begins firing multiple slashes of wind that head for Pangoro as Rudy speaks.

"Pangoro knock them away with Darkest Lariat!" Rudy calls Pangoro covers its hands in dark energy and spins around easily deflecting all of the slashes of wind as Ash speaks.

"Now Kingambit use Swords Dance then Giga Impact!" Ash calls Kingambit sharply increases his attack power then incases his body in an orange sphere with purple streaks and shoots forward heading for Pangoro as Rudy speaks.

"Pangoro counter with Superpower!" Rudy calls Pangoro gets rid of the last Air Slash and looks forward seeing Kingambit heading for it. Pangoro roars as it bulks up its body shoots forward and collides with Kingambit. When the 2 mons collide, they begin pushing each other back and forth as Ash speaks.

"Come on Kingambit!" Ash cheers as Kingambit roars increasing the power of his Giga Impact and begins to push Pangoro back as Rudy speaks.

"Pangoro use Hyper Voice!" Rudy calls before Kingambit can knock Pangoro away. The bear lets out a loud roar that hurts Kingambit's ears and causes the mon to stop as Rudy speaks.

"Now use Superpower!" "Kingambit dodge!" Both trainers' call. Kingambit can't dodge in time as Pangoro quickly bulks up its body shoots forward and rams its left shoulder into Kingambit causing super effective damage. Kingambit's sent flying crashing on the battlefield a few feet away and creating a dust cloud as Ash speaks.

"Kingambit!" Ash calls in worry as when the smoke clears Kingambit's groaning in pain as Rudy speaks.

"Well then I believe it's time for us to end this Pangoro use Superpower again!" Rudy calls Pangoro roars as it bulks up its body and runs forward heading for Kingambit. Up in the hot air balloon Misty, Leaf, and Tracey have worried looks on their faces as they see Pangoro reach Kingambit and goes to punch the mon with its left fist as Ash smirks and speaks.

"Sorry Rudy but we're winning this. Kingambit use Kowtow Cleave!" Ash calls just when Pangoro's about to hit Kingambit the long blade Pokémon quickly gets in a kowtowing stance making it seem like he gives up. This causes Pangoro to stop and look at the mon as Rudy speaks.

"Pangoro don't fall for it it's a trap!" "It's too late do it Kingambit!" Both trainers' call. Before Pangoro can get away Kingambit stands back up covers his blade in dark energy and slashes Pangoro doing major damage to the mon as Ash speaks.

"Now finish it off with Air Slash!" Ash calls before Rudy can tell Pangoro to dodge Kingambit fires multiple slashes of wind that connect with Pangoro causing super effective damage along with multiple explosions. When the Air Slash stops the smoke begins to clear and when it fully clears everyone sees Pangoro standing. But then a few seconds later Pangoro falls on its stomach knocked out as the ref speaks.

"Pangoro's unable to battle this round goes to Kingambit!" The ref calls causing Ash along with Pikachu and Kingambit to cheer. Up in the hot air balloon Leaf along with Tracey cheer too as Misty speaks.

"Rudy's second Pokémon went down" Misty says as Marie speaks.

"True but my brother's not done yet as he's just getting started" Marie says with Misty nodding as she continues to look at the battlefield. Back on the battlefield Rudy along with Ash return their Pokémon telling them good job. Ash then looks forward and speaks.

"Would you look at that I've taken down 2 of your Pokémon just 4 more to go and that badge is mine" Ash says while having a confident look on his face as Rudy speaks.

"True you may be in the lead now but not for long as our next Pokémon battling will be our ice types" Rudy says while holding a Pokeball forward as Ash speaks.

"Okay but my ice type won't lose to yours" Ash says while also holding a Pokeball as the 2 boys speak.

"Come Out Glalie!" "Darmanitan it's your turn!" Both trainers say as they throw their Pokeball's forward. Rudy sends out a Glalie while Ash sends out his Galarian Darmanitan. The 2 mons look at each other and the ref calls for the 3rd round to begin as Ash speaks.

"Darmanitan use Fire Punch!" Ash calls Darmanitan covers his right fist in fire and jumps forward going to hit Glalie as Rudy speaks.

"Dodge Glalie then use Gyro Ball!" Rudy calls Glalie quickly dodges Darmanitan's attack as it then covers its body in steel energy spins forward and hits Darmanitan causing super effective damage. Darmanitan's sent sliding a few feet away as Rudy speaks.

"Now use Icicle Crash!" Rudy calls Glalie roars to the sky summoning multiple large icicles that come raining down towards Darmanitan as Ash speaks.

"Darmanitan dodge run towards Glalie and when you get close use Superpower!" Ash calls Darmanitan nods as he begins running around the battlefield easily dodging the large icicles. Darmanitan dodges one more he begins running towards Glalie and jumps towards it. Darmanitan bulks up his body and goes to hit Glalie with his right fist as Rudy smirks and speaks.

"Now Glalie use Sheer Cold!" Rudy calls "It know Sheer Cold?!" Ash says in surprise as before he's about to tell Darmanitan to dodge Glalie fires out a massive wave of ice that freezes Darmanitan completely and part of the battlefield. Up in the hot air balloon Ash's friends are surprised as Tracey speaks.

"I didn't know his Glalie had Sheer Cold" Tracey says as Leaf speaks.

"But Darmanitan can break out of it right? I've seen it happen before with one of my friends Pokémon back on the SS. Anne" Leaf asks as Tracey speaks.

"While it is possible for a Pokémon to break out of Sheer Cold most of the time it's an instant knock out also Ash's Darmanitan didn't use any fire type moves before being frozen." Tracey says with Leaf nodding as Marie looks at Misty and speaks.

