"This is a huge campus and we keep seeing each other," She said, smiling at me.

"It's like we're magnets to each other," I replied. I yawned.

"Did I interrupt your nap time?" She asked.

"I wasn't asleep yet," I said, "I am exhausted though."

"Okay, I'll leave you to it," she said. I reached out and grabbed her hand.

"Wanna hop in?" I asked, innocently. Her cheeks flushed and turned a light pink.

"I-uh-"

"Just for a bit," I clarified, "I'm not trying to be creepy or anything."

She smiled. She looked around before nodding.

"Scooch over," she said. She got into the hammock. It was a tight squeeze but there's no other place I would like to be right now.

"Are you always this friendly with people you've just met?"

"Only the really pretty ones," I said. My eyes were closed and I relaxed under the stream of sunlight hitting my face.

"You haven't texted me," Brittany said.

"You have my number. I don't have yours," I said, "You haven't texted me so that I can text you." I looked over at her. Light freckles dusted her face and her blue eyes looked so bright compared to the sky.

"I wanted to text you last night."

"You should've."

"It was late."

"I'm a night owl."

"You have an answer for everything," she chuckled.

"I'm a future lawyer," I yawned, "I gotta stay quick witted." She giggled. She pulled her phone from her pocket and started typing something.

"Now you have my number," she said. I nodded.

"Well, I got class in 20," she said, climbing out the hammock, "See you around."

"Is that a promise?"

"Yes," she giggled, "Text me!"

I unlocked my front door and made an attempt to tiptoe to my room.

"San?" Quinn's voice rang out. I huffed. I heard her footsteps behind me.

"This is so immature, Santana."

"Yeah yeah," I said, "Santana, not only does she sleep around, she's immature as well."

"San…"

"I told you how much I like Brittany. I dragged you to that coffee shop like everyday for the past few weeks just so I could see her. She isn't some girl that I saw at a Frat party. It was a coffee shop and I was too nervous to approach," I said, "Have you ever seen me act that way with anyone I just wanted to sleep with? I'm so pissed at you, Lucy. So fucking pissed. All these years you've known me, that's what you decide to boil me down to."

"Santana, I'm sorry," She sniffled out, "I-I'm sorry. It's just…San, you've said it yourself, You don't do relationships. How was I supposed to know you actually had a crush on Brittany."

"Because I told you," I said.

A few days have gone by since our blow out. Quinn has made an effort to make sure how sorry she is. She has made chocolate chip waffles every day with a side scrambled eggs, and a piping hot coffee. My anger at her dissipated a day after our fight. I can't stay mad at my best friend for long. The summer semester ended and it was a breeze. Quinn and I picked up more shifts at work for the next week before the hectic mess of the fall semester starts up again.

Luck has been on my side this whole week. Everyday I've been placed inside my favorite ride; The Mummy.

"Santana, summer is almost up and you still have not let me take you out," Dani said. I rolled my eyes.

"Dani, like I've said quite a few times before, not gonna happen," I said. Dani chuckled.

"You know, you being mean to me is only making me want you more." I let out a laugh. A few guests that were in line looked at me. I mouthed a sorry and turned back to Dani.

"You're hilarious."

"I'll try again next summer," Dani said, "Today is my last day here. I'm heading back to USF tomorrow."

"I don't get why you go to that wack ass school," I said, "Join the dark side."

"Transfer to UCF?" Dani chuckled, "Hell no. I actually like to study." I laughed.

"I study."

"Study hard and party harder." We laughed.

"Well, speaking of parties, I'm going to one tonight," I said, "If you're interested."

"I'm not but if you're gonna be wearing something sexy, I might be."

"I always wear something sexy," I said, "I even make this outfit look sexy." Dani smirked.

"Where is it?"

"Windermere."

"Oooh bougie," Dani joked.

"My friend Mercedes is throwing the party. She's cool people," I informed.

"Are you asking me to be your date?" I laughed.

"No, I'm extending the invitation because we're friends."

"You really know how to break a girl's heart."

"And you really know how to be persistent."

To Britt: are you going to the party tonight?

From Britt: If you're there than I am

I slipped on a nice little red dress with the stomach area cut out and flat ironed my hair. I did a light beat and finished the look off with a neutral glossy lip. I checked myself out in the mirror.

"Quinn!" I yelled.

"You don't have to yell, I'm literally right in the living room," she said. Quinn was wearing a simple yellow sundress and white heels. Those aren't going to last long.

"Do I look good? Like if you were Brittany, you would be drooling and wanting to come up to me, right?"

"She does that already," Quinn said. I smiled.

"If that's the case, why hasn't she asked me out?"

"Why haven't you asked her out?"

I felt my cheeks get hot.

"I-I don't know," I said, nervously.

"Oh my, San, you're blushing," Quinn laughed, "You want her to ask you out?"

"It'll be nice to be the askee instead of the asker," I said, "Not to try to put any heteronormative views onto it but asking someone else seems like the man thing to do and I'm constantly doing that. I'm constantly the pursuer. I would like to be pursued as well. I want to get flowers as well and be wined and dined. Sometimes I would like to feel like a princess."

