Chapter 12
Aftermath, weddings and Assassinations.
The Small Council Chamber
The Red Keep Kings Landing
Rhea Royce prediction was true, Poor Viserys was trying so hard to stem his headache as the council and family argued with Aegon and each other over his choice to marry both, Aegon however had no problem with revealing his mind.
As he smashed his fist on the table causing everyone to quiet down. "This argument is pointless, you are all complaining on which child would inherit if I married two wives, the question is quite simple the first-born son will inherit the throne my second son will be given the princedom over the city of New Valyria which will be build by the time he is of age,"
Corlys knew it was a good deal and grabbed his wife's hand giving her the look not to say anything, his daughter would be Queen and her children if they were Sons could sit on the Iron Throne his Blood.
Rhaenys was quiet but not happy, she wanted her daughter to be Queen yes but now her daughter would need to have a son first otherwise Rhaenys children would succeed Aegon when he died, Damn boy why couldn't he have just married Laena, she was the prefect, Bride.
Completely unaware her daughter had helped plan this to stop her plans but was also worried her mother might try to ensure she had a son first by removing Rhaenryra from the equation.
Aemma was just happy that her little girl was getting married, hugging Rhaenryra while Laena sat on Aegon's lap cuddling him having waited till Rhaenryra got up from sitting on Aegon's lap to have her turn.
Daemon was of no support to his brother congratulating Aegon and the girls, "you sure you can handle two wives nephew I think you would be safer back fighting in Essos." He joked earning glares from the girls but chuckles from the men even Otto chuckled at that one.
"My Prince, I am in full support of your union the Princess and Lady Leana are perfect matches for you, the idea of giving your 2nd son a Princedom is also genius it will appease the people of the New Freehold having one of the Dragon blood to rule over them directly." Lord Lyman beesbury spoke with a smile on his aged face, this man was a diehard Targaryen loyalist. "However, I must ask of the wedding itself your outspokenness of the Faith is well known which thankfully because of your efforts in helping the people of the capital and your military conquests in Essos it has given you a lot of goodwill."
Aegon nodded, "I understand your concern Lord Beesbury, and your right I am a Valyrian and will follow the fourteen, however I will never force my faith on the people of this realm with regards to the wedding it will be held here in the Red Keeps gardens the Godswood, with the feast being in the throne room and if the High Septon wants to offer his blessings it will be accepted with respect, but we will be wed in the traditions of our ancestral homeland."
5 days later
Winterfell The North
The Starks were enjoying dinner in the great hall of Winterfell when the maester walked in holding a letter bowing before the Lord of Winterfell. "Lord Stark, a raven from Kings landing for you, it bears the Sigil of the Royal House." He placed the letter on the table as the room went quiet as they watched their Lord open the letter, they all noticed it was quiet large message for a raven to carry.
Lord Stark
I write to you to invite you to Kings landing to attend the marriage of my son, Prince Aegon Targaryen to his sister, Princess Rhaenryra Targaryen, and the Lady Leana Velaryon, they will marry I the Godswood of the Red Keep in the faith of the Fourteen in 2 months' time.
We look forward to seeing you there.

The Godswood
The Red Keep
Kings Landing
Aegon Stood with His Uncle Daemon in his traditional Valyrian Wedding Robes, the gathered Nobility sat he could tell many were uncomfortable, the Faith of the Seven made a bit of a fuss about Aegon's choice of marriage, but with the faiths influence in the capital a fraction of its former strength and the 50,000 strong Targaryen Royal Army outside the capital city, they couldn't say anything.
The Northern Lords were happy that the Weirwood Tree was in a prominent location for the Royal Wedding, Sure the prince was marrying in the faith of the fourteen, but he was Valyrian so it could be accepted the fact he wasn't marrying in the faith of the Andals earned him higher renown with the north.
"Nervous nephew?" Daemon asked with a gentle smile which was strange to see on his uncles face he merely smiled as the music played, what made him tear up was seeing his baby sister Visenya and his cousin Alysanne tossing flower petals as she walked down between the rows of chairs both of them giving him a big hugs before standing near their mothers.
It wasn't part of the custom it was purely for little Vis and Alys to be part of the wedding but his attention was quickly brought back to the entrance to the Godswood, Lord Corlys and his father stood with both of his brides dressed in there Valyrian wedding robes. At that moment Aegon's mind flashed back to Harry and Daphnes wedding at Greengrass manor.
Closing his eyes his memory of Daphne was replaced with the smiling faces of his brides as they were escorted by their fathers, Viserys had a large grin on his face taking their hands they turned and kneeled as the Priest of the Fourteen who sailed from Dragonstone stood before them smiling.