"See what did I tell you Misty my brother made a comeback" Marie says with Misty nodding as she continues to watch the battle. Back on the battlefield ash looks at the frozen Darmanitan and speaks.

"Darmanitan break out of their with Fire Punch!" Ash calls but gets no response from the mon as Rudy speaks.

"Give up there's no way that your Darmanitan can break out of Sheer Cold as it's a move that can knock out a Pokémon instantly so you should just return your Darmanitan and send out your next Pokémon." Rudy says as Ash speaks.

"No way Darmanitan can still battle!" Ash responds as Rudy speaks.

"And what makes you say that?" Rudy asks as Ash speaks.

"Because I can still feel Darmanitan burning with determination to continue!" Ash answers while having a serious look on his face as Rudy lets out a sigh and speaks.

"Okay but even if your Darmanitan somehow breaks out witch I doubt it'll be severely weakened from being frozen meaning that Glalie will still win in the end." Rudy says as Ash speaks.

"Well, I disagree as I believe that Darmanitan can still win!" Ash responds while Rudy rolls his eyes Ash looks over at Darmanitan and speaks.

"Come on Darmanitan break out of that Ice I know that you're not stopping here you want to continue battling and win. So, break out of there Darmanitan!" Ash says giving Darmanitan encouragement. We now come over to the frozen Darmanitan and go inside his mind. Inside Darmanitan's mind he's thinking of just how cold being in this ice is and is slowly losing strength. Just when Darmanitan's about to give up he then suddenly hears Ash's voice calling out to him telling him to continue fighting. Darmanitan hears Ash's words but doesn't know if he can continue as he can't break out of the ice. Suddenly Darmanitan feels fire burning inside him, Darmanitan's surprised as he didn't know that he had this power in him but knows that this will help him break free. Darmanitan gets a determined look on his face and begins to heat up his body. Meanwhile outside of Darmanitan's mind everyone continues to look at the frozen mon and just when the refs about to call that Darmanitan's knocked out he along with everyone else notice the ice starting to melt as Rudy speaks.

"The ice is melting?!" Rudy says while having a surprised look on his face as Ash speaks.

"See I told you not to underestimate my Darmanitan. Now Darmanitan break free!" Ash cheers as everyone looks on and see Darmanitan break out of the ice. Once he does Darmanitan's body is glowing with heat as his body begins to change surprising everyone as Leaf speaks.

"Is Darmanitan evolving?" Leaf asks as Tracey speaks.

"No, it's something else" Tracey says as he along with everyone continues to look as Darmanitan finishes. Once Darmanitan's done changing it now looks more like a snow man, with his face on his stomach, has 2 hands on both sides of his body and has a burning nose in the shape of a carrot. Everyone has surprised looks on their faces as Rudy speaks.

"It entered it's Zen Mode?!" Rudy says in surprise as Ash speaks.

"Zen Mode?" Ash questions as up in the hot air balloon Misty speaks.

"What's Zen Mode?" Misty asks as Tracey speaks.

"Zen Mode is an ability that only Unovian Darmanitan and Galarian Darmanitan have. The ability activates when the user's health is halved, and it cannot only change the Pokémon's appearance but their typing as well. For Unovian Darmanitan they become a Fire/Psychic type while Galarian Darmanitan becomes an Ice/Fire type." Tracey answers with the 2 girls nodding as Misty speaks.

"So, since the Sheer Cold cut Darmanitan's health in have it allowed his ability to activate?" Misty asks with Tracey nodding as Leaf speaks.

"So, Cool! It makes me want to catch my own Darmanitan." Leaf says with stars in her eyes. Meanwhile back on the battlefield Ash learned what Zen Mode is thanks to his Pokedex and learned that Darmanitan's typing changed as well. Ash has a smile on his face and speaks.

"Wow you're now an Ice/Fire type Darmanitan and it looks like you learned a new move too." Ash says as Rudy loses his shocked face and speaks.

"Geez it's one surprise after another with this guy." Rudy says to himself while smiling as he then gets serious and calls for a command.

"Glalie use Shadow Ball!" Rudy calls Glalie creates a ball of ghostly energy and fires it towards Darmanitan as Ash speaks.

"Darmanitan punch it back with Fire Punch!" Ash calls Darmanitan covers his right fist in fire and punches the ghostly ball back towards Glalie as Rudy speaks.

"Dodge Glalie then use Gyro Ball!" Rudy calls Glalie easily dodges the ghostly ball as it then covers its body in steel energy and begins heading for Darmanitan as Ash speaks.

"Okay Darmanitan I think it's time to show off your new move use Flame Wheel!" Ash calls Darmanitan nods as he becomes a wheel of fire shoots forward and collides with Glalie. Glalie tries to knock Darmanitan away, but Darmanitan manages to break through Glalie's Gyro Ball and hit the mon causing super effective damage. Glalie's sent flying a few feet away, it groans a little in pain as it then bursts into flames gaining the burn status. Rudy has a surprised look on his face as Ash smiles and speaks.

"Alright Darmanitan let's finish this use Flame Wheel!" Ash calls Darmanitan jumps in the air becomes a wheel of fire and begins heading for Glalie. Just when Darmanitan's about to hit Glalie Rudy speaks.

"Glalie use Explosion!" Rudy calls "What?!" Ash says in shock as Glalie glows white then explodes creating a strong wind as Ash speaks.

"Darmanitan!" Ash calls in worry as when the smoke clears everyone looks at the battlefield. They see the 2-mons laying on the ground, Glalie has its eyes closed with Darmanitan having his eyes closed too as he then reverts back to his normal form the ref makes the call.

"Glalie along with Darmanitan are unable to battle making this a tie!" The ref says surprising everyone as Leaf speaks.

"A tie?" Leaf says in surprise as Tracey speaks.

