Chapter 13-They've Got A Cave Troll!
The turtle brothers docked the boat not far from the quarry, and they had entered the open area when, suddenly…
SLAM! SLAM!
The doorway they had entered from and the doorway leading towards the church were slammed shut, leaving the trio trapped.
"What da-!? What's happenin' now!?" Raph exclaimed in a stunned tone.
The turtle brothers looked around frantically for a way out before they spotted figure cloaked in red with a goat's skull on his head standing at the top of the quarry wall next to a metal door. They then noticed that the figure was waving a glowing staff and chanting something in another language.
"What's he doing up there?" Leo questioned in confusion.
Then…
Rrrooooaaaarrr! Bang! Bang! BANG!
A fearsome roar was heard on the other side of the door before something banged against it, weakening the wooden plank blocking it until the whole door burst open and went flying towards the turtle brothers. The trio ducked just as the door pieces flew above them before they looked up and saw with wide eyes at what had broken out; an extremely large troll-like giant wearing ripped shorts and rope around his neck appeared from the doorway and roared as he readied for a fight.
"Oh, no…! They've got a cave troll!" Donnie alerted in horror.
"Holy shell, he's huge!" Raph exclaimed.
"Looks like we've got no choice but to fight him! Ready your weapons!" Leo commanded bravely before he readied his weapon.
ROOAAR!
The large monster roared before he stomped over to the turtle brothers and threw his fists towards the ground. The trio quickly dodged the attack and started firing bullets at him, but he wasn't going down so easily due to his body's high durability.
Suddenly, the giant reached out and grabbed Donnie with his large hand and lifted him in the air before slowly squeezing the purple-banded turtle to a point where he was getting crushed.
"Aaaargh!" Donnie yelled in pain as he struggled to get free from the giant's grip.
"Donnie!" "Let him go, ya freak!" Leo and Raph shouted whilst shooting at him to get him to release their brother, but the giant barely felt their attacks and continued his slow and painful crushing of the purple-banded turtle.
Just as Donnie was about to be finished off…
Owoooo!
A howl was heard above everyone before a familiar dog jumped down the rocky wall and bit the giant's arm. The large monster roared in pain and dropped Donnie who landed roughly on the ground.
"Don! Are you ok!?" Leo cried out as he hurried over to Donnie's side.
"Ngh…Y-Yeah…" Donnie grunted in response as he stood back up with Leo's help. Despite nearly being crushed, the purple-banded turtle had no serious injuries.
"Woof! Woof, woof, woof, woof!" The turtle brothers heard a dog barking, and their eyes widened when they saw that it was the white dog from earlier and was confronting the giant.
"Hey! It's that dog we helped out earlier!" Donnie alerted his brothers with a relieved smile.
"Ya wanna help, boy? Great, cos we really need it right now…!" Raph said with a smirk before he readied himself again.
Taking advantage of the giant's distraction, the turtle brothers resumed their attack by firing more bullets at it before throwing a couple of grenades at his feet to try and cripple him. The giant tried but failed to land a hit on the dog before resuming his focus on the turtle brothers; he stomped over to a house nearby and ripped the roof off of it.
"Ya gotta be kiddin' me!" Raph exclaimed before he and his brothers watched as the giant threw the roof at them.
"Look out!" Leo shouted before he dodged out of the way, with his brothers following his lead, just as it landed and smashed to pieces.
Shortly after that attack, the giant roared before something large and parasitic burst out of his back.
"Ugh, no way…!" Leo groaned in grotesque.
"He's got worms, too…!?" Raph said in shock and disgust.
"That must be what's controlling him! If we get rid of it, the giant will also be taken out too!" Donnie theorised.
"Alright, then let's focus all our attacks on that thing on his back!" Leo commanded, aiming his gun at the large parasite and started shooting at it.
After a few successful shots, the giant became distressed before he angrily stormed towards the turtle brothers with his fists ready to pound them.
"Move!" Leo cried out before he and his brothers jumped out of the giant's line of sight just as he slammed and pounded his fists to the ground.
After moving further away from the giant, the turtle brothers resumed their attack on the large parasite until the giant roared in pain and crouched down to the ground with his head covered by his hands. This gave the trio the chance to attack the parasite close up.
"I'm goin' fer it!" Raph shouted before he ran towards the giant, climbed onto his back, and started stabbing the parasitic worm over and over again with his sais.
A few seconds later, Raph felt the giant move and start to get back up again. He quickly jumped off of his back before he could touch him.
"Shell, dat thing is just as tough as da troll…!" Raph complained.
"You still did good, Raph…Let's keep this up!" Leo praised.
Just then, the white dog charged towards the giant and grabbed the back of his ankle with his jaws. The giant felt that and, with an annoyed grunt, he lifted his leg backwards and kicked it in the air, causing the dog to let go and be sent flying towards the ground. Luckily, he didn't suffer any injuries as he stood back up and started barking at the giant again as if he was taunting him to come and get him.
"What's he doing!? He's going to get himself killed!" Donnie cried out worriedly.
The dog's taunting had worked; the giant charged towards him, but the dog was too quick and dodged him. Instead, the large creature struck the stone wall, causing it to crumble and pile on top of him. This caused the parasite to show itself again.
"Now, dat is what we're talkin' about! Atta boy!" Raph praised before he watched as the dog ran past them, and then Leo rushed towards the fallen giant in his place.
However, just as he got a few inches towards him, Leo stopped and retreated as the giant suddenly started to crawl out of the rubble and stand back up in a rage.
"Keep shooting at the worm!" Leo commanded.
Raph and Donnie did as they were told; they took aim at the large parasite and fired bullets at it until the troll collapsed in a crouching position again. Leo tried again with his attempt at attacking the worm, and this time, the giant didn't move as the blue-banded turtle climbed up his back and started slashing at the parasite over a dozen times with his katana swords.
It was soon becoming apparent to Leo that the worm was getting weaker after taking so many hits, but before he could finish it off, the giant got back up again and made Leo jump off of his back.
"Now, finish it off! It's gotten weaker!" Leo commanded as he ran back towards his brothers.
After hearing that, Raph swapped his handgun for his shotgun and aimed it at the worm before firing a couple of bullets at it.
Then, the worm had stopped moving, and the giant began roaring in agonising pain before it collapsed to the ground and fell silent.
"…Finally…he's down…and the doors…have been reopened…we can get to that church, now…" Leo panted before putting his weapons away.
"Phew…Good, because I never wanna do that again…" Donnie breathed in relief.
"Yer tellin' me; we were almost flattened like turtle pancakes…!" Raph agreed before he walked over to the white dog who was lying on a large rock not far from the trio.
"Thanks fer yer help, bud…Now, we're even…" He said gratefully with a smirk whilst giving the dog a stroke on his head.
"Woof, woof!" The white dog barked happily before he took off and vanished into the darkness.
After watching the dog leave, the turtle brothers started making their way back to the church, hoping and praying that the key they had found would finally get them inside the church and find Mikey.

The title of this chapter was inspired by the first Lord of the Rings film since the large monster in the quarry reminded me of the cave troll that Frodo and his team fought in the dwarf mines.