"You are so precious," Quinn said, "Brittany's jaw will be on the floor when she sees you."

The music was blasting when we pulled up to Mercedes block. Cars lined the driveway and the road.

"We should've gotten here earlier," Quinn whined.

"Fuck, Quinn. I heard you the last 5 times you said it."

We had to park pretty far down the road.

We got inside and were instantly handed drinks.I placed my drink down quickly because no way was I gonna drink an already opened drink. Mercedes is good people but I don't know how most of these people are moving. I maneuvered my way to the kitchen to get a new drink. I grabbed a wine cooler for Quinn and I poured myself 2 shots of tequila.

"Damn Santana, you are looking so good."

I turned to see Noah Puckerman standing there.

"Get away from me, Puckerman," I said, pushing him back.

"Santana, one day you're gonna wanna ride the Puckerman express," He said following me to the living room.

"In your dreams, Noah," I said, dismissing him. I sat down on the couch. He winked at Quinn and then walked away. I looked at Quinn who was watching his retreating figure.

"Don't you dare," I said to her.

"I wasn't going to," She said. I rolled my eyes. I scanned the room looking for my leggy blonde.

"Santana Motherfucking Lopez is here!" I heard Mercedes yell. She plopped herself next to me on the couch.

"Mercedes, drunk already?"

"Nope! Just happy to see my favorite fiery Latina," She said, "Plus I heard from a little birdie that you and my home girl Britt got nice and cozy in a hammock the other day."

"What?" Quinn said, choking on her drink. I patted her back.

"Not like that. I was going to take a nap and she came over, I asked her if she wanted to climb in and we just talked."

"What have you done with my hit it and quit it sister?" Mercedes said, dramatically.

"San, wants to get locked down," Quinn chuckled.

"Well there's a first time for everything," Mercedes said. My eyes were still scanning the room.

"She's out back," Mercedes said. I nodded but stayed seated.

"Well…"

"Well what?" I asked. Mercedes rolled her eyes.

"Are you heading back there or not?"

"Nope, she can find me if she really wants too."

"Oh I think she will," she said, pointing to the back of the room. She looked so good. She had on a pair of green and white checkered shorts that stopped mid thigh, a plain white beater, and an oversized orange and pink cardigan. Her hair was up in a messy bun and she had a simple gold chain and gold hoops on. She was leaning up against the back wall with a beer dangling between her fingers as Puckerman was talking to her. She was talking back but her eyes were on me. I gave her a small wave and she gave me a head nod.

"Come on, I want to dance." The DJ started playing some old school songs and Baby Boy by Beyoncé has always been my jam. I started to move my hips and Quinn did the same. I turned around and grinded on Quinn's front. I opened my eyes to see Brittany, in the same spot, looking at me. Our eyes were locked on each other. She lightly kicked off the wall and walked towards the makeshift dance floor. My heart beat sped up. Her finger grazed my stomach as she took Quinn's spot behind me. The dance turned sensual fast. I could feel her body reacting to the way my body was moving. We fit so perfectly together. She spun me around and now we were face to face grinding.

"Hey," she said. She definitely has been drinking for a lot longer than I had thought. Her breath smelled of a mixture of beer and whiskey.

"Hey," I said back. She nuzzled into my neck.

"You look good," She whispered into my ear.

"You're drunk."

"I am drunk but that does not negate the fact that you look really good," she said, "Red looks so good on you." Her hands ran up and down my sides.

"So I've been told," I said. I didn't know how to react to this side of Brittany. So far, I've seen the bubbly Brittany but this Brittany, this…vixen, is something new and I kind of like it.

"You haven't texted me as much as I would've liked," she whispered in my ear, "I want to text you all the time."

"So why don't you?"

"Why don't you?" Our grinding has turned into a sway as our worlds narrowed down into one. My focus purely on Brittany and hers on me. The party was a blur around us.

"I like you and you make me nervous," I admitted. She smirked.

"I know. I like you too," she said. Her hands slid down my back and found its resting place on my hips.

"Let me get you a drink," she said, letting go of me and heading towards the kitchen. My feet were moving, following Brittany, before my brain could register what I was doing.

Brittany haphazardly threw her cardigan on the top of the fridge and started mixing drinks. I could see she had a few script tattoos on her forearm and bicep. I stood too far to see exactly what they say. She handed me a cup as she grabbed a bottle of water.

"What is this?"

"It's a vodka redbull with some cranberry juice," she said. I took a sip.

"How come this is the first party I've seen you at?" I asked. She giggled.

"This is just the first party you've looked for me in," she said, "I go to parties all the time but now I know I'm going to enjoy them." She winked at me and I felt my face heat up. I looked away trying to hide my firetruck red cheeks. I am not the girl that blushes easily.

"Santana, you are so beautiful," she said. I looked up at her.

"Thanks."