"Rudy knew that if Darmanitan's Flame Wheel landed Darmanitan would've won so he called for Glalie to use Explosion resulting this round in a tie." Tracey says with Leaf nodding. Back on the battlefield Rudy along with Ash return their Pokémon back to their Pokeball's Ash then looks at Darmanitan's Pokeball and speaks.

"Thank you Darmanitan you did great take a good rest" Ash says as he then puts the ball back on his belt he then looks over at Rudy and speaks.

"I wasn't expecting you to call for Explosion" Ash says as Rudy speaks.

"Honestly I wasn't expecting it myself but there were no other options" Rudy says with Ash nodding as Rudy then pulls out a Pokeball and speaks.

"Even though that battle ended in a tie this next one won't. Now! Mr. Mime come out!" Rudy says as he throws the ball forward and sends out a Mr. Mime who has a smile on its face. Ash looks at the mon and speaks.

"So, a Mr. Mime's next meaning that we're now using fairy type Pokémon." Ash says as he pulls out his next Pokeball looks forward and speaks.

"Clefable, I choose you!" Ash says as he throws the ball forward and sends out Clefable who has an excited look on her face and is ready to battle as Leaf speaks.

"Nice Clefable's Ash's next Pokémon." Leaf says as Tracey speaks.

"Yeah, but he's also going up against a Mr. Mime who can be a tricky Pokémon to battle so he'll need to be careful" Tracey says with Leaf nodding. Marie continues to cheer for her brother while Misty looks on. Back on the battlefield the ref calls for the battle to continue as Ash and Rudy speak.

"Use Psychic!" Both trainers call as the 2 mons each fire waves of psychic energy that collide. The 2 psychic waves go back and forth for a little while until they eventually cancel each other out as Ash speaks.

"Looks like their Psychic attacks are even okay let's try something else. Clefable use Moonblast!" Ash calls Clefable creates a pink orb of fairy energy and fires it towards Mr. Mime as Rudy speaks.

"Mr. Mime use Protect!" Rudy calls Mr. Mime, quickly summons a protective barrier and blocks the Moonblast as it creates an explosion. When the explosion along with the protective barrier disappears Mr. Mime along with Rudy look forward and see that Clefable's gone as Rudy speaks.

"Where'd it go?" Rudy says as Mr. Mime feels something moving from underneath Ash speaks.

"Now Clefable hit it with Dig!" Ash calls as out from underneath Mr. Mime appears Clefable as she uppercuts Mr. Mime with her left fist sending the mon flying high in the air surprising Rudy as Ash speaks.

"Now use Moonblast!" Ash calls Clefable quickly creates a pink orb of fairy energy and fires it towards Mr. Mime as Rudy speaks.

"Send it back with Psychic!" Rudy calls Mr. Mime fires the waves of psychic energy that connects with the Moonblast and sends it back towards Clefable as Ash speaks.

"Clefable dodge!" Ash calls Clefable quickly jumps back avoiding the Moonblast as it hits the battlefield. Mr. Mime then lands back on the battlefield and looks at Clefable as Rudy speaks.

"Now use Mystical Fire!" Rudy calls Mr. Mime waves its hands around and launches a red/orange stream of fire that heads for Clefable as Ash speaks.

"Clefable use Psychic to disperse it!" Ash calls Clefable fires the waves of psychic energy that connect with the stream of fire and break it in half causing the move to disappear. When that happens, Clefable looks forward and sees Mr. Mime building up something as Rudy speaks.

"Now Hyper Beam!" Rudy calls Mr. Mime fires a big orange blast that hits Clefable creating an explosion as Ash speaks.

"Clefable!" Ash calls in worry as when the smoke clears Clefable's still standing but is groaning in pain. Suddenly Mr. Mime then appears in front of Clefable, it has its right fist ready as Rudy speaks.

"Use Thunder Punch!" "Clefable use Psychic on yourself then fly in the air to dodge!" Both trainers' call. Mr. Mime covers its right fist in electricity and goes to hit Clefable. But Clefable quickly uses Psychic on herself allowing her to fly in the air and dodge the attack. Clefable's now floating in the air as Rudy speaks.

"It can fly?!" Rudy says in surprise as Ash speaks.

"Yep, she can and now it's our turn to attack! Clefable use Psychic to hold Mr. Mime in place then use Moonblast!" Ash calls Clefable quickly fires the psychic waves that connect with Mr. Mime and restrains the mon. Now that Mr. Mime can't move Clefable lifts her hands above her head and creates a big Moonblast as Ash speaks.

"Okay Clefable now throw it!" Ash calls with Clefable nodding as she goes to throw the move Rudy smirks then speaks.

"Sorry to tell you this Ash but that's not going to work. Mr. Mime use Sucker Punch then Nasty Plot!" Rudy calls Mr. Mime, covers its fists in dark energy, breaks out of the psychic hold and reaches Clefable instantly. Mr. Mime then punches Clefable hard across the face with its left fist then sharply raises its special attack power. Clefable then looks at Mr. Mime and has her Moonblast ready as Ash speaks.

"Clefable fire the Moonblast!" Ash calls Clefable lets out a loud "Clef!" and fires the Moonblast at Mr. Mime as Rudy speaks.

"Use Mirror Coat!" Rudy calls surprising Ash as before he can tell Clefable to stop the Moonblast hits Mr. Mime creating an explosion. Out of the explosion appears Mr. Mime, it has scratches all over its body then looks at Clefable and summons a glowing mirror as Ash speaks.

"Clefable quick get out of there!" "Fire Mr. Mime!" Both trainers' call. Before Clefable can dodge Mr. Mime's mirror glows and fires out a beam of light that hits Clefable which sends her crashing down on the battlefield creating an explosion as Ash speaks.

