Chapter 3-What's Wrong With Everyone!?

The turtle brothers continued running for another 5 minutes before they stopped when they noticed that no-one was following them.

"Phew…Looks like we've lost them…" Leo breathed out.

"I'm guessin' da only way outta dis is onwards, right?" Raph questioned with a sigh.

"Yep…Let's keep going down this path; we shouldn't be too far from the village, according to the map we found earlier…" Donnie answered as he pointed at the path in front of them after looking at the image of the map, which was taken back at the hunter's house earlier, on the screen of his shell cell.

With a plan now set, the turtle brothers started their walk down the path leading towards the village. They crossed a long rope bridge, which they noticed it had splatters of red blood on the wooden planks, and then they reached a grassy area with a couple of partially damaged houses nearby.

"Raph, watch out!" Donnie suddenly shouted as he pushed Raph to one side, surprising him.

"Wha-!? What d'ya do dat for, brainiac!?" Raph questioned in confusion and annoyance, not happy with being pushed out of nowhere.

"Look down!" Donnie instantly told him.

Raph did just that, and his eyes widened when he saw the sharp teeth of a prepared bear trap in front of his feet. Donnie picked up a long fallen tree branch and pressed one end down on the trigger, making the trap snap shut in an instant and break the stick in half.

"Whoa…nasty…" Raph exclaimed in shock.

"Precisely…One more step, and you would've lost your foot…" Donnie replied seriously.

"Let's be careful whilst we move on, and take out any more traps if you find them…" Leo told his brothers.

Raph and Donnie nodded in understanding before they continued their careful walk towards the village, whilst keeping an eye out for more traps along the way.

They soon arrived by a large and solid double gate, and they all pushed it open to finally enter the village.

Then, suddenly…

"No, no! Ah! Ah! AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!"

The trio froze when they heard an agonising scream coming from the village. They rushed closer to the village and saw something burning in the square with a few villagers surrounding it. They crouched down next to a large bush to avoid being spotted, and they each took out their binoculars to investigate what was going on from a distance.

What they saw had shocked them to the core; there was a huge bonfire with a human man, who they recognised as the younger policeman, tied up on a wooden pole and being burned to death. The villagers were standing in front of it with their arms in the air as if they were praying or chanting up to the sky.

"No…Oh, no…" Donnie rasped in absolute horror.

"They're monsters, da lot of 'em…!" Raph hissed in anger before attempting to charge and attack the evil villagers, but Leo stopped him and held him back.

"No, Raph, it's too late; there's nothing we can do for him now…" Leo told him sadly.

Raph looked at Leo before he saddened, closed his eyes, and slowly calmed his rage down.

"We need to sneak into the village without being caught…" Leo said calmly as he looked at the village with narrowed eyes.

"Hmm...We should be able to get past the villagers by going down that left side path towards those houses over there…" Donnie proposed as he pointed at the hidden pathway leading towards the back of some of the village houses.

"Good thinking, Donnie…Let's go, and remember; stay silent and keep hidden in the shadows…" Leo replied.

Raph and Donnie nodded before they all sneaked their way towards the left pathway.

After successfully sneaking past the villagers without being spotted, the turtle brothers entered one of the nearby houses and closed the door quietly to avoid attracting attention. However, unbeknownst to them, one of the villagers had just spotted them going inside.

Leo, Raph, and Donnie took a look around the house whilst thinking about what their next move would be. When they walked upstairs, they had spotted a cabinet full of firearms which were all in different shapes and sizes.

"Ooooh, new toys…!" Raph said excitedly as he picked up and looked at the guns with glittering eyes.

"Now, hold on a minute, Raph…We're not using firearms; a true ninja never uses them…" Leo refused, not liking the idea of a ninja using bullets to fight.

"Do we look like we have a choice, Fearless? Our own weapons aren't gonna be as effective against these things…!" Raph pointed out before taking one of the handguns and started loading it with bullets.

"Raph has a point, Leo; these guns can take out these monsters a lot quicker than our ninja weapons can…It's only until we rescue Mikey and get back home…" Donnie agreed with Raph, despite feeling a bit reluctant in using the weapons himself.

Leo sighed in frustration and wanted to protest again, but he knew deep down that what both Raph and Donnie had said were true; compared to their ninja weapons, the firearms had a faster attack speed and would take out an enemy within seconds if aimed accurately.

"…Alright, fine…We will use these guns, but it will only be temporary; once we find Mikey and get out of this place, we're leaving them behind…Understood?" The blue-banded turtle told his brothers firmly.

"We got it, bro…calm down…" Raph answered in a small huff before he store the handgun in his belt, and then he grabbed the long shotgun off the wall and placed it on his back.

Leo sighed again before he grabbed one of the handguns and a handheld machine gun and placed them in his belt, with Donnie doing the same with two handguns.

Then, suddenly…

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

The turtle brothers jumped in surprise when they heard banging noises downstairs. Donnie looked out of the window and gasped when he saw the villagers starting to gather near the house that he and his brothers were hiding in.

"Oh, no…! They've found us out!" Donnie cried out.

"But how!? We kept a low profile!" Raph questioned in confusion.

