Chapter 11:
Draco hadn't been drunk a lot before. Sure he did drink, but never that much. From a past experience, though, he knew exactly how Ginny felt as she clutched her head in her hands. Draco bend down to one of his nightstands, searching for something. When he opened the second drawing, he found it. The Anti-hangover potion. Draco went to sit softly on the bed, as to not scare Ginny.
Draco: Ginny? Hey, Ginny, can you look at me?
He pushed a strand of her hair out of her face and that's when she finally looked up at him. A sheepish smile appeared on Ginny's face.
Ginny: Draco!
She then pulled him into a tight hug. Damn, she might not have a lot of flesh but you surely can feel she played quidditch. As much as Draco wanted to stay in the embrace, he knew Ginny was still drunk. He pulled her slightly away, not wanting to lose their closeness.
Draco: Here, drink this.
Draco held the potion to her face but she slapped it away, almost making him drop it.
Draco: It's, uhm, it's fire whisky. Like you were drinking earlier.
Ginny looked at him confused.
Ginny: I was drinking fire whiskey?
Draco let out a laugh. God, she's cute.
Draco: Yeah, you were.
She looked at him a few more seconds, before snatching the bottle from his hand.
Ginny: Okay, then.
With one big gulp, Ginny downed the liquid. She then scrunched her face up in disgust and started coughing violently.
Draco: Okay, easy now.
He pushed her back down onto the bed so she was laying again.
Draco: This'll reduce your hangover when you wake up.
Ginny mumbled and Draco had to come closer to her to hear it.
Ginny: I don't want this feeling to ever stop.
He wondered if it had something to do with her… eating habits.
Ginny moaned out of pain.
Ginny: My head hurts.
Draco: C'mon, then. Let's get you back to bed.
Draco threw the duvet back over Ginny before he made his way to the couch where he started prepping it to go to sleep. Ginny, even in her drunken state, had noticed this.
Ginny: You can sleep on the bed, y'know. Just make sure to stay on your side.
Draco approached the bed.
Draco: Well, it's my bed so technically both sides are mine.
Ginny: For safety…
Ginny prepped a pillow in the middle of the bed.
Ginny: This is the neutral zone.
Draco let out a laugh. Ginny plopped back down on her pillow.
Ginny: Don't laugh at me!
Draco: Okay.
A smile still lingering on his face. Draco started undressing himself, slowly taking his shirt off as to give Ginny a little show as to what she was missing out on. She thought he didn't notice her stare, but he did. She turned away from him as to not make it obvious. She then whispered a spell turning off the lights, wanting this awkward moment to end as quickly as possible. Draco, however, was not yet in bed.
Draco: Seriously? It's pitch black. I can't see where the neutral zone is. Wouldn't want to start a war.
He turned the lights back on and got into bed.
Draco: What do you want for breakfast tomorrow morning?
Ginny rolled her eyes and snorted, still not facing him.
Ginny: You're the biggest cliché I've ever come across.
Draco laughed. Though drunk, she hadn't lost her wit.
Draco: Yeah it's true. My mom never said anything about my drawings and I never got hugs from my dad. And yes, I didn't yet have any hair on my balls 'till last year. Or is that too cliché for a cliché?
Ginny laughed without holding back.
Ginny: Depends on whether or not it's true.
Draco: If so, would you like me more or less?
At this, Ginny did turn around.
Ginny: I don't like you.
Draco: yes, you do.
Draco teased her. Ginny stubbornly turned back away from him.
Ginny: No, I don't.
Draco turned off the lights. As they lay there in silence, ginny couldn't help but wonder.
Ginny: Draco? Why am I here?
Draco took a second to answer her question.
Draco: …Because I can't leave you alone.
Apparently this answer was good enough for Ginny, as he got no response back. Sleepily, she said.
Ginny: … Goodnight, Drake.
Draco: Goodnight, Ginevra.
They both fell into a peaceful sleep, and Ginny, for the first time in months, slept like a baby, with no nightmares to keep her awake.