"Clefable!" Ash calls in worry as Rudy's Mr. Mime lands on the battlefield and looks forward. When the smoke clears everyone can see that Clefable's lying on her back and is knocked out as the ref speaks.

"Clefable's unable to battle this round goes to Mr. Mime!" The ref says making Rudy and Mr. Mime smile. Meanwhile up in the hot air balloon Marie along with Rudy's gym trainers cheer while Misty, Leaf, and Tracey are surprised as Leaf speaks.

"I can't believe that Clefable got taken out that quickly" Leaf says as Tracey speaks.

"Unfortunately, since Rudy had his Mr. Mime use a combination of Nasty Plot and Mirror Coat. Nasty Plot increased Mr. Mime's special attack while Mirror Coat absorbed the Moonblast and sent it back at Clefable with double the force and knocking her out." Tracey says with Leaf nodding. Back on the battlefield Ash returns Clefable back to her Pokeball, tells her thank you, and puts her back on his belt. Ash then looks forward and sees Rudy return Mr. Mime back to its Pokeball as he then looks at Ash and speaks.

"Your Clefable was strong Ash, but my Mr. Mime came out on top in the end." Rudy says as Ash speaks.

"Please you just got lucky because of that Mirror Coat landing if it wasn't for that Clefable would've won." Ash responds making Rudy smirk as he pulls out his next Pokeball and speaks.

"Anyway, shall we continue the next Pokémon that we'll be using is our rock types. Now! Barbaracle come out!" Rudy says as he throws the ball forward and sends out a Barbaracle. The mon has a serious look on its face as Ash speaks.

"So, a Barbaracle's next" Ash says as he pulls out his next Pokeball and speaks.

"Rhyperior, I choose you!" Ash says as he throws the ball forward and sends out his Rhyperior who lets out a mighty roar creating a shockwave. Rhyperior then looks at Barbaracle with the mon looking at it, up in the hot air balloon Tracey speaks.

"Now it's a battle between rock types" Tracey says as Leaf speaks.

"Ash's Rhyperior has a slight type disadvantage because Barbaracle's part water type but with Rhyperior's power he should still be able to win." Leaf says with Tracey nodding. Back on the battlefield Ash looks at Rhyperior and speaks.

"Rhyperior let's win this for Clefable!" Ash says with Rhyperior nodding as Rudy speaks.

"I'm counting on you Barbaracle." Rudy says with the mon nodding as it along with Rhyperior get into battle stances. The ref calls for the battle to begin as Rudy speaks.

"Use Scald!" Rudy calls Barbaracle, fires out a hot stream of water from its mouth that goes to hit Rhyperior as Ash speaks.

"Rhyperior knock it away!" Ash calls when the Scald goes to hit Rhyperior the mon swings out her right arm and easily gets rid of the hot water. When that happens Barbaracle appears in front of Rhyperior as Rudy speaks.

"Now use Liquidation!" "Rhyperior block!" Both trainers' call. Barbaracle creates two water swords and goes to hit Rhyperior with them, but Rhyperior quickly brings up her arms and blocks the attack. Rhyperior's sent sliding back a few feet away as she then looks at Barbaracle Ash speaks.

"Now use Earthquake!" Ash calls Rhyperior lifts up her right foot and stomps hard on the battlefield causing it to shake as Rudy speaks.

"Barbaracle jump in the air to dodge!" Rudy calls before the shaking can hit Barbaracle the mon quickly jumps in the air and avoids the attack as Ash speaks.

"Now use Stone Edge then Drill Run!" Ash calls before Rudy can call for a command Rhyperior creates a large sharp stone throws it at Barbaracle and hits it knocking the mon out of the air. As Barbaracle's falling Rhyperior becomes a drill shoots forward and hits Barbaracle causing super effective damage as the mon is sent landing back on the battlefield a few feet away and creating a dust cloud as Rudy speaks.

"Barbaracle!" Rudy calls in worry as when the dust clears, Barbaracle's lying on its back groaning in pain. Barbaracle then stands back up and looks at Rhyperior as Ash speaks.

"So, it can still battle. Okay Rhyperior do another Drill Run!" Ash calls Rhyperior turns into a drill and shoots forward heading for Barbaracle as Rudy speaks.

"Barbaracle dodge then use Hone Claws and Liquidation!" Rudy calls as Rhyperior goes to hit Barbaracle the mon quickly moves to the left dodging the attack and making Rhyperior stop. Barbaracle quickly increases its attack power along with its accuracy, jumps forward while creating two water swords, and slashes Rhyperior causing super effective damage to her as Rudy speaks.

"Use Liquidation again!" "Rhyperior use Dig!" Both trainers' call. Barbaracle goes to hit Rhyperior again, but the drill mon quickly digs underground dodging the attack. Barbaracle then feels something moving underneath it as Rudy speaks.

"Dodge Barbaracle then use Liquidation!" Rudy calls Barbaracle quickly jumps back landing a few feet away as Rhyperior appears from the ground. Barbaracle then summons two water swords and shoots forward reaching Rhyperior instantly. Barbaracle goes to hit Rhyperior with its water swords as Ash speaks.

"Rhyperior catch them!" Ash calls as Rhyperior manages to catch the two swords before they could hit her. The 2 mons are now locked in a grapple trying to overpower each other, Barbaracle tries pushing down more but Rhyperior's unfazed as she begins to easily overpower Barbaracle and is about to destroy the 2 water swords as Rudy speaks.

"Now use Scald!" Rudy calls before Ash can say anything Barbaracle shoots out a hot stream of water from its mouth and hits Rhyperior's face causing her to let go of the blades and stumble back a little bit as Ash speaks.