"We'll worry about that later, Raph, just get ready; I've got a feeling we're in for a big fight…" Leo told him firmly before he and his brothers ran downstairs and looked through the windows.

"What are they up to?" Donnie questioned as he observed the villagers' movements outside.

Then, the turtle brothers heard the unmistakable sound of a chainsaw being activated, and their eyes widened when they saw a man wearing a sack over his head and walking towards them whilst holding a chainsaw!

"A chainsaw!? Are ya kiddin' me!?" Raph shouted.

"Block the doors and windows! That should bide us some time to prepare our new weapons…!" Leo commanded.

Everyone went straight into action; the turtle brothers pushed the shelving cabinets in front of the windows and a thick plank of wood in front of the door to keep the villagers from coming in all at once, and then they rummaged everywhere around the house for any more weapons and ammo.

Then…

SMASH!

The sound of a window smashing was heard upstairs, which only meant one thing.

"They're coming up the top window!" Donnie alerted in a slight panic.

Raph immediately stormed up the stairs, and it was then that he spotted the window next to him had been completely smashed into and the top of a ladder was placed there. He then saw two male villagers climbing up the ladder with angry-looking faces.

"Hey! No freaks allowed!" He shouted before he pushed the ladder away from the window, causing it to fall backwards and land hard on the ground with the villagers on it.

However, things were starting to go from bad to worse for the turtle brothers. Because of the distraction upstairs, the chainsaw man downstairs had started to saw through the blocked door.

"He's breaking in!" Donnie cried out as soon as he had noticed what was going on downstairs.

"Get your weapons ready!" Leo commanded as he took out his handgun.

As soon as all the brothers had their weapons out and readied, the chainsaw man had broken through the door completely and started walking up the stairs, with some of the villagers following him from behind.

Seeing this, the turtle brothers started shooting. They had managed to take out the villagers by shooting them in the head, but the chainsaw man kept advancing through the bullets and towards the trio as if his body was made of steel.

"Get onto the next roof!" Leo commanded before he ran over to the other window, smashed it open, and jumped through it to get onto the rooftop next door.

Raph and Donnie looked at each other before they followed their brother's lead just as the chainsaw man was about to strike them with his chainsaw. However, as soon as the turtle brothers had jumped onto the roof, they suddenly fell through it due to the decaying structure not taking their weight.

Luckily, they didn't sustain any serious injuries and were able to get back up without a problem, but that didn't mean that they were out of danger. The noise they had made had attracted the villagers' attention and started charging towards them.

"Run!" Leo shouted before he and his brothers ran out of the house and headed towards the village courtyard.

When they got there, they were met with a gang of villagers wielding pitchforks and axes!

"Alright, dat's it! If they want a fight, we'll give 'em one! Bring it on!" Raph snapped, now getting fed up of running, before he pointed his gun at the villagers.

"Let's get this done…" Leo sighed before he and Donnie pointed their own weapons at the villagers as well. The villagers growled before charging towards the turtle brothers.

Leo used his katana swords to block the pitchforks coming from his left and used his gun to shoot them down, Donnie used his bo staff deflect a few axes that were thrown at him before he tripped the throwers over and shot them in the head, and Raph got up close to the villagers on his right and parried their axes with his sais before he pointed his handgun in their faces and pulled the trigger, killing them instantly.

Just then, the trio heard the chainsaw man walking towards them with his large weapon in his hands.

"Ok, I'm gettin' tired of dis! He's goin' down!" Raph growled before he grabbed the shotgun from his back and stomped towards the chainsaw man.

"Raph, be careful!" Leo told him firmly.

As soon as he was at a suitable distance, Raph aimed his shotgun and fired at the chainsaw man. This time, the shotgun bullet was stronger than the handgun's and was able to both hurt and stun the chainsaw man.

"Heh, not so indestructible after all, huh…" Raph commented with a smirk before he dodged the chainsaw man's attack and fired at him again.

Leo and Donnie decide to give their red-banded brother a hand whilst he reloaded his gun; Leo knocked the chainsaw out of the man's hands using his katana swords, whilst Donnie kicked the chainsaw man back at a good distance before getting out of the way to allow Raph to shoot the chainsaw man twice in the head.

Finally, the chainsaw man had stopped attacking and fell face first to the ground. However, the turtle brothers couldn't relax just yet because they still had the villagers to take out, but they hadn't noticed until now that the number of villagers had increased during their fight against the chainsaw man.

"They just keep coming!" Donnie shouted.

"Hold your ground! We can still beat them!" Leo commanded before he kicked back another villager who was about to attack him with a long kitchen knife.

Just as the turtle brothers were beginning to feel outnumbered…

Bong! Bong! Bong!

The distant but loud sound of a church bell ringing was heard slightly further away from the village, making the villagers stop their attacks and drop their weapons.

"Huh? They've stopped…?" Leo questioned in surprise and confusion.

Raph and Donnie looked around, and they too had noticed that the villagers were no longer attacking them. Instead, they began walking away from the trio whilst mumbling some words in Spanish, and then they entered a mysterious door and closed it behind them.

"Err…Where's everyone goin'? Is it Bingo time or somethin'?" Raph questioned in confusion as he, Leo, and Donnie looked around at the now empty and quiet courtyard.
