Chapter 2-The House Of Horror

After another few minutes of walking, the turtle brothers eventually came across a large but run-down house.

"Huh? Why is there a house in a place like dis?" Raph questioned in confusion.

"Who knows, Raph, but we're gonna find out…" Leo answered Raph's question before he and his brothers slowly started approaching the house.

Leo reached the door first and, to his surprise, it was not locked when he turned the handle. He opened it slowly, making it creek, and stepped inside with his brothers following his lead.

"Hello? Anyone home?" Leo called out whilst he and his brothers walked further into the house, but there was no reply.

They continued on until they came across a door, which they discovered was locked when Raph tried to open it.

"Looks like we'll need a key to open this door…" Donnie said.

Now even more curious, the turtle brothers kept on walking further down the corridor until they reached another door. This time, it was open, and they all slowly entered the room.

At first, the room was empty, but when the turtles closed the door, they jumped when they saw a bearded man standing next to them and looking at them with dazed eyes. The man then walked away from the trio and headed towards the burning fire whilst muttering to himself in Spanish.

"Err…Sorry to barge in like this, sir…" Leo apologised politely before he and his brothers slowly approached the man.

"We're looking for a police officer. Did he come this way?" Donnie asked in Spanish since he was able to study the language before coming to the country.

The human male didn't answer, and just continued on with doing his thing in front of the fire.

Not getting a response anytime soon, the turtle brothers decided to have a look around the room, and it was then that Leo spotted something on the floor next to his feet. When he crouched down and picked it up, he immediately recognised it as a police badge with a picture of the same officer who was with them earlier, but what worried him the most was that the badge was partially covered in blood.

"Leo, watch out!" Donnie suddenly shouted out to him.

Leo looked up and saw the man about to chop his head off with an axe!

"Whoa!" He cried as he drew one of his katana swords out and blocked the attack.

After an intense minute, Leo managed to push the hostile man away, but he suddenly charged towards him. Thinking on his feet, Leo kicked the man back and causing him to slam hard on the wall, knocking him out and breaking his neck in the process.

"You ok, Leo!?" Raph asked in concern.

"Y-Yeah, I'm fine…" Leo answered shakily whilst catching his breath.

"Well, none of us was expecting that…! Why did he attack us all of a sudden?" Donnie questioned in shock over what had just happened.

"I don't know, but-"

"Aaaaaaahhhhhh!"

Leo started speaking, but he was suddenly cut off by a distant but loud scream which sounded like it was coming from another room.

"What was that?" Donnie questioned nervously.

"Whatever dat was, it didn't sound good…" Raph answered grimly.

"It has to be that missing police officer! Come on, we have to hurry!" Leo speculated, and he was about to hurry over to the other door when he was stopped by Raph.

"Yeah, but we need da key ta get into dat other room, remember?" Raph reminded.

"There's no need to worry about that, Raph; the key is right there…!" Donnie assured as he pointed at the key next to Leo's feet.

After finding and grabbing the key, Leo and his brothers hurried back over to the locked door. He then inserted the key and unlocked it. When they entered the room, they saw that it was dark, so they instantly took out their flashlights and walked on.

During this time, the turtles noticed the large number of hanging traps and weapons, making them feel more nervous on the inside.

"I'm guessin' dat da guy was da cruel huntin' type…" Raph said, breaking the silence.

"It looks that way, Raph…Tread carefully now, guys…" Leo replied.

Soon, the turtles were in front of a tattered old curtain-like sheet. They slowly pulled it to one side and entered through to the other side. Shortly after doing so, they heard a faint crackling noise coming from further down the room.

"What's dat noise?" Raph questioned quietly.

"It sounds like it's coming from over there…" Donnie guessed as he pointed in the direction where the noise was coming from.

The trio continued shining their lights around until they landed on a human body lying on the floor. It was the missing police officer!

"Hey!" Leo cried out before he rushed over to the police officer, with his brothers following him from behind.

When they got closer to him, however, they were horrified at what they saw; the police officer's eyes and mouth were open wide, and his whole face and neck were covered in blood.

"What da shell!?" Raph cussed in horror.

"…H-He's dead…" Donnie announced gravely when he assessed the body.

Just then, they heard a panicked voice coming from the walkie-talkie. Leo immediately picked it up and spoke.

"We read you! What's your situation!?" Leo questioned pressingly.

"Wah! Wa-Aaaaaahhh!" The only response Leo had received was a hysterical and pained cry before being cut off.

"Shell! What the heck is going on!?" Leo exclaimed after slamming the walkie-talkie down in frustration before standing back up.