"Are you okay Rhyperior?!" Ash asks with Rhyperior nodding as suddenly she then bursts into flames and begins to roar in pain surprising Ash as he speaks.

"Oh no she got the burn status!" Ash says as Rudy speaks.

"Now then I believe it's time we end this. Barbaracle use Surf!" Rudy calls Barbaracle, lets out a mighty roar summoning a large wave of water and begins riding on top of it as it heads for Rhyperior Ash speaks.

"Rhyperior counter with Rock Wrecker!" Ash calls when the flames go away. Rhyperior looks at the large wave of water heading for her. Rhyperior puts her arms together creates a large boulder and throws it at the Surf. When the 2 attacks connect the Surf easily destroys the boulder surprising Ash and Rhyperior as Rudy speaks.

"And that's checkmate" Rudy says as he snaps his fingers Ash speaks.

"Rhyperior quick use Dig to dodge!" Ash calls when Rhyperior's about to dig she's then consumed in fire causing her to stop. After that the large wave of water comes crashing down on Rhyperior causing super effective damage and making her cry out in pain as Ash speaks.

"Rhyperior!" Ash calls in worry as when the water goes away everyone can see Barbaracle standing while looking at an unconscious Rhyperior who's lying on her back the ref makes the call.

"Rhyperior's unable to battle this round goes to Barbaracle!" The ref says making Barbaracle roar in victory while Rudy smiles. Up in the hot air balloon Leaf speaks.

"Darn Rhyperior lost" Leaf says as Tracey speaks.

"If it wasn't for the burn status hindering Rhyperior's movements she could've lasted longer and maybe won." Tracey says with Leaf nodding as Marie speaks.

"Yay! Rudy defeated another one of his Pokémon! Did you see that, Misty?" Marie says enthusiastically as Misty looks at her and nods making Marie happy. Misty then looks at the battlefield and is concerned for Ash as back on the battlefield Ash returns Rhyperior back to her Pokeball. Ash then looks at the ball and speaks.

"Sorry for not having you do so well in your battle debut with me Rhyperior, but I promise that next time it'll be different." Ash says as he then puts the ball back on his belt then looks forward and sees Rudy return Barbaracle back to its Pokeball. Rudy looks over at Ash and speaks.

"Well would you look at that we both have one Pokémon type left being our dragon types." Rudy says as Ash speaks.

"Yeah, and mine's going to win!" Ash states while holding the Pokeball forward making Rudy smirk as the ref speaks.

"This is the final round both trainers have 1 Pokémon left whoever knocks out their opponents Pokémon first will be declared the winner!" The ref says with the 2 boys nodding as the ref continues to speak.

"Now will both trainers please send out your final Pokémon!" The ref says as Ash speaks.

"Dragonair, I choose you!" Ash says as he throws the ball forward and sends out his shiny Dragonair. Once Dragonair appears she lets out a roar flies around in the sky for a little bit then lands on the battlefield. Rudy along with his gym trainers and his sister Marie are surprised to see a shiny Dragonair as Marie speaks.

"I've never seen a shiny Dragonair before it's pretty!" Marie says with stars in her eyes as back on the battlefield Rudy regains his composure as he speaks.

"I never would've thought that you had a shiny Dragonair" Rudy says as Ash speaks.

"Yep, I do, and she'll take down your last Pokémon!" Ash states with Dragonair agreeing with him as Rudy smirks and speaks.

"Heh we'll see about that as my lasts one's strong. Exeggutor it's show time!" Rudy says as he throws the ball forward and sends out the mon. When the mon appears, it looks different from a regular Exeggutor as it has a tail (with a face on it) and a very long neck. The 3 heads all have smiles on their faces as Ash speaks.

"That's an Exeggutor?" Ash questions as he along with Leaf pull out their Pokedex's to scan the mon.

"Exeggutor Alolan form the Coconut Pokémon and a Grass/Dragon type. As it grew taller and taller, it outgrew its reliance on psychic powers, while within it awakened the power of the sleeping dragon." The Pokedex's say as Ash speaks.

"So, that's Exeggutor's Alolan form and it's part dragon." Ash says with Rudy nodding as he speaks.

"Yep, and even though it looks goofy Exeggutor has proved to be one of my strongest Pokémon your Dragonair stands no chance." Rudy says while having a confident smile on his face, making Ash annoyed as he speaks.

"We'll see about that! As it doesn't matter how strong your Exeggutor is because my Dragonair will take it down!" Ash states with Dragonair roaring in agreement while Rudy smiles. Up in the hot air balloon Tracey speaks.

"Here it is the final battle" Tracey says as Leaf speaks.

"Go! Ash and Dragonair!" Leaf lets out a loud cheer while Marie along with Rudy's gym trainers cheer for him and Misty continues to stay silent, not sure who she should root for. Back on the battlefield the 2 trainers along with their Pokémon stare at each other in silence waiting for the battle to begin as the ref speaks.

"Now that both trainers have sent out their final Pokémon let the final round begin!" The ref says as both trainers speak.

"Dragonair use Dragon Pulse!" "Exeggutor, you use Dragon Pulse too!" Both trainers call as the 2 dragons fire their own purple draconic beam at each other. The 2 attacks collide creating an explosion as Ash calls for his next command.

"Now Dragonair use Dragon Tail!" Ash calls Dragonair appears out of the smoke she flies up to Exeggutor's face covers her tail in green dragon energy and goes to hit the mon as Rudy speaks.

"Use Protect then Dragon Hammer!" Rudy calls Exeggutor quickly summons a protective barrier and blocks Dragonair's attack. Exeggutor's heads then glow in purple draconic energy and goes to hit Dragonair as Ash speaks.

