Devon is in trouble
A guy with a shirt and a blue fisherman's hat entered in the store.
"I'm here dad!" he said announcing his arriving.
A guy with glasses and curly hair turned his head.
"Devon! You're late, as always!"
"Sorry dad!" he apologized.
"We have no time for talk, here's your job..."
The man showed numerous piles of boxes.
"They arrived this morning. You know what to do!"
"Yes dad!"
"That's my boy!"
The man grabbed his stuff and left the store.
"And don't forget to open the store once you finished or customers won't be able to come in!" he said before leaving.
"Yes dad!"
"Good! See you later!"
"Bye dad!"
The man closed the door.
Without wasting any minute Devon opened the boxes and placed the new stuff on the shelves.
Due to the many boxes the work was completed much later.
Devon just couldn't wait to take some vacations, just another few working days and he could enjoy his summer vacation.
Once he finished to place the last item on the shelf he remembered to open the main door.
When he turned back to the salesman's desk he noticed one small box he forgot to open.
Not even a minute had passed before the door opened.
"Good a new customer!" he thought but he was too busy with the box to see who was the customer.
"Devon!" a girly voice said.
"Looks like my new customer is a girl, I hope she's pretty!" he thought.
Devon turned his head, then he disappeared.
He had no time to react.
His blue fisherman's hat fell on the floor.
Later a group of three girls arrived to the store.
"Sorry girls, we're late!" said one of the girls wearing glasses.
"That's no good! We have to do something! We have to make sure she doesn't make anymore victims!" the chubby girl with long black hair planned.
"Yes but how?"
"Girls, I think we should leave now. Police's incoming!" the girl with braces said.
"Hmmm… police!" the girl with glasses mumbled.
The police inspected the store. Devon's dad was assisting still shocked about the event.
"Err… mister?" a voice said.
It was a black-skinned and bald officer.
"Yes?"
"Bruce Freeman, Toronto police! May I ask you some question about your son Devon?"
The man allowed.
"Well… do you have any idea about Devon's kidnapper?"
"No!"
"Did Devon had some enemies?"
"No!"
"Was Devon threatened by someone?"
"No!"
"Did Devon suffer violence by someone lately?"
"No!"
"Right… right!" the officer said writing things on his notebook.
"So, will you find my son?"
"It's not easy to say but we'll do anything to find your son, mister! You have my word! But for now we have no track to follow so I asked you these questions!"
"Good! I hope you'll find him soon!"
"Yeah!"
The officer was about to leave the man alone.
"One more thing!" he said turning back suddenly.
"Yes?"
"I almost forgot to ask…. Can you tell me if something unusual happened to your son lately?"
Silence.
"No!" the man answered.
Bruce nodded and left the guy alone.
"However..." the man said suddenly.
"What?"
"Well, something unusual happened more than a month ago but I don't think it's relevant!"
"Tell me that, please!"
"Well… it happened on May, my son was working at the store when he suddenly he heard a voice. He told me that voice said something incomprehensible, something strange!"
"What was that?"
The man said the incomprehensible word.
"Good!" the officer thanked writing everything on his notebook again.
"We'll update you if we'll discover something about your son!"
"Thanks officer!"
The three girls assisted the entire interview.
"The same thing she said to Carter!" the girl with glasses said.
"What where are you going?" the chubby girl asked.
"I have an idea! Follow me!"
The three girls stopped the bald officer.
"Mister Bruce?"
The officer turned his head.
"Yes? Who are you? What do you want?"
"We know something about the kidnapper: it's our friend! We can help you but we also have a lot to talk, it's a long story!"
The officer was incredulous for a while.
"All right! Follow me in my office and tell me what you know about your friend!"