"Leo, I don't think we're safe in here…We have to get out of here…!" Donnie told Leo fearfully.

"You're right, Donnie, let's go…" Leo agreed before he and his brothers started getting ready to make their way out of the room.

But then…

Bump!

The turtle brothers froze when they heard something bump into the room.

"What was dat?" Raph questioned, his guard now up another level.

"Stay close and don't let your guards down…" Leo commanded quietly before he took point and continued walking on.

Just as the turtles reached the staircase out of the room, they heard someone coming. As soon as the figure arrived at the bottom step, the turtles instantly recognised it as the man who had attacked them earlier, but something wasn't right; there was a weird noise coming from his mouth and little tentacles were sticking out of a few holes in his neck.

"What da shell!?" Raph exclaimed in disgust.

"How is this possible!? We saw him lose consciousness 2 minutes ago!" Donnie questioned in shock and horror.

"We'll figure that out later! Right now, we need to put him out of his misery!" Leo told them firmly before dodging when the zombified-looking man charged towards him.

Seeing this, Raph went in for the attack and struck the man in the neck with one of his sais. The man screamed in pain and collapsed to the ground, but he suddenly started convulsing shortly after. Raph struck him again, this time in the head, and the man finally stopped moving.

"I-Is he…" Leo stuttered, too shocked to say the last word.

"Yeah…he's dead…" Donnie confirmed after checking the man's body for signs of him being alive, but there wasn't.

"What da shell just happened back there…!? I didn't wanna kill him, but I didn't have a choice; he was gonna kill us!" Raph questioned, starting to get hysterical.

"We know, Raph, you did the right thing…You did it to protect us…" Leo assured his immediate younger brother whilst placing a hand on his shoulder.

"I don't know what's going on here, guys, but I've got a feeling that this won't be the last time we'll be encountering something like this…" Donnie speculated anxiously.

"You may be right, Donnie…Come on, let's get out of here…" Leo agreed before he and his brothers made a move out of the room.

As soon as they got out of the basement, however, the trio heard more voices coming from further down the corridor. They immediately crouched down, turned their lights off, and slowly walked forward to avoid making any noise. They paused when they saw an unknown person walk by ahead of them, but he didn't spot them, so they continued to move until they reached a staircase leading to the upper floor.

The turtle brothers hurried up the stairs and entered a room before closing and bolting the door shut. Once they knew they were safe, the trio had a look around the room before they spotted a map on the wall.

"What's dis?" Raph questioned with a raised eyebrow.

"It looks like some kind of map of a large lake…And there's a village that's got a cross over it…" Donnie answered as he inspected it more closely.

"Guys, look!" Leo suddenly alerted his brothers.

Raph and Donnie looked up to see Leo pointing at a photograph that was pinned on the top left of the map. What they saw in the photo shocked them; it showed their baby brother, Mikey, laid on his side with his hand tied behind his back and a blindfold over his eyes!

"That's Mikey!" Donnie cried out.

"What's happened ta him!?" Raph questioned in anger.

"He's imprisoned, and I'll bet the cross on this map means that he's in the village somewhere…" Leo theorised before he turned on his hidden earpiece and spoke through it.

"April, it's Leo. Can you hear me?"

"I hear you loud and clear, Leo. What's your status?" April responded.

"We've figured out where Mikey is being kept; it's likely he's in this village like we first thought…" Leo told her.

"Our intel from our scout Angel was correct, then. Great job!" April praised in relief.

"We need a location on a nearby lake. He may have been taken there…" Donnie requested through his own earpiece as he assessed the map and photos.

"Got it! I'll see what I can find…" April replied before she started typing away on her computer.

"Work as fast as you can, April. Something's happened to the people here, and our escorts are-"

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Leo was suddenly interrupted when he and his brothers heard banging on the other side of the door. It was then that an axe broke through part of the door, meaning that the turtles have been found out.

"Uh, oh…" Donnie said anxiously.

"Looks like we've got company…!" Raph alerted.

"Gotta go, April. Talk later…" Leo said through the communicator before he and his brothers stood in their battle poses and face the door.

Seconds later, the door was broken down and three men stood in front of the turtle brothers with weapons in their hands. Leo looked over to his right and saw a window.

"We'll let ourselves out, thanks!" He said to the men before dodging out of the way when one of the men charged in for the kill.

Leo ran towards the window and jumped through it, smashing the glass, with Raph and Donnie following his lead. After landing on the ground and getting back on their feet, the turtle brothers looked up at the window and saw one of the men peering out and looking at them with a sickening glare before walking away.

"Come on, bros, let's get away from here…" Leo commanded before he and his brothers started running away from the house.