"Dodge Dragonair!" Ash calls Dragonair quickly flies to the left dodging Exeggutor's attack as the mon slams its heads hard on the battlefield causing it to shake and also creating a large crack surprising Ash and speaks.

"Wow that's strong I'll need to make sure that Dragonair doesn't get hit with that" Ash says to himself as he calls for his next move.

"Now Dragonair use Flamethrower!" Ash calls Dragonair covers her mouth in fire and fires the big stream of fire towards Exeggutor as Rudy speaks.

"Use Psychic to send it back!" Rudy calls Exeggutor looks at the incoming flames it quickly fires the psychic waves catches the Flamethrower and sends it back towards Dragonair as Ash speaks.

"Dodge Dragonair then use Dragon Rush!" Ash calls Dragonair manages to easily dodge the attack. She then lets out a mighty roar as she covers her body in dragon energy and begins heading for Exeggutor as Rudy speaks.

"Counter with Dragon Hammer!" Rudy calls Exeggutor covers its heads in purple draconic energy and collides with Dragonair. The 2 mons go back and forth Dragonair tries her best to knock Exeggutor away, but the mon is too strong. A few seconds later Exeggutor knocks Dragonair away and makes her spin out of control as Rudy speaks.

"Now use Dragon Pulse!" Rudy calls Exeggutor fires a big Dragon Pulse that heads for Dragonair as Ash speaks.

"Dragonair dodge!" Ash calls Dragonair, manages to stop herself from spinning and dodges the Dragon Pulse as Rudy calls for his next command.

"Okay Exeggutor use Psyshock!" Rudy calls Exeggutor summons multiple orbs of psychic energy around itself and fires them towards Dragonair as Ash speaks.

"Dragonair use Agility to dodge!" Ash calls Dragonair nods as she begins to fly around the battlefield easily evading the psychic orbs Dragonair continues to dodge as Rudy speaks.

"Now Dragon Tail!" Rudy calls Exeggutor covers its tail in green dragon energy and goes to hit Dragonair with it as Ash speaks.

"Dodge Dragonair!" Ash calls Dragonair quickly flies up and dodges the tail. When she does Exeggutor appears in front of her as Rudy speaks.

"Now use Psychic!" Rudy calls Exeggutor fires the waves of psychic energy and grabs Dragonair holding her in place as Ash speaks.

"Dragonair get out of there!" Ash calls Dragonair tries but she can't break free. Dragonair then sees Exeggutor covering its heads in purple draconic energy as Rudy speaks.

"Now use Dragon Hammer!" "Dragonair counter with Dragon Pulse!" Both trainers' call. Exeggutor completely covers its heads in purple dragon energy and goes to hit Dragonair. Dragonair quickly fires a big Dragon Pulse that collides with Exeggutor, unfortunately for Dragonair Exeggutor easily cuts through the dragon beam and hits her causing her to crash down hard on the battlefield as Ash speaks.

"Dragonair!" Ash calls in worry as everyone sees a big cloud of smoke. The first one to appear is Exeggutor who lifts up its head and looks down as when the smoke clears everyone can see Dragonair lying on her stomach groaning in pain as Ash speaks.

"Dragonair are you okay?!" Ash asks as Dragonair continues to groan in pain Rudy speaks.

"Looks like this is the end for your Dragonair." Rudy says as he then looks over at Misty and speaks.

"Misty as you can see my love for you has made me strong so in order to showcase that I'll finish this battle in my next move!" Rudy says while looking at Misty as Marie speaks.

"Wow my brother really loves you huh?" Marie asks with Misty nodding as back on the battlefield Rudy looks at Ash and speaks.

"Now Ash it's time for you to taste defeat!" Rudy says as Ash speaks.

"No way I'm not losing!" Ash responds as Rudy speaks.

"Really because looking at your Dragonair she can barely move" Rudy says as Ash looks at Dragonair and sees her struggling to stand up Ash then begins to think.

"I hate to admit it but he's right that one Dragon Hammer did so much damage to Dragonair and she can barely move what can I do now?" Ash says to himself and begins trying to think. Up in the hot air balloon Tracey speaks.

"This is bad if Ash doesn't do something Dragonair's going to lose" Tracey says while having a concerned look on his face as Leaf speaks.

"Come On Ash, you can do it!" Leaf lets out a loud cheer as Marie speaks.

"This is great very soon Rudy's going to win isn't this great Misty!" Marie says while having an excited look on her face as Misty begins to think.

"Ash is having a hard time out there I want to cheer him on, but I don't know if I should what can I do?" Misty says to herself as she then remembers what Leaf said to her last night about following her heart. Misty looks deep inside and then begins to remember all of the times she's spent with Ash. Whether it's hanging out, eating food, playing, training together, arguing with each other, or just traveling together. Misty gets all of those memories and now knows what she must do. She looks at Ash, gets a determined look on her face, takes a deep breath and yells.

"ASH WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Misty yells causing everyone to look at her as Ash speaks.

"Misty" Ash says as Misty continues to speak.

"Why are you freaking out?! You've been in a lot of situations that were a lot tougher than this one. If you keep acting this way, you'll make Dragonair lose and it's the job of the trainer to help their Pokémon grow stronger. So, don't give up Ash KEEP FIGHTING!" Misty yells as she then begins to pant as everyone looks at her Rudy along with Marie have surprised looks on their faces while Leaf, Tracey and Togepi smile. Back on the battlefield Ash smiles too and begins to think.

"Thanks Misty" Ash says to himself as he then looks at Misty and speaks.

"Yeah, I know and I'm just about to counterattack!" Ash says as Misty speaks.

"Well hurry up already!" Misty responds with Ash nodding as he then looks at Dragonair and speaks.

