Chapter 168: Timothy's Revenge Part 4: All's Well That Ends Well
Thomas peered into the darkness of Maithwaite Forest. He was on edge, and every little noise made him flinch, but he knew he had to forge ahead. If he didn't do as the note said, who knew what would happen to Emily.
"Alright Timothy, I came alone as you said. Release Emily!"
"Well, well, well, look who we have here."
Thomas whirled around. Staring right back at him was Samuel Blunt, his right arm wrapped around Emily's throat and a gun pointed at her head.
"I knew there was something I didn't like about you, Blunt."
"Trust me, twinkle toes, the feeling is mutual. Sorry kids, but I can't have you snooping around. I've worked for to long to keep what happened that night under wraps, and you two are to close to discovering the truth."
Thomas's eyes narrowed.
"It was you who caused the accident, isn't it? But why? What could possibly lead you to do such a thing?"
"It was that stupid Timothy! No matter what I did, he always came out on top in the eyes of everybody. I'd been working on the TK&E for five years, but the minute he comes along manager forgets about me! All I ever hear day in, and day out is Timothy this, Timothy that. But the worse part was when he stole Penny from me. I was all set to propose, but he beat me to it the backstabber! But you know what, I could have lived with that. But the last straw came when I found out I was being fired just to save a few bucks. I'd given my whole life for the company and I was being tossed aside just so "perfect" Timothy could flourish! Well, that was the last straw. Little Samuel wasn't going to be a punching bag anymore. One evening before the midnight run, I fixed the brakes. It wasn't easy making it look natural, but you pick up a thing or two from being in the workshops. I hadn't planned on Timothy being on board that night, but I guess Christmas came early for me. The next morning, I gave my testimony to the police, blamed everything on Timothy. I was absolved of all wrongdoing and retired in peace."
At this Samuel cackled like a madman.
"To think, in one night I not only destroyed Timothy's reputation, but also the TK&E's! I don't regret it, those backstabbers all got what they deserved."
His grin turned back into a scowl as he lowered the gun towards Thomas, who raised his hands in surrender.
"You don't need to do this. We won't-"
"You think I'll believe that? The moment I let you and your girlie go; you'll turn me into the police. Well, momma didn't raise no fool, so say you-"
While his attention was on Thomas, Emily made her move and elbowed him in the crotch, forcing him to release her as he howled in pain, a shot going wild into the air as Thomas and Emily made a break for it. Samuel slowly brought himself up, hatred boiling over.
"Alright, now you're gonna get it. When I'm done with you-"
He stopped, freezing as a figure slowly descended onto the ground. Timothy emerged, a large glare on his face. When Samuel found his courage, he sneered.
"I'm not scared of you, Timothy! I killed you once, and I'll be more than happy to do it again."
Once more he fired his gun, the bullet passing through Timothy harmlessly as the specter advanced. Samuel began to be scared.
"You're dead! I killed you, you shouldn't be here! Just die!"
Once more he fired, the bullet having no effect other than making the specter crosser still.
"WHY. WON'T. YOU. DIE!"
Over and over he fired, all with the same effect. At last, Samuel dropped the gun and ran, Timothy in hot pursuit as Thomas and Emily watched from a safe distance.
"What do you think Timothy will do to him."
"I don't know, but I sure wouldn't want to be Blunt right now."
The police arrived an hour later and brought them to safety. Thomas and Emily told them the whole story, minus the parts about Timothy's ghost. The inspector wrote down everything, shaking his head at the end.
"Well, well, well. Looks like we'll need to have a little chat with Mr. Blunt."
A search party combed the forest by that afternoon. They found his body face down in a ditch, eyes wide in fright. There wasn't a mark on him, save for a few scratches from thorns. The coroner shook his head.
"Looks like a heart attack to me. Old heart must have given out from all of the excitement."
His funeral was held that Sunday at Knapford church. Thomas and Emily were one of the only attendees. Samuel didn't have many friends in life, and even fewer after the truth got out.
A few nights later, Thomas led his grandmother out towards Elsbridge. Penny was confused by why he was leading her towards Elsbridge Station
"Thomas? Why are you leading me out here?"
"It's alright, Grandma. There's just someone who's been looking forward to seeing you again."
Penny gasped when she saw who her visitor was. There, standing on the platform was Timothy, looking as lively as he had in life. Slowly, she walked towards him.
"Oh Timothy, I knew I would see you again. I had just hoped it would be under different circumstances."
Timothy smiled sadly as she raised her hand to his cheek. Although it passed through, the sentiment was still felt. Penny smiled, tears of joy streaming down her cheeks.
"Your name has been cleared, Timothy. Samuel can no longer hurt us anymore. You can rest in peace now, dear."
Timothy's smile turned into a frown. Penny smiled for them both.
"Don't worry about me, dear. I have Thomas to look out for me. I'll be up there when my time comes, and we'll have all of eternity to be with each other. I love you, Timothy, and I always will."
Timothy smiled once more, cupping her cheek as he vanished, his spirit finally at peace.
Thomas and his friends never saw Timothy after that. A few years later, Penny passed away from old age, and all her friends and family attended her funeral. Although Thomas was sad to lose her, he was also content in knowing that she and Timothy were together once more and that no matter what, they will always be in his heart.
A/N: And with that, my Halloween special comes to a close. Thank you all for reading this take on an old story. I usually don't read creepypastas, but something about Timothy's tale always brings me back for more. See you guys next time!
