Lorelai was rambling and hysterical. She was ready to be all in with Luke but was feeling like she was losing him each day. She understood why he needed a relationship with his daughter. She really did. She just couldn't figure out why he wouldn't let her and April officially meet. And then she heard herself tell Luke that it was now or never and instantly regretted it. Luke didn't like ultimatums and she knew that. She wiped away tears as she got in her Jeep and headed to the one place she knew she probably shouldn't go.

At first, Christopher was being comforting and letting Lorelai vent. But then he offered her shots of Tequila and that's when she realized what was happening and pulled herself together.

"Chris, stop," she said. "We can't do this."

"Why, Lor?" he asked. Chris was confused. He was pretty sure she said her engagement was off even though she still had her ring on. They could finally be together and be a family.

Lorelai wiped her tears and sniffled. "Because technically I'm still engaged. And plus, you and I are never going to work. I'm not going to cheat on Luke. I don't know why I came here. I need to go." She stood up to leave but Christopher tried to stop.

"Come on, Lor. Please stay," he begged.

She shook her head. "I'm going home to Luke. Goodbye, Christopher." And with that she walked out and got in the Jeep again.

When she returned to Stars Hollow she saw all the lights on in the diner. And then she noticed that Luke's truck was full of various items. She parked behind his truck and headed to the door as Luke came out.

"Luke, I'm..." started Lorelai.

Luke shook his head. "No, you're right. I don't need to think about this. It's like it's not even real to me. It's like my life isn't even real to me unless you're there, and you're in it, and I'm sharing it with you. And, uh, I don't know what I was waiting for, and I don't know what I was scared of, but I'm not. I'm not scared, and I'm not waiting. I'm here."

"Luke...," began Lorelai.

He interrupted her and continued, "No, don't say anything. I've got a tank full of gas, and Maryland is only 200 miles away, and I've made us some reservations at a couple of bed-and-breakfasts. I mean if you don't want to do the Maryland thing, we don't have to. I heard you say Maryland the other day. I don't know whether you were serious. I'm just trying to cover my bases here."

"Oh, Luke," said Lorelai.

"I also packed some camping equipment so we can head to Vermont or Maine and, you know, check into a cabin for a week, you know, like a little honeymoon thing. But maybe that's a little too rustic for your taste. Or we could drive to Atlantic city or even Las Vegas if you want to make a real road trip out of it," said Luke. " I also did some research, and we can also apparently use a sea captain, if you want. I'm not sure how big the boat has to be for it to be legal, but we can head to the coast, and we can knock on some doors, you know, boat doors. Yeah, that's probably not the most sensible way."

"Luke, I'm so sorry," said Lorelai. She looked at the truck and realized he really did want to be with her. "I don't know why I gave you an ultimatum." She started crying again and sobbed harder when Luke took her in his arms. "I panicked...it was starting to feel like you didn't want to get married and I didn't know what else to do!"

Luke kissed the top of her head. "I'm sorry too. I never meant for you to feel that way. I got so wrapped up in getting to know April that I didn't realize how you were feeling. I promise that I'm not doing that again. Now, we can leave tonight or first thing in the morning."

Lorelai looked up at him. "Let's leave in the morning. I'd like to go to our house and talk more. I need to tell you where I went because I'm tired of keeping secrets from each other."

Luke nodded in agreement. "I'm guessing you weren't at Sookie's. I tried there after you left and you weren't there."

"You went after me?" whispered Lorelai. "Oh, God, you're going to be so mad at me!"

"Of course I went after you! Why wouldn't I? I can never get mad at you...I may not like the answer but I won't get mad."

"I went to Christopher!" blurted Lorelai. "And yes, it was a stupid idea and I realized that after I vented to him and he started pouring shots of tequila and tried to kiss me! I left and told him not to contact me again."

Luke clenched his jaw. "I'm not mad that you went to him but I could punch the guy for trying to take advantage of you when you're vulnerable."

Lorelai grinned. "I might just let you because I wanted to do the same thing."

Luke laughed. "It's very tempting. So what do you think about going away?"

Lorelai nodded. "I'm in...but can we have Rory and April there? It wouldn't feel right without them."

"Of course," answered Luke. "We can leave in the morning."

"And can we have a reception on June 3rd? In town?"

"As long as we're married soon we can do whatever you want," said Luke. He was glad Lorelai came to him tonight to make him realize he was going to lose the best thing that ever happened ever happened to him if he didn't do something. He might not be the most spontaneous person but for Lorelai he'd do anything.

"Dirty!" gasped Lorelai. "But seriously, let's plan a reception for June 3rd. And I'm packing my wedding dress for our trip. I at least want the chance to wear it."

"I want that too." Luke kissed her and the two of them made plans to leave early in the morning.