"No, I really mean it. I heard about you before I saw you and then when I saw you I was blown away. No description does you justice."

"Stop, you're being nice."

"No, I'm not. I'm being honest. You're breathtaking."

"I could say the same for you, Brittany," I said, "I've been visiting the coffee shop almost all summer just to catch a glimpse of you." Brittany closed the gap between us, her finger grazing my stomach.

"Go out with me," she said, "On a date, next Friday."

"Okay," I said. She smiled.

"I really want to kiss you right now," she said, her lips ghosting over mine, "But I don't kiss before or on a first date." She giggled and created space between us. I shakily took another sip of my drink. Someone came into the kitchen and covered my eyes.

"Guess who!" They uncovered my eyes and Dani stood there.

"Hey Dani," I said. She engulfed me in a hug. Her arms wrapped around my waist as she gave me a kiss on the cheek. I backed up a bit.

"Uh don't do that," I warned. Dani chuckled. Brittany placed a hand on my back.

"Everything good here?" She asked. I looked at Brittany, whose eyes were narrowed on Dani.

"Yeah. Brittany this is Dani, we work together," I told her. She nodded.

"Nice to meet you," Dani said, extending her hand out. Brittany just nodded and shook her hand. Brittany took a step back so she was leaning against the counter and she pulled me back and wrapped her hands around my waist. Dani's smile slowly faded away.

"I uhm… I think I saw someone I know in the backyard," Dani said, "I'll see you around, Santana."

"See you, Dani," I said before turning to face Brittany. Again, the party around us blurred and it was just us.

"You're possessive," I said, playing with the hem of her tank top. I pressed my body flush against hers, ghosting my lips over hers.

"Too bad you don't kiss before or on a first date," I said, creating space between us and walking out the kitchen.

Quinn was plastered. She has always been a lightweight. I found her dancing on a table in the backyard while guys tried taking peeks up her dress.

"Show's over shitbags," I said, grabbing her off the table.

"No, San, those are my friends," she slurred. I rolled my eyes. I pulled her over to one of the various coolers that littered the backyard and handed her a water bottle.

"Drink all of this because I do not want you throwing up in my car," I said.

"We can't drive home San, we're drunk," she slurred.

"We is a lot of people," I said, "I had 3 drinks."

"Okayyyy," she sang. I rolled my eyes. We sat on some lawn chairs as Quinn slowly sipped her water.

"Santana," she said after a beat, "You're my best friend in like the whole world."

"You're my best friend in the whole world too, Lucy."

"Blegh, I hate when you call me that," she said, giggling.

"It is your name," I teased.

"Okay Santana Maria," She teased. We laughed.

"Drink your water, Lucy," I said. She rolled her eyes but sipped some more water.

"But for real, S, I hope we're friends all the way into our eighties."

"You can't get rid of me Quinn," I said, "You're stuck with me. Foreva!"

"Foreva!"

After an hour, and two more water bottles, Quinn was slumped over in the chair and I was sitting there looking up at the stars.

"Santana, you got some funny friends," Dani said plopping down on the chair next to me.

"Who you been talking to?" I asked.

"This dude, Noah, he's a riot," Dani said laughing.

"Worse person you could interact with," I said, "he's a football player that has taken too many hits to the head and is on his last brain cell. And that shit dangling on a thread." Dani laughed.

"Santana, how come you didn't tell me you had a girlfriend?" Dani asked.

"Cause I don't," I said. Dani raised her eyebrow at me.

"Brittany?"

"We're talking. Getting to know each other," I said.

"She didn't make it seem like you were just talking," she said, "She was all grrr with me."

"You did walk up and hug and kiss up on me," I started, "Which you ain't never done before." Dani shrugged.

"I wanted to try a new approach but I won't do that again," she said.

"Good."

"I just came over to tell you that I'm heading out," she said, "Whenever you're in Tampa, hit me up and I'll take you out on the town."

"Alright," I said, "I'll remember that."

"Alright, let me go before your not girlfriend kicks my ass," she said, looking past me. I turned around to see Brittany hanging with this Asian guy. He was talking but I could tell she wasn't really listening. Nursing another bottle of water, she was looking over in my direction. I waved to her. She winked at me. Dani fake gagged. I looked back at her and smacked her shoulder.

"Alright, I'm out," she said.

"Bye Dani," I said. I looked back over to Brittany. She was still staring in my direction. I waved her over. She got up and walked over to me.

"You have a staring problem," I joked. She shrugged.

"I like looking at you," she said.

"You know Britt, the last few times we spoke, you didn't act like this," I said.

"Act like what?"

"This," I said motioning to her.

"It's like you're a different person," I said, "I'm not complaining, this Brittany is just as attractive as the Brittany that laid in the hammock with me the other day. That Brittany was sweet and this one is all.. sexy and I hate that you won't kiss me."

"You trying to make me reconsider?"

"I would love if you did," I said, scooting closer to her and playing with her chain.

"You are a temptress, Santana Lopez."

"And what does that make you?"

"Tempted."