"Dragonair, I know that you're tired, but I know that this isn't enough to beat you so stand up and let's win!" "Pika!" Ash along with Pikachu say. Dragonair hears their voices and continues trying to stand up again as Rudy speaks.

"I won't let you! Exeggutor finish it off with Dragon Pulse!" Rudy calls Exeggutor fires a big Dragon Pulse that heads for Dragonair as Ash speaks.

"Dragonair look out!" Ash yells as Dragonair sees the dragon beam coming and doesn't know if she can dodge. Dragonair then shakes her head saying that she shouldn't think like that as she will manage to dodge and continue to battle no matter what. Dragonair gets a serious look on her face. She looks at the dragon beam as it comes crashing down creating a big explosion along with a small gust of wind as Ash speaks.

"Dragonair!" Ash calls in worry as Rudy speaks.

"That should've done it" Rudy says as he along with everyone else look forward waiting for the smoke to clear. A few seconds later the smoke clears and Dragonair's gone. Everyone has surprised looks on their faces as Rudy speaks.

"Where'd it go?" Rudy says as suddenly something hits Exeggutor hard in the stomach and pushes the mon back as Rudy speaks.

"Exeggutor are you okay?!" Rudy asks with the mon nodding as he speaks.

"What was that?" Rudy questions as he along with everyone looks in the air and see Dragonair floating in the sky as Ash smiles and speaks.

"Dragonair your okay!" Ash says happily with the dragon nodding as Tracey speaks.

"But how did Dragonair dodge?" Tracey questions as Leaf speaks.

"It was quick but when the Dragon Pulse was about to hit Dragonair she suddenly disappeared avoiding the attack then reappeared hitting Exeggutor's chest." Leaf says as Misty speaks.

"Wait does that mean that Dragonair learned Extreme Speed?" Misty asks with Leaf nodding as back on the battlefield Ash heard the conversation looks at Dragonair and speaks.

"Congrats on learning Extreme Speed Dragonair!" Ash says with Dragonair nodding as she smiles Rudy speaks.

"So, it learned Extreme Speed that's fine because Exeggutor can still catch it. Use Psychic!" Rudy calls Exeggutor quickly fires the waves of psychic energy and manages to grab Dragonair holding her in place as Rudy speaks.

"Now use Dragon Hammer!" Rudy calls Exeggutor, covers its heads in purple draconic energy and goes to hit Dragonair as Ash speaks.

"Use Extreme Speed!" Ash calls when Exeggutor's about to hit Dragonair the dragon speeds up breaks out of the psychic and dodges the attack as Exeggutor slams its heads hard on the battlefield instead. Once Exeggutor lifts up its heads it looks for Dragonair but doesn't see her anywhere, suddenly Dragonair appears and hits Exeggutor's right side hard making the mon groan in pain as Rudy speaks.

"Use Psychic!" "Dragonair dodge with Agility then use Dragon Dance!" Both trainers' call. Exeggutor looks at Dragonair and fires the waves of psychic energy, but Dragonair manages to easily dodge and increases her speed. Dragonair then flies high in the air, she covers her body in purple draconic energy and spins around increasing her attack power/speed as Rudy speaks.

"I'm ending this now! Exeggutor use Dragon Pulse!" Rudy calls Exeggutor roars as it fires a big Dragon Pulse that heads for Dragonair. Neither Dragonair nor Ash are worried as Ash speaks.

"Dragonair let's go use Dragon Rush!" Ash calls Dragonair lets out a mighty roar as she covers her body in dragon energy and begins flying towards the Dragon Pulse. As Dragonair and the Dragon Pulse are about to collide Dragonair enters the move and continues heading for Exeggutor surprising Rudy as he speaks.

"What the?!" Rudy says in shock as Ash speaks.

"Do it Dragonair!" "Pika!" Ash along with Pikachu cheer as Dragonair roars and hits Exeggutor hard in the face creating an explosion as Rudy speaks.

"Exeggutor!" Rudy calls in worry as out of the smoke appears Dragonair who flies back down on the battlefield and looks forward. Back to Exeggutor when the smoke clears the mon is groaning in pain as it then falls down on its back showcasing that it can't continue anymore as the ref speaks.

"Exeggutor's unable to battle meaning that Dragonair's the winner. Seeing as the challenger Ash has 3 wins while gym leader Rudy has 2 this means that Ash Ketchum of Pallet Town is the winner!" The ref says surprising Marie along with Rudy's gym trainers as Ash smiles and speaks.

"ALRIGHT!" "PIKA!" Ash along with Pikachu cheer while Dragonair fires a Flamethrower in victory. Up in the hot air balloon Tracey, Leaf, Misty and Togepi cheer as Leaf speaks.

"He did it!" Leaf says happily as Tracey speaks.

"I was worried there a few times" Tracey says while having a relieved smile on his face while Misty looks down and smiles. Back on the battlefield Ash along with Pikachu run over to Dragonair once they make it, they hug the mon as Ash speaks.

"You did it Dragonair great job!" "Pika!" Ash along with Pikachu say making Dragonair smile. Ash then feels his Pokeball's wriggle as Snorlax, Kingambit, Darmanitan, Clefable, and Rhyperior appear out of their Pokeball's. Ash looks at the 5 mons and speaks.

"And I can't forget about you guys you did great too!" Ash says making the 5-mons smile as they all hug Ash. Meanwhile, on the other side of the battlefield Rudy's not only surprised that he lost but is also surprised that Misty cheered for Ash. Rudy then loses his shocked expression as he smiles and speaks.

"So, she chooses Ash" Rudy says as he then returns Exeggutor back to its Pokeball and tells the mon thank you. After that Rudy begins walking towards Ash and his Pokémon. When Rudy gets close enough Ash along with his Pokémon look at him as Rudy speaks.