With vows said blood oaths made the priest proclaimed them husband and wives to the polite cheers of the crowd of nobles and the roar of joy from there dragons who flew together in the sky, "The Nobles don't seem too happy except the north men and the Vale men and those of Valyrian Blood." Leana said behind her smile to Aegon who smiled it was true the Lords of there territories in Essos the Northerners, the lords of the Blackwater and those from the Vale were the most joyful.
"It matters not my dear wife come let me show you too something magnificent." Escorting them down to the walls overlooking the city they were shocked by what they saw.
General Rhogar and all 50,000 of his troops stood before the gates cheering when they saw them, behind the and around the large army were the people of Kings landing Cheering as they ate good food and drink, (Aegon had insisted that the commoners be given good food in celebration).
"That is the true people we will rule, the nobility have their uses, but when push comes to shove, they can be replaced, if necessary,"
That night
Celebrations were in full swing as nobles drank and ate or danced, or they walked up to offer their gifts to the married trio, Aegon spent most of the time laying kisses on his wives necks or cheeks he didn't notices a nervous looking servant place a filled goblet on the table, someone did.
His father stood, to address the guests. "Honoured guests, I stand before you not only as your king but as a proud father, I would like us all to raise a glass to the royal trio and wish them happiness and long live and plenty of grandchildren for me to and my wife to spoil." Causing chuckles from the nobles as he lifted one of the goblets it was only now Aegon saw the servant acting stressed
Taking a swig along with the rest of the nobles, the kings had started to shake as he dropped the goblet and began coughing up blood, he fell to his knees much to the courts horror.
"General seal the Keep and city now! Aegon yelled to Rhogar as he grabbed his father the Kingsguard pushing everyone who wasn't royal away from the table, Daemon grabbed the servant by the scruff of his shirt knocking him out cold, passing him to a legionary ordering him to hold him as he ran to his brother helping Aegon pick him up taking him to his chambers.
Across the city the Bells rang the city gates were closed as the Gold cloaks and the legionaries patrolled the city it didn't take long for word to spread that the king was possibly dead among the population as many tried to move towards the keep only to be met by the 4 ranks of legionaries blocking the path towards the Keep with their tower shields locked together.
The Grand Maester did not have good news for the gathered royals, the King would not live long en to see the sunrise.
Aegon was silent he didn't notice his family's reaction his mother falling to her knees crying his sister wife breaking down hugging Vis and Laena, and Daemon punching the wall in anger and heartbreak, he just couldn't believe it… no he would not accept it he pushed past the maester getting his family's attention they gathered themselves and walked into the chamber only to stop seeing Aegon's eyes completely white as a white glow came from his hands as he moved them over his dying fathers chest.
They slowly moved forward watching in aww as his eyes returned to normal, he fell to a chair breathing heavily as colour returned to his fathers face, but he didn't awake.
Looking at Aegon he smiled, "Father will live, but he is in a magically induced coma and wont wake till his body recovers from the poison." The problem was Aegon didn't know when he would wake up but if it wasn't soon, he still could die if his body wasted away without nourishment.
At this point Aegon was king in all but name, but now he had a servant to interrogate he would find who planned to kill his father and burn his bloodline from the face of the world. He didn't know why he could not heal his father completely until he felt why his father had been poisoned with something that affected him in a way that Aegon could only stop the damage from spreading, and not fully cure him, yes Aegon was powerful but he wasn't a god.
The Black Cells
the screams of the servant echoed late into the night as Aegon and Daemon watched on alongside Ser Otto in his official capacity as hand of the King, Aegon didn't trust him but knew he would ned to keep the man close until he had something on him.
his wives had gone to bed along with the rest of the family and guests there rooms guarded by the legionnaires, for there protection (and to keep and eye on them).
"his resistance is considerable" Otto said when the screaming stopped as the Kings confessor went to sharpen another device to use on the criminal. "everyman has a breaking point Otto, and we will find his" daemon hissed as Aegon slowly walked towards the assassin.
"i know my father was not the true target, he whispered. "No your poison was for me so i will ask this once nicely, who gave the order, tell me and ill spare your life you can spend the rest of your miserable life at Castle Black."
the man hissed at Aegon, "I do not fear death little Prince, your father was weak and easy to control, do what you will to me i will never break." he taunted unaware Aegon read his mind, this man was once a member of the sorrowful men a assassin's guild in essos. it was members of nobility of volantis who had hired him in fear he would expand further east.
now he would a quick compulsion charm would have him confess after a bit more torture, Aegon would leave to his fathers room, his mother was there crying. placing a hand on her shoulder he gently squeezed. "it was members of the nobility of volantis they were after me not father."
Aemma squeezed his hand. "make them suffer." was all she said he nodded and left for his rooms where his wives were still awake and waiting for him.