"Well Ash, you beat me in not only a Pokémon battle but also in love as well, so I reward you with this" Rudy says as he hands Ash a badge that has spikes on it with a red gemstone in the middle. Ash looks at it as Rudy speaks.

"That's called the Spike Shell Badge it's proof of you beating my gym" Rudy says making Ash happy as he speaks.

"We just got the Spike Shell Badge!" "Pi, Pika, Chu!" Ash and Pikachu say as Ash's other Pokémon let out a happy roar. Meanwhile, up in the hot air balloon Marie speaks.

"I'm sad that my brother lost but he along with his Pokémon did great and Ash was amazing" Marie says with Rudy's gym trainers agreeing with her as Misty speaks.

"Yep, Ash really is amazing" Misty says while having a smile on her face as she continues to watch Ash celebrating with his Pokémon. After that 20 minutes pass Misty, Tracey, and Leaf congratulate him. They then headed over to the Pokémon Center so Ash could heal his Pokémon. When that was done the group headed back to the dock they were at, at the beginning of the chapter. Rudy along with Marie, and his gym trainers are there too. Rudy looks at Ash and speaks.

"Congratulations again Ash you're a strong trainer and my Pokémon and I had fun." Rudy says making Ash smile as he speaks.

"Thanks, my Pokémon and I feel the same." Ash says as he along with Rudy shake hands. After that Rudy walks over to Misty and when gets he close enough, he looks at her and speaks.

"So, I take it that you've decided to continue traveling with them?" Rudy asks with Misty nodding as she speaks.

"Yes, while staying here would be nice I feel as though it wouldn't help with my goal of being a Water Pokémon Master so I'm going to continue traveling with my friends until I achieve my goal." Misty responds with Rudy along with Marie nodding as Rudy speaks.

"Well in that case will you please accept these bouquet of flowers as a goodbye?" Rudy asks as he pulls a bouquet of flowers out of nowhere. Misty nods and takes the flowers saying thank you. Meanwhile, off to the side Tracey speaks.

"Wait what did Misty mean about possibly staying here?" Tracey asks as Leaf tells him that last night Rudy asked Misty if she could stay on the island to be a big sister to Marie and help train his gym trainers. Tracey has a surprised look on his face as he speaks.

"What?!" Tracey says in surprise as Leaf sighs. Ash lets out a small chuckle as Rudy looks at Ash and speaks.

"Ash, I have to say you are a lucky guy make sure to take good care of Misty" Rudy says as Ash speaks.

"Of course, I always take care of my friends" Ash responds while having a smile on his face as Rudy speaks.

"Looks like you haven't realized your feelings for her yet" Rudy says, making Ash confused as he speaks.

"Feelings?" Ash questions while Pikachu shakes his head. Marie then goes over to Misty and speaks.

"Are you really leaving Misty?" Marie asks as Misty bends down getting on Marie's eye level and speaks.

"Yes, even though it would've been fun being a big sister for you I still have many things I want to do before I settle down." Misty responds with Marie nodding as she looks at her and speaks.

"Well one day when I'm a Pokémon trainer I'm going to grow up to be a strong and kind water type trainer like you" Marie says while having an excited look on her face making Misty smile and speak.

"In that case once you do come to the Cerulean Gym and I'll battle you but just so you know I won't hold anything back." Misty says making Marie happy as she speaks.

"Let's make it a pinky promise" Marie says with Misty nodding as they do a pinky promise. Back to Rudy he looks at Ash and speaks.

"By the way where will you be going next are you going to head to the final gym?" Rudy asks as Ash speaks.

"We will but before that we're heading over to Mandarin Island as Misty, Leaf, and I are competing in the water tournament there." Ash says with Rudy nodding as Misty walks over to Ash and speaks.

"Oh, Ash you should probably have Prof. Oak send Lapras back to you" Misty says with Ash nodding as he's about to run over to the center Rudy speaks.

"That won't be necessary" Rudy says as he snaps his fingers, and a boat suddenly appears. The group have surprised looks on their faces as Rudy speaks.

"Instead of riding on Lapras you guys should use this boat instead" Rudy says making the group look at him as Ash speaks.

"You're letting us take it to Mandarin Island?" Ash asks with Rudy nodding as he speaks.

"Yep, that's right" Rudy says making the group happy as they all tell him thank you with Rudy smiling at them. After that the group get on the boat and once, they're on it the boat begins to sail forward. As the boat's sailing forward, the group look back towards Rudy, Marie, and his gym trainers and begin waving goodbye with them waving goodbye too. They continue to do that until they can't see each other anymore, once that's over we come back to the group as Leaf speaks.

"That was a pretty fun adventure" Leaf says with the group nodding as Tracey speaks.

"Yep, and now it's time for the Mandarin Island tournament are you all prepared?" Tracey asks as Misty speaks.

"Yes, and I'm going to win!" Misty says while having a determined look on her face as Ash and Leaf speak.

"No way the winner will be me!" The 2 kids say as the 3 trainers look at each other. They continue to look at each other until they then begin to laugh, making Tracey smile. After that they then look forward towards the sunset having excited looks on their faces as the chapter comes to an end.

Thank you for reading if you've made it this far. This was my take on the "Misty has met her match" episode from the anime tell me how did you like it. The chapter for the most part was pretty similar to the episode, but I did try to put my own spin on it so that it wasn't an exact copy as that would be boring.

Next chapter will come out next week it'll focus on the group finally reaching Mandarin Island and before the competition begins, they'll meet some old friends/rivals and Ash challenges one of them to a battle. Who do you think Ash will battle (The next chapter title is going to spoil it) and what other characters do you think will appear for the tournament? Well, you'll just have to wait and see.
